My daughter's wedding was held at Venuti's on April 6th, 2024. The staff at Venuti's were wonderful to work with. Our expectations were surpassed. The food was amazing and the service for all guests was incredible. They had one server per 2 tables, guests didn't have to wait for other tables to be served and the food came out hot. They asked the guests how they would like steaks cooked, that is not something that other "upscale" venues do when serving a large group of people. Anyone looking for a venue for the weddings should consider this business. Top notch and you know you are getting your money's worth in every aspect. read more

Had a great "date" night with my wife at Venuti's on Saturday. We were greeted by Frank who remembered my wife calling for our reservation. What a friendly and hospitable person. Our server was Kim who gave great suggestions and gave us plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. No rushing us. The food was great. Some of the best Italian we have had in awhile. From the moment we stepped into the bar area where the DJ played, I knew something was wrong. The gentleman that stands by the door, maybe he's a bouncer, greeter or security guard ‍ Maybe he's all‍ He approached our table where my nephew was wearing a Nike windbreaker w a hoodie, but the hoodie was not on. He asked my nephew to remove his windbreaker and proceeded to lecture us about the establishment being "high-end." My nephew removed his windbreaker and we went on with our business. Lo and behold another man, sitting right in front of us had a flannel with a hoodie as well but.... He wasn't asked to remove it. Secondly, when we hit the dance floor he asked my nephew for his ID a second time (the first was when we arrived and I totally understand doing it then). My nephew walked back to our table to grab his ID and then I approached the gentleman and said, "you carded him when we arrived." Mind you- there were only about 4 black men there- it's impossible to have forgotten my nephew. Finally, when we were leaving we wanted to take a selfie right in front of Venuti's and not more than 2 min of taking our picture comes out the same gentleman- he stands right behind us just awkwardly waiting for us to leave. Heard mixed reviews about Venuti's. Went with a group to see a local band and decided to have dinner prior. Nice holiday ambiance in the dining room. The menu was extensive, lots of choices. We tried several appetizers and passed a few dinners at the table. Drinks were great, you could tell the bartender knew her stuff! For some reason our waiter thought it was a good idea to argue with the group at my table which did not sit well. Busboys though were fantastic and very attentive and to give him credit our waiter did try to redeem himself in the end. Some food items were good, some just ok. Loved the ability to finish dinner and settle in for the entertainment. Overall, looking forward to giving Venuti's another try and another star! read more

They just want you to spend money and they don't take care of you. They never come around asking how the service and food is! This is truly my favorite Italian joint. When I'm in town I'm usually here 1-3 times a week between lunch or dinner. Very authentic mom & pop restaurant. When you pull up to this gorgeous establishment you'll see mom & pop did very well for themselves. I've known about this place for decades one of my old man's favorites. Honestly I have had almost everything on the menu and can't think of one thing that wasn't great. They have a lunch buffet that will blow you away. So much to choose from and only so much you can eat. Great variety with multiple options for anyone. It's fantastic for a quick business lunch. I bring clients from out of town all the time for a Chicagoland homemade authentic Italian meal. They make their own everything and it shows. Some of my favorites for lunch are eggplant Parm, the white fish, and their sausage and peppers. There homemade pasta is awesome too. ALL of them. Soups are amazing as well. Dinner time is even better. The veal chop parmigiana is hands down best I have ever had anywhere. This masterpiece should be Called the "Veal Chop Experience" this is one of those dishes that turns heads when being paraded through the dining room to get everyone's attention. Ideal for a family style meal meant for sharing. After the server sets it down usually the tables next to you always ask what that is and they wasn't to order when they come in next time. Lasagna is awesome. Sea bass dishes are amazing. The baked clams are a must have that I order 90% of the time. At least 1 dozen as they are a fan favorite. One of my favorite things to do is come with family or good friends and order a variety of dishes to share ordering dishes that are tried and true along with trying something different with at least 1 dish. They make you wait 15 minutes if you don't have a reservation even if there's a table available. So there's