I went with my friend over to AT&T. He decided to switch his plans and asked if I wanted to join his family plan. I showed the representative at AT&T how much I've been paying Verizon and they were shocked. I've been paying about $260 a month for two lines and that's after having taken certain services off because it was nearly $300 a month. Our phones are already paid off, have been paid off for a while. I was in Verizon a few months ago and no one told me that I could get a better price. So I assume this is just the price of cell phone service in the Bay Area. So we go to AT&T and they are gonna give us four lines for $120! That is $30 apiece with taxes it's about $40 apiece. The rep said I will have just the same services if not better. I have already switched over to AT&T and I am getting excellence Service. I feel like I'm leaving an abusive relationship with Verizon. I have been changed so much in fees for several years now. I am gonna be saving about $180 a month! The last time I went to Verizon on Lakeshore Avenue, the best thing the representative did there for me, which was actually annoying is take the cover off my phone, start rubbing it with her one and a half to 2 inch nails, started going to peel my EMF protector off and I told her please leave that. And that was it and then she put the cover back on. No mention a better rate. Especially because I've been a longtime customer. My experience at the Verizon store in El Cerrito Plaza was completely unacceptable, and it was entirely because of Daniel. When I first came in to sign up for my phone and internet service, the staff was welcoming. Once the contract was signed and everything changed. When I returned with questions about my service, Daniel treated me with open disrespect. Daniel ignored me when I walked into the store, even though I was clearly waiting for help. At the same time, he welcomed other customers and answered their questions politely. When I asked him questions, he was unwilling to answer, dismissive, and acted as if I was bothering him. Customers who came in after me asked him questions and received help immediately--while I was deliberately ignored. When I asked if someone else could help me, Daniel responded rudely and said, "People are in the back. They can come when they're ready," showing complete disregard for my time and concerns. Daniel's behavior felt intentional, degrading, and unprofessional. No customer should ever be treated this way--especially after committing to a contract and paying for service. I felt so uncomfortable and disrespected that I had to leave the store and go to another Verizon location, where I was treated with basic human respect. I made a purchase online. All I wanted to do was pick it up at the store, because I was going to be at work all day and didn't want someone to steal it off the porch. I assumed that the order would be ready when I got off work at 5pm. I didn't know that there was a way to follow my order. I also didn't think that there would be an issue since the item was obviously in stock at the store. I get there and I go to the lockers thinking that my order is ready. The store is FILLED with customers and only 3 staff members helping customers. The locker said that there was nothing available for me, so it places me in queue to talk to a staff member. Someone calls my name within 5 minutes and says there is an issue with order and it hasn't been fulfilled, that they have to "push it through". They tell me to come back in 20-30 minutes while they get it sorted. I come back. Another staff member calls my name, and grabs my iWatch form the back. She states that they had to cancel my previous order and place another order so that my transaction could be processed. I ask if the "$200 off promotion" would still be connected to my purchase. "You'll have to call customer service to make sure". I'm sorry, but no one wants to talk to customer service over the phone. While Verizon Customer Service is pretty good, no one wants to be pushed back and forth between departments to resolve an issue. They tried to upsell me on a "Priority Upgrade", I kindly rejected the offer (I had already decided prior that I wasn't going to upgrade to the iPhone 16). I left the store feeling a little taken advantage of, because it felt like they did all this so that the store could get the sale credit. If you are looking to just flat out buy a phone, go ahead and go to the store. I personally would just do everything online, and chance it being porch pirated. read more

