One thing I'll say when you request for a tech to come and install services they should know to put the service equipment in a safe place not in the floor where everyone in the household walks on, maybe have techs that care to finish their job as soon as they start it and not leave the customer stranded with no service at all this tech was supposed to install my services tv phone and fiber internet and then failed to inform me or my family that the pole was the source of the problem and as a result of that issue I have no services turned on I've had countless agents write up notes on my account for the field team to fix the problem at the pole but didn't send anyone out and had to resort to go back to Fios since I had their equipment still and I was not gonna spend another day with no tv or internet I had to spend Friday night in complete darkness for their stupidity and inability to send a tech to address the issue I even gave the customer service rep an earful when they told me they couldn't do much for me at the moment I angrily told them I want my month of service completely waived for this!! But enough is enough I'm done playing childish games with you optimum!! I will not recommend optimum to nobody if this is the type of service a customer is gonna get.. please anyone go for any other service provider and stay away from optimum they will screw you over and play games with you.. This is the worst service I ever had my phone wouldn't dial out or receive phone calls today so I called them waited on hold for an hour and they reset my phone. Actually I had to do it and it worked until about 5 o'clock but it stopped working again. I've been on hold for an hour and 15 minutes somebody answers and says oh, this is not the line for that. Let me transfer you another half hour waiting on hold. This is disgusting the way that they do business. I do not recommend anybody using the service what if there was an emergency my kids needed me no way to dial out or to get a phone call. It's actually really disgusting the way they conduct business. If I were able to leave 0 stars I would. Working with them has been nothing but a headache. I got my internet router on 12/18/23 I tried to set it up but realized that I did let have coax connectors in my apartment. I called and the soonest they could get a technician out was a week out. Which I was understanding due to the holidays. Technician came out and was like you don't have a coax connecter which I already knew. He had to put a special request for a different technician which was okay again i was understanding. He said they would call me to make the appointment. A week past and I still didn't receive a call or anything for the appointment. So I called optimum to schedule the appointment and they told me that it has been scheduled for 1/9/2023. I messaged them on the 1/2/24 to make sure my appointment was confirmed which they told me it is. The day before I messaged them again to make sure my appointment is confirmed and set and which they told me it . Fast forward to 1/9/23 I messaged them again in the morning to makes sure of the time and they again said my appointment is confirmed and scheduled anywhere from 10am-8pm. Around 5pm I didn't hear anything sort of update do I again messaged them to make sure they where still coming and again they confirmed with me. 8pm rolls around and again nothing! At this point I'm was just over it. I called them directly and long behold they told me that I didn't have an appointment at all set up for today even though I was told 4 separate time that I did have an appointment set up. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was in between the holidays but it a just ridiculous that I got the run around like that. As I was trying to cancel they where offering me better deal for the inconvenience but after discussing all that the soonest they where able to get someone out here was 1 week.... Once they told me that i lost all hope and refused to make an appointment even after they offered me an even better deal. I rather pay more money for a company that actually cares about there services and can actually get someone to my house asap. Our internet goes out constantly, had to wait a week to get a service technician. The router still kept dropping connection. Ended up having to buy a router and WiFi extender for $200 to fix the issue. Connection still isn't great. read more

I am so sick of this service. i am holding right now over 30 minutes. I have hit WPS at least 2x a day. The errors are there is an issue with this request, we see you are having connection issues. Connecting over WIFI. It freezes. It knocks out the sound. We experienced an issue while initializing your service. Contact local customer service center. The phone service is horrid. If I could give zero stars, I would. Since switching to the Altice box, we have had a multitude of issues with our tv. Their customer service is poorly trained and unable to help you. After being disconnected while speaking to a manager because their computer system went down, I called back and spoke to another customer service rep,( which of course took another 20 min or so by the time I clicked through all of the automated options.) The customer service representative was unable to transfer me to a manager, but stated that the