Someone please coach Raul on customer service. We're in Oak Brook, not the city, the wieners circle customer service don't work here. Purchased an accessory online as a gift for one of my nephews, website said it would be ready by 10am, had a pretty free morning, waited around... nothing. called at 1pm was told to wait for a minute while they find it and within a minute it became ready for pickup. Got to the store to pick it up, was given an open box. When I brought it up to their attention they said that it was on sale because it's an open box, even though I purchased a new product online. Raul who was not a part of my transaction kept jumping in with smart remarks mentioning that if he received an open box as a gift he would be very happy with it, and that it was on discount because it was opened. Meanwhile, another employee in the peanut gallery chimed in that they often arrive opened directly from Apple. Lots of peanut gallery comments in this interaction while the person helping me was checking for another case. Asked for them to just return and refund as I'm really not a fan of the smart ass comments, one of the guys working offered to swap for a different color, I declined and they proceeded to attempt a return. It was just an attempt though as they claimed that their system would allow the return but it was not going through. They told me they could mail me a check weeks later but refund to PayPal was not possible. The person who was now working with me offered again to swap to a different color, at this point I just want to leave this place and their poor customer service so I accept the swap. Forward 20 min they can't do that either (not sure why they offer something more then once before seeing if they can even do it). Ended up there for over an hr and a half with one employee calling core and being cold transferred between departments and what seemed like an AI service agents. I'm glad I'm not a Verizon customer, it seems like this was a regular thing for people who place orders but aren't active customers. Overall Verizon is exactly what comes to mind when u think of bad customer service along with piss poor back end systems so that when you buy things from Verizon the back and system is too incompetent to be able to reverse or refund a transaction. I smell a class action lawsuit possible here but that's none of my business. lol. Ended up wasting an hour and a half, going to just dispute on PayPal and let Verizon recover their product. Worst case, it was a lesson which cost me more in time and patience then anything else. PLEASE STAY AWAY from Verizon if you are not a wireless customer of theirs. read more

I really wish the Verizon would have started a new Yelp entry when they moved. This franchise a far superior to the way the previous franchise was operated. If you look back through my reviews, the "bad" reviews are from the previous location, but the "newer" reviews are in their new location. Case in point, last month I purchase a new phone complete with a 3 part "ad on" ($128) that included a 20W adapter. It has not worked correctly since I bought it but I have not been up there with it to return it, until today. I walked in an explained my situation to Oz, my favorite employee, and he simply replaced the malfunctioning adapter. "As it should be" you might say. I would agree with that statement, but that's not always how things go. Certainly not at the previous franchise but this one is "new and improved". If you are looking for a caring Verizon, try this one. It works for me. read more

A lot of staff & technology, but not a whole lot of help. Initially tried to call in to see if they had inventory on a particular phone I was looking for. Verizon's automated call system doesn't put you in touch directly with someone at the store but tries to direct you to an appropriate resource with some questions. After punching some numbers in response, the automated system told me all staff was assisting other guests at the moment. Lame. After poking around on the website and not being able to tell if a product was available in store, I ended up just creating an appointment to visit and check. Arrived a few minutes later to find a pretty empty store helping one guy and 4 staff members just standing around. How odd, your automated phone assistant told me otherwise. While I was quickly helped upon entering the store, the gentleman assisting me was prompt to gather some info and asked a few questions to try and upsell me on some other products and services before eventually made his way back to grab the phone I was interested in. After waiting a few minutes, ends up coming back out empty handed. In short, I think this entire shopping experience could been a lot better if both myself and the tech helping me could have easily seen what was in stock at the store from the computer/tablet. But here I am with 1 hour of my time gone spent trying to poke around online, waiting on the phone, and visiting in person empty handed. Nice. 'Til next time. No cheers. read more

