I came here with a friend when I was in the early stages of wedding planning. Not sure what the Indian/American balance was going to be, I wanted to explore all my options. Friends in my situation had done full on Indian for the ceremony and then went mayo on white for the reception. So I hit up VW for some mayo one snowy afternoon. Store - immaculate. amazing. fairy-like. you walk in and are in a world of tulle and plush couches. it immediately calms you and puts you at ease. staff - professional and attentive. i had an appointment (i think you have to have one) and was waited on right away. they set my friend up with champagne and me with some dresses in the fitting room. i felt like a princess. my friend cried. the merchandise - sure a dress costs $11K, but you can tell the difference between this an OTS. the cuts were flattering, the fall was perfect and the material was luxurious. any girl would feel like a million dollars in one of these, no matter her shape and size. the heartbreak - we ended up getting my reception dress from india. le sigh. ps - no cameras read more

I was told there would be champagne. There was no champagne. As a recently single girl watching her best friend try on wedding dresses, there really needed to be champagne. All that said, even if there had been, this place still would not have gotten a great review. The store was very nice, the girl who was helping my friend was very sweet and very personable, but the dresses were just not that great. For the amount they expect people to pay, nothing seemed that well designed, that flattering, or that high quality. I was expecting something amazing, and I feel I got maybe a half step up from David's Bridal. Don't waste your time. read more

Julie and Lily from Vera Wang saved my wedding day. I had purchased a dress at another store but 9 days before the wedding, I was informed that the dress was stuck in customs in China. I was in a panic until my wedding planner got in touch with Julie. She immediately took on the problem as if it were Vera Wang Boston that had made the mistake and not some rival store. She felt so badly for me and squeezed me in for an appointment the next day. In the mean time she had me email her a picture of my original wedding dress so that she could figure out if she had anything similar to pull for me. When I arrived, Julie had pulled five dresses she thought I might like based on the picture I sent her. She also had about ten other dresses that she knew they could alter for me in a week. Julie's instincts were spot-on and the very first dress she put me in was the most incredible dress I have ever seen. Thanks to her, I found a dress that I love and is perfect for my body type. After I purchased the dress, Lily was charged with the task of taking it in 3 sizes in only a week. She did a spectacular job and the dress looked like it was made originally in my size. Lily was a perfectionist about all of the details on my dress so no one would have known it was a sample dress if I hadn't told them. I am still awed when I think about the task that Vera Wang Boston undertook. I am so thankful for the people at this store. They made it possible for me to get a perfect wedding gown. read more

This was the first place I went to in my quest to find a wedding dress, on a Friday afternoon with an appointment my friend was able to get for me a few hours before. As lovely as Vera Wang's dresses are, the quality of service at this location is sub-par. When my friend and I entered the store on the second floor on the famous Newbury Street, it took the staff a while to acknowledge our presence. When we were greeted by front desk about 3 minutes after our arrival, we were told to fill out the intake sheet and wait for our bridal consultant. Upon meeting my consultant (I forgot her name), I felt she was somewhat distant as she didn't ask me any personal questions about the wedding or style I wanted, except for my budget and what silhouette I wanted. This was my first store; therefore, I just assumed every store was like this. She told me to look around and to pull a couple of dresses that I liked. She was helpful in getting into dresses and clipping the dress; however, the conversation between consultant and client was kept to a minimum during our visit. There was a point where I had asked a question (I forgot what exactly it was), but her response was along the lines of "yeah, we can alter the dress, but why would you want to change anything on a Vera Wang dress?" I get it, I get it... it's VERA WANG, but come on, the bride's the one buying the dress. I felt somewhat rushed between dresses, as though my consultant was watching the clock for her next appointment. We were allowed to take pictures here. The boutique itself was clean with a bridal feel. I only brought one person with me, but there were other brides there with 4-5 in their parties. They did have all the Vera dresses that I was eying in stock. There were many beautiful dresses here, but in the end, I wasn't able to find "The One." I didn't particularly enjoy the service here; I expected better from VERA WANG. Disclaimer: This review is not about the gowns but solely about the customer (or customer-to-be) service only. So... I'm giving them 2 stars: a 4 for the quality of the merchandise, and 1 for the service. I called Vera Wang because I still need to purchase a veil for my wedding dress and I was hoping I could bring my dress in to try on some veils to match the dress. I was informed that I could not try on veils with my wedding dress because I did not buy my wedding dress at Vera. So... let me get this straight: I can walk in in jeans and a t-shirt, try on all the veils I want, but can't try them on with the outfit I'll be wearing it with? Okay. I get it, they're a fashion house, lord forbid that my Jenny Packham dress ruin the aesthetic they're hoping to maintain in the store (maybe some poor bride-to-be would like my dress better, ha!). So, I ask if I can come in to try on veils (sans wedding dress), purchase the veil I think I like, and return it if I find that, when I bring it home to try on with my dress, it doesn't work. No - you cannot return veils (even if it were, say, within an hour of purchase - it's not like I'm trying to borrow a veil for my wedding day and then return it). But you know what, I would have forgiven all of this and saved myself the hassle of venting on a public customer-review forum if they'd just been polite about the whole thing... Instead I got bounced around to two different women in the store both of whom were extraordinarily condescending and unhelpful. read more

