Extremely disappointing bridal experience!…read more Our experience with Katie at Flair was one of the most disappointing parts of my daughter's wedding dress search. Before our appointment, we had personally heard concerns from several people we know about their experiences at Flair. My daughter consciously put those concerns aside because she was hopeful and genuinely wanted to experience Flair for herself. Unfortunately, after our appointment, we learned that the people we knew who had shared those concerns had also had Katie as their consultant. We arrived 12 minutes late to our appointment and were immediately told that it was fine, but that we now had only 48 minutes. We understood that we were late, but the tone was abrupt from the beginning. Despite my daughter having been asked in advance to send the designers and specific dresses she was interested in, none of the dresses had been pulled in preparation for our appointment. The lack of engagement continued throughout the appointment. Between dresses, while my daughter was changing, Katie would repeatedly go back to the desk, peruse her laptop, and grab another dress. She never once engaged with the three of us sitting there or used that time to talk through what my daughter was looking for. When my daughter was ready in the dressing room, she actually had to call out to Katie to let her know she was ready so Katie could come in and adjust the dress. There was never a sense of excitement or anticipation. There was no "magical reveal" or moment where my daughter was made to feel like a bride. The appointment felt more like moving through a series of dresses as quickly as possible than creating the experience you would expect from a bridal boutique. What was most troubling, however, was Katie's treatment of my daughter. Rather than getting to know her, her vision, her wedding, or even the people who had come with her, Katie spent a significant amount of time lecturing her about the bridal process. She questioned why my daughter had not already chosen a dress--whether she hadn't found "the one," or whether the process had been "too quick and too easy" and she wasn't trusting it. She talked about how a bride needs to "manifest" her dress. She asked very rehearsed, direct, and quite frankly abrasive questions on WHY she wasn't ready to make the decision right there and then. It felt less like supportive bridal guidance and more like Katie was trying to convince my daughter that she was approaching the experience incorrectly. My daughter was never made to feel celebrated as a bride. When we asked reasonable questions about the dress, including the bustle options because my daughter felt the dress was heavy, Katie seemed aggravated and initially dismissed the question by saying there were "many options." When I asked about the price, she said it was within budget and responded, "I told your daughter the price in the dressing room, it is within budget." Even the veil experience felt rushed and careless. Katie said, "I'm no hairdresser," grabbed a few pieces of my daughter's hair, and hurriedly put the veil on her head. These may seem like small details, but during a bridal appointment, those moments matter. A bride should feel beautiful and cared for. By this point, my daughter was upset and overwhelmed and knew she wasn't ready to make a decision. When she asked if she could come back in a few days before she had to head home, back to Tampa, Katie told her, "No, I'm completely booked." She then proceeded to pressure my daughter into taking her measurements so she could just call if she decided to proceed with the dress. Katie ultimately asked the three of us accompanying my daughter to leave the area and wait in the hallway because her next bride and mother had arrived. I understand appointments need to stay on schedule, but the lack of any flexibility, combined with the pressure my daughter was already feeling, made the entire experience feel extremely transactional. At one point, while measuring my daughter, Katie even asked, "Did I say something?" By then, the answer was obvious. A bridal appointment should make a bride feel excited, beautiful, heard, and supported. My daughter left feeling rushed, interrogated, and pressured. We came to Flair willing to put aside things we had previously heard because my daughter wanted to experience it for herself. Unfortunately, our experience confirmed those concerns. Our lasting impression was that making the sale was more important than helping a bride find her dream dress. That is not the experience we expected from a bridal boutique, and I would not recommend booking with Katie.

The women we worked with were so patient and helpful with my daughter as she figured out the look she wanted for her dress. They were able to customize her dream dress and, in the end, the price was more reasonable than other designer dresses we looked at. And the dress looked better on her than the designer dresses. The ladies listened attentively and asked questions as they worked on creating my daughter's dream dress. A couple of times we asked for their honest opinion on things we were unsure of, and they were helpful. It was a really fun collaboration.

It is a little confusing whether or not you are shopping at Musette or Boston Bridal Rack given that they share space on the 4th floor of the building.
