So, I've been looking for a nail place for a while. I came here at the recommendation of a Co worker. Her nails were gorgeous and I was definitely interested in trying the location. First, everyone was very kind. My nail tech was METICULOUS, which i appreciate. She cleaned the underside of the nail, which might now sound like a huge deal, but it is. I hate when there's excess underneath. They came out shaped beautifully. I decided to year myself to sla deluxe pedicure and do not regret it. Hot stones, paraffin wax, massage, paint. Perfect. read more

I walked in to get a fill like I usually do. I planned on also getting their deluxe pedicure and my eyebrows waxed. The door was locked and the young lady had to open the door for me. no problem. The issue came when she then, loudly, told me to 'GO PICK A COLOR' I told her that I don't need to pick a color and that I already know what I'd like. She spoke over me and in an irritated tone told me again to 'GO PICK A COLOR THEYRE ALL OVER THERE' pointing to the wall of nail polish. So I did. I then when to sit at the only open chair, which belonged to the lady that yelled at me. (I didn't sit and wait bc there were no other customers there besides one lady already mid fill) The young lady then rolled her eyes and said 'no no SHE'LL help you' pointing to the obviously busy only other nail tech in the building. I felt uncomfortable and unwanted. read more

My dad's visiting and we always do daddy- daughter salon days together and my normal nail ship does horrible pedicures so I had to venture out and find a shop that may be good with pedi. Came across this place and the pedicure was great. They reside in a small center with a few restaurants, a smokers novelty shop and a barbershop, but there doesn't seem to be any real issues with parking. The shop is following covid procedures, by taking your temperature before you are serviced and require masks. The ladies all wear masks and there are plastic spacers between pedicure chairs and nail stations. We selected the deluxe pedicure that came with hot stones, paraffin wax and a generous leg massage. So many places rush through to do your pedicure in 30 minutes or less but they really took their time with both of us. I personally love pedicures that last about an hour that are worth it and we really enjoyed them. Now, the nails, I wasn't as pleased with for my fill in because she did my fill in while I was in the chair getting my pedicure. I was able to relax but I do wish they had done them separately. I think I'll stick to my normal place for my nails but I will definitely think of this place as a normal spot for my toes. Sucks but sometimes you need 2 places lol! read more

I arrived at Venus Nails at 6:10. They were not busy. The door was locked and a staff member had to unlock it. Signage stated they close at 7 p.m. I was turned away and their reason was they "didn't have enough time to do a fill." Absolutely ridiculous. They claimed to need a minimum of an hour. read more

Love these ladies. I would always get pedicures elsewhere and it wouldn't be something I enjoyed but Vy actually is careful with these dogs and makes me enjoy it . I had some ingrown toenails and she was able to get them out without it hurting! Love supporting small businesses and getting great service at the same time ! read more

I didn't like this place I went with my daughter and as soon as we went inside the lady give us a look and also a little rude I told her is been a years that I don't do acrylic nails I wanted to leave pay them and go somewhere else am not going back there even if my friend recommended it read more

*CALL AHEAD SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT!* What can I say another great experience thanks to my fellow yelpers reviews! Venus Nails is so convenient to our new place and I will gladly be back. We chose the $35 New York option for our pedicure and we were delightfully surprised at how friendly and polite the ladies were that gave us the amazing Pedi! My stylist Kim had me choose a scent and from there she went to work and my feet now feel absolutely amazing. This small little salon in UP definitely has a chill vibe and their pedicure service was top notch! The prices are very reasonable my $35 pedi was the top of the line option they offer their pedis start at $23. The chairs recline and are messaging and they are very comfortable even for me who is 6'2". We did call ahead to make sure there was availability before we headed to the salon they took our name and as soon as we got there our chairs were starting to get ready and we sat right down. I definitely recommend this nail salon! read more

Venus Nails - Gel manicure and gel pedicure - Nail Salons Near Me - University Place, Washington

Went to Venus today and I can truly say that I'm impressed. Without a doubt, this is the BEST gel manicure I have ever had! (I've been everywhere in Tacoma/UP!) The woman who did my nails was kind, and clearly very professional. She took her time, and although I do get impatient, I quickly realized that she was taking it seriously and wanted to give me the best service possible. My nails have never ever looked better. Like LOOK at those pictures. It took 1 Hour for my Gel Manicure, but it's without a doubt worth it. I don't recall the Manicurists name, but I know that it ended in "-ng." I'll be a return customer, so when I get her name next time I'll update for you guys! read more

I went here about 2 months ago. I called to make an appointment and even asked how much a gel manicure with French tips would cost. The lady told me $30. I came in for my appointment and was greeted nicely but then two of the women started speaking Vietnamese. They were saying how I had called a few days back and even asked for pricing, like it was a bad thing. I understood everything but just kept my mouth shut because I wanted to see if they would say other things. And they did, the two ladies only spoke to each other in Vietnamese and not their customers. The lady that did my nails was nice and asked me a few questions but the other ladies just kept on talking about random stuff to each other. Overall, the gel manicure was descent but she did not do a good job with the French tips. The only upside was that it didn't chip right away but I would not recommend getting French tips there. I will not be returning. read more