manager would be calling me within 24 to 48 hours. This was a week ago. I have yet to hear from a manager. I have needed to contact them several times since as I am still having issues. I needed a specific cable box for my brand new television. When I called the customer service telephone number, they informed me that 59 of these specific boxes were in stock. Unfortunately, their estimate was absolutely wrong. There were zero. When I got to the Hauppauge location, there was lettering on the floor to ceiling glass stating that I should go up the stairs. When I went up the stairs it had absolutely nothing to do with Optimum or Cablevision for that matter. After going back down the stairs and into the appropriate location, the employee informed me that they did not even have one of the specific type of cable boxes that my system required. The representative was helpful and friendly, however, she could not resolve my issue. Due to misinformation on the part of the people at the 1-800 number I made a trip that I didn't have to and my problem still remains unresolved. Our internet kept going out after about a year+ of service. I called tech support, besides unplugging and plugging back in, they are useless. Our appointment was from 10A - 8P, and they can't narrow it down. Tech came and said when installed, the installer added a restrictor on the line and connected the restrictor and wire to the modem. He took off the restrictor, connected the line to the modem, and left. The service call took roughly 2-3 minutes. Optimum charged us $80 for "wire repair" since it was inside the house. When I called to get an explanation, they said it was a "repair" so I have to pay the fee. I explained that I could have quickly taken the restrictor off if I knew about it, and it was not a repair. They said it was a "repair" per their terms even though it was something they put on the line, and it was my responsibility. It was not damaged; it was something that was no longer needed. I decided to go back to FiOS since in 7 years I have never paid for a repair (I think I called 2 times), they give better windows for service, the service is better overall, they are just more helpful over the phone, and will remove a fee when you call and make a good case. read more

I'm a new customer with optimum. I had TV internet and phone service installed this afternoon. At the end of my install, the tech informed me that an "outage" in the are occurred and that he could not finish the process and left. He said that it would all boot up automatically and I wouldn't need to do any further. Long story short. I still have no service. My neighbor across the street has the same service with no disruptions and customer service put me on hold for over 2 1/2 hrs. They don't care. They have my money and that's all they care about. Altice bought "Optimum" or Cablevision however you like it and now you have to pay their "debt payments" for this company hence the bill getting high. We danced around with a year deal price for a few years then when its up they up the bill a few months till I call to get a new deal. A few years ago they required you to get TV with the Internet so I got the regular 12 channel, a digital antenna doesn't work for us. This spring the bill went up to $96 for internet and 12 channels I've had enough, went to verizon for just internet for $44, give the customer what they want. I hear people pay $160/ 200, 300 people you know you can get netflix and hulu for $20 a month tops? Also if the cable goes out so does your phone, thats not a phone to me but a receiver hooked up to the cablebox. You have to shop around. read more

Hated the service when I had it. Cable boxes frequently required resetting, took about 10 minutes to re-cycle and power back on. Picture quality was sub par, and the customer service sucked. Moved to Verizon Fios years ago and never looked back. Now live in a home that has a Cablevision utility box on the corner of my property, which got deformed by the snow plows this past winter and left a gaping hole in the yard where kids stand for the bus. Tried calling up all their listed numbers just to get routed to offshore calling centers. Every person I spoke with couldn't deviate from their script and couldn't send a customer service tech out to the property without an account number. Even suggested I walk my neighborhood to find a Cablevision customer and have them call in to report the problem for me. It took me getting on Twitter and hashtagging Cablevision about my experience for a rep to reach out and get someone to my property. They came out to bend out the brackets for the utility box and told me they would send the construction team out to do a complete replacement in "a few weeks" since they were backed up. This is my local Optimum store, a customer service center I've been to a number of times to pick-up or trade-in a cable box. Often it has long lines with an atmosphere of tension and indifferent employees. Maybe they could put a shelf or a cart out here since everyone is awkwardly holding at least one IO box they'll be passing over the counter. A television is tuned to Cablevision-owned News 12. The rest of this review is on the my cable service, and not the store. Cablevision boxes these days have active subscriber cards and polling technology, and the