I don't know if anyone ever has a *great* experience at the cell phone store -- but I wanted to commend Mari for good service the other night. We came in with a phone with no service, waited a while for someone to see us. At least, they ask you what you're wearing so they can easily find you in the store when it's your turn. And we found an outlet so we could charge up while we waited. Mari did her best to fix our issue, trying everything possible. She wasn't successful (turned out, later, it was a busted antenna), but I was impressed that despite there being way too low a staff:customer ratio, she was able to juggle helping multiple people at once and treated us with patients and kindness. I would have been a lot more cranky in her situation! read more

I recently switched to Verizon Wireless and I already regret it. Verizon does not have 5G service in most of State College, although Verizon claims in their ads that 5G is rampant on their network. Nope! Not here ! The Verizon store on N Atherton St has 5G inside the store , so of course their phones are showing 5G inside the store . Once you leave the 5G bubble in the store, too bad , you're outta luck . We sold you a 5G phone and charging you an arm and a leg for a 5G network, but too bad so sad. I feel it's deceptive that the store shows you 5G in store and doesn't tell a customer until you go back and ask why is my iPhone15 Pro always on 4G. I was told "5G is coming here soon!". Yeah , so's the Easter Bunny! lol I'll go back to T-Mobile ! They have great 5G throughout State College , even in Toftrees! read more

verizon is a regret. scammers. I transferred my 3 numbers to verizon and wanted to return them because there was a network problem in my area. and they told me I would get a full refund. They charged me more than $643 in total for 10 days of use and only returned 46. even though I transferred my number to tmobile, they sent me a new bill for $60 the following month. they didn't refund me and sent me a new bill. this is ridiculous. I want to tell everyone around me about this and definitely prevent them from switching to verizon. read more

Beware: This company will screw over their customers any chance they get. Nothing is ever simple or straightforward with them. You'll have to do things "the Verizon way," which ALWAYS benefits the company at the customer's expense. Backstory: I was in the store this spring to upgrade my phone. The associate completely messed up the discounts, and my total monthly bill amount has been wrong since. Trying to get this straightened out has been a nightmare. I've been ignored and strung along by the manager, Jayme, more times than I can count. Getting her to return phone calls is like pulling teeth, and when you text her for assistance, half the time she ignores you completely or forgets to follow up. Not to mention the fact that you can't simply call the store for help ... you have to call Verizon corporate, who won't transfer you to your local branch anyway. The worst part is, Verizon has "no way to fix" the issue. I'm literally being told I cannot get the quoted bill amount I was promised when I upgraded my phone. Part of me wants to say I understand, but I truly don't. I don't understand how a manager or supervisor can't go into the system and make those changes. Verizon is "the best wireless company," but they can't go into their own system to fix a mistake that THEY made? WTF. I think the most frustrating part has been the poor customer service. I've been ignored and lied to. One of the worst parts was when the manager, Jayme, tried to pawn me off on some customer service rep that probably doesn't even live in this country. It's unreal -- you work with a manager for *months* to resolve an issue (that's their company's fault in the first place), and suddenly they're trying to pass you off to someone else. This is a copy of the last email attempt I had with "Cory" at Verizon Executive Offices. My attempt to rectify Verizon's disconnecting my phone, then demanding she "speak to me" on the phone about my complaint amounted to telephone tag and no resolution to Verizon's not only shutting off my phone, but eliminating the 13 hours of air time I had on my PRE PAID account. Here is my last email to Verizon: "This telephone tag nonsense is over. Your company shut off my cell phone because your auto pay system sucks and your customer service is non existent. Verizon Wireless is nothing but a SALES company whose only goal is to over charge people and squeeze the maximum amount of money you can get.Every time I went into your State College store to renew my yearly contract, your people tried to up-sell me a different phone and charge me by the month. You're not fooling anyone. Instead of resolving the problem, you insisted on speaking with me on the phone, apparently you want to sell me something other than what I had for the amount I was paying. I'd just like to speak up for this folks working in this store--the customers. while the staff were not helpful and also brusque, the other customers were able to help me. And I have paid this forward on at least one occasion to help a poor soul get in and out. And when a machine was broken the manager was able to-- in only 15 min.-- print out a receipt using another printer. I have to seriously consider going somewhere else..... I guess I'll try the mall again, but they replaced all their folks at one point. corporate needs to look into this store, they are giving verizon a bad name, unless I misunderstand what verizon attempts to provide. read more

