I have two recent experiences with Coty Mull, the proprietor of this shop in downtown State College. First, I responded to a Craigslist ad and bought a MacBook Pro he had refurbished to like-new condition. Second, I referred a friend to him for an iPad screen and digitizer repair. Coty has solid tech credentials and experience to qualify him to work on anything electronic. He provides an excellent and needed service to the area because he is certified by Apple to perform warranty work. He also has CompTIA A+ certification, meaning he can fix Windows PC, laptops, whatever. He is competent and his repairs are fast and he actually knows what he's doing. He also cares about the quality of his work and practices "attention to detail". For example, when you buy a refurbished MacBook from him, he makes sure the OS is up-to-date. And it is CLEAN. Too many shops don't care what goes out the door. I highly recommend this shop. read more

A while back, I took a Macbook to Connecting Point to have the hinge on the screen fixed, but was told it was unable to be repaired, not to mention that all of my data had been lost during the "repair", which was absolutely ridiculous. Nonetheless, I purchased a new Macbook Pro because I needed a working laptop, but I still held onto my old Macbook. I recently took the old computer to Coty at Mull Information Systems to see if there was any possible way to salvage ANY of 3-4 years worth of documents and photos. He found that my hard drive was perfectly fine and all of my data was still there. Not only is Coty qualified and knowledgeable, but he has fantastic customer service skills and affordable services. I've gone here twice now, once for a broken iPhone camera and once for a Mac hard drive issue. For my phone, Coty fixed it while I was there and everything was great. For my Mac, I dropped it off in the morning (11:30am) and he had it fixed by 2:30 that day. He said he didn't have the exact part I needed but used a compatible one and gave me a discount for the different part. He's extremely nice and patient with people who are not technologically savvy. And extremely affordable for what he does. The ONLY downside is that the store is off the beaten path; the door is on the side of a building and the office is in the basement. But he makes the most of it with posters and a little lounge area. read more

This is now my third experience within 2 months with Coty and every time he has taken extremely great care of my iPhone 5s and me. The first time I cracked my screen I was back up and running in under 2 hours following an email to notify me of completion. The second time he remembered who I was, and offered me a discount because I was now a repeat customer. Today I went into MIS with another cracked screen and Coty assured me he would have me up and running by the end of the day, followed by a joke or two about how I should probably purchase a life proof case. Wow. What a find. My daughter was in town for a couple of days. Her macbook pro, which is probably 5 or 6 years old, needed a battery replacement, as the old one had swollen and broke the track pad. Based on the reviews, I emailed MIS, and they had a quote for me in no time. I dropped it off Thursday at 11:30 am and picked it up Friday at 1 pm. All the parts were in stock. New battery, track pad, and cracked screen replaced--all for $179. Absolutely amazing. This place is a real asset, and Coty is knowledgeable and great. Coty is literally a miracle worker. Another company destroyed my iPhone during a routine screen fix. What should have been a quick screen replacement turned out to be a 2 day project. Luckily, Coty knew exactly what he was doing and kept me in the loop by emailing me multiple times a day. I was hardly worried about it. My iPhone stopped working one morning almost completely out of nowhere. I took it to two repair shops that falsely told me that it was a problem with my screen, and I almost spent $90 to order a new one. I am so happy I took it to Coty to get a third opinion, because he recognized that it was a problem with the battery, and replaced not only that but also my stuck lock button all for much cheaper than what it would have been for a replacement screen. I recommended Coty to my roommate to get her screen fixed and her experience was great as well. read more

While I can generally fix some simple PC problems, my wife's computer would not launch Firefox. I thought I fixed that problem, but I apparently created another one with hyperlinks. Coty not only resolved that issue, but my wife's PC is now operating even faster than before. In short, the service was excellent and the price very reasonable. Cal B... Have dealt with Mull's twice with my Lenovo Yoga 2 pro laptop over the last 4 years. The first was a hard drive issue and Cody handled that with no problem. Recently he had to diagnose a start-up problem and needed to replace the motherboard. Fixed again and both times prices were very reasonable. Hope to get a few more years out of this aging computer. Highly recommend with easy parking. Also located in same building as the Marine Corps recruiter making it convenient for former Marines to grab some free swag! read more

I took my mother-in-law's laptop in to Coty because it was running really slowly and was having other major issues. Coty did a great job of explaining the problem and giving me a break down of the cost. He ended up having to replace the hard drive and now it works better than it did when it was new! Mull Information Systems is affordable and reliable. I brought my 2014 MacBook Pro to Coty because I spilled water on the trackpad and it wasn't working at all, and the cursor wasn't even working with an external mouse. Coty was very up front and transparent about the process, the timeline, and the price. The repair only took a few days and was around $108. I dropped my iPhone and broke the screen. Coty was referred to me by one of my IT friends. I called, and he had the correct screen in stock. He had my phone fixed in one hour flat! It's never a happy story when a pint of chocolate milk meets the keyboard of a 2-week old Macbook Pro. That said, Coty set us up with a realistic estimate and came in under that mark while preserving all the important data on the machine.
