Update- I have seen service level go down significantly to the point where they just want to upsell stuff. Once you say no they are not that warm/welcoming anymore. Stay true to your brand and customers will flock back to your office- treat them with respect regardless of how much revenue you get from them. read more

My husband and I have been with Dr Truvan at TruSmile Dental for almost ten years.  We are so happy to have Dr. Truvan!  We have been with many dentists in Northern Virginia area in the past 30 years.  Dr. Truvan is one of the best.  He cares his patients very much and always tries his best for better solutions for his patients.  He himself is perfectionist and has high standard to his works.  We have had a lot of dental work done at TruSmiles.  For everything Dr. Truvan did for us, including fillings, fixtures, crowns, tooth plant,  etc, he always made his work perfect, made it look good and have patients feel good.   His hygienist, Reta, is also excellent!  She is one of the best hygienists we've had in the past 30 years! I was referred to Dr. Truvan by my coworker and I love this office! Dr. Truvan always makes me feel at ease and educated about my oral health. He uses cool cameras and shows you HD pics of your teeth during your consultation! Vida, the oral hygienist, is wonderful as well. So gentle and thorough. Dr. Truman is amazing, the best dentist I (and my husband) have ever had! We drive 45 minutes to get to him in Chantilly, and it's well worth it. I've had some difficult issues, not to mention an epic fear of dentists, but when going to TruSmiles, IT DOESN'T HURT! He is patient and kind and explains all options and exactly what he is going to do as he's about to do it. And it doesn't take a long time. His dental assistant Rose is also wonderful - very nice and welcoming. I never even have the chance to think I need more suction during a procedure, which used to happen elsewhere. And they always bring me back at my appointment time - no waiting around. Their front office person is also very kind and very efficient. It's not a big place with multiple dentists, so I don't have to worry about getting stuck with another dentist. Yet they have been able to get me in quick a couple of times when I really needed it. WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Dr. Truvan is excellent! I recently had my first visit with Dr. Truvan for a check up and deep cleaning. Everything went really well- Dr. Truvan was very professional and made me feel at ease really quickly. I'm no fan of the dentist chair but this was such an upgrade on my last dental experience that I had to write something. These days when you go see a doctor or a health professional, you really don't get that "care". Yes, they can fix your illness or your tooth, but do they really "care" about you? With Dr. Truvan, I didn't feel like I was just another patient. I know he truly cares about the health of my teeth. For me, that makes a HUGE difference. My checkup and cleaning was thorough and I left the office feeling much better about my teeth. Like many people out there, my teeth aren't perfect. I have several old fillings, a crooked tooth, and I lost a tooth at a young age. My teeth aren't THAT bad :). But, they can be better, and Dr. Truvan knew that from the checkup. He helped me understand the risks involved with my old fillings and helped me put a plan together so that we can save, protect, and improve the health of my teeth going forward. I really appreciate that. I also want to point out that TruSmiles Dental has the state of the art technology and a very refreshing layout and that makes a big difference. The vibe and atmosphere are fantastic! I have been to some dental offices where I am afraid of the machines because they look old and just so rugged, which made me feel unease about having it in my mouth. Yikes! TruSmiles has state of the art technology and cool office designs,...kinda makes you want to play with the machines ...lol. TruSmiles Dental staff is very kind and very professional! At 43 years old, I have been to numerous dentists. After a bad experience, my office manager recommended Trusmiles. By the end of my first appointment, a routine cleaning, it was apparent that Dr. Truvan is not merely a dentist but a dental super hero. As mentioned in previous reviews, his office is state of the art. He's got more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at, and he knows how to use them. I was there today for a few filings; one of which was located on a wisdom tooth. I have had filings on wisdom teeth in the past, and the dentists were unable to completely numb the teeth. The explanation was that there must be a nerve coming from somewhere else that they could not locate. I'm not sure what super power Dr. Truvan used, but he was able to get that tooth numb. I could not have been happier. Also of note: he does not have a hygienist. He cleans your teeth himself. I'm no dentist, but I would think this would give him a more thorough examination of your teeth. Whether it does anything else, it instills confidence! In summary, I don't think you could find a better dental office. In me, Trusmiles has a customer for life. P.S - I did not find the novacain injections painless. read more