a punishment for not making a reservation? Or, they just want to make it look busier than it is? Whatever the case may be it's petty. As if that isn't bad enough the lady informed us of the 15 minute wait as if we had deeply offended Italy itself entering Venturi's without a reservation. To be fair it smelled awesome. We loved this place. It was the first time that we have dined here and we were very pleased with the food and service. Our server was very accommodating and professional. We brought our own bottle of wine and was charged a $25 corkage fee which is the standard. My only disappointment was they couldn't make a decent cosmopolitan martini. Unfortunately the restaurant was only occupied by a large group celebrating and they were seated off to the far end of the restaurant and another patron at a table far away. You may think that a lack of business would lead to cutting corners but no crunchy bits in the steamed mussels which were superbly melty. The cocktails were strong and made well. Great FOOD. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Beautiful restaurant along with venue. We dined in husband, son along with myself. Had wine, it was delicious I had a filet it was delicious as well and the pasta is to die for it's so delicious. Service was very very slow, with only 3 tables to serve on a Sunday night. we sat for about 2 hours. Our waitress Angela seemed to never check on us and was checking on two other tables more often. We had to ask bus boy or another gentleman waiter to get us another glass of wine. We sure did come from bowling and wearing gym shoes. We were comfortable. I'm not sure but it felt as if we were being judged on our appearance more than anything. (Believe me, never judge a book by its cover). We also ordered a SIDE of pasta for my 3 year old son knowing that the kids meal was to much from the previous visit we had. She ended up putting in the kids meal anyway and had only 4 bites from that huge bowl. (It was delicious though) Never checked on us. Bus boy was there serving us waters and putting our left over in Togo boxes along with cleaning our table for room. Thanks to the bus boy very kind and was there to serve us instead of our waitress. We still tipped our 20% no matter what, but the bus boy deserved it. We will be back but I hope service will be better next time and hopefully never Judge a family by their appearance. read more

I didn't know Venuti's was a restaurant at first. I thought it was only for weddings and stuff. I was on a date and we where looking for a place to eat so I looked through Yelp and decided to call to make sure. They answered right away and where so welcoming. The place was beautiful and elegant. The people where sooo nice, the service was fast and the food was delicious, I was in heaven. I asked one of the head women in charge if she could take a picture of me and my date and she went as far as moving the furniture, just so that we can get a good shot, I was in shock. I went here for my cousin's wedding so my experience will be from the perspective of a big scale event like 200 people. First, the entrance is kind of small. The mosaic at the top of the stairs by the entrance is interesting. The room the ceremony was in was nice. The chairs are uncomfortable though. The hot appetizers the waiters brought around where good. There was a raw bar and it wasn't as filling. It would have been great if there could be 2 lines in around the raw bar instead of just one so everyone could be fed. I was waiting for the dinner to be filled. The cream of asparagus soup was good. Then the salad that came next was pretty, but tasted meh. I got filet mignon and lobster tail as my entree. The filet mignon was well done on one side and light red on another. The lobster tail was removed from the shell. It was a bigger tail than I expected to get though. The ice cream sundae as desserts was okay. no whipped cream or anything like that. Just a scoop of ice cream and some hot fudge drizzled on it. The drinks taste more of alcohol than the flavors in it. They aren't mixed that well. I don't like extravagant food, but this restaurant looks like a castle on the inside...and they make their own Ricotta cheese. The restaurant has fountains and murals, mosaics and a gorgeous spiral staircase inlaid with brass scrolls. There were 8 of us, and we were seated at a magnificent room, by ourselves with a wall of wine, and glass doors closing behind us. Now for the service. The menu has Chicken Parmesan described where the manicotti is listed. My friend found peas in her lasagna. (Nothing on the menu states this.) They admitted the menu had some mistakes. Duh. They couldn't separate our orders, so we had to figure them out for ourselves. They actually told us, at 5:40 that we would be out by 6:30. By 6:12, we weren't yet served. We got served. they bring you focaccia and garlic bread with olive oil to dip it in. I have never liked eating olive oil, but fine Italian