Of the 6 bridal gown shopping experiences that I have had in New York, Atlanta, and Boston, Vera Wang Boston was by far the best! This is all due to consultant Alyssa Vaccaro who was patient, kind, and attentive. I believe that I had the last appointment of the day but my bridesmaids and I still received a warm greeting by Alyssa and were immediately offered water on the hot summer day. I went into the appointment knowing that I wanted a fitted mermaid gown and after talking style and budget, Alyssa pulled a variety of gowns. Even though we already had quite a few in the dressing room, she humored my friends and I when we threw in a "wildcard" sheath gown that did not fit the description of what I was looking for. I believe I tried on about 8 gowns, of which 2 gowns my friends and I really, really loved. I went back and forth on several which Alyssa patiently helped me in and out of. It was refreshing to be in such a lovely boutique with beautifully designed and high-quality gowns. Every sample was in excellent condition and gave me an accurate idea on how the gown would look fitted to me. I cannot say how important this is because I have been to several salons where the gowns have been tried on too many times where fabrics have lost their shape and just doesn't do a fresh/new gown justice. Overall, I was highly impressed with VW. Alyssa's knowledge despite her being new to VW Boston (she was previously at Klenfield's in NYC, which does not carry VW gowns). She spoke intelligently about VW's history, types of fabrics, silohouettes, and general alterations. Although I did not end up purchasing my gown here, I would absolutely recommend VW as a stop for any bride. The gowns are on the pricier side, most of the gowns that I tried on were at minimum of $5K, but I believe VW gowns start at the mid $2Ks and go over $10K. read more

Went here for my first foray into bridal dress shopping. Was very impressed that I could get an appointment on a Saturday afternoon in July and the place was quiet when we were there, so we had lots of attention and there weren't 50 other brides running around. I got to pick out 3-4 dresses that I liked and our sales associate was Mila. She was great and hands-off but very available and helpful. She found some great accessories and additional dresses for me to try that I absolutely fell in love with - including one I might not have picked out myself but now I can't stop thinking about! I was really impressed and my friends and I had a great time. At the end of our plus-two-hour appointment (they didn't even mind that we lingered), she got me to rate my top three dresses and then wrote down all the info and didn't put on any pressure at all. I was amazed that my favorite dress was actually fairly affordable and because of the great experience, I might choose to get a Vera Wang wedding dress for my big day! read more

I will give this place and our helpful assistant (shouts out to Giselle!) an A+ for flexibility and service. Picture this: it's Black Friday and me and my friend decided to go wedding dress shopping. The thing was...we didn't have an appointment. Mission impossible right? But, feeling very hopeful and daring, the bride to be and I called Vera Wang and asked for an appointment the day of and not surprisingly there were none available. However, they said we could come and browse. Of course, once you're there, you want to try on dresses. Like come on, beautiful dresses all around you and you can only look but not try on? Improbable! Luckily, we were helped by Giselle who was working the front desk. She so kindly accommodated us by allowing us to try 3-4 dresses during a 15 minutes slot. Not only was she super helpful and did not try to push us to buy, but she gave us a good 45 minutes of her time. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! Despite having a full list of clients, Giselle did not make us feel guilty or any different from any of the other clients who actually had appointments. We ended up trying 5-6 dresses and found a beautiful one which Giselle picked out and one that we didn't even consider! I cannot believe how lucky we were to have gotten someone who was so knowledgeable to help us find a dress! This woman knows the prices of the dress just offhand. Giselle isn't a consultant, but she really took the time to give us a wonderful first wedding dress shopping experience and to be honest, I don't think we could have gotten a better experience with a consultant. She was able to make so many good suggestions based off of what we liked. The only off thing about the experience was that we never got to talk to an official consultant (which sure fine, we didn't have an appointment), but Giselle fulfilled all of our expectations and on top of that she was so warm and lovely and so so so kind. Thank you so much Giselle!! You are so amazing. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Patty at Vera Wang. She was so patient and helpful in suggesting styles that I would like. The dress that I liked the most was one that she pulled that I never would have chosen off the rack. She was extremely attentive, personable and helpful. The store is beautiful but unfortunately there are no cameras allowed so I couldn't e-mail pics to my mom who lives in Seattle. I ended up getting my dress at the blowout sale at Kleinfeld's in NYC as it fit into my budget of only $3k. But Vera has amazing dresses for the $3,500-$4,000 too. read more