If I could give this store location and Verizon 0 STARS, I would. I purchased an iPhone 11 6 months ago. My phone malfunctioned a day before Christmas Eve. THE PHONE FROZE UP AND A WHITE APPLE LOGO IS ON IT, REFUSE TO CHARGE AND NO WATER DAMAGE! I visited 3 stores, desperate for help and was told to go online to file a claim. They couldn't swap out phones at a store because I had a "on the back of my phone had a scratch the size of a quarter "apparently my phone is is CRACKED. Apple confirmed the FROZEN LOGO ON MY PHONE is manufacturing issue and not MY FAULT! The phone is a DUD! I had to drag my sick two- year-old Son into these stores and BEG for help and to no avail, except one representative suggested I could pay 700.00 upgrade! I'm sickened by this company!!! A nighmare!!! A disgrace! I've filed 4 claims and only received an email!! I I STILL DO NOT HAVE A PHONE. DO NOT USE THE VERIZON STORE AT 1404 BUTTERFIELD RD IN DOWNERS GROVE ILLINOIS or when they move to their new location by COSTCO! Verizon just lost an original customer and anyone else that reads this post most likely. The long story short is my most recent transaction on Friday was just about completed when an elderly woman came in to the counter next to me. Her greedy associate informed her that her phone was no good for the "great" deal they were offering. She was purchasing the 14. I asked my associate if I could gift her an extra phone that I had worth $450 and he replied yes. A kind gesture in a time where kindness and " nice" is at an all time low! Her associate told me to mind my own business as I handed her the phone and that he wanted to get her finished and out, without my gift of course! The manager stormed up in my face and told me to leave the store now! He then hung up the phone that was completing the transaction on my first responder wife's phone! I tried explaining that she is on call and must have her phone and he walked away telling me to leave and phoned the police. You can't make this up. The police arrived 30 minutes later and he ran outside, I followed, with my cane as I am disabled and a veteran I should add. He started lying to the police and telling them I was using profanity etc, when this kind elderly woman, walked up from behind, yes, she waited, and interrupted the manager to state the reason she stayed was for this specifically. She told the officer that she could not believe how calm I was and that at no time did I use profanity. That was very kind of her because in this world, we are all alone in this kind of insanity. I was told to leave and that they would not let me return the phone there and to go to Yorktown. As I walked in the Yorktown store the woman said into the phone that he is here now. She told me 1 to 1 1/2 hour wait. There was one person in the store. I realized what occurred and looked up the closest corporate store miles away in Naperville. Naperville took the return and assured me that my doing so would correct everything. It did not. I wrote the CEO a message with no response and also the Director of Sales, no response. 3 days later Verizon somehow managed to have our phones turned off even though we were with Xfinity. Sadly my wife will use my phone with none of her contacts until her new one arrives next week. All in I have spent 18+ hours on this and Verizon will not give us back her number. Makes you wonder who, what, when, where, and how!! We are at their mercy and it really stinks. All I tried to do was gift someone $450. Very sad and shame on Verizon for blatantly taking advantage of an elderly woman and me for that matter. Never again! read more

Here is a first for me, a short, spite-filled review. Went in with my friend who was in town who had spent $700+ and signed a new contract the month before. The new phone was a lemon, wanted to get a different phone or just a replacement of same model. Salesman said can't do it, the system won't let me. OK, so there is the manager, I see him in the back and call him over. Now, back in my younger days I was a retail assistant manager and the drill was that line employees go by the book, but to solve a problem they kick it up to a manager and we could use our discretion to do what it took to help customers with reasonable problems. SO, here is one thing that a manager should never say: "The system won't let me." So you have the exact same phone in stock, several, and you have a customer hundreds of miles from home without a functioning phone standing in front of you. And you can see that they just got the phone, just signed a contract, and what do you do? Send them out the door with a non-functioning phone, tell them a new one will be in the mail to their house a thousand miles away, and repeat "the system won't let me." That is not a manager, that is a eunuch. A real manager would swap the SIM card into a replacement phone, send the person out the door satisfied, and then deal with corporate as to why their exercised their discretion to do this. Disgraceful, he knew it, he wouldn't even look us in the eye as he kept rattling on about the system. read more