Verizon charges a lot for poor customer service. An line holder on my account was away from home when the sim card died. They want the balance paid before offering customer service. Even though the payment is scheduled to process in 4 days. They have over charged for years. I have tolerated it because I wanted consistent service for my family. However, my family isn't getting service. Now I have been on hold for over an hour. My family is waiting in the store for me to get the billing matter resolved. This is a huge waste of time. I just have to take a moment to shout out Martin! He's an amazing sales associate. I walked into the store on a bit of a downer because my phone had a tragic run-in with a car in the crosswalk. I had no idea it had slipped out of my pocket when I dashed across the street! But then Martin came to my rescue! He guided me through all of the latest iPhones and helped me pick one that fit my budget, storage needs, and what I was looking for. Despite it being the end of the day, she was so helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and creative in trouble shooting my issues - it really made a huge difference in my experience - and my ability to use my phone! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the store was crowded and there were not enough employees so I had to wait 20-25 minutes despite having an appointment. This location has always been a favorite of mine but today I want to commend Shaakira and Omar in particular. The last time I was there it was to put in a claim for a lost with my insurance. It turned out to be rather convoluted process because I also wanted to have an interim phone till the new one came. Between Omar processing the claim and Shakira restoring all my information to my current phone with such grace and kindness and competence, I couldn't be happier. Listen this is by far the worst Verizon store. Does not matter what time of day you go. No one greets you for over 5 minutes. The employees take *forever* the work with people as in 1-3 hours to try to upsell instead of working on the line of people waiting. I went in with a basic account question 40 minutes later they are still working with the same 3 customers that were there when I arrived. Meanwhile I have seen 2 other employees just coming in and out the back area not helping people just in the back ‍ save your self time and just avoid Verizon all together. read more

Thus, we stopped in at this Verizon store to purchase a stylus. Customer service was good. Female employee was friendly and helpful. My husband purchased a combo stylus/pen. I hope he does not lose this stylus. He has lost many in the past. Too bad they don't have a stylus hooked on a lanyard to carry around his neck. Street parking near this Verizon can be problematic if one is shopping, dining and/or taking care of business at the banks (Chase, Wells Fargo), paying phone bill or seeing an eye doctor. However, there is plenty of parking in the lot behind the building, which is convenient. read more

Verizon began ripping me off ever since we paid $100 a month for Europe coverage. They wouldn't take the plan off and made me call to stop it four times, stealing an extra $100 in the end. Then they made my bill go up $25 to $250 ever after. They take auto payments from my bank and if I try to put them on a credit card to stop payment and dispute charges my bill goes up $40 a month. But what finally pushed me over the edge was them charging me for phone service $15 a month for my watch for a line that never worked for over a year. I also paid for Asurion insurance to protect our phones and my watch and iPad-- the reason our plan is expensive but they sent broken and used replacements almost routinely causing us to have to return equipment. I called to complain that they owed me a refund for $15 x 12 months for a watch that never was able to make calls. They shipped me a super old used watch on condition that I upgrade to $25 more a month for coverage for our laptops. As I write this I am embarrassed at what a sucker and dupe I've been!!! Now I have to spend countless more hours fighting them for refunds and sending back the watch so they don't charge me $500 or whatever they think they can gouge me for. And fighting to get plans removed and my money refunded for the $15 x 12 months of overcharge. If you want to waste long hours, increase frustration and cortisol levels while enriching a greedy corporation at your own rápense, Verizon is the plan for you! read more

This place is a menace to our neighborhood. They installed a motion sensor alarm that sounds like an air raid siren, and can be heard for half a mile in all directions. It goes off over a dozen times, at completely random intervals, from 7PM to 7AM every night. They have no consideration for the community around them. I haven't slept in 4 days. Not to mention that if an actual emergency happens, our neighborhood likely won't be alerted since this terrible business with zero care for the community has us all hearing a constant air raid siren. read more

I went to Oakland Lakeshore Verizon office at 6:30 pm last week. The door was locked. The female worker said after 6:30 is by appointments only. The hours on the website shown close at 7pm. She said they are under staff. She and another staff were helping 2 customers already. I would have to come another day. I told me I can wait in case she finished with her customer earlier, perhaps she can help me. She said no. I have to come back another day. There was no sign anywhere indicating on the front door that is by appointments only after 6:30 pm. She was absolutely unaccommodating! read more

Stellar customer service. Went in on a Saturday afternoon looking for a new phone. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Graham who was cordial and professional. He pointed me to the section that I was interested in and let me know that should I have any questions that he would be around. As I had some questions, Graham was more then helpful to provide all the information I needed as well as giving me options on getting the exact phone I wanted. Unfortunately the store did not have the color of the phone I wanted thus I left empty handed. None the less my visit was absolutely pleasant and helpful all due to Graham's professional courtesy and knowledge. Went in the store to compare iPhone models, I was debating between the pro max and the regular size. The phones are bolted to the wall. They would not let me hold the phone to determine what size I wanted to get. They would not unbolt it from the wall, so I was unable to hold it in my hand to see if the larger size would be OK for me. Absolutely unacceptable. If the Apple Store has figured it out how to deter crime and let a customer hold a phone, Verizon should be able to as well. read more