Ugh, I'm so reluctant to write this....not because anything is wrong, but because everything so SO GREAT! I had broken a filling/molar in half and was looking for a new dentist that was closer to my work when I came across TruSmiles. I'm really glad I called! They make each visit a truly personal and pleasant experience. From the very beginning, Gina was absolutely fabulous - super friendly on the phone, and even nicer in person! Dr. Truvan is an awesome dentist, and overall really nice guy as well. He is gentle and excellent about making sure you're absolutely comfortable at all times, which after being several times I can really attest to : ) I even recommended The Hubs (who hadn't been to a dentist in *years*) to go see Dr. Truvan, which he did, and had nothing but rave reviews. Kudos to Dr. Truvan and Gina for such an easy, professional visit! I had not been to a dentist in several years, and was worried about the repercussions of not having kept up regular visits. Both Dr. Truvan and Gina were nothing but positive and sensitive to my situation. Dr. Truvan explained each step of the visit thoroughly, as well as the (state-of-the-art) technology/tools he was using in order to perform the procedure (x-rays, plaque removal, and cleaning). I liked that the appointment did not seem rushed but was efficient, and he really took the time to listen to my concerns, as well as make sure I understood procedures and results. In addition, Gina was a joy to speak with, and absolutely professional and fun to work with in scheduling follow-up appointments, going over insurance information, and getting to know me as a patient. This past Saturday I ended up chipping my two front teeth. I won't tell you how exactly, but the whole ordeal left me looking like a well-dressed Asian pirate. So I contacted Dr. Truvan on extremely short notice and told him my situation. He calmed me down (Over the phone mind you. Personal service win.) and talked me through it, and made an emergency appointment for me only a couple days later. I walked in, greeted by his attractive and friendly staff. I filled out the necessary paperwork and within minutes I was prompted for X-rays. Soon after Dr. Truvan sat me down and gave me my options for both the immediate future and long term. I will have to say though, the procedure was relatively uneventful, and that's a good thing. He was actually able to sneakily inject my gums with the numbing stuff without me even noticing. He took care of not only my two front broken teeth, but ended up taking extra time out of his schedule to basically rid an entire area full of cavities and broken fillings. I was pretty amazed. After it was done, I looked in the mirror and chomped down. Not only did he get everything perfect, he did it on the first attempt! All in all, the experience was better than I ever could have hoped for. Dr. Truvan is a pro, learned, an accomplished expert in his field. Dentistry to him is an art, and your mouth the canvas. I can definitely say he takes pride in his work. He and his staff are clearly knowledgeable, skilled, and focused on the needs and condition of the patient. He'll sit down with you, explain your options and help you choose the best one for you. Oh one more thing, his place is super clean, modern, and neat. I'm no expert, but the machines and technology he uses seems pretty top notch, advanced cameras, cool suction contraptions, lots of screens, and like a panoramic X-ray machine. read more

After a particularly traumatizing dental experience in college, I have been avoiding the dentist for probably five years. It was bad. I knew I needed to go. I knew I'd probably need fillings. But I couldn't bring myself to do it! My coworker, meanwhile, was going through the same thing - 10 years with no dental visits. She finally went to a dentist, dreading the experience, but came back raving about how great they were. No judgement about not going for 10 years, a matter of fact attitude, and fast. So I called to book an appointment - they got me in the very next morning! I was VERY nervous. Dr. Truvan was great. "No one likes going to the dentist," he assured me. Despite going in for just an initial consultation, they squeezed me in for a cleaning and x-rays. The office is very high tech! They have a little camera to take pictures of your teeth, so Dr. Truvan was able to show me exactly how many cavities I needed fixed (too many). I've gone back twice now for fillings. Dr. Truvan suggested I spread out the visits since I clearly did not handle being in the chair long, a suggestion I appreciated. It was at no additional cost to me, other than time. The first filling visit I was SO nervous. The office staff is amazing, and worked hard to help calm me down. A bonus - after getting five fillings done, I'm no longer afraid of the dentist! They were painless, and Dr. Truvan is shockingly fast. I felt like I had just sat down in the chair. I've had my share of dental work over the years and Dr. Truvan was the best experience I've ever had.I haven't had any problems with the fillings - the bite is good. I got a tiny chip on one tooth that was filled from my first appointment and Dr. Truvan fixed it at no charge. I have one more filling left, and I'm not dreading my appointment at all. Dr. Truvan let's you know what the procedure is and comments during, so you know what to expect. He was extra careful and gentle with me... Dr. Truvan is the BEST dentist I have ever been to... very compassionate and knowledgeable. He let's you know your dental situation and explains options and his recommendations. His office is equipped with all sorts of cutting edge devices and you feel comfortable knowing your getting the best care with the latest techniques. My last dentist up north has nothing to compare. I wish I had always gone to Dr. Truvan, because then I would not have developed this fear to dentistry. He also referred me to Dr. Huang at Northern Virginia Endodontics in Chantilly for an emergency root canal... pain-free! Didn't take any Tylenol or anything afterward because I didn't need to. Again- super gentle talented endodontost - love Dr. Huang! TruSmiles Dental has made it possible for me to stop putting off the