Recently had an experience that really made a difference in my opinion of customer service. Our cable box stopped working so went to Huntington store on Jericho Tpke to get new one. There I met associate Joseph, I was so impressed. He was a king of multitasking because there was no manager present so he had to interact with every other associate to help them while still maintaining service with me. I was curious about their apple tv and optimum mobile and he walked me through everything step by step. He stayed an hour past his shift to ensure everything was set up perfectly and I am so happy that I was able to meet such a professional and engaging employee. read more

CableVision / Optonline :( RATED A FAT BIG ZERO! RUDE, CONDENSENDING, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE My current cable bill is over $250 with the modem , cable box etc... I had problems back in OCT , NOV , DEC with internet. This prompted me to sign up for Verizon in January. I used them for the past 3 months with no issues and finally made the decision to start cutting services from Cablevision / Optonline. On 3/18 I called to cancel my phone service and the women (Sue) flat out refused unless I listed to her sales pitch about how great optimum online is and how I should upgrade my services for a better price. I told her I already tried that back in OCT / NOV with no resolution. I also asked for a way to reduce my monthly spend as prices just keep going up. At that time I was told I have the best deal there is. For being offline for about a week due to bad wire from the pole, modem and outside connectors they only offered me a $10 credit at that time. Not sure how they did the math, but my calculation would be something like: $99.99 / 31 = $3.22 per day $3.22 * 7 days = $22 credit She was defensive and said sometimes services goes down. I told her that was not the issue. Services go down and I understand that. The issue is the poor service and how they did not care. Only after arguing they offered an insulting $10 credit. Sue looked up my account and I got the "OH NO! You're a 20 Year customer do go... I can make things better". Sue proceeded to tell me I should upgrade to Gigabit for the best pricing and not to switch. I explained I did not need that. I already explored reducing my bills and January would have been the time for them to correct and "make things better." I was already past that point and wanted to cancel my phone plan. I proceeded to say next month I plan to cancel internet and eventually cable. At this point she flat out refused and said "I am not cancelling anything until you listen to me.." AND "if you hang up im not doing anything". She then went into a sales pitch. I told her I would report to BBB if she did not cancel immediately. At that point she accused me of cursing at her. I asked for her to replay the recording and if I did I would gladly apologize. She would not play the recording and would not give me a supervisor when asked. I was placed on hold hoping for a supervisor, but she returned after 2-3 minutes. I was able to record the 2nd half of the conversation. Here is a link happy listening. This is by far the worst service i have ever experienced. I switched over from regular service to fiber-optic service last Wednesday and today is the 5th day without internet and TV and they still do not know how to help me. I am losing money by not being able to work from home and they certainly do not care at all. 13 calls later i am still being transferred around the horn to every department with no one being able to help. I asked for a higher level manager to speak to and they wont allow me to. This is crazy. Do not believe any of the sales reps saying this is an easy switch. Do not switch to fiber optics!! Store clerk completely inept. I exchanged old equipment for new equipment. He didn't remove my old cable boxes from my account and added boxes still assigned to someone else. Optimum told me my account was suspended. After many hours on the phone with customer service I was able to set up my new boxes and removed the old boxes I was being charged for. Store manager should train the employees, especially in the incredibly difficult job of scanning barcodes!! Streaming is in my near future......bye Optimum! None of the customer service reps have any knowledge on the actual products and services. I have been without cable/internet for the past 5 days and the technician came to "fix" it, left without following through and I still have no internet and cable connection issues. What the fuck is this company seriously??? They overcharge for the worst service on earth and I cannot wait to cancel and go with literally any other company because their service is that horrible and that frustrating. Tried contacting them regarding a wire down. They set up an appointment and didn't show up. When we called, Madison said that we didn't have an appointment. They set up another appointment for the next day(10am-8pm). We asked for a call from a supervisor. They never called. The next day, we called at 6pm. Chris said that we have a pending appointment and have to wait until 8 pm. They didn't show up again. When we called them to find out why(37 minute hold), they said that the technician was there the day before(again not true, we were home and have cameras). Jonathan set up an appointment for the next day(10am-8pm). Asked to speak with a supervisor. Transferred to Rose. Rose said she was looking at the file and then disconnected. No phone call back. I have resisted changing over to Verizon because of the good service I have received from Cablevision, but things have gotten worse. Since the change over to Altice customer service has deteriated. The call center representatives