Went with my brother-in-law to Verizon so he could pay off him iPhone 6 and upgrade. The guy helping us was a real tool. The battery in the phone will not hold a charge. The "genius" at Verizon told him it was because he texted too much and used the flashlight. The phone is two years old. The battery won't hold a charge because it's been power cycled a lot. The lithium ion batteries will not last forever. The guy was't even aware of Apples battery replacement program that was recently introduced. They had no phones in stock, so I pulled out my phone, opened the Apple shopping app and took a look to see what phone were available at the Oakbrook store. The Verizon guy said that I wouldn't be able to see if there was availability of product at the Apple store. So I picked a phone and showed him that indeed there was availability. I then said the my bro-in-law, "lets go buy you a new phone at Apple". Verizon lost a sale because their guy didn't know what he was talking about. Also, you can't buy a phone there using multiple forms of payment. At Apple, the gift cards and his debit card worked perfectly fine. Won't ever buy anything direc from Verizon again. Just to be clear, I did not ask the Verizon guy to check Apple's stock. I checked it myself using my phone. The Verizon store was out of iPhones. The Verizon guy said that I would not be able to see if a phone was in stock at the Oakbrook Apple store. I showed him how simple it was to see if a selected phone were in stock. read more

Went in today, and this lady didn't know a thing, I asked her why my pictures were cutting off since she said it was the size of the picture itself, but I don't think that it is true I use messenger and she as no experience in messenger are you kidding me. You work for a phone company you supposed to know this stuff, and I have my phone for three years and it should been paid off, you don't know anything why are you even working for a phone company if you don't know anything. I went to this location after the first store I went to in short did not want to help me with my problem of activating my new phone and told me some BS to shoe me away. I told the rep that was working with and the manager at the Downers Grove location my store and they were more than happy to help. I went to this Verizon store after receiving terrible service at the Willowbrook store. There was a line and with social distancing it was quite long. It was cold and raining. At one point one of the employees cane out and suggested we wait in our cars and she would flag us in . Worked great! Employee Erika assisted me, it took awhile but she respected my concerns as a I needed my phone for work as a health care provider. After having my mobile service for many years, I switched from Tmobile on May 23rd and went to Verizon because I understood the coverage area would be better. Boy do I regret it. I have submitted my paperwork over a dozen times during the past 3 months and have only been given $85 for the value of the old phone. The promotion that finally sold me (reimbursement upto $650 for my final bill and the value of my iphone) has left me with a final bill of $451, frustration, an endless stream of calls to their rebate center (that apparently doesn't have management nor can they communicate internally between departments), wasted time and now a call from a bill collector. My recourse is to warn other consumers. Learn from my experience and don't be fooled. If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is. read more

I told them I've read it could be the battery and asked if we could swap one out to see if that was it and they told me "no". They DID tell me I can buy a new phone, but of couse they did. Wish I had at least one good thing to say about this place but I don't. Unfortunate I wasted my time here standing in line trying to get the new iPhone, only to find out I couldn't be helped. I stood in line and the line was not very long. A guy came out handing out forms for people to fill out what kind of iPhone they wanted, size color, etc. I filled out the form and stood in line and then a lady behind me asked about the gold. He told her they didn't have any and neither did the Apple store. Of course I called the apple store to see if I could call his bluff but their phones were off as it was only 8 something at the time and I assumed their phones were off until 10 because of the amount of people they had waiting to buy. I asked the guy if I'd still be able to go in and order the phone. He said yes that's fine. So I waited...and waited. Finally it was my turn, I was excited....and then I get let down. The guy tells me the phone is not out yet and there's no way to order it. That didn't make sense to me cuz I always investigate. I saw it online but I never want through with the order. I said why not? He goes, it's not available yet. I asked why the guy in the line didn't tell me that and had me waiting out there. "He said I'm not sure if you told him you wanted gold but..." "No I told him". "Ohh... Well we have gray.." "No I'm not doing that, am at least able to pay my bill and transfer my upgrade then?" "Are you getting the gray one?" "NO". "Then I don't see why you'd want to do the transfer now you can just..." Ok I'd had enough at this point and I thanked him and walked out. Now, tell me why I was able to do ALL that I asked him for on my computer in 10 minutes. And I ordered the phone from the Verizon website! Clearly you guys aren't the brightest crayons in the box. Fell in a lake last weekend & my phone died. Put it in a bowl of rice, tried everything, it wouldn't come back on no matter how many times I tried. Went to this location as it is right down the street. Long story short, came away as impressed as possible with Munir, the sales associate who helped me. He listened, explained, and answered all my novice-level questions quickly and concisely. It took him about 10 min to understand my situation, explain my options, and give me good advice. Anyone else & I would have been there for 45 min, easy. No guilt trip about not having an insurance/security plan, no hard pressure up-sell, no arrogance from him (someone who knows everything) to me (idiot who fell out of a canoe & knows next to nothing). He's just a good guy who seemed to genuinely care about my situation & wanted to help. Oh, my last question to him was if there was any hope for my dead phone. His response was, "I don't know... let me get a cord." He plugged it in, and as we continued to speak IT TURNED ON! Like Frankenstein, it was back from the dead! While this meant no sale for Munir, he was still almost as happy for me as I was. Thank you, Munir, for essentially plugging in my phone, but also for being professional, empathetic, extremely knowledgable, and an overall good dude. You made my day. read more

