I have been here twice. My first time I ordered a basic bourbon sour with a local bourbon. The drink cost $30 before tip. I was a bit appalled but decided to give it another go. I went back and tried three cocktails on their cocktail list. All under $20. I did not like the last cocktail, so the bartender said he would comp it. Regardless, per the ticket that I signed that included all three drinks and a tip, my total was around $57. The charge cleared my bank -- it was for $69. So, not only was my drink not comp'd (that is fine) but also the bartenders decided to give themselves an extra tip. Quite pissed about that, especially when the last drink (the bad one) was pre-made and poured from a tap. I will not be returning here or to any of their other establishments. read more

Visited today at 9:00pm to get some hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails. We walked in and we're not greeted at the door, after walking to the end of the bar we were stopped and asked for ID. We presented our ID's and were seated outside. The server brought me and my date a glass of water along with a menu. We waited for her to return and after 30 minutes just left. Sorry we can not comment on any of the offerings only that the service is extremely poor. Good news is that me and my date were able to chat and catch up on emails. read more

I just discovered this cute little cocktail bar this past week and I was overly impressed! The bar had a nice lounge and comfortable feel to it, while still maintaining a really clean and classy environment. They had a really extravagant menu with super fun things on the menu! I tried several different drinks that my group had ordered and they were all excellent in their own way. The cocktail itself is like an experience, and the way they present their drinks is like an art form! They were able to recommend off menu things and make me some really cool drinks that I had never heard of. If you have never had egg whites in a drink before, it is a must! I was a little bit weary of it first but once I tried it I was hooked. The bartender was able to come up with some really creative drinks and that is always so fun to go off menu! They do have small appetizer plates and even a couple of small meal plates but we did not try any while we were there. I heard the popcorn is excellent, I wish we would have tried that! The cocktails are a little bit pricey but you are paying for the ambience in the experience and the expertise of the bartenders as well they really know how to make a great drink! read more

What a magical place. I visited for the first time last night and all I can say is... Take me back! The De La Cruz may be in my top 5 cocktails I have ever consumed. It kind of reminds me of the chocolate phosphates I used to enjoy from Panache on the Plaza in high school. We had the honor of visiting Verdigris tonight, and as incredible as the precursor sister bar The Monarch is, this bar is as equally impressive. This team has a way of finding the minutiae and elevating hospitality in sincere and enlightened ways. The drinks were (as expected with the combined prowess of this bar team) on point with the best bars in the world, but executed in fun, approachable and non-condescending ways. The decor and design is clean, purposed and curated painstakingly and cohesively. Things that stood out the most: the bar top that allows you to charge your phone, and the ability to QR code scan to get the menu on your phone to avoid touching menus in the current pandemic was an especially thoughtful touch. A thing that won't immediately stand out to everyone, but you should take notice- the menu itself. The listing of ingredients of the cocktails are simple and easy to read for anyone without scaring you off, but they don't tell the whole story of the work that's put into each one. As an example, ask about the tepache in the Ecotonal cocktail and wait for the bartenders face to light up about the love and care that goes into it. I would recommend this to any cocktail enthusiast, anyone wanting to impress a guest, and anyone looking for a date spot. read more

The aroma that greets you as you walk in is telling of the great service, chill vibes, awesome drinks that await you. Great variety of cocktails centered around a fresh twist on a theme of 'change' that is true to its name.. "verdigris" is the bright blue-green color that forms on copper or brass as it oxidizes. Everyone in the group enjoyed their drinks. We ordered from all four quadrants of the menu ( classics, light, rich and imperial classics). Service was awesome and host recommendations were spot on. Didn't think it was possible, but I think I like this spot better than Monarch! Verdigris caters to a different crowd than Monarch and is more laid back. A true lounge experience. I have been here a few times, usually it has been enjoyable. The bartenders are hypnotic and the servers have always been delightful. Tonight we sat outside, big mistake. I do not know how they have not been reported for the vulgar and offensive music they play. After the 20th F*Bomb (it was not censored) we asked the server if there was anything they could do. We were told that the owners do not care and they have had many complaints that go unaddressed. This is by a major thoroughfare to the parking garage. Kids walk past. I would not want mine to be subjected to racial slurs, derogatory insults, and expletives that came with them. I'm not sure if they are going for shock value or what, but it brought what should have been an upscale experience to the same level as chugging a 40, by a dumpster, in an alley next to a strip club. read more