maintenance and care of my teeth- so now all those procedures I was avoiding- well, I'm getting them done like it's nothing at all. Cannot recommend them more highly. Dolce is an awesome Dental Assistant and Gina is terrific with scheduling and getting everything done on the office administration side of things. Hands down, he is the most capable and thorough dentist of them all. All procedures are explained carefully (including the price). His touch is not rough and the facility is kept very clean. OK, time for an update. Since I last wrote I have had one crown completed, another prepped (today) and a couple of fillings, also today. Dr T. continues to be my buddy! I am amazed still at the painless injections, they really are painless! The standard of care I have received here has been top notch, I have gone from being a trembling jelly at the thought of the dentist to a slightly nervous wreck, which in my case is a HUGE improvement! I no longer lose sleep before an appointment and I am much less of a basket case in the days leading up to it so thanks Dr T, I am a believer in your dental ninja skills. They are impressive to say the least. Even though at this point I have probably financed the next Truvan clan European vacation, I feel grateful for the beautiful smile that is coming together nicely now and for the fact that I am no longer scared of the dentist. After my family dentist of many years retires it took me several years to find one that I liked. Some were outdated in their equipment and methods, while others were state of the art but tried to upsell you on unnecessary "deep cleaning" procedures. This practice has all the latest technology that you want but they don't try and rip you off. I've been going there for a few years now for regular cleanings and a few minor procedures. I had the best experience at TruSmiles Dental. Unfortunately, I broke my tooth over the weekend and needed to have it examined and fixed. I was really upset that my tooth was broken and panicked because I didn't have a local primary dentist (At 30 something I was still using my hometown dentist, four states away). After the initial panic, I remembered that I had heard many great things about Dr. Truvan. I anxiously waited until Monday at 8:00 am to call. My wishes were granted and Gina was able to squeeze me in. From the moment I walked in the door, the entire staff was welcoming and helpful. The combination of the knowledgable professional staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and welcoming environment put me at ease. I was amazed at the instant x ray images, and photos of my teeth. It helped me to understand the severity of my injury, my options to resolve the issue and the the final result. Once the procedure was finished, I anticipated the Novocain to wear off and some moderate discomfort, swollen gums, bruising... Wrong! The anesthetic wore off, and I honestly can say that it was as if I never had anything done. I felt and looked 100%. I am mad that I broke my tooth and that the cause of it was poor preventive care. However in the end, I have no more excuses for not having a local primary dentist. I trust Dr. Truvan and will be seeing him regularly for my teeth cleaning. read more

Update from my review - I feel like I have been going here more often than any of my favorite food/activities spots! I got my wisdom tooth taken out, regular cleaning, and other procedures done - all SUPER easy and painless. The reason I wanted to give another shout out to TruSmile is because of what happened during my last visit on July 20. I was running super late to make it to my appointment so decided to email Gina telling her my situation, I was going to reschedule (again...) and would pay for the no-show fees since it was my fault and didn't want to waste their time waiting on me. Gina was lightning quick in responding to me and talked to Dr. TruVan to see what they could do in this scenario. Since there was a big enough gap that day, they were able to accommodate with my situation and see me even if it was 40 minutes after my initial appointment time. I was so grateful for their willingness to stick around just to be flexible for me, and I'm sure for other clients as well. When I finally made it to the office, out of breath and all, everyone happily welcomed me and made sure I was okay by offering water and many thoughtful words. Dr. TruVan got my procedure done and I was in and out within an hour or so. A day later, Gina emailed to check-in on me to make sure the healing of my post-op was going okay. Never in my life have I had such a positive dental experience! Not only did they accommodate my work schedule (staying open a little past business hours to work in my appointment), but the staff is super friendly (knows you by name) & knowledgeable (cheerfully helps with insurance queries & addresses all dental concerns). Serious. dental. miracles. going on at TruSmiles! Dr. Truvan calls himself a "conservative," which I love. I went in just knowing that I needed a root canal. Dr. Truvan carefully examined my tooth & looked at x-rays before determining that was not, in fact, what I needed. What dentist turns down a potential root canal in favor of watching the tooth/potentially overlaying it instead?? A great dentist, that's who. They fixed my 2 small cavities & bonded my chipped front tooth for a very reasonable price, all in one visit. Like previously mentioned by other reviewers, I felt no pain at all during the procedure - not even an initial pinch when he administered the numbing shots. I went there for cleanind and dentist offered me filling. Even I did not have any pain he fix my filling and after that my life was ruind because now I cant eat anyting on that side.
