OPTIMUM is the BIGGEST SPAM EVER. Back in January, we called to switch to their new fiber optic service and were promised a locked-in price. The rep who handled the changeover clearly didn't care about helping customers--just about making the sale. We had TWO phone lines: a home line and a business line. Optimum assured us we wouldn't lose either. Guess what? After installation, our BUSINESS LINE was completely gone--and the "locked-in" price we were promised NEVER showed up on our bill. We spent TWO WEEKS calling Optimum every night after work--nothing got fixed. Finally, I had to physically go to the Optimum store, where they were at least able to add the business line back. But the next bill came... and of course, nothing was corrected. The Billing Department was useless. They couldn't fix anything, nor did they seem to care. I'm beyond frustrated. I even tried calling the corporate number--only to be rerouted back to customer service. There's NO WAY to reach anyone at corporate who actually has the power to fix anything. Optimum, DO BETTER. Train your reps to care about the customer and not just the sale. If I had any other choice in providers, I would have switched already. But you're the only option in my area. The truth is: optimum is better at taking money than providing services. I've had "triple play" for years and it's not particularly fast. And while it is up most of the time....the email they have is crap. At 125 a month or more...I expect better but there is no alternative, where I live. Today I made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios for my home internet. I just turned in my router and modem at the Hauppauge office. I notice the difference already: no dropped connections so far, and the upload speeds are significantly faster. I now look forward to office Zoom and Skype meetings. Goodbye to those embarrassing disconnections. Optimum tried to lure me into getting their mobile phone service, but Verizon made me an offer that I could not refuse. My Verizon mobile phone bill will now be $10 lower now that I have a bundled Fios/mobile package. Optimum initially gave me a reasonably priced Internet plan, but after one year my bill went up two fold. Online reviews say that Verizon keeps their prices steady and that it is the elite of the two carriers. Optimum's customer service was good. Their website is user friendly, their techs are professional, and their customer service representatives know what they are doing. The customer service representative suggested an upgrade to a one-gigabyte speed connection and scheduled an installation for February 3. I also returned my old router and was assured that the temporary router I received would suffice until the installation. Unfortunately, after several hours of trying to set up the temporary router--both independently and with assistance from your phone representatives--the problem remains unresolved, leaving me without Wi-Fi for my work. From 4:37 PM to 8:22 PM, I was on the phone with four different representatives. While the initial customer service rep tried to assist for over an hour and a half, I was then transferred to a manager, followed by a representative named Nathaniel. Despite my request that he stay on the line until the issue was resolved, Nathaniel abruptly hung up on me. Finally, I was connected to Damani, who genuinely tried his best to assist but was ultimately unable to resolve my issue or expedite the installation to meet my urgent needs. I am appalled by the lack of urgency and professionalism demonstrated during this experience. As a former Cablevision employee, I know that such behavior would never have been acceptable. It is unacceptable for a customer to be left without a critical service--especially when I informed your team that I rely on Wi-Fi for my job, which I must report to tomorrow morning. My service has been suspended for failure to pay and i have no phone, internet or cable. I returned all equipment and instructed optimum my intent to cancel. No department there can confirm anything - each department you call states they don't have the authority and to call another one. It is a complete run around. They keep billing me monthly and are unable to confirm anything on their end. They changed my phone number and did not notify me as well during this entire process so when I call, I can't access my account with my old phone number. I have made clear to them that I canceled all services and have not received any services for several months even though I was suspended and they keep billing monthly regardless for services even though I get nothing and there has been no phone, interest or cable utilization for this period. I feel like Optimum is scamming me and is avoiding transparency. I was transferred from retention to mobile to landline help with no answers, and billing hung up on me before I could speak to anyone. I was waiting for over an hour again to speak to someone else and no one answered so I hung up. Recently I had been experiencing internet issues that resulted in loss of my landline, advanced TV functions and internet. I spent HOURS with tech support that did not help (aside from one person), and was eventually sent a gateway to replace the modem. No one told me it was a router combined with a modem, which I researched myself, so I still had no service. I even spent more money on a new router for nothing! A supervisor assured me "you're not going anywhere" when I thought to leave Optimum. He sent a tech the same day (excellent worker) who fixed bad wiring and essentially shook his head at my story of dealing with tech support. I asked Optimum numerous times to comp me for service lapses, and they did not accommodate