resultants serve bread that way. The focaccia had pepperoni on one kind and the other, cheese. The rigatoni I had was really good. I had to rush eat it, cause we weren't served in a timely fashion. The rigatoni had their fresh home made ricotta cheese. Now that was to die for. I'd say, try this place once, then pass on it. Absolutely beautiful venue, had the privilege of going to see a wedding here and it was very nice. The open layout allowed for us to all move as we pleased, without getting flustered. The food came out ordered to temp and for such a large crowd to cook for, I was a little shocked at how well and thorough each plate was. The steak was tender/juicy and equally important, it was med rare. The staff here was very helpful and polite, food was exceptional, and the layout of the building along with decor had a wonderful sense of elegance. Was here for dinner, drinks and a live band last night. This place is a restaurant with a nice bar area as well as a banquet hall for weddings and events. I've actually been here for a wedding before and it was real nice. The place is very pretty both inside and out. The holiday decor is still up outside and it's looks great when you pull up to the place. We came here primarily to see the band playing, The Moods, but also figured we would make a night of it with dinner and some drinks. We showed up at least 2 hours before the show started and actually had reservations for the restaurant side. The band was playing on the lounge/bar side so we were instructed to walk over to that side to talk with the waitstaff about getting a table. The lounge itself is very nice. The bar is huge and the decor is very classy. All of the tables in the lounge had reserved signs on them, and we instantly thought that we should have called the restaurant instead of using opentable to book our reservations. If you are planning on coming here for a band on the lounge side, make sure to contact the restaurant directly as they do take reservations for that side. The waitress that greeted us was extremely friendly and told us that everything was reserved. But then she asked the important question of whether we were planning on eating. Of course we were, but it was obvious she wanted to see if we were planning on spending money if she were to give us a table. She actually gave us the best table in the place as it was right in front of where the band was playing. From there on, service was excellent and we didn't have any complaints the rest of the night. She was very attentive when she needed to be and we actually noticed that she was coming back to the table exactly when we needed her to. We started off with some drinks and appetizers. I think the drinks were where we thought things fell a little flat for the night. After we left, we were discussing the drinks and how they reminded us very much of drinks you would get at a wedding. As I said earlier, the place is also a banquet facility for weddings and events. They should look into making some premium drinks for the lounge and restaurant. They weren't bad, but they weren't great either. I didn't have anything that amazed me throughout the night. As far as the appetizers go the stuffed artichoke is seasonal and definitely needs some work. It was our least favorite dish. The artichoke was stuffed with breadcrumbs which was on the lighter side and a cheese on top, but missed the mark on seasoning. It was rather bland. The sesame calamari was very good but extremely spicy. We knew it was going to be spicy beforehand as the waitress let us know, so that was a surprise. The fried calamari was tossed in a chili sauce. It was an original playing of the classic and worth trying. The spinach artichoke dip came with a plate of crostini and was very good. I would definitely get that again as it was very creamy and delicious. The arancini is an Italian classic. It's a rice ball that's stuffed with cheese, ham, peas and then fried. It's served with a side of marinara sauce and was very good. They are easily big enough to split. And lastly we had a Cesar salad which was very good. Nothing special about it, just the classic salad and once again big enough to split. For the meal itself we had the linguini with shrimp ala diavola. Which is linguini pasta with a spicier marinara sauce. The dish itself was excellent. The sauce was very good and had a nice kick to it. I would get this again. We also had the steak salad which was basically a salad topped with a sliced steak. The steak was cooked perfectly as asked. For dessert we split a slice of carrot cake. Nothing special here, but something sweet to finish off the meal. The band itself was great. They played a lot of Motown songs and classics from the 60-70's. Although I ddI feel that they needed some work on the sound as it was hard to hear them at times. Having the table right in front of them was a definite bonus to the night and show. The ambiance with the place is great. The waitstaff was excellent, very friendly and attentive. We would definitely come back here and we would sit in the lounge area again. The restaurant side is much quieter but lacks the fun factor of sitting at a high top around the bar. If you look up at the ceiling of the bar you will notice the starry sky twinkling. This place is a nice place if you're Looking for the traditional Italian fare. There is nothing that we ate that was mind blowing, but the service and ambiance really made up for that. read more