Behind the airy walls at Vera Wang bridal in Boston, lies a serious quality control issue. I fell in love with the sample dress that I tried on and put in an order. Six months later, when it arrived, it the color and quality of the fabric was off. I was told that the color was due to a different die lot. This would be understandable if I was shopping at Walmart, but not at a store carrying a very expensive designer label such as Vera Wang. The quality of the fabric was nothing like the sample. It felt like a rag. I refused to take delivery of dress, as it was not what I ordered and not what was sold to me. The owner offered to discount the sample that I liked so much, but I paid for a new dress, and did not want the sample that has now been used for the past 6 months. Kind of like wearing a rental car on your wedding day-no thanks. She also tried to convince me that it was in fact serviceable with alterations. But sadly no amount of altering can fix the dingy yellow color or the feel of the raggety fabric. So left with no alternatives, I asked for my deposit to be refunded. Of course the owner refused, and I of course I refused to accept that as I am not receiving the item that I paid for. This is now being escalated down the route of small claims court. I hope by writing this, that other brides can avoid the same issue, save themselves the heartache and purchase their gown from a more reputable manufacturer. read more

I couldn't believe how poorly Vera Wang's wedding dresses are made. Fabrics are disgustingly of poor quality , dingy, stiff . One dress shown had a bodice that was two inches higher on one side than the other. I was so so flabbergasted how disappointed I was with the bridal gowns here. They were awful . My niece is getting married, so her mother ( my sister) and I went here to look at dresses last fall. The store is pretty, staff was very nice, but Im sorry, I found the dresses themselves were pretty lousy. read more

When I started my wedding dress shopping I made an appointment at Vera Wang just so I could try on a few Vera Wang dresses. The staff was unbelievably helpful and never pressured me to buy. Brianna was the attendant who helped me and she was very sweet. She even let me come back 3 times to try on a dress I couldn't get out my mind! The prices are expensive but it's what you expect at Vera Wang. I would definitely recommend a trip to Vera Wang in a search for a beautiful wedding dress! read more

Terrible. First of all, it's almost impossible to hear the people from upstairs on the speaker phone outside. We had an appointment and I had to ring them three times before they picked up the call to buzz us in. Not a good start. Then, they just gave us a clip board like we were in a Dr.'s office...nothing special like you would expect from a bridal boutique. When it was my turn to try on dresses, the dressing room was TINY. If anyone has tried on a large wedding gown you practically have to be a yogi master to stand on one leg then fight through the poof to get your second leg down. There were no mirrors in the dressing rooms and the attendant zipped my hip into a dress! After the blood blister formed, her only acknowledgement was that this was her worst nightmare ever.... I almost told her "me too", instead I left and went to Lelite where the customer service is phenomenal! read more

The staff will be helpful, but they will be standoffish and snooty. I did not enjoy my visit to Vera Wang either of the times I went there. The attendants will help you in and out of the dress, but will rush you through the experience. I felt constantly pressured to finish my dress shopping within an hour as my attendant had another appointment then. When the attendants would make conversation with me or my mother, it was always stilted and not personal at all. You could tell that the women had very little interest in you and everything that was said was just to make the sale. This was not the experience that should come with one of the highest end dress shops. read more

I got the bridesmaids dresses here. Service was decent. I wished I coulda found my wedding dress here but at the time there was nothing that piqued my interest. It is an amazing line though! read more

I think it's pretty ridiculous to expect champagne at a bridal appointment. For the number of girls (and their families) who merely 'window shop', Vera Wang would lose so much money on cheap champagne. Another reviewer mentioned that the dresses were poorly made. The dresses are actually very well made, but the sheer number of girls who try the dresses on just wear down the dresses over time. I went in twice before deciding on my dress and putting down a deposit. I was lucky enough to be one of the first girls to try on the dress I eventually choose. But when I tried on the sample dress again several months later, I could tell that the same sample gown had been tried on many, many times. Unfortunately, Vera Wang can't do much about this because it seems like everyone just wants to try on their dresses even if they are not serious about buying. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and nice. The dresses were very well-made and beautiful. The details are also impeccable. I chose to purchase one of vera wang's nude colored dresses from her spring 2012 collection and when the dress was ready, they had also made me a custom headpiece to go with my dress (probably because I had mentioned it in passing during the last appointment). I didn't end up going with the headpiece because it didn't match my hairstyle, but it was very thoughtful of them to try. read more

I may be the only reviewer here who came by Vera Wang with absolutely no plans on getting married. I came here a couple years ago with a friend and intent on seeing the famed Vera Wang wedding dresses firsthand, made up a story that we were there to find a dress for my sister. I don't think they believed us, but let us look around anyway, so that was nice. The staff seems friendly, but I can see how they might be a bit snooty... Actually, the atmosphere was on the intimidating side. There are lots and lots of beautifully crafted dresses here and I could not stop ooh-ing and ahh-ing... There's that quote from the less-than-stellar movie Bride Wars: "You don't alter Vera to fit you; you alter yourself to fit Vera." read more