service in these parts is all digital now, so the old "Black-box-"style analog descramblers are useless here. You can't get it for free, what choice do you have? Cablevi$ion will nickel and dime you, too. You can rent the equipment from them for a monthly fee. . . I think they even get you for the remote. Package-wise, there's always a "might as well" upgrade available for another $9.95. Controversially, Cablevi$ion currently does not offer "Starz on Demand" (a channel that is free everywhere else in the world if you get Starz) because they don't see an incentive; after all, you may not buy "HBO on Demand" for that additional $4.95 a month. I don't know about these rumors regarding Cablevision and disabled external hard drive ports on the DVR boxes. . . anyway, they own your home library now. You anticipate the days when we'll be watching all our TV through the internet, but guess what, they own that too. Fees For High Definition Television which was supposed to be mandated changed by congress February 2006 now makes $5 per box and a service fee of $10 PER Month for HD Services which we should have gotten without charge by this government clause. I live in the Coram Area. I'm not happy with Cablevision. I signed up for the Select package. The rep who signed me up said i was getting a special promo - Free HBO for 1 year, free DVR service for 6 mos & hundreds of free on demand. All untrue!!! I called & spoke to 2 reps who confirmed it was noted I was to get free HBO for 1 year but nothing about free DVR service. 1 rep said they would expedite this to a manager about the free HBO. No call back & no free HBO. I pay almost $140 a month for WiFi & basic cable which they advertise it for $84.95 plus taxes & fees. Who knew the fees would be over $50!!! They're the only game in town since I live in a coop & cant get dish. Im keeping it for now but may end up cancelling & just keeping WiFi. Very unhappy. read more

Had optimum for 18 years at my home with minimum issues moved in december and got upgraded wifi and have had nothing but issues since. I cannot even work from home if I need to because the service is either down, intermittent or just plain slow. I ask them to come and check the hook up and they tell me they'll be there between 8am and 4pm who can be home during the week for 8 hours. Maybe if I had reliable internet I could possibly be working from home but I'm not. If I had any other option for service in this complex I would use it. Cablevision has a cable running from the street, across my lawn, up my tree, draping across the street to another tree, down to the curb and up the block several houses. I agree with all of the 1 star reviews. I was afraid to leave Cablevision after 23+ years. A lot of people knew my email. Didn't to give it up. So we got up the courage to drop cablevision. We went to Fios internet only. It was like a breath of fresh air. We sleep better, we don't shell out close to $275 every month, we get dramatically better pictures on the TV, and internet speed is better. Not to mention, the people on the phone at Fios were civil, polite. patiant and when one said they would call me back she did after an event took place, 1 week later. They are now scattered around the complex and he "does not have the time" to come clean them up. This was my second time giving Optimum a chance, never again. They lie to make the sale and don't want to be bothered when it comes to making things right. First time took about a month to get my "installation fee" refunded. This time it's been 10 days and counting. Every time I call they tell me that the money is still with them, they will escalate it, and nothing happens. Cablevision/Optimum offers customers virtually no way to report service problems. For the past two days they have been broadcasting Channel 99 (their own channel listing) without picture. Customers hear only background ("elevator") music and cannot determine what is being shown on TV. I wasted 45 minutes on the night of 10/3 on several calls to "technicians". They refused to believe that anything was wrong with their transmissions and insisted the problem was possibly due to defects in my home equipment. Even though their tests showed my equipment was working fine, they refused to act on the service outage. THEY ALSO TRIED TO SELL ME A COSTLY ADD-ON TO MY PLAN FOR TECH SERVICE. I just found out that the other two customers on my block, plus the mother of one of these customers also living in Shirley, was experiencing the same problem. THis morning, after making three more calls to Cablevision, I got a tech to admit there was a problem with the channel. He gave me no timetable for a fix, and I noticed that he nevertheless rebooted my cable box and switched the channel to the [dark] 99. All of these people should quit. read more