are hard to understand, they speak with heavy accents, not from India. They don't seem to have knowledge regarding the problem the call is about. Currently I am waiting for a service technician to come to my house to fix my problem, the wait we be 5 days out. One rep said it was an outage in the area the other said it was not. I've had this service for several years and especially the DVR has deteriorated. Last night I tried to watch the news on several different channels through DVR and none of them work. Went today. At least 15 people are outside waiting to get in. Took almost 1 hour to get in. Once you are inside you see 1 person actually serving the customers and 4 more doing absolutely nothing. Talking, walking, joking, etc.. What a disgrace, but I am not surprised. Since the pandemic it takes hours to get anybody on the line if you have a problem. Cablevision/Optimum is absolutely the worst run business i have ever had to use. They were disgustingly disrespectful on the phone to me. Its all robo answers you never get a real person to say more then ten words. " were trying" or "there are trucks in your area". I drive a twenty block radius and havent seen a hideous purple repair truck in my neighborhood since cable went out tuesday Yet the robo answer is stay home it will be repaired by 10 pm. For 7 days now same BS robo answers. I gave them one more chance after sandy but im done. Verizon was in my neighborhood three days after the storm. Im using verizon from now on. Optimum/cablevision Absolutely in my opinion is the worst most arrogant business i have ever had the dis pleasure of using. This is just my opinion but buy board games because the next time someone blows out a candle or sneezes on long island you may in my opinion lose your internet tv and phone if you use optimum/cable vision. If you like to make payments in person like I do, Optimum made a nice place to do so. The employees are also courteous and helpful. The location is convenient, parking is ample, and I've never had to wait, but it may be difficult to get out with Jericho Turnpike traffic being as it is. Optimum itself is a great service to have. It's affordable, there are no contracts, and you get free wifi access all across Long Island, as well as many hotspots in Queens, Bronx, and a few places in Manhattan (this is what I've personally observed, they probably have more). The wifi saves me a lot of money on smartphone data charges! I am currently tethered to Verizon wireless , so I saved more than you can possibly imagine! If you ever have technical problems, their staff is easy to get in touch with and they're courteous and knowledgeable. They say Verizon is faster or has more channels, but as someone who's had both services, I can't tell the difference performance wise. I by far prefer Optimum though! read more

Terrible experience with cablevision. My internet is running terribly slow, when I called customer service they told me they don't guarantee wifi service in your home just the internet going to the modem...when I explained that all our devices are wifi, iPad, Tvs, cell phones, she told me that everyone else isn't like me.. I then stated that you want me to only use devises that jack into the modem. She said yes that's what everyone else does... I then proceeded to speak with her boss after waiting 49 minutes on hold. The next day they sent tech. Support, which after 2 hours decided to change the router and modem.. She seriously went above and beyond to help us, we accidentally put our printer wires in the bag with the old box when we moved and gave it to the technician. The customer service has been awful. All during covid you can't get through for help to reduce fees. Waited on hold over hour to get a representative that couldn't tell you anything. Rep who helped me, if you could even call it helped, was extremely rude. Basically gave me an attitude and told me too bad in regards to my situation. Asked for a supervisor and she told me no and said I had to call if i wanted to speak to a superior. My family have been cablevision customers for over 20 years and she treats me like that? Today They get one Star. I have a business account. They came to add new service for my neighbor a residential account. They cut my cable wire in the basement so when I arrived at my business I had no phones and no internet. Tech came Chris who was wonderful and reconnected the service. My office was in turmoil for several hours and we could not get any work done. 1pm I started my day. I called to ask for a courtesy discount and they calculated it to be 5 dollars. I talked to Steve in customer service and Casey in Supervisor area and Desirae in management. Cable Vision has no Vision when it comes to customer service. They should act like they don't have a big piece of the pie and treat clients better. They should have a program to have the customer service have authority to give a little more so the client feels like there getting the proper courtesy. I know that I have switched my service for minor disagreements, and giving a little more will get you more. Big companies don't know how to build relationships, Treating us as a number will not get your numbers up. Customer Retention may not be top on their list but it should be. CableVision your mistake not to compensate the action of what happened compared to a pro rata daily cost calculation down to the hour of service loss, 5 dollars, really? You give great customer service and your clients will never leave, you need to figure this out. Time to talk to your customer service reps and get their input on this, your reps who all were great and professional and the tech also can give you CABLEVISON the vision for better customer service. read more
