Reston Family Smiles was recommended to me by my endodontist, and it was an excellent…read morerecommendation. After two root canals through crowns, both teeth needed attention from a general practitioner, and Dr. Dee and her staff were fantastic. I was concerned I might have to replace the crowns, but Dr. Dee, after her exam, informed me all that I would need were permanent fillings, and she and her assistant, Ms. Sincere, went right to it. It was easy, painless and very quick....I was out in less than 45 minutes and all has been well since. Both Dr. Dee and Ms. Sincere were friendly, relatable, and very fun to be around. It made for a comfortable engagement. The way they engaged was professional and I never doubted their skill and knowledge. I should also mention Franco and Ashley, both of whom assisted me in the initial contact and arranging treatment. The treatment required coordination with my endodontist, and that went off without a hitch. The new patient forms were easy to access and complete and, having done those, the billing portion was also a breeze. A special nod to Franco, who ensured he made contact with me after several missed attempts. So friendly and kind. To top it off, the practice provides each new patient with a coffee mug filled with goodies and, later, a thank you card that, admittedly, was designed both to thank and promote the practice, but was still a nice touch.

I visited Reston Family Smiles after repeatedly receiving their new-patient flyers advertising a…read more$98 special that included an exam, X-rays, and cleaning. The exam and X-rays were fine. The receptionist and the gentleman who took my X-rays were friendly and professional. The problem started when it came to the cleaning. After I was already there, I was told that I supposedly needed a deep cleaning instead. They spent a significant amount of time explaining why I should get it, showing me pictures, and discussing information that was meant to convince me to pay for a much more expensive treatment, which I was told could cost around $1,400. I questioned why I was being asked to leave without receiving the cleaning that was advertised. Only then did the receptionist check with the hygienist. The hygienist eventually came in, but her attitude was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She clearly did not seem interested in performing the advertised cleaning. What I received was essentially a very brief polishing that lasted less than a minute. I did not receive what I understood to be a dental cleaning. That experience completely changed my opinion of the office. I have no problem with a dentist recommending additional treatment when it is genuinely necessary. What I do have a problem with is advertising a $98 new-patient cleaning, exam, and X-rays, getting the patient into the office, and then trying to replace the advertised cleaning with a much more expensive treatment. Based on my experience with this particular team, I would not return to Reston Family Smiles. I also would not feel comfortable trusting them with future dental or emergency care. The receptionist and X-ray technician were genuinely nice. Unfortunately, the experience with the hygienist and the way the advertised cleaning was handled completely outweighed the positive interactions.

Not to mention how often I had to take off of work for dental appointments. Long story short: my teeth and gums suck. After I had to get two of my front teeth removed (despite having multiple gum graphing, bone graphing, root canals, mitigating root resorption, to avoid having them pulled) Dr. Neshat was able to give my mouth, teeth, and gums new life. My past two dental insurances only cover this service for children 16 and under and is not covered for adults. The hygienist said it was covered and I ended up having to pay OOP. Two hygienists have verbalized it in this way. It's likely a 2 minute procedure that lets them make $40-50 hence why they do this. It's not a good business practice to not clearly and fully inform the patient. Parking is good, dentist is good. Equipment seems very updated and has the TV screen that you can watch from the chair. They seem to be taking COVID very seriously with precautions. Automated text appointment reminders are a plus. Their website for filling out forms and consistency/clarity of instructions is lacking. Also their tablets for filling out the information is not the most responsive.

Despite good dental health, I was fearful and hesitant find another dentist after transitioning to a new insurance plan and new work location (from Washington DC to Northern Virginia). I had been at my previous dentist for nearly 12 years. It turns out, change is good! I've found that those areas that were frequently listed as "watch and monitor" did in fact require action by way of filling. Listen, bad news doesn't get better with time when it comes to a weak spot in your tooth enamel. I found the staff to be very professional and incredibly personable! I saw Dr. Jenny Cheung. Dr. Cheung took the time to listen to my concerns (some aesthetic and some functional) and provided great advice and recommendations. I feel my smile is improved and I have a renewed interest in wearing my night guard each night (she found the right words to motivate me to form a new habit.) I loved how she used distraction techniques to minimize my thought of having a Novocain needle "pinch" or sting before getting a filling. The whole experience (from parking to payment was first rate.) The highlights: - Dr. Cheung has been on-time for both appointments (I was in the dental chair within 5 minutes of my appointment time). - The waiting area has current magazines to read (nobody likes to read magazines from 2013!) - The bathroom has toothbrushes and toothpaste for a quick freshen (for those post work/school appointments). - The front desk staff let me know an estimate of "patient responsibility" based on my insurance prior to making my follow-on appointment. This is huge to me as if I know I have a $2200 responsibility, I may choose to schedule a month or two out to avoid putting dental work on a credit card if at all possible. My situation wasn't bad at all, but I could certainly see where having the information up front could help a person plan for the necessary work. - Appointments can be made on ZocDoc (often times I work in cubicle land which doesn't allow for privacy at work, so having the ability to quietly schedule online is a bonus). - Free parking (my previous dentist was nearly $21 to park each time) I look forward to having a new 12 year relationship with a dentist! See you in 6 months!