The reception hall is absolutely beautiful from the double staircase to the ceremony room, and banquet room. We could not have received better service from the crew with us that night, they kept a close eye on how we were doing, but our guests and vendors as well. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE and having the option of allowing our guests to order their meal when they sat down was amazing. Love that alcohol and our cake was all included and made a lot of details a lot easier. We had a reservation for 9:00 pm to have dinner. We arrived a little bit before 9:00, and informed the host that the other four on our party of six would be a little late in arriving. He said it was no problem at all, and that we could go to the bar and have a drink until the rest of our party arrived. We went into the bar and we were about to order a drink when a man approached us and asked if we had a reservation. I told him that we had a reservation for dinner, and that we were told by the person and the host stand in the restaurant to go on to the bar and have a drink. He rudely said that they have no tables available because they were already all reserved, but we could go to a table on the patio. I never even said I was looking to have a table in the bar. This man also never identified himself as a manager or an employee of Venuti's so I never got his name. Because of the way he treated us we decided to leave, and informed the rest of our party that we would go somewhere else. He was a tall dark haired man that approached me in a very rude manner. We would have loved to have had dinner there, and then try to see Julian Jumpin Perez after dinner. We called earlier in the day asking about Julian, and we were told that there no more reservations, but we could walk in. Not sure if we will ever try to come to Venuti's again, but I just thought someone should know how rude this person was when we went into the bar area. read more

Wedding couples BEWARE! We had booked the venue prior to covid (2018) and had to cancel. The CONTRACT that was signed by both parties stated that if venutis booked the room on the date they would give a percentage of the deposit back. The date of our wedding was booked by a large company party (I have pictures to prove) We called and asked not even for the money back but as a credit for another event. The owner dodged calls and declined to honor his end of the wedding contract. This owner supposedly is a family friend of my fiancé. If that's how they treat friends just imagine how they would treat everyone else. I am so disappointed and horrified that a business can operate in such a dishonest manner. Please do NOT book your special day at venutis. HORRIBLE!!!! UPDATE - after your reply on yelp that there was a chance to resolve the situation I emailed Frank 4/12. Unfortunately NO response from Frank or any staff at Venutis. My email- Frank, Thank you for your response on yelp. I'm not sure who you have tried to reach out to, but I have not received any calls or emails from Venutis. fiance called the restaurant and Frank had said "I will look into the details and get back to you next Tuesday" (last week) There was never any follow up communication. My family and I are really disappointed with the whole situation. I have had every one of my life events at Venuti's. Some of those events included High school graduation, college graduation, birthdays, etc. You could have helped us out since we gave a deposit of 8,000.00, especially since Venuti's re-booked the room. I have pictures of how large the company party was. In your yelp response, you mentioned that the cancellation of the original wedding date was 5 months prior, which was not true. The cancellation occurred in April 2018 making that 8 months prior to the wedding date. The contract stated that 8 months out would be responsible for 20% of the food/bev minimum if cancelled. 20% of 22,000= 4,400. We paid 8,000,- 2,000 deposit, 6000 payment towards the minimum. Had Venutis honored the contract, we would at the very least receive 1,600. Fiance and I didn't even ask for a check, we asked for a credit for hosting another event with Venutis, my bridal shower. In your review it was mentioned that there is belief for resolution of this matter. I feel that asking for a small event credit towards my bridal shower was not an outrageous ask, especially since we had been long time customers and since you were a family friend of my fiance's family.
