I present to you the most hideous manicure I've ever received. Lumpy, bumpy garbage that I will be removing as soon as I get home. I had a gel removal plus regular polish placed. Normal practice to give my nails a rest between gel. Never once had this experience with regular polish over nails where gel has been removed. Nasty, rude and obnoxious man named Leon at the front insisting this is normal due to the texture of the nail after gel removal. I've been getting my nails done for around thirty years. The trends and products come and go. This nail salon has no OPI. They use Wave Gel. This is cheap crap that contains carcinogens and toxins unfortunately but many of the nail polishes do. This place is top tier without the overcharging that most salons have become victim to. It truly felt like a Spa experience. There was a slight wait, but Miguel made up for it! He went the extra mile, starting the service with apologies for the wait and offering to refresh my drink! However, the lovely host had already prepared the water, given me a complimentary drink and allowed me to experience an extended chair massage, so I was very pleased. I stopped by Vernis to get my eyebrows waxed before going grocery shopping. I checked in at the front desk and didn't have to wait long to be seen. The eyebrow waxing was $15.30 plus tip since I paid with a credit card. Amy did my eyebrows and she was amazing! She really took her time to make sure my eyebrows were even and to my liking. After she finished, she had me double check in the mirror to make sure I was satisfied. Also, I loved their waxing chairs! Once my manicure started I was honestly impressed by the speed and ease of the service. From the filing, cuticle cutting, and nail cleaning. I got cat eye and French. The issue. BEWARE!!! the 5 star reviews are inauthentic! They have signs up that say $5 if you give them a 5 star review. This is why they have such a good rating despite low quality service. I had a poor experience here. First and last time. My nail tech, Nancy (an older woman), became very short with me and was not professional. She inadequately removed my REGULAR sparkly nail polish with nail polish remover and a cotton ball. I knew it was going south the moment I saw there were still some sparkles and pieces of cotton ball attached to my nails. I asked for square with rounded corners, and what I got was closer to oval. I tried to tell her to file straight across to get the square, but she was not understanding what I was saying (language barrier). Aside from the language barrier, she was frustrated with how I kept checking my nails before putting them into the UV light (I was checking simply because she was doing a terrible job, and I had to keep pointing out things for her to fix, like severely uneven nails, hangnails, huge bubbles, particles in the polish, towel hairs in stuck to my nails, polish on my finger, etc). She was getting exhausted, as was I. Eventually she started smacking her tools down on the table and I think I saw her make eye contact with another nail tech and glare. I was nervous throughout the entire process; it was the opposite of relaxing. The lady at the desk gave me $16 off after I complained so I paid only $24 for my nails (it was just a gel manicure), and then the owner called me later to ask for more feedback and apologize. He said he would talk to that nail tech. Do not go to this salon! The first time I went, the nail tech that serviced me did not understand anything that I was asking of her. Despite me asking if I could speak with someone to provide further clarity, she refused. I showed her several pictures of an "inspiration look" and finally after 3 attempts, it was somewhat similar. I paid $79 for a fill-in. Approximately 12 days later from my service, one of my nails broke in half & I went back to get it fixed. The front desk quoted me $5 to fix it & when I went to the male nail tech, he charged me $10. While getting the nail fixed, the nail tech that originally did my nails was busy with another customer but did not know the color of the acrylic powder she used. She went and randomly picked one & it was not the same color. Despite the male tech knowing this and me verbally telling him the pinks were different, he proceeded to still do my nail while "gossiping" about it to a nail tech that was standing beside him the entire time. He ignored me while I was trying to ask him why & still proceeded to talk to the other nail techs. This salon is overpriced, the nail techs are inexperienced, and after this experience, I would highly recommend to go somewhere else. I found this place online today and saw pictures of nails that have been done there. They looked amazing! They also had a %15 off coupon for first time customers. So to start off this place was very beautiful and very clean. I went in and was greeted at the door. The older man was really nice. I signed in and was told to pick my color and I was immediately seated. The man who did my nails was nice, he asked if I would like something to drink, I said water (which I never got). I showed the reference picture but wanted a different color and rounder edges so they werent so sharp. The shape he did fine, its what I asked for. I asked to do sparkly as well and was told the glitter would look too thick so I said okay. I changed my color to a sparkly purple. The nail set color template looked like a dark purple with glitter. He put the polish on one nail and cured it. I realized after that it was a clear polish with purple glitter. You could see the tip of my nail under the glitter. I wanted full color. I could tell he was getting irritated because we had already cured one nail. I tried to explain how in the past I would get a colored tip and they would be able to make it sparkly. Apparently that was not possible so I went back to my original color and said forget the sparkles. I also wanted a nude base which didnt end up looking nude. He also inly did one coat for the tips and at other places they have done at least two.. now im not saying my experience was horrible but it does suck to have to leave without absolutely loving your nails.. my tips just dont even look close to what was in the picture as far as the polish tip line :( I like to try new nail places and mind you I RARELY get mine done so maybe my wording or communication was off, but I guess I thought a reference photo would be easy enough to execute. The first time, everything went smoothly -- my pedicure was done exactly as I asked, the shape was right, and the technician followed directions. That experience is the only reason I returned. This second visit? A complete disaster. The technician I got this time did not follow instructions at all. She decided on her own what shape my toes should be, ignoring everything I said. Then came the manicure -- French tips. And let me tell you, they looked ugly, uneven, and completely unprofessional. I have a personal rule: if I can do a better job than the so-called professional, then that person should not be considered a professional. I am not a nail tech, yet I'm confident I could have done better. I was exhausted and had already been sitting there far too long, so I finally told her, "I don't like it, but just keep it." My plan was simple -- I'd pay, walk out, and either come back another time or go to another salon and get a repaint. But instead of honoring that, she took it upon herself to remove the nail color entirely and start over -- without asking. I was stunned. First she chose the wrong shape for my toes, and now she was making executive decisions about my manicure. Completely out of line and incredibly frustrating. At that point I said, "Just leave the pink for the tips and let me go speak to the front desk." I truly expected that speaking to the manager would resolve things. Instead, I was met with indifference. He offered me a 10% discount -- the same discount I was already entitled to as a returning guest and educator. So now, I was expected to pay an outrageous amount for nails I did not like and never asked for. When I declined, they offered to take the nails off... which meant another 15 to 20 minutes of my time wasted, just sitting there for a removal. Still paid full price for the ugly pedicure. I was so annoyed that I did not ask for the 10% discount available. When it was all said and done, the manager handed me a card offering 10% off my next $100+ visit. I handed it right back. I will not be returning. Completely inconsistent service. Unprofessional behavior. Total disregard for the customer. I'm beyond disappointed. This was a waste of my time, money, and energy. I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere. They do not do a good job, and there is zero guarantee you'll get the same level of service twice. read more