I lost my phone camping and rushed back to be able to buy a new phone. I showed up on July 16th, 22 minutes before closing time and the two young workers had decided to already close out the system. That meant that I couldn't buy a new phone and the other location, like Best Buy and the Apple Store were going to close before I could make it in time. read more

When I came to the store today , they couldn't find the order. Then I called the customer service at 5 pm and I am still on hold is 6:50 , I have been transferred back forth 4 times, and here they closing the store . I'm still on hold more than 50 minutes.. These people lie to customers and give customers run around after the sale . They get you hooked, then they give you shit . I was with T Mobil for many years, had no problems. I ordered an iPhone over the phone, went to the store to pick it up the next day. Store staff said the phone was not ready to pick up and Verizon will email me when it is ready. I checked my email many times every day, got none. I checked online status of the order; it showed not ready for pickup. This morning, on the fourth day after my order, an email notified me the cancellation of my order. I called Verizon Customer support, Samantha, an agent, told me that the order was order was automatically cancelled when it was not picked up after three days. Not helpful at all. I went in and it took a little to be helped and then the woman who was going to help me started helping the person who came in after me until I made her aware that I was actually next in line. I told her I was a teacher and that I had recently applied my discount to my family's plan and just wanted to make sure everything was showing up correctly. She just asked me how long ago I had applied and I told her 2 days ago and she said it's too early and that it'll show up in 2 bill cycles. I asked her how long that could be and she kept repeating, probably 4 times, that it was up to 2 bill cycles. I finally said, that I understand that it's up to 2 bill cycles, but that's not clearing anything up for me. Should I expect it one month from now? 2 months from now? And she finally said up to 2 months from now, but I swear to god it was like pulling teeth for an answer that could have taken 2 seconds. Extremely disagreeable experience. She didn't have any sort of identification, but she looked like a bitter old woman. Will not be coming back to this location. read more

My service with Verizon phone support and now their in-store support has been abysmal. After schlepping1/2 hour to the local store, I was told by the staff that I needed to make an appointment-- Verizon's new policy to ensure social distancing. The manager blindly trumpeted the policy repeatedly, w/o regard to the fact that there 4+ employees available employees and only 1 other customer. Rather than using logic and judgment that my cat could muster up, the manager persisted. Additionally, the other female employee in the store has also been (to put it charitably) uncongenial during my other visits (my phone and service has had more issues than the NY Times) -- acting more like a bouncer, than a customer service representative. There are too many cellphone service providers to settle for this. And there are too many people out of work, for these monsters to be Verizon reps. I was frustrated and on the brink of changing over from Verizon to T-Mobile when I walked into this store. Even when I first arrived I was turned off by the fact that I was overlooked by employees until a woman named Jackie came out from the back and immediately noticed how frustrated I had become. She assured me that she would do her best to solve my problem. I explained to her the nature of my problem and she began to break it down into manageable components and solved the issue in no time. I was truly happy with her customer service. Until that moment I was very upset with Verizon and their customer support and was ready to start looking at alternative solutions. Singularly the WORST customer service experience I've had in 25 years. I can't even REMEMBER the last time I had such a careless, disinterested, and unhelpful "customer service rep" give me such BAD service. Didn't offer me a single piece of advice or information about any of the options; sent me home with the wrong power cord; was completely unhelpful - basically, "go home and figure it out" attitude. Staff ignored us for 15 minutes and then were attentive to the next person who came in. It felt intentional. We asked for a particular model and were shamed for wanting something small and older. "That's in the safe. You'll have to wait 10+ minutes for us to get it." No cases or screen protectors for the phone we wanted, and the staff made us feel like we were imposing on them to try and buy stuff. Look...whatever. Yeah, we want a smaller phone than is offered. GOOD customer service reps would have inquired what our needs were, offered alternatives, shown us how the newer one had features that made up for what was missing. Y'know...SELL US SOMETHING.