To whom it may concern: I have been a Cabelvision/Optimum subscriber for several decades. On Friday, August 23, 2019 my cable, internet and phone service went out at approximately 9:00p.m. EST. I assumed that it was a standard outage due to the fact that there was a severe storm the day prior. After two days of no service on, Sunday, August 25, 2019 I decided to call the main office in order to request an update on my service restoration. It is unfortunate that a longtime customer should be required navigate through a mind field of convoluted instructions in order to finally speak with a human being. When I finally spoke with a representative who stated that the earliest a technician would be available was Tuesday, August 27, 2019. I stated this would be unacceptable because, not only had I been without service for several days prior, but I had an elderly relative in the home and landline service was imperative. The gentleman was able to schedule an appointment for Monday, August, 26, 2019. The caveat was that he could not give me a specific timeframe, only that the technician would be there sometime "tomorrow" and would call prior to their arrival. On Monday, August 26, 2019, I reached out to your customer service team between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. EST and spoke with a young lady named Sherry. I requested to get an estimated time of arrival for the technician because, not only did I have several meetings to attend, but I also had an elderly relative in the home and did not feel comfortable leaving them alone. She stated that because that the appointment was already set she would be unable to change the arrival time. I expressed that this was not acceptable because, as per the previous rep, if someone was not at home to acknowledge the technician, would be billed a service charge. She stated that the only thing she was capable of doing was either cancelling the call, or rescheduling it. She stated that she could reach out to the dispatch in order to have them update me as to when the technician was en route. I was happy to hear that but the fact of the matter was that she was incapable of giving me a more narrow timeframe as to when a tech would be at my home. She began to get frustrated when I expressed that these were not adequate options. At this time requested a supervisor which she clearly did not like. I asked for her employee identification, and her call center location. She stated that "as per company policy" she could not divulge that information. She placed me on hold for a few minutes and then returned statin that there was no supervisor available. At that point I requested to speak with her supervisors' superior. Not only did she say that she was "not allowed" to give me he his/her name when I requested it but I was immediately placed on hold again and then was advised that her supervisor was speaking with another customer and was not available at the time. I asked for his name (Joe) and was advised that it would be at least FOUR hours before he was able to speak with me. I advised that I was willing to hold. After being without service two days, another few hours was truly not an issue at that point. After, being put on hold three more times between, her not being able to reach her supervisor and me not accepting a call back she hung up on me after being on the phone for 33 MINUTES. At approximately 11:45 a.m. on the same day, I called your customer service AGAIN, had to maneuver me way through your labyrinth of options. I spoke to Lucas. I immediately requested to speak with a supervisor in order to discuss my previous experience. Lucas placed me on a brief hold; when he returned he stated that his supervisor, Adam, "was not in today". He placed me on hold again for approximately three minutes and advised that another supervisor named Julio, who later advised that his identification was JU5) was available. After another five minute hold, I spoke with Julio who was apologetic however was still unable to narrow down the timeframe from eight hours. I emphatically expressed that I needed to know the approximate time that the technician would be arriving. H again was only capable of stating that it would be "sometime before 8:00 p.m." He then proceeded to appease me with a credit of $17.95 per day worth of service based on my existing plan. For the record, I never asked for a credit in any way, shape form or fashion, all I wanted to know was when my technician would be arriving. I was beyond insulted. I'm shocked and appalled that he not only felt that this was a resolution to my issue. When I asked what call center he was located out of he stated the "NYC Call Center." I then requested to speak with his supervisor. He advised that it would take FOUR TO FORTY-EIGHT HOURS in order for someone to get back to me. So I just recently moved to the area about 6 months ago so I'm still new to cablevision/optimum. My only experience is really with Xfinity/Comcast, which has been an absolute nightmare. I will say that it's confusing when a company tries to rebrand while still keeping the old brand. When I first arrived to this building, I thought it was the wrong place because it didn't say "Optimum," but rather, "Cablevision." For some reason, my wifi router stopped working and the tech person I spoke with over the phone was useless. But they did tell me to come here and exchange my router. The process was painless. I came in midday on a weekday, there were about 5-7 people in front of me, and I was out in less than 15 minutes. They took my router and exchanged it for a new one, also providing me with a receipt as proof of the exchange, which is nice in case there are issues. Let's be real, errands like this are up there with going to the DMV, post office, etc. But, this was as painless as an annoying errand can be! read more