My daughter & I came here today because we've been looking for a great nail salon that also does freehand design. We both had fabulous pedicures with hot stone, massage and sugar scrub. Neither of the girls rushed and took their time making sure our feet looked spectacular! I got a fill with a Seahawks design that I found on Pinterest and it turned out perfectly! Great job ladies, we're definitely coming back. read more

Last color lasted me 5 days before it started chipping . I dealt with ugly nails due to a work schedule and came back in for the second time for a pedicure and a color change . $51 later . I get I got a design but that's bullshit : the menu says $8 for a color change and I asked how much more for matte and she said $3 then somehow it's $25 Also my pedicure was 23 + French tips . I just don't understand how things jumped so high and took literally 2 hours for a color change and basic pedi read more

I was so impressed by the measures they are taking to keep everyone safe and healthy while getting to relax and feel a little bit of normalcy. Individually packaged tools for each customer and sanitation constantly taking place really put me at ease. Not to mention they did a great job on my mani-pedi! Highly highly recommended! I am hyper critical of business in Tacoma because I've always found customer service to be sub par in nearly all establishments whether it was fine dining or good'ol Safeway. In a scurry on Monday I wanted to get my mani pedi done after work, luckily these guys were open late enough for me to get it done. When I had walked in there was two people ahead of me finishing up. I was warmly greeted by BOTH women and after explaining what I wanted I was instructed to pick a color. I showed one of the women what I wanted (picture On my phone from Pinterest post of glitter ombré natural nails), she said they could with confidence. Not too long after was I seated in a chair with feet soaking in hot water and the other girl working on my toes. The chairs are nice. The massage features even the remote seems new and cleaned. The only reason I wouldn't give this a full five stars was caused they reused items that were suppose to be brand new like nails boards pumice stones and such... But besides that they were gentle, kind and weren't pushy or in a rush at all even though I was now their only customer and passed their closing time. I got a full massage on both my hands feet and calves, even a hot stone massage to boot. They stopped to ask me if every nail was to my liking before moving on and at the end helped me to my drying station where there was a heated fan or me to dry my nails at. This part was my favorite because many places only use a fan which is fine except nail polish dries better in heat or hotter temperatures and quickly as well so this was a good finishing touch. I would highly recommend them and if I had to get nails in Tacoma they will be my first choice. read more

Venus Nails - Most places charge extra for wax.... But free here with 30$ delux pedicure.. Love it :) - Nail Salons Near Me - University Place, Washington

I was last minute looking for a nail salon for a full set and pedicure before my engagement party. I called around and most places were backed up busy. I called to Venus Nails and she was very friendly and said they had time. When I got there, I was skeptical because there was only one other person in there beside me and usually Saturday afternoons at nail salons are packed. Just ask the several I called before Venus Nails. She got started on my full set right away and it turned out beautifully. She took the time to make sure everything was perfect and there were no flaws. The pedicure was probably the best pedicure I've ever had. She didn't rush through it and I actually felt relaxed! I will definitely be returning to Venus. read more

**DO NOT PURCHASE THE VOUCHER** I purchased the voucher listed through Yelp. I came in for a pedicure and a shellac manicure. The pedicure felt rushed. It lasted less than 20 minutes and felt so rushed. The shellac manicure isn't even real shellac.. the polish they used was so thin and sheer. I was clearly dissatisfied with the outcome of the application of the polish as well. There's clumping and the polish is on my skin... this photo was taken hours after the manicure was done. There's already chipping! Went up to the register to pay and showed the voucher. The lady said that it wasn't valid. I showed her that it was clearly for Venus Nails. And she kept saying it wasn't for their salon. We were CLEARLY at Venus Nails so I'm not sure why she kept denying that. So I had to pay full price for pedis and a mani that were NOT worth the money. She could've at least discounted it or something. If you want to run a business and serve in the customer service industry, then do a good job at it. Terrible customer service. read more

So I am new this area and after lots of searching I found this place in Yelp with mix reviews but i decided to give it a try. I have mix feelings too just like the review. So i walk in there and the place was empty with just 1 soul in it (saturday afternoon) went there for a pedi and mani and i took my parents and they got a deluxe pedi. So the old lady that i got made me suffer this is the first time ever a pedi or mani hurt so bad, i had to reminded her to be gentle and not be so rough... She almost burned me with those hot bags they put in your feet... That was extremely hot! But in the end i wonr denied my pedi and mani look ok. They also charged me to removed the color. I never had that happened before, but o well. read more

I'm confused, do you only take appointments or what cause I called and asked if you accept walk ins and the response was yes come in. Wasted my damn time because I get here and was told there's an appointment. I don't mind waiting after an appointment but you made it seem like there wasn't any time. If that was the case then don't tell me to come in. Never coming here again.. learn to communicate and don't waste people's time. read more