We decided to give the Vera Wang boutique a shot one afternoon when gown hunting for my bestie. The shop itself was nice, very pretty. Being that there's only one designer featured, the selection is somewhat witheringly limited. The consultants who were there that day were very passive and uninterested. We were ok with heading off to our next appointment early. read more

Came in here today while shopping on Newbury street, I didn't know Vera Wang was also located here. I am newly engaged and automatically went in with my finance and a friend, the store itself was beautiful with many great wedding selections, when we enter the staff wasn't friendly and I have to came up and ask if I can look around, after looking around their was 2-3 dresses that spark my interested, again staff no where to be found. We found out we have to make an appointment, I totally understand that, but base on our treatment from the staff am not sure if am willing to spend 4-6 thousand on the dress. I will give this place another in a couple weeks for a second chance, truly the dress is very pretty. read more

Even though I knew I probably couldn't afford a gown there, it was always my dream to try on a Vera Wang once I got engaged. This was my first dress-shopping experience, and I have to say it was a pleasant one. I was a little intimidated walking in because of the very fashion-house style of the salon and some of the very young looking consultants. Unfortunately my family was running late, but the staff allowed me to wait until they arrived & fit my appointment into a later time slot. This was fantastic considering they were getting busier as the afternoon approached. Gisele was our consultant & very helpful in explaining the dress sizing and alterations. We were even able to try on some dresses not included in the sample sale. She wasn't pushy at all in trying to get us to purchase a dress that day, and let us take our time discussing the pros/cons of each dress. There were only 2 reasons I made this review 4 instead of 5 stars: there was no free champagne I'd heard other reviewers received. ; ) (but that's probably because it was a sample sale!), and we were in the very back of the shop, which, while more private then parading in front of others in the salon, kind of made me feel like we didn't look appropriately dressed to be 'out in the open' in a high-end salon. read more

Best bridal experience ever! I went to kleinfelds and it was the absolutely worst so went to vera wang and was so grateful! The girls there are amazing, the selection is organized and clean like a bridal store should be! All around a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend going to see Christy! She is wonderful! She listened to my wants and needs and did not make the appointment all about selling a dress! She was phenomenal! read more

Would not recommend to anyone. The zipper did not work properly after the dress was purchased and the Vera Wang tailor failed to fix it.

If you want personal attention with an attendant that takes interest in what you want don't go to Vera Wang Boston. Not only do they not listen to what you want or what type of wedding you are planning, they are disinterested and condescending. When purchasing a wedding gown, it is not only important to be able to try on a variety of dresses you like but one would think that the attendant/consultant would be friendly helpful and express interest in what you want. You are the customer and they are there to assist you. Vera Wang Boston does not do this. They are too busy tripping over their sense of self importance!! read more

I brought my mother and cousin with me to Vera Wang a couple weeks ago. Alyssa was the consultant who helped us during my visit, and I had a wonderful experience. She was kind and thoughtful and allowed me to try on as many gowns as I wanted. It was my first experience trying on gowns and it was most definitely a positive one. I would highly recommend going to Vera Wang in Boston. My experience there was lovely, the gowns are beautiful and Alyssa was terrific! read more

If I could do it again I'd go to Vera Wang NYC or any other Vera Wang. Some of their business practices were illegal. I needed my dress shipped to me abroad. They kept trying to convince me to carry it on the airplane instead. This is a 20 hour flight with connections mind you! The safest way was to ship rather than hope flight attendants make room for my gown! Here is the sketchy, illegal part. They INSISTED on charging me MA sales tax on all items which is illegal if you are shipping the item overseas. They said it would come off the shipping cost. So when would I be refunded the difference? Never. Shipping a lightweight, large box to Australia with top insurance might cost $200-250 max. I was charged $500 in taxes at least. What if I had bought an even more expensive dress and paid even more in taxes? It was all very strange that they wouldn't just be ethical and honest and send me a shipping invoice. I gave up arguing. Later a tax lawyer told me that was completely illegal of them. The other issue was the last minute length alteration I had done. I had it pinned up and ready to shorten and paid the additional seamstress fee. I had to fly back so trusted it would arrive as I left it. But I'm pretty positive they took the pins out and didn't bother with the last alteration since they knew I wasn't coming back in to try it, again who would do this? The dress dragged with my new heels. I kept trying to pull it up but in retrospect I realize it wasn't me, they just had not bothered to do the work I paid them for. I wish I had gone to a different Vera Wang. This was in 2010 so the staff may have changed, but I would still be wary of their business practices. I have not forgotten this years later, so even though delayed, yelp is a good forum to help others. read more