The new bar in Park Place has a really cool vibe, beautiful decor and a fun menu. Service is great, some drinks are served with a nice flair, like dry ice, shaped ice cubes (one with a gold coin in it... and you'll pay handsomely for that one), or Sonic-like ice. I've been there twice now and I'd say the drinks are on the smaller side, priced on the higher side, but seems appropriate for the type of place this is, so just know that going in. I docked it one star because when we went last night, my friend tried to order a dirty martini with Grey Goose and they don't carry that. Or Belvedere or Ketel One... they DO have vodka, but I'd consider those three pretty standard choices for making a martini and thought it was curious they didn't have any of those. Unfortunately our server didn't pay us much attention and therefore we only had one drink before we had to leave. Second time at this establishment, first time was girls night out and had a great experience..tonight however we decided to bring our husbands, super slow evening -lots if empty tables and slow horrible service. The entire table ordered food, the server brought one meal out 10min before the others. Another 5min went by still no food for the 5 others at the table we are talking hamburgers. Stunning interior with plush furnishings and an exceptionally well curated playlist playing softly in this dim lit jewel, which makes for a perfect evening. The bartenders are the best in town! These seasoned mixologist are so knowledgeable, prompt, polite and can make a hell of a craft cocktail while keeping a smile on your face as they do it. My first visit was on Valentine's Day, so it was a reservation required for this which we didn't know but the friendly staff kept their word on reaching out to us as soon as a spot opened. Verdigris is situated in a swanky shopping area that includes other restaurants if you're ever in the same predicament and need to pass a little time before entering this beautiful holy grail. I was so impressed that I later chose this venue to host a meet and greet/ cocktail hour with my company as the space is large enough to accommodate, yet cozy enough for more of an intimate outing. I was so excited to try this place. Sadly, will not be back. Just like other reviewers have said, you are immediately greeted by someone at the door about a reservation. He told me for a group of 4 it would be over an hour wait. It's more about how he said this. Like we didn't belong in their "upscale" establishment. That was until my friend arrived, and then it was like oh let me see what I can do! I did not wish to come back when they had a table available, but my friends insisted they had delicious drinks here. We were seated right by the door- it was 28 degrees this evening, so very cold and uncomfortable. Our server wasn't very knowledgeable of the menu. Drinks were small, overpriced. Saw many people come inside only to be turned away. One guy sitting at the bar was wearing sweatpants, so I guess there's no dress code?? We absolutely adore Verdigris. We just recently moved back home from Las Vegas and let me tell you. Kansas City hasn't been the most exciting when searching for truly innovative craft bars. We initially discovered Monarch on the plaza when a friend brought us there for my birthday a couple years back, and were so incredibly thrilled to learn that verdigris was opening just a short 10 min drive from us! They have a great happy hour and honestly there isn't a cocktail they can't make or don't have some super great version of. Most of the time when we go in, we don't order off the menu. They ask what you like and dislike and customize a recipe based on your taste preferences! They truly master their craft and I can't say enough great things about them! 10/10 I couldn't say anything better about this establishment or their amazing staff! read more

The drinks were fine, but they really need a new door man. My friend and I were immediately greeted by at the door by their general manager. He asked if we had a reservation, I said yes. He asked for my name and did not see it on his end. Luckily, I saved my email and pulled it up which was taking a while (was not offered to step inside during the winter). Finally pulled it up and he realized he made the reservation and said "DARN, I guess I have to let you in now." My friend and I were not impressed, but tried to ignore it and salvage the night. The drinks were fine, but nothing to write home about. During our time there they did let in one rowdy (DRUNK) group who did not have a reservation. This was puzzling considering how we were treated at the door WITH a reservation. Not sure if they're going for an "exclusive" vibe, but it was pretty off putting.