Today I went to the Verizon store on N. Atherton, State College, PA. My (very quick and easy to schedule online appointment) was for 10:00 AM. I arrived at 9:40 and was warmly greeted at the door by one of the managers. He said that someone would be with me quickly. He was. Customer Service representative, JULIAN MARTINEZ, approached me with a smile and sat down beside me. He was FANTASTIC! It is rare to receive such excellent customer service in today's hurried world. With kindness and patience he guided me through the hoops required to transfer an AT&T device to a new Verizon phone, which was a gift from my son. There was no commission involved, as the phone was already purchased 3,000 miles away. Yet, I was treated as though I was purchasing the most expensive device and plan offered. I am an older woman, and, to say that I am not tech-savvy would be a gross understatement. Melissa who helped me was great. Paul, on the other hand, when asked for help by Melissa, ignored me completely and was extremely rude to her. He seemed fine helping the male associate and customer next to us, however. After Melissa followed him to re-ask the question, he gave the standard IT Crowd answer--to turn the phone off and on. My recommendation is to never come to this store. Idc if your phone is broken or your bleeding on the side of the road and need medical assistance don't come here. My sister came to get help with her phone because it was no longer turning on and needed authorization to get onto the account. I told them who I was(the owner of the account) and said is there anyway I can authorize her. I'm half way across the country in a army course I can't be there in person. The manager if you can even call him one said I needed to either come in person or go to my Verizon app and do it. I explained to him how I was out in the field and the connection here is terrible. You can text to a Authenticator message on my phone I can give it to you or any other way. He didn't give me an answer and basically brushed me off. They would not even help nor assist my sister without an authorization. Luckily we were at chow and I found a spot that had somewhat of a connection and added her onto my account after 20 minutes of searching because the instructions he gave me were useless. After I added her she went back up to the counter to get help but was told by the same manager to wait for the next staff. Meanwhile he's standing at the Corning of the front desk with his thumb up his ass looking at his iPad and essentially doing nothing for 10 minutes. Someone eventually got to my sister. But instead of helping they gave her a piece of paper and said call them for assistance. I could train a stray dog with 3 legs to hand paper out all day. And they would do it in less than 2 hours which is how ling she was at the store for. It's ridiculous you wait hours to get help and go through all the hassle just to get a piece of paper. Submitted online paperwork for trade in. Received a quote 4/22/19. Accepted quote. Got a Quote #. No return label received. Called back several times to inquire. On phone with rep for 30+ minutes each time. On 5/16, I was promised I'd receive the label in 3-4 weeks. It's now 6/27. No label. Now I'm told, there will be late charges applied so I won't receive the amount agreed upon. On hold again -- going on 30 minutes. How can it take this long to stick a label in the mail? What is wrong with this company? Automated replies tell me to contact the customer service department for resolution. This is laughable customer service. read more

I was very disappointed to find out the lack of ethics that the sales reps use as a tool to make their commissions in this store. I am even more so stunned by the management's lack of care that a paying longtime customer was mis-treated, that the manager decided not to speak with me in person and this has still not been resolved. About a month ago I went into this store with a broken phone looking to replace it. The fast talking salesman walked me around the store and told me that the iphone 6plus was the only way to go and that he had a great deal. He circled around answering my questions and was very "salesman-y". Finally when I got him to answer my questions to where I had a good handle on their edge program, I told him that I would go with the phone. He went back to get the phone and came out with a whole bundle of stuff that I did not ask for. At this time he explained that it comes with the package for customers who pay their bills on time, inferring that it was all included in my "edge" plan. When he brought up a ten dollar fee and line add for a tablet I explained that I did not need one, in which his response was that to receive the edge plan I was required to get a tablet and add a line (which I later found out is actually just a lie). Ok so ten bucks a month, why not for all of the free stuff. A month later comes and my bill has an extra $300 worth of charges on it! I went into the store and explained what had happened and let them know that I need to return the items that I was scammed into "buying" and expressed my concern over the lack of ethics. I was told that there was a $70 re-stocking fee for the tablet! At this point the gentleman taking care of me walked into the office (like at a car dealership) to speak with his manager. He came back out and told me that the manager said I could be issued a $50 credit if I kept the tablet! She didn't even have the decency to speak to me in person. As I was running late for a prior meeting I left with no resolution. When I came back a third time to ask to speak to the manager, I was told she was not there. When I explained my situation the gentleman said "oh wow, that's strange let's get this fixed". (Still no apology). He read his notes and said it looks like the store manager offered you to keep it for 50 dollars credit. I have asked to speak with the manager when she is back to resolve. It has been three days now and no call. Verizon, as a manager of a heavily customer service oriented business I am one hundred percent in awe of the lack of care for an employee so blatantly mistreating a customer and then on top of it, showing such a massive amount of disrespect and lack of care to not even speak with them. I hope that the right person sees this and fixes the culture issues at this store ASAP! read more

