The food is great! The staff is amazing and they are always so welcoming! It's a must try and the food is very authentic!

DISCRIMINATORY MAN ASKED ME TO PAY UPFRONT ON Thursday AUGUST 7th, 2025 at 10:45 Pm. Note: I've been there three times and I just picked up Tamales at the counter . This would be the first time I would sit down to eat in . Male: worker / manager supervisor or owner? approached me after I had ordered to eat in and sat down ( he's middle aged , big built , black hair , black mustache & wore Glasses w/black frames). Male Comes up-to me where I'm sitting and says, " You Have to pay now ". I ask: Oh, is the register closing ? He says: NO. But YOU have to pay up front otherwise I won't make the food. I ask: why? He says: ( hemming and hawing ) uhhh..( he mutters )you don't speak Spanish and I know that you won't pay. You have to pay now or we are not going to prepare the food . I ask again: what? Why? He says : I just told you we won't serve you unless you pay first. I know you wont pay". And he walks away. By now all the other customers have turned around and sone were whispering or shaking their heads and looking at me like I was sone kind of outcast or criminal . I get up and walk to the counter and remembered I had withdrawn cash to pay the painter for painting supplies . I flash a bundle of $100 bills at him. His body language immediately changes and he starts fidgeting and looks embarrassed and starts stuttering avoiding eye contact. I ask for his name . He says he won't provide it. A senior and elderly Peruvian lady who works there walks to him (behind the cashier counter ) all the while she's giving me disturbingly dirty looks and starts whispering. Into his ear, all the while pointedly staring at me. Now after being publicly humiliated I tell him he's a racist and Walk out . The most apparent thing was that this man took pleasure in humiliating me .. He had a scary Gleam in his eyes and a smirk when he spoke to me . I've already made a complaint to the civil liberties Union . Since I'm not African American, I feel this mans blatant disregard and disrespect allegedly runs deep towards people of non Spanish cultures. Mex food is my favorite and the food may be good at this restaurant but we are not talking about that . What is being talked about is something that needs to be immediately addressed and these two employees ( that man and the senior elderly Peruvian female worker ) certainly need a mandatory class on how to treat all customers equally and with respect no matter their race, gender, background and religious beliefs . read more

OMG classic Mexican food in this restaurant! Damn everything is delicious and good! Location: it is located in White Plains, it is easy to find and there is street parking in front. The interior is a typical Mexican restaurant that you can find in Mexico! I feel like I am in Mexico! Service: the server was nice! And always wear a smile! Food: Authentic Mexican foods!! GUACAMOLE and CHIPS: omg the best guac I ate, it was done fresh, you can see the uneven mash of guac! It has a hint of lemon and the chips are freshly fried! TOSTADA de CECINA, TOSTADA de CARNE ENCHILADA and TOSTADA de BISTEC: another favorite, the mashed beans with the crunchy tostada. Afcourse in Mexico they have better tostada, but this is good as well. CHALUPAS: we ordered with salsa verde and salsa roja, both is good! HORCHATA: omg this is good, freshly made, taste like sesame drink. Price rating: 4 out of 10. It is so cheap! Huge serving! Authentic Mexican and very delicious! Came here for lunch on a weekday and left in a near food coma! This place gives great portions and a good amount of flavor at an affordable price. For apps I got the guacamole. It was creamy, fresh and loaded with tons of lime flavor. A delicious spin on guac with the strong lime juice. My entree was al pastor tacos. The tacos came loaded with plenty of meat!!! Food is delicious, service with a smile. The salsas are amazing. The spicy red with the chips is great, Peruvian green with the lomo is amazing and the Verde is awesome. I've had enchiladas, tacos and lomo saltado and all were delicious. What is can't understand is why oh why, they can't put a 9volt battery in the smoke detector to stop it from beeping!!! I've been there twice over the last 2 weeks and both times the smoke detector beeps for a new battery. It's horribly annoying to eat there and hear that beep every minute. Makes me crazy. Take 2: came here with my business partners for taco Tuesday and to be honest I really wish I didn't. My food was terrible. I strongly believe 2/5 of us got food poisoning. My friend got a fish and rice plate and I got Chalupas. My Chalupas had no flavor which I don't see how hard that is if it's only a tortilla with hot sauce Why the negative stars., bc of the cheese they used. The spot looks sketchy, a small local joint. But that was exactly what I was looking for. I was tired of all the fusion experimental cuisine and wanted some legitimate, homestyle fare. And that's exactly what I got. The spot itself has 2 tvs, one playing soccer, the other playing Latino NBC. The kitchen is behind the counter, out in the open, allowing all those delicious smells permeate the air. Our waitress was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. Although they boasted tacos and burritos, I was intrigued by the Peruvian offerings. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, delicious meats stirred up with tomatoes and onions, laid over a bed of French fries and a side of white rice shaped like a pyramid. It was so good, I had to stop my wife from eating off my plate. I also had a steak taco which was the most authentic taco I have had since I've been to Mexico. She had the steak burrito with was two-handfuls of delicious awesome. Did I mention the pricing? We paid $28 for all that and had leftovers. Great place, great food. read more

This place is amazing!! I was just running around town, and with a quick search to see what was to eat in the area google offered up this fantastic location. Decided to swing by and see what it was all about. I'm not even a little dissapointed that I did! First, the smell all by itself was fantastic... invited me right inside to grab a seat/table and pick out meals. After a peak at the menu I decided to try out a couple of tacos (Al Pastor and Carnitas), served of course with cilantro and diced onions. I also sampled their roast chicken while I had the chance thanks to an awesome server. Everything was so amazing!!! The chicken was moist and succulent. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It was everything I could do to not add that to my order because I'd have to much food and no where to keep it! My tacos we're equally as good. The Al Pastor was pushing the dry side, but not. Just barked up enough to be of flavor and keep you in for the next bite. Meanwhile, the Carnitas were equally as moist and tender as the chicken and simply delicious. Zero complains, and every bit delicious. I don't visit as much, but will have to make it a point to come back... and make Cafe Veracruz a prime stop when I'm in the area! I ordered take-out, the saltado de camarones. About 80% of the container was fries and white rice. So the amount of sauted veggies in there was pathetic. I think the amount of shrimp in there was okay, there were 9 small ones, and a lot of restaurants are typically skimpy on the shrimp, so no surprise there. Overall, kind of sad. I was really struggling to think of how to make this review 2 stars but the food quality was really disappointing. It looked good but the meat gave an aftertaste of trash and the tortillas were unnecessarily hard at the ends and overly thick and tasting of potent corn. I was craving Mexican and we called up this place that was about a 10 min drive away and they were open and apparently seemed iively because of all the music in the background. So we get there and this place is super mexican...men in sombrero's doing karaoke. Super loud, 4 big TV's and beer on the floor. Packed with men, about 3 women and 2 kids at 3AM. Their was only one waitress and she held it down. I had the Al Pastor Taco's. Pretty delicious and BF had the Chorizo Tacos...They were yucky and tasted burnt but I could see where they were going with the flavor, had a nice spice. Its a little over priced. I have been waiting to try Veracuz since the Summer and never found myself in the area again. I was told the food is fabulous - the guacamole, particularly, to die for.
