    ***READ THIS B4 SCHEDULING! BEWARE DO NOT BOOK ANY APPOINTMENTS ONLINE!*** I read thru past history comments & there's a common theme associated w/CHARME - crap customer service. I regret not doing my homework before scheduling. It was an $85 mistake---but shout out to AMEX---TY for investigating my dispute. AMEX- don't leave home w/o it. Enjoy the review---------------------- **WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE** ***AWFUL FINANCIAL POLICY*** They rob their customers. Owner/Management lacks empathy and they are unwavering with there cancelation policy. If an appointment is BOOKED ONLINE and you cancel within 24 hours, THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE SERVICE is charged to your credit card. In my case, this was $85!!! What happened---I booked an appointment on 9 MAY at 2:15pm for a 4:15pm appointment. My son had a DDA case manager appointment at the house at 3pm and it went longer than expected. I called the salon at 4:15pm to ask if I can reschedule. I was offered another appointment, but was told that I would still need to PAY THE $85 cancellation fee. MY JAW DROPPED! They said the owner would call me to discuss other options. When the DDA case manager left my house at about 5:30pm, I hadn't receive a call, so I drove over to the salon to speak with the manager/owner. Well that was useless. Interaction was brief and Martina was clearly put off that I was there to discuss the $85 as if I was the CRAZY ONE. No, I am not!!! There was no room for negotiating down the $85, first time offense, repeat client appreciation. Customer service is a dying element within business industries. I would pay double for a pedicure, if it was accompanied by amazing customer service, which is why I shop at Nordstrom and Patagonia. They are amazing. Having said this, clearly this company is MORE INTERESTED IN THEIR REVENUE and NOT THEIR CLIENTS. I am happy to spend a small portion of my big pay checks at other businesses that treat their customers with respect. Charme stays in business by taking advantage of their clients. Personally, I think the whole no water thing is a gimmick...not having to pay money for water & electricity to run salon chairs saves Martina LOTS OF MONEY, but their prices are among the highest in Tacoma. Life is unpredictable and full of surprises and if a business owner can't empathize with that, then I don't want DO SPEND MONEY on a business THAT DOESN'T put people first. (Sounds like our current president). Read her reply which reads like an AI assisted response or perhaps it's was cut and pasted from her previous Yelp replies to dissatisfied customers. I foresee Charme being out of business in the next three years, they won't survive the current economy.

    Not worth it. Wouldn't recommend. Paid $128 with 18% tip for a mani with polish, and pedi with clear polish. Spent almost 2hrs there. I recognize I was a walk-in and they're appointment only. After 10min into my manicure, I changed my mind to only get a manicure and they said there's a 24hr cancellation policy so I was locked into also getting a pedicure (but I just walked in?). I'm mainly upset that my nails look stubby, short, and dry. Both the manicure and pedicure did not involve water (dry pedicure) and there's no added benefit ie lotion, massage, water/tea, etc. They did have a wine/cocktail/beverage bar, but I wasn't offered anything. Basically, I could have bought the supplies and given myself the same results at home. Update: I just got home, took off my shoes, and talking about the experience is making me more upset. No hot towels, lotion, scrub, wash, or massage. They literally took a spray bottle to my feet and didn't even clean under my nails. How can they justify this price for the experience??

    Bumpy texture

    I tried this place out and it was truly the worst mani pedi I've ever had. Expensive but shoddy. My polish was running low so she added in thinner and I ended up with nails that were bubbly and uneven. Several of my nails still had little nail shards at the end, making them sharp and uneven looking. No real trimming of the cuticles or dry skin. I overhead some of the other nail techs making fun of a previous customer. I asked for a french tip and was told, oh we only do art with gel (fair enough) but also there isn't time for gel so, actually, just no. Never had a nail place just refuse to do something so basic. Bad vibes all around. I came home and took the polish off and fixed it myself. I will not be back. Updated with a picture of the bad texture. Per response from owner, okay, I misunderstood your somewhat complicated website and set of rules! That doesn't change the fact that the basic service I ended up getting wasn't good. What a relief that my bad time was apparently all my fault!

    Awesome service and worth the price you pay. The establishment is clean and everyone friendly. I see some reviews about having to pay for a missed session but they do not have walk in services only scheduled - so if you don't reschedule to give them enough time to fill the slot that is unearned time. It is in their agreement that you will have to pay for the slot you missed. Make sure you plan ahead for contingency childcare if you must. I recommend any of the team. They are all superb.

    Thank you, Charme Studios, for the best service ever! I'm always greeted when I walk in the door. I have my nails perfect and ready for St Patricks Day! Do yourself a favor and go get a Bijou Gel Manicure. You won't regret it! The shine you see is cat eye. Best bang for your buck!

    The employee in charge of booking could use some staff development in customer service. I booked an appointment on Nov 17 for service on Dec 5th. On Nov 28th I received a text that their system glitched and I would need to reschedule. I was pretty bummed and asked if the other customer had been asked about rescheduling. She let me know that it was a group booking who booked in October. Understandable. I let her know I wasn't trying to be difficult and could reschedule to the week before but also asked if this was typical. I felt like her response of "as we stated it was a glitch" was a snarky "as per my last email". I let them know that I understood the glitch but that didn't acknowledge whether or not it is common and thanked her for reaching out. She responded with "Specifying it was a glitch should suffice. But you seem super concerned so I went ahead and cancelled your appointment". All for small business and the owner's model seems great but a simple "sorry for the inconvenience this doesn't typically happen" would have "sufficed." Darn. Was looking forward to trying this place but I'll just stick with La Bella (also in Proctor). Edit: Updated with the full text exchange. I originally gave a 3 star review because I thought the exchange was not the friendliest but figured it was an employee not the owner and probably caught her on a bad day. Then a friend let me know that this "professional" business has a "days since last Karen" countdown and the owner was polling her social media followers on this exchange while not being honest about her responses. Yikes.