I'm shocked this store doesn't have a higher average! I have been to this store twice in the past two months and both of my experiences were extremely positive. So positive that I'm writing a yelp review of a phone store even though I don't really think of phone stores as the sort of thing someone consults yelp for. You just sort of go to the closest [insert your provider here] store when you need to, right? Well I can honestly say I will probably continue to go to this specific Verizon store even though it is not the closest store to my home or my office. I feel like that's all the review you need, right? That I will drive out of my way to go to this one specific Verizon store. I've been a Verizon customer for over 10 years and during that time I have lived in 5 different cities, so I have gone to a lot of different stores. My experiences have ranged from totally uneventful to completely terrible. I didn't think phone store visits came in any other variety. Apparently I was wrong. Both of my visits to this Verizon were fantastic. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. They went out of their way to make sure the whole process of switching from one phone to another was as easy and inexpensive as possible. After my first visit, I thought it was just a fluke and I had just been helped by an unusually helpful sales person. But it was so nice that when I needed to return to a Verizon store a few weeks later, I drove out of my way and returned to this location. My second visit was just as good! At the end my second totally lovely visit, I was feeling kind of amazed at how pleasant the whole thing was and I actually said something to the girl ringing me up. Just some lame comment/joke about how unusually helpful their store is. The very gruff gentleman standing next to me overheard and said "Oh. Absolutely. This is the only Verizon store worth going to. Every other store makes me want to choke someone out." So there you have it. read more

Out of town for a work event and on the way my iPhone completely froze. Could not power down. Rushing to find a Verizon store before my event started and no stores opened before 11am. I needed one now! Found one in Glen Ellyn,however, when I arrived there was no such store. So the I found that the Downers Grove location also opened at 10am! I park and walk to the door to see a posted sign that says "as of Feb new hours 11am" I see two guys with Verizon badges walking toward the door and I stop them asking to please please help me out and if they could look at my iPhone as again I'm out of town for two days and my kids won't be able to get a hold of me. They so kindly asked what it was doing and was able to manually reset my iPhone. For anyone who else with this issue, won't power down.. you push the volume up button, then the volume down button and then the side power button! Thank you again to the two men that saved the day! DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE!! Completely agree with Christopher K. and Ghs...do not ever shop at this location. The managers are completely useless and rude so how do you think the employees will treat you? If I could give negative stars this store would get as many as I could give. Bought a new iPhone 5 for the wife on a Tuesday. Took it home and charged it...it dies within a hour. She goes back the next day to the store and the tech told her to try charging it over night with it off, if that doesn't work then bring it back. Did so and still dies really fast. Took it back today. They tell her that they won't swap out the phone because it may be a app that she uses that is killing the battery...plus the tech that helped her the other day didn't note it in our account. My wife says I have been at work all day and couldn't even use the phone. They say, "how do I know, you could be lying." They proceed to tell her if there really is a problem that she needs to take the phone to a Apple store. He says because "I am not a Apple expert and know nothing about Apple phones." She says she wants to return the phone then and he says she has to go home and get the box then. So on the way home she calls Verizon Corporate office to complain at how rude the person at the store was. The corporate office representative says that is unbelievable and completely wrong...that he should have swapped the phone immediately. The representative calls the store to tell him to swap the phone out...he says no and is rude to her as well. The representative calls her supervisor to talk to the store manager to tell him to swap the phone out. He says no and is rude to him as well. So the corporate office is shipping us a new phone over night free of charge. By the way, the guy at the store is the manager of the store. This "store manager" told the corporate office representative, as a threat, that he would also charge us a restocking fee if we come back to return the phone. Matt Sabin is the name of the store manager. When we returned the phone he was smug and being nice in a obvious fake manner. He re-activated her old phone. As soon as she left my wife tried to use the phone and it kept asking for a credit card number. So then when she took it back into the store the "manager" rolled his eyes and said "now what?" Then he fixed the phone. So the corporate representative had told us that we should tell the district supervisor to the store what happened and how we were treated. So I call the store back and ask for the name and number to the district supervisor. They refuse to give me the information because it is a security issue...true story. Verizon credited us the restocking fee. The representative was helpful and friendly so obviously it is a store issue and not a company one. But I feel the store represents the company. My wife and I have had Verizon since highschool and this specific store is the only one my wife has ever shopped at...even when we lived in Arlington Heights she made me go to this store because she felt they were actually friendly. We have bought approximately 15-20 phones from this location, with all the accessories that come with buying a new phone, and this is how they treat loyal customers to their location. Apparently a lot can change in a year. I am thinking of changing my entire family's phones to Sprint or At&t (9 lines). read more