I've had a significant amount of dental work over the course of my life, so I don't say that lightly. From the moment you walk in, the entire team is professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. They consistently provide thoughtful, careful care and make you feel completely comfortable and well-informed at every step. Their attention to detail and patient-centered approach truly sets them in their own league. Dr. Cheung is, hands down, the best dentist I have ever seen. I've undergone major restorative dental work with her, and her skill, precision, and expertise are extraordinary. Beyond her technical ability, she is compassionate, thorough, and takes the time to ensure you understand everything. You can tell she deeply cares about her patients and takes tremendous pride in her work. If you are considering switching dental practices, I highly recommend RDC without hesitation. I truly cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Cheung and her outstanding team. They are exceptional in every way.

I originally saw Dr. Delaney, then switched to Dr. McAndrew, and after she left, I happily returned to Dr. Delaney. One experience in particular earned my trust for life. Several years ago, a military dentist recommended that I get a root canal and crown. Wanting a second opinion, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Delaney. After a thorough examination, she recommended a simple filling instead. I followed her advice, and years later I've never had an issue with that tooth. It's refreshing to find a dentist who prioritizes what's best for the patient rather than recommending unnecessary procedures. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. Linda has been my hygienist for my last few visits, and she's fantastic. She's thorough, professional, and always offers practical, down-to-earth advice on ways I can improve my dental hygiene. I had shopped around and got what the younger generations call the 'ick' from several locations near my residence. Upon expanding my scope I discovered Parkway Dental. I now know that some incredible luck and blessings were responsible for this discovery. Dr. J and staff clearly have great working relationships. That's a super positive sign for me. They had great banter and camaraderie. When things are run well people genuinely reflect that in their outward interactions and I found it immediately comforting. Dr. J was honest about the difficulty of the procedure seeing as my tooth was highly entangled and crooked and a bunch of other things that neglect will do to your teeth. I'm honestly not sure how he was able to get the tooth out fully intact. His skill was clearly displayed. I seriously expected a much more painful experience, he even mentioned before that things would probably be traumatic. I can safely say it wasn't. It certainly wasn't pain free but considering my circumstances it went pretty much as perfectly as you could dream. So here's some big props to the crew at Parkway Dental. I highly recommend if you are looking for a dentist to give them a shot. And oh the dental chairs were very comfy.

I think it was the first time that I actually ENJOYED a visit to the dentist. Everyone was very friendly (in a genuine way), informative, and kind. From Rosa the office manager, to Katie the dental assistant, to Dr. Jung. I felt truly taken care of: Dr. Jung explained everything thoroughly and shed light on things no other dentist in the past several years has (e.g. insights on an old root canal, explanation of why my jaw sometimes pops, etc.) From the cleaning, to a filling during a visit the next day, both Dr. Jung and Katie worked thoroughly, carefully, and gently. I almost forgot I was getting dental work done. The office itself is clean and tidy, with relaxing music in the background. Rosa made sure I was comfortable prior to the visit, and afterwards carefully explained my bill, and was efficient in booking my next appointment. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to continuing my dental care at Parkway Dental, and will be referring all of my friends to this clinic.

Virginia Dental Solutions has gone through a major change in the last five or so years. The…read morepractice used to be focused on the patient; today's practice is totally focused on the business with patients coming in second, if not third. The issue at hand (and there are others) is patient's schedules change and when that happens, they are penalized because the office is not set up to accommodate customer issues such as a postponement of an appointment. This happens. Happening to me now. Was told by the office manager no available appointments. I make this statement as this is not the first time this has happened. Last time, perhaps two years ago for a hygentist visit and I had to wait 60 days on a wait list, and still no openings. Even went so far to suggest a recommendation for another dentist which I considered a last resort. Office didn't care and gave me a suggestion of another dental practice. I contacted Art Novick, retired owner, who said this was crazy and got me in literally the next day. And same for this appointment - postponed due to a personal schedule change. And this issue goes beyond a hygienist visit. Look at the testimonials. One of the first ones shares that a patient (David B) of Dr. Kendra Novick , whom he loved, had to postpone an appointment. The next scheduled appointment was six months or so off. He reluctantly left Virginia Dental Solutions for obvious reasons. And there are others - scroll down the testimonials. Folks, this is not the prior practice where I joined because of the primary attention to patients, even face and name recognition. Not so today. As shared, it is all about the practice/profit, not the patient. If I may boldly suggest a practice change - add another hygienist or when booking appointments for a hygienist, or a dentist, leave an opening here and there to accommodate patient schedule changes. I'm betting the practice will benefit from this change as the schedules will fill up and patients will not (be forced to) leave the practice. May I also suggest a change in demeanor. As shared, there used to be name/face recognition. Today, you are all but a number. And should you call in for an issue, beware as the manager has a script that is follows, even over-talking your concerns. I do hope this note is taken constructively, perhaps even a return call to share planned changes - though doubtful. I am scoring this as a one-star given the issues but there are still remnants of the prior practice that are much appreciated. Jeannie, Amber and Kendra are great. Always recognition and an accompanying smile. And super attention to your needs with superb dentistry. While a holdover from years past, others can learn from their prior approach to patients.