me, said there are no active discounts they could apply. I called retention on March 20 to cancel, spent an hour on the phone, and that is when John promised me I could keep all I have and get a rate lock at 200 a month for two years, even keep my landline. He said I do not even have to use the cell phone they would give me or even just give back the cell at any time and I could still keep the rate. Optimum Mobile wants me to transfer my landline number to the cell (not what I was told), so the phone is still in the box, unopened in a drawer. I was auto charged for mobile (I was not told I would be auto charged), and I see my Optimum bill is super high! They even wanted to send a tech out that I did not authorize and no one told me why. It was worrisome but I did get to cancel that. *UPDATE: Optimum left me a response to this review to email them for help. I emailed BrandReviews@optimum.com 5 times (supposedly case sensitive email address) and had gotten a phone call from another representative. I was offered a similar rate (albeit higher than the 200 quote) and was told I could keep all services but also told he could not add in mobile and that would require a separate call to return the phone. I did not receive email confirmation of any account changes, and the next day, I noticed one of my services was missing. I went down to the Hauppauge office and spoke to a representative named Billy. He saw the account changes that were made, confirmed my new rate, and got my other service that was deleted restored. He also told me he could not take back the cell phone since it was shipped to me. He asked me if it had been 60 days since I got it, and it's been less than that. He wrote down on paper for me that mobile offers a 30 day guarantee, and even gave me a box to send back the phone. I then spent TWO HOURS on the phone with Mobile. I was told it was past a 21 day window for returns, so they would not print a shipping label for me to send it back. They do not want to take it back at all. They told me it was a free phone, but then said Optimum paid for it, and if I wanted to cancel mobile, they would charge me around 200 for the cell phone and 50 for a restocking fee! They told me things like I could create a new landline number and transfer my old one and still use the cell. They told me I could give the phone to someone who could then pay me for the service. Push came to shove, and I finally got someone in escalation/retention who was able to give me credits and discounts to make the mobile service free and to eventually bring the cell phone balance down to zero, but I have to call back in another couple of months. Now I have mobile bundled in which I did not want and have to monitor for account issues. I can only hope that they will hold up their end of the bargains we've made. I do not trust that Optimum sincerely cares about my dissatisfaction with the horrendous customer service (aside from a handful of reps) and the fact that I was lied to so they could steal my money. I had an appointment for 8am to 11am today. At 10:30 I had a text saying that they would be late. There was no contact from Optimum after that text. I called 6 times between 1:30pm and 7pm. Each time getting a different story that I cancelled the appointment, that they were on the way at 5, 5:11, 6:50 etc. I was told I was 5th in line at 5:15. then at 7 I was told that the appointment was canceled because they had to do outside work. After visiting this Hauppauge location, I was confused about the low rating. When I saw the rating, I hesitated visiting this location. I'm glad we did come here, the service was fantastic! Actually there were several agents behind the counter and as I waited on the line, I observed that each person was friendly to the customer and you could hear pleasant chatting between customers and agents. We had been having an issue for months trying to change our service to fiber optic. The line had been previously damaged and every time we called to follow up, the call center reps told us it was repaired but when the techs showed up, it hadn't been repaired. This happened over and over again. It was only when we went to the Hauppauge Optimum store and spoke to Billy that it all got corrected. Billy was patient and understanding and spent hours researching the issue and kept in touch with us throughout the day until it was corrected. He was GREAT!! Came home today, September 20, 2023, at 1120 am and saw this optimum certified technician stomping through my professional landscaping and putting his ladder in my mulched landscape area that I paid significant money to make and maintain. I confronted the worker and asked why he was doing this and why he couldn't have his ladder in the street to which he replied "oh this is yours? Sorry". Then proceeded to move the ladder to the street...which he could have just done in the first place !!!! Shows a total disrespect for the community! I called up optimum to make a complaint and spoke to some person named "Yohandy" and he told me that since I'm not an optimum customer I should call 911. I said "you want me to call the police on your employee?!!???" He said yes and that's the procedure since I'm not a customer. I said 911 is for emergencies!!! This guy had no clue what he was talking about and could barely speak English. I asked what his employee ID# was and he said ..."Y as in yankee....C as in car and S as in ZEBRA!!!!! I confirmed this several times ....S as in ZEBRA??!!" And he confirmed it!!! Last i checked Z and S made two totally different sounds ! My billing cycle started on a Sunday, Monday was a Holiday and made these changes on Wednesday, so I missed returning these items by one open business day.