Getting pedicure at Vernis for first time since they recently opened near my house. Was greeted promptly and nicely however once I sat in the chair and was assigned a technician, I wasn't feeling it. The technician (Tony) didn't greet me. Didn't ask if I wanted anything to drink. Didn't say a thing! He did ask me the color and if I wanted gel polish or regular. The water was cold so I asked another female tech if she could make the water hotter. She said Tony would do it. When Tony finally got to me I had to ask for hot water again. He went and got some hot water in a bowl and began pouring it in without saying "move your feet" or nothing! Good thing I was paying attention because he could've burned me! Anyhow it didn't get any better from there. He put the scrub on my legs and rubbed it for all of 10 seconds. I had no idea a basic pedicure could be so boring and uncomfortable. When he began massaging my leg he told me to relax. He said he couldn't massage my muscle if I don't relax. I responded by saying I was trying to relax. (DUH!). And when he said it he looked at me as if he was scolding me!! The nerve! (No tip for him!! And mind you, I'm an extraordinary tipper!) I was so turned off by anything he did from that point forward. The final product looks good. He actually put oil on my feet after polishing my toes. No one has ever done that before. But the entire experience was not good at all and I was expecting so much more from this new spot. Well I may come back and try another tech before completely ruling them out. But Tony needs some more training. It's really sad that people are in the service industry and don't know how to serve nor have a servant's heart. Tsk tsk! read more

I was so excited about this place, but unfortunately I will probably not be returning. The place is clean, everyone is very friendly, which of course is lovely. I went in for a full set with gel, and they were able to accommodate me right away. Typically a full set takes 45 minutes to an hour, but I was in and out in about 25 minutes. I was excited about this, but the quality was unfortunately terrible. I had never seen a liquid be used for a full set (as opposed to powder mixed with liquid) but I tried to trust the process. My manicurist did not have me cure my nails under the light for the whole minute, so that also could have been the issue. The results looked great, but by the time I was home (less than a mile away), 2 nails were already coming off on the sides. By the end of the day, I had to re-glue four nails. 24 hours after I was in for my full set, three of my nails fell fully off. Like, fell off my finger onto the ground in public. I am now walking around with nail glue in my pocket even though I spent $60 getting my nails done a few days ago. I don't know what the issue is, but I have been getting my nails done for over a decade and never had a set do this. Very, very disappointing. read more

I went here because they were doing a discount for their soft opening, but I will probably not go back. I got a pedicure (least expensive is $45) and gel manicure ($40). The pedicure looks ok, though not great. When the tech was buffing/filing my big toenail, she kept filing over the skin of my other toes as well. It didn't seem like a huge deal at the time; it just stung a lot when she sprayed alcohol on them. But after I left the salon my toes looked really red and raw like when you skin your knee on concrete. My manicure is pretty terrible. The color I chose was light, so she she did 3 coats, but didn't even it out at all. So the polish is super thick in some places, so thick It feels like I have on fake nails. And in other places, you can still see my nail bed through it. Some of the nails have polish over the cuticles and others look like they are already a few days grown out. Some of the nails are shaped strangely and uneven too. Another weird thing, when the tech accidentally got polish on my fingers, she used the cuticle cutters to cut the polish off my skin instead of remover/acetone and a brush like most salons would use. Again, I didn't think much of it at the time because it didn't hurt, but now I can see all these tiny chunks of skin missing on my fingertips. The only good thing about the manicure was that it was super fast, but I would have rather taken more time to do a better job. The staff was nice when I came in, and it's possible the other technicians are great, but I don't think I will give it another try. read more