I was in a rush to get a full set of acrylic nails and a spa pedi before leaving for vacation the next day, and these gals graciously squeezed me in just before closing. The gal who did my nails worked so fast but didn't skimp on quality at all. My nails turned out great! I loved the extra flower the other gal painted on my toes too...perfect for a vacation in Vegas! Really nice and friendly. Got a fill on my acrylics and they look better than before! A few of my nails were a bit uneven but they were shaped to a look the same and even. I appreciate that they informed me to just get them refilled rather than getting complete new ones and helped me save my time and money. My new got to nail salon! read more

2 stars not for the quality of work (which was good for the few times I went in), but the issues I had with the lady telling me I needed to come in earlier when I was already there 2 hours before closing. The first time I had the issue I came in an hour before closing. She told she was trying to leave early and to come in earlier next time. I had no problem with that and next time I came in two hours before closing. She was finishing up a pedicure and no one else was in the salon. She told me she wanted to leave early again and she couldn't see me. She looked at my nails and told me they could wait which I thought was a little rude. Regardless they need to either adjust their hours or stop trying to leave early. They won't be getting my business again. read more

I purchased a deal on here for my friend's birthday. I took off work, planned my whole day around this only to show up and find out this business is under new management and had no idea what yelp was let alone the deal I purchased. I tried to figure out how to get my money refunded for this deal so I could actually give my friend a birthday gift and as of yet I am still out $100 and do not have my nails done. I have never used yelp for deals and I will be very careful to do it again. Nothing like groupon. Buyer beware! read more

Good service and very polite ladies BUT the $50 for $75 is not something they honor. The lady said she never posted it nor asked YELP to do that. I mentioned she might want to email them to get if taken off as I came in to use it. She didn't seem interested. That doesn't sound like good business to allow your customers to be mislead. read more

Didn't have to wait too long but the pedicure was very rushed which would be fine if I got the basic one but I went for the $35 special with all the bells and whistles. I wanted to be pampered and i felt like i was an inconvenience. Was very disappointed. The tech didn't leave the callus remover on for even 30 seconds before haphazardly scrubbing my feet. She also worked on another client while she was with me--left the hot towels on me until there were COLD. Felt very impersonal. Also I noticed she used the same file for the previous client... no! Will never come back. read more

I've been on the hunt for a good nail place since I moved to Tacoma few years ago. This is the third place I've tried and it's okay. It was quick, and moderately priced. I just wasn't that impressed with it. But, it's definitely on my list of places. read more

I really really wanted to like this place! The reviews were great and they took me right away when I walked in. I showed them a picture of what I wanted...a gel or shellac pedicure to withstand the beaches of Hawaii. I chose my colors and they informed me that one of the colors changed colors. I was okay with that or at least I thought I was..I was later talked out of it but not given the option of another gel color. The older lady did a great job with all the callus removal, hot stone massage, paraffin wax dip, and everything...very meticulous. But then the lady who would be painting my nails came over with colors from the regular polish wall. One was not even close to the blue I wanted and I had to have them change it. The lighter color turned out to be more pink than a pearly white which bugs me so much. I told the older lady that no I wanted gel. She said, "oh, she'll do it." But then she started painting my nails with the lighter color. There was another girl getting her nails done with a bratty disrespectful teenager and so I didn't feel like being rude and was just too timid to speak up. There was also the language barrier. She did my nails and all I kept thinking was...this is not going to withstand my trip to Hawaii this week!! I wasn't satisfied with the final product and I felt like I wasted $35. The paint job she did wasn't even that good upon further inspection...the jewels aren't symmetrical and the sponging wasn't even done to the edge of my nail. I would get it redone somewhere else if I had the money. read more

I am simply appalled by the customer service here. I brought a friend who is recovering from an injury as a treat and it was everything but that. The nail technician put way too many layers on her nails and they clumped up easily. Today we came back and the technician had been incredibly rude. She basically scolded and yelled at my friend, rebuking her for the issue. When my friend mentioned that she typically went to another nail place, the woman said "so why don't you go there?"-what unacceptable behavior!! On top of that, we waited a long time when we were told 15 minutes. I nor anyone I know will ever spend another penny here!! read more

They're okay. Good pedi but the fill I got here was regretful. I ended up going to my normal place and getting them taken off and redone. They didn't do the shape I wanted at all, filed them in too much, left areas lifted and just didn't look good. Hopefully they'll get better. read more

They advertise that they do shellac and they do not. This is turning into a theme with salons which I strongly dislike because I want shellac and not gel (yes, they are different). But my nails desperately needed to be done and this was down the street so I figured if they didn't actually do shellac it was better to have gel than nothing. I walked in and was able to sit down immediately; it was clean and the girl that greeted me (I can't spell her name I'm sure, but it sounded like ga-tee) was very pleasant. She did a pretty good job, although she didn't do gel quite right; didn't seal the edge of the exposed nail and I ended up with a couple little bubbles that popped leaving tiny pinprick chips, but they're hardly noticeable I am still on the hunt for a nail place in the area that actually does shellac, but this is the most pleasant atmosphere I have found thus far and if the worst part is nearly invisible chips I would happily go here over any other place. And it was only $30 for french tip gel, which is a very good price, and they didn't charge me for removing the previous gel polish. read more
