I am waiting on a call back from Earthlink but am not holding my breath. In the time it took me to write this, internet service has cut out two times. In the mean time, Verizon called to et me know that they are offering wireless internet service in my area. (My internet just currently out again, and again (4 times total in a couple of minutes). Their router will be arriving on Monday as FedX won't deliver on the weekend. If the Verizon router provides better service, I WILL be canceling Earthlink. Hopefully this post goes through.

Additionally, as a 77-year-old customer who has been with Xfinity for many years, I'm very disappointed that the bill keeps increasing every year and that there is still no senior discount available. Because of these ongoing issues and today's experience, I am seriously considering switching to Verizon. Like any cable monopoly, they squeeze every penny from the consumer and keep moving formerly free channels to the higher-priced tiers. Looking forward to when Verizon's FIOS finally gets deployed in Millville and offers some real competition. Maybe then they'll clean up their act. Internet service is fast and efficient when they aren't imposing artificial bandwidth caps and other throttling shenanigans. VOIP service is reliable and clear.

The next day I received a call from the head of customer relations out of NYC. She was more than understanding of the issues I was having and first offered to waive my cancellation fee. I told her if she could provide a solution to my original problem of being promised a router for the upgraded speed at no charge, I would prefer that since it was where all my frustrations had started. I was weary if that was the right move considering I had been lied to and manipulated on every phone call prior to this one. However, I was pleasantly surprised when she followed through with resolving the issue and continued to follow up with me several times and made sure that I was happy with how things were resolved. I am very satisfied that my complaint was heard and solved, however it would have been much easier to not have been manipulated from the beginning. I guess they expected me to give up and when I didn't, I got to the right people so I was provided a resolution. Now that I have the new router and faster speed, all is working well.