I had a horrid customer service experience here. (North Atherton State College) My boyfriend and I went to combine our plans. We were advised to get a business plan. We were there for 3 hours. Long story short: I paid "for the taxes" on two items called Hums. I also paid off my son's phone. I was told I was not allowed to just pay for my new iPhone X. So as advised, I paid $450 toward the phone. After 3 hours, we left. I got home and noticed my phone was neither getting texts nor able to make phone calls. One of the two salesmen gave me his business card. I called with a landline and left two messages. I used my phone to call *611 and was on the phone for another hour. The phone rep could not help me. She tried to help us activate my phone online. Didn't work. Next morning I tried to call the salesman again. I heard "mailbox is full." So we had no choice but to go back to this Verizon store. Neither of the two salesmen were there and luckily another associate got my phone activated. I complained to the manager on duty that day. What a joke. I heard "I'm sorry" many times and things like "we never make sure phones are activated before customers leave" and many other defensive comments like "yeah, it took three hours yesterday cause there were problems setting up your account." Lots of excuses. No solutions to the systems they have in place. Yesterday I looked online at my bill. It was WAY over. So I spent another 2.5 hours on the phone with customer service. And I found out that things the salesmen told me we're not true. I was told the Hums were $75. No. They are $125. That initial fee I paid was a down payment and tax. I also did pay off my phone that day. Anyway, lots of inconsistencies between what they said and what is on my bill. Seems like there must be some incentive for them to sell business packages. Oh, and the day we talked to the manager on duty he said he sent a message to the salesman who sold the business plan. He said that this guy would call me. He's the guy I already left messages for. Came here just 30mins after it opens, 8 customers were in the shop and two came after me. There were at least 5 workers and only 2 were actually helping someone, the rest two just stood and looked around ! I waited 25mins without any helped! Unfortunately this is the only store I could find in my area, I have to come here for service. If I have other options I would never come here! The worst Verizon store and service ever! So, I've been with verizon wireless for years and I had the pixel ordered & purchased through this store but had to have it home delivered via fedex because the one I wanted wasn't available in store. I came in to the store today because I needed help to activate my phone. The guy who checked me in was extremely condescending and stated "IT'S REALLY EASY TO DO"!!!! And we're not doing contact transfers etc. Today because it's black friday. Well, guess what there's no signage anywhere stating this. I thought it'd be a good idea to call the store where I'm to pick-up my phones to make sure they were ready. Ring. Recording after recording telling me how important my call is. I honestly think that was some of the best customer service I've ever received. He was knowledgeable, patient, and just a pleasure to work with. I came in to buy a phone case for my new phone, for something as simple as buying a phone case I had to check in with the front desk and wait to speak to a sales person, I knew what case I wanted and what phone I had. They keep the phone cases in the back and have a sales person bring them out to you, this normally would be fine if I was waited on right away. However after 15 minutes of waiting I decided to leave. Something as simple as picking up a phone case should not take more than 5 minutes, I went home and ordered it on Amazon and received it two days later. read more