Don't believe the 1-star or less ratings!!! The employees here are WONDERFUL. I lost my phone right before traveling from Phoenix to Chicago, and as you can imagine, was "lost" without my phone especially while traveling out of state. After going to another Verizon store in the area a day prior, and being told their Internet service was down and it could be "hours before they could help me", I chose this location based on the hotel I was staying, and the proximity to it. Boy am I ever glad I chose THIS location! Jen greeted me with a friendly and welcoming smile, and when I told her my dilemma of losing my phone back home, she immediately sympathized with me, and walked me through the steps of logging into the Cloud on the store's computers to ensure my lost phone was backed up to the Cloud (and all my personal information was accessible). She then offered me the "next steps" of what my options could be and turned me over to Tom. Tom was EXTREMELY patient and helpful, and thankfully due to an upgrade I was due on my account, was able to get me a brand new phone and ensured that all of my personal contacts, photos, financial, life saving information was carried over to my new phone. Thank you Jen Solesky and Tom Gustave! You both made my trip a much LESS stressful and much MORE enjoyable time! read more

No, not all Verizon stores are created equal. There are two stores located within a few miles of my house but I choose to drive out of my way to this store because they actually help me. Yes, I know they work on commission and instead of appearing like hungry sharks pushing you to upgrade they use a more honest approach asking questions like what do you use your device, etc. I never feel pushed, rushed or grossed out by overzealous sales people here and was impressed when the same guy who helped me with my last phone after two years still works there. read more

wish there were zero stars. For the last month, I've put up with several ridiculously bad customer service reps over at Verizon. The first one didn't seem to care that I was considering changing providers due to their policies, the second insulted me, and the third one kicked me out of the store for raising my voice to her (no foul or inappropriate language was used). As a point of reference, I was late on paying my bill in February, and because of this, I was told that I could not get onto an Edge plan for 6 months - even though I've been a customer of theirs for over 10 years, my monthly payments would be less on the plan AND I already have a device on the Edge plan. The first rep (probably realizing that there wasn't much he could do) basically told me there was nothing they could do and good luck, and the second rep went on to tell me that if I tried to change providers, they'd look up my credit history and they wouldn't approve me anyway, so not to bother - to which I was just shocked and sat there silent for a minute. But that's not even my biggest beef. 14 days ago, I purchased a couple of smaller electronics. They're like $70 each and for some reason, they never gave me a receipt. I was told I had 14 days to return them if I didn't like them. We never opened them, never took them out of the box. After thinking about it, I decided to return them and that it wasn't a fit. I find out at the store that there is a $35 restocking fee for each of them -- half the cost of the item. This was never mentioned to me at the time of purchase in any way, shape, or form. I looked at her and I said, "Are you kidding me? Restocking? I can put them right back on the shelf for you where I found them for free." She told me it was on the receipt that I never got. So I eventually raised my voice when all she could do was read the company rhetoric at which point she asked me to leave the store or she would call the cops on me. I'm done with Verizon. For good. Pretty much the last straw. All they care about is how to make more money off of you. I hope they get wiped out by their competitors and good riddance. read more
