They really are disgusting. they're charging me for premium channels, but they took away the channels for the premium. We're paying thousands of dollars a year and then you get a customer service rep in the Billing Dept who thinks they're doing you a favor while I might be doing her a favor going to another company.

First, they have various contact numbers that claim they are unable to assist and assert you have to call the other line. None of them allow you to cancel or give you any assurance that your account is closed. I lost service in December on a switch over to 5G and phone number changed (when they told me it wouldn't), then my account got suspended for failure to pay - no cable, no internet, no phone. And they still bllled be each month adding onto charges and i them called to cancel in Feb and I returned all equipment. And they still billed me for monthly service after all the months of no service/suspensions and now clear post cancelation. I called multiple times - billing, service, retention, etc When I punched in my account number it asserts my account is still operational and they keep billing me which is absurd. One department says I canceled and then billing has no power to credit or close out and says I am suspended and keeps adding charges even though I am receiving no services now and they can't tell me how to resolve. It is extortion. I am trying to work through the NYS Public Service Commission complaint department for these fraudulent practices which I believe also prey on the elderly. Saying you always call wrong line and then hanging up on you is complete run around.

Sweeney President Optimum 1111 Stewart Avenue Bethpage, New York 11714-3581 Dear Mr. Sweeney: While this is no exaggeration, I have been a loyal customer for over 40 years, you can look it up. However on the morning of Friday, July 10, 2020 I turned on my TV and was denied a station that was available to me for many years. The screen stated, "Alert not authorized." ERR-25. It was station 268, NHL Hockey. I closed my TV, waited a minute or so, put my TV back on and saw the same message. I tried calling at 7:30 AM, and after receiving prompt after prompt, lasting 7 minutes, I was told the office was closed. I repeated the scenario at 12:30PM and after receiving prompt after prompt waited on the phone for exactly 48 minutes before hanging up and realizing that Optimum does not want to speak to me or any of their customers. Trying to reach a live person is absolutely impossible. It's plain and simple, customers are discouraged from speaking to service representatives. We are billed exceeding high amounts of money for services with no consideration to customer's needs. PAIN and simple. Eventually I spoke with a representative after another long phone experience who advised me that our area was experiencing difficulties with certain channels. Sounded fishy! If this was so, why wasn't this message on phone prompts explaining that there were area problems? On Saturday, my son Todd, got involved and was told that a technician would come to my house since nothing can be done remotely, thusly, insinuating we were lied to about area blackouts! As previously mentioned, I've been a customer for over 40 years and have never considered using another cable company. However, now that has changed. I will now consider other companies that will hopefully provide me with the services I expect. Please be advised Mr. Sweeney, Optimum needs satisfied customers. Unsatisfied customers do not need Optimum. Very truly yours, Joseph J. Messina

CableVision / Optonline :( RATED A FAT BIG ZERO!…read more RUDE, CONDENSENDING, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE My current cable bill is over $250 with the modem , cable box etc... I had problems back in OCT , NOV , DEC with internet. This prompted me to sign up for Verizon in January. I used them for the past 3 months with no issues and finally made the decision to start cutting services from Cablevision / Optonline. On 3/18 I called to cancel my phone service and the women (Sue) flat out refused unless I listed to her sales pitch about how great optimum online is and how I should upgrade my services for a better price. I told her I already tried that back in OCT / NOV with no resolution. I also asked for a way to reduce my monthly spend as prices just keep going up. At that time I was told I have the best deal there is. For being offline for about a week due to bad wire from the pole, modem and outside connectors they only offered me a $10 credit at that time. Not sure how they did the math, but my calculation would be something like: $99.99 / 31 = $3.22 per day $3.22 * 7 days = $22 credit She was defensive and said sometimes services goes down. I told her that was not the issue. Services go down and I understand that. The issue is the poor service and how they did not care. Only after arguing they offered an insulting $10 credit. Sue looked up my account and I got the "OH NO! You're a 20 Year customer do go... I can make things better". Sue proceeded to tell me I should upgrade to Gigabit for the best pricing and not to switch. I explained I did not need that. I already explored reducing my bills and January would have been the time for them to correct and "make things better." I was already past that point and wanted to cancel my phone plan. I proceeded to say next month I plan to cancel internet and eventually cable. At this point she flat out refused and said "I am not cancelling anything until you listen to me.." AND "if you hang up im not doing anything". She then went into a sales pitch. I told her I would report to BBB if she did not cancel immediately. At that point she accused me of cursing at her. I asked for her to replay the recording and if I did I would gladly apologize. She would not play the recording and would not give me a supervisor when asked. I was placed on hold hoping for a supervisor, but she returned after 2-3 minutes. I was able to record the 2nd half of the conversation. Here is a link happy listening. Around 00:02:36 in she tells me I am rude and disrespectful. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JhQexafuzQSwlT5U2JPHiTudc5e-Ux7Z/view?usp=sharing I was finally told that the phone was ported over on 3/17 to another carrier and there is nothing to cancel. I called back 1-877-936-4778 and was not able to get an explanation to why it still shows up under My Services https://drive.google.com/file/d/11YtLm3YyGB5LHAr3uzijAE7aEaXPNlCP/view?usp=sharing