I ordered an upgrade phone online, and selected "pick up at store" as the delivery option. I had no idea that this was essentially a trap set for the benefit of their commissioned in-store salespeople. Unless you enjoy things like timeshare sales pitches, do not select this option -- have the phone delivered to you. I am not kidding when I say that buying a car at a dealership is a more straightforward and trustworthy process. Yesterday I went to this store to pick up the new phone. The salesperson assigned to get my phone for me showed me my order and the phone was not what I had set up online. I am not perfect and I suppose I could have made a mistake, but the phone is a gift and I thought carefully about the color and I really don't think it was me. I suspect that the salesperson changed my web order himself, so he would have to start a new one and get the commission on the sale -- this is no skin off my nose but it made me wonder what was going to come next. I waited 20 minutes for him to come back with my phone -- it was a very busy pre-holiday weekend, but at this point I assumed all he had to do was go back and get the thing. When he returned he didn't just have the phone, but also a case, screen protectors and an iPad mini, all for me! He had set up various schemey sounding scenarios where I could get all of these accessories for free, which involved me buying the phone at full price on a payment plan, and Verizon essentially giving me money back for some reason. It made me even more uncomfortable when he admitted that the money-back deal was available even if I didn't spend it on accessories, or something like that. I don't know, by this time my head was spinning from all of the film-flam, and I just walked out the door after wasting half an hour with this guy. Again, I was only there to pick up the phone I had already purchased! Today I came back and told them I just want the phone and no monkey business. The manager pointed out to me that there actually are ways I could save money, and that is probably true, but I have no trust in them, and I have no idea what unintended consequences I would encounter if I signed on to one of these deals. I told him I will take my chances. He suggested I browse in the store while I waited for a sales rep, and I chose instead to stand outside in the cold rather than be in that store and deal with those people. It was clear to me that this was not an isolated incident. They were pulling the same snow job on everyone. You can't make any kind of transaction in the store without going through their three-card monte "customer service" rigamarole. I've been a Verizon customer for 15 years, and I have no intention of changing. Their system simply works well consistently, wherever I am. And fortunately, there is really no reason ever to set foot in one of their stores. Buy the phone online and set it up yourself. Buy the accessories somewhere else and save. If there was a better deal available for me that I walked away from, it certainly wasn't worth giving up the peace of mind I have, not worrying about how the upfront "savings" was all going to come back to bite me later. It's really too bad that Verizon does this. They have a good product, but for some reason they insist on ruining their reputation by running their store operation like they're in the mattress business. read more

I wish I would have remembered the names of all the people that helped me at this store. I have been to the mall several times and I will always go back to North Atherton Verizon that's the only store in our Area that is truly is Verizon. The other stores have the Verizon name but in my opinion they should not. They have bogus charges and one example is a SIM card , the store at the center of the mall at main enterance charges 25.00.. The one on the Sears side charges 10.00. North Atherton free. They all have only been kind and helpful. And when your reading the reviews look how old some or most of them are. I went to this store for advice on a broken prong on my IPhone 6 which would no longer charge. I was lied to and told there was no way this could be fixed. The salesman "Jay" should be fired!! He said I either had to pay $700 for a new phone or I could sign up for the new Hum product and cost of phone would be reduced to $350 and he would include a free Mophie charger which was a $130 dollar value. He actually threw my old phone with the otter box still on in the trash!! Thinking I was getting a deal I agreed. Several weeks later I got a bill for $500 dollars. So this made me irate.... I traveled to the Verizon store store spoke to another salesman who asked us to wait to speak to the manager. I waited over an hour and a half and then was told he was too busy and he would contact me. That never happened. So I emailed him twice and heard nothing, then I called manager "Frank". He did give me a refund on said free Mophie charger and told me he was going on vacation but the general manager would be contacting me.... It never happened. This is by far the worst service I have ever had and now I'm stuck with a product I don't want. Beware and stay far away from this store!! read more

Do not waste your time going here! I was told a 20 minute wait time that turned into 45. Ok, fine I was told by customer service that my issue (non working iPhone camera) could be addressed at the store and apparently so did the employee who 'checked me in' so I waited. When it was finally my turn I explained how I had spoken with customer service via phone about my issue and they said it was a warranty problem. Well, realizing no $ was going to be made from my visit the salesman told me they lied and that I needed an entirely new phone. I asked why I was told prior to waiting 45 minutes by the associate checking customers in this could be addressed there as well? No response. No help. He offered if I paid $149 they could send me a refurbished phone. Uhh, no thanks? The phone is less than 4 months old with a one year warranty so I called customer service back from the parking lot and will have a new phone arriving tomorrow via FedEx. I did not receive good service from this store. I had my upgrade available and wanted to get a new phone. However, I had a limited budget and was looking for a basic phone, with no data plan, that was under $30 with the update. I hate buying online, due to the impersonal experience, and really wanted to go in the store to buy my phone. My sales rep wasn't personally bad, but the information he gave me was. He said that they didn't carry any phones in store that met my criteria. The cheapest one was $70 and looked like a rock. Everything that was on display were smart phones, which was not something I was looking for. If you're looking for a smart phone for $200+ this place is for you. But if you're just looking for a basic, functional phone look somewhere else. read more
