Went home and, with light from the window and a toothpick, cleared the phone port of a rather sizable ball of lint. No more charging issues. It's sad, though, that had it been someone else with same problem (say, an elderly person), they'd have gotten conned into buying a new phone. I hate people.

I have been using my wife's old tablet a lot lately. Recently, the screen broke (it first made…read moreweird images, then got all pixelated, then finally the tablet wouldn't turn on). We brought it to the mall to see what could be done, and the Best Buy next door pointed us here. The two guys were friendly and suggested that the screen might need to be replaced. They quoted me a price, which seemed high compared to the cost of a new tablet, but there was stuff on this one that I needed so I agreed. I conditioned my approval on the basis that if the new screen wouldn't fix it I didn't want to pay for anything. A couple of days later and they called to say it was fixed. I picked up and brought it home and discovered that most of the screen worked fine but the bottom inch didn't. I talked to them on the phone and they offered to order a new screen. It arrived in a couple of days and they made the switch. The process is somewhat convenient though I wish they had hours later than 7PM during the week. I am pretty busy on the weekends so getting here to drop it off (then pick it up, then drop it off again, then pick it up again) spread the process out a lot longer then I would have liked. They weren't cheap ($160) but they did quote me up front and they were quick and polite.

I think it's time to change it and put a new one on. As I was sitting there trying to pry what I thought was my old screen protector off, my whole phone screen came peeling up, screen turned a rainbow of colors and stopped working! To my horror, I realized that I did not have a screen protector on and that I had just attempted to rip the actual screen off. I quickly panicked as one would do when ruining their iphone and quickly got in the car to head to the Apple Store at the Danbury Mall. I walked through the door thinking "oh my god, this is going to cost me $500 or possibly a new iphone. I can not afford this right now!" Walking in, I looked up and noticed that there was a Mobile Rescue store in front of me. My fiance suggested we go in and give it a try. I admit that I turned my nose up to the idea at first, but decided to give it a try. The second we walked in, a bright bubbly girl named Olivia welcomed us. I told her what had happened and said "oh no problem! We can have this fixed for you in 15 minutes!" I was shocked and did not know what to say. She said "Yes, we can fix this good as new and it will only cost you $80.00." I said yes, and left the store. We walked a couple laps around the mall, found this new furniture store which has actually been there for the past 5 years, ARHAUS,which I will write a separate review for, walked through there a couple times and headed back to Mobile Rescue. Tuzal, the tech was just finishing my phone repair when we walked in. My phone was better than it was to begin with! He then put an actual screen protector on my phone for free and we went on our merry way. That was such an amazing experience, and I recommend that if you damage your phone in any way, instead of paying an arm and a leg to Apple, to head on over to Mobile Rescue to see Olivia and Tuzal.