    Decided to try a "dry pedicure" for the first time. Website states how much better of a pedicure you get when your feet don't soak up water. Direct quote from their website "A better pedicure in which the nail tech can address problem areas (such as calluses and rough skin) as they will be visible when feet aren't saturated" As you can see from the picture the amount of scrubbing they do on your feet is a joke. She did not remove any of the dead skin or calluses. I get pedicures religiously and my last pedicure was 13 days ago, so there was not a large build up dead skin. I paid for the top pedicure. To walk out with my feet looking and feeling horrible for $75 is a joke.

    Hands down the most terrible (and most expensive) manicure I've ever received. It's too bad because the shop is cute and clean, and the owner and staff are friendly. But WHY would you let someone walk out of your shop with nails looking like this??? Especially after they told you it was their birthday... - Cuticle clean up was sub par - Polish with large gap at nail bed. - Lumpy, bumpy polish application - Can see nail through polish in spots Do I need to go on?? Very poor representation and low level of pride for your business. How embarrassing...

    Best quality pedicure in Tacoma! I love that it's waterless and the highest in sanitation.

    THIS IS THE SPOT YALL!! I just got back from my first appointment and instantly booked another. This salon is fantastic-very clean, cute and amazing service. I am a terrible nail biter and finally decided to get a mani to stop and help my nails grow. I normally hate going to salons because of how self-conscious I am with my nails, but Malaya was not only very professional (and talented!!!) but she was so fun to chat with! She instantly put me at ease and made the experience so wonderful. Plus-THIS GIRL IS AN ARTIST!! I cannot recommend enough 11/10

    Is there a way to fix a broken nail since acrylic isn't used?

    Yes! We have various options we can use in place of acrylics. All options are soak off options like gel polish. Without damaging your nails.

    Do they do encapsulated gold leaf nails?

    We do not as those are usually done with acrylic nails and we do not do acrylic nails. We specialize in natural nails services: regular polish, gel polish, nail strengthening treatments and help clients grow their nails naturally.

    Do they do walk in?

    Probably, but it's so easy to book online and then you won't have to wait.

When I walked in there was no introduction or greeting, she immediately asked me who I was seeing and I didn't remember her name since it was my first time there. She laughed when I said I didn't know and then asked if I needed the bathroom. I said yes, and turned to my left (which was the treatment room) and her response was extremely condescending about that not being the bathroom. Again, I've never been there. A quick "hello, my name is Laurinda, this is where you will receive your facial today" is all it would've taken. It was a very negative first impression. About ten minutes into the facial treatment she ripped my nose hoop out and claimed she didn't know I had it. It's a large gold hoop, it's very obvious. Most facialist ask me to leave it in because with it out, my skin is technically "open" and it's a liability, so I was relying on her professionalism to handle that request. She didn't apologize but just stated, "If I would've know that was there I'd have asked you to take it out." If she would've introduced herself to me at the start of my appointment and looked at my face, she would've seen my nose hoop. But somehow it was my fault. I'm a little worried that she was less than foot from my face during the treatment and claimed she couldn't see it. Ten minutes later she proceeded to rip out my earring on my right ear. She then blamed that on me (again) saying that my earrings were weird because they had a back post. I'm pretty sure 95% of earrings have posts. She then proceeded (without my permission) to aggressively rub my ears. I asked her to stop because it hurt and she said "I'm trying to feel your earrings to understand what I'm working with." I realized when I got home that my ear was actually bleeding. Overall, the whole experience was extremely uncomfortable and quite frankly painful at times. I regret not leaving sooner. This was a Mother's Day gift and it left me more stressed and upset than when I walked in. When I left the treatment room after getting dressed she was no where to be found. 0/10 for customer service.

I had a major hair emergency this weekend and needed it fixed right away so I could go back to work feeling confident. I called a bunch of hairstylists on Instagram but no one had any same day availability which I understood completely, but I had to keep searching. I decided to look for a formal salon on google and Chroma was the first suggestion. Living in Des Moines, Tacoma seemed a little far but I was in a crisis so I booked the slot for 1 pm with Terry Ross. I was nervous because the person who ruined my hair shattered my trust. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the establishment was modern with its open floor plan, clean and both customers and hairdressers all seemed happy, engaged in conversation while working - immediately a good vibe. Terry acknowledges me and as soon as she's finished with the previous customer she comes over to me to take a look at what she's dealing with (a color disaster to say the least) Terry really took her time to evaluate what was done to my hair by the previous person. She went over the details of what she planned on doing to correct my hair color making sure to address all my questions in the process. We had a really lovely time chatting while she worked on the foils. She checked the foils often and made sure to make me feel comfortable throughout the entire visit. The outcome was unbelievable to me because when I walked in I looked like a fox (not in a good way) and Terry sent me out the door with a high level of confidence in my appearance. This is my new girl, she is so talented!!!! Chroma Salon in Tacoma is now my favorite

Sarah listened, asked questions, listened some more, and was very clear on my hopes before she ever picked up scissors. I don't speak "hair" and she went over what end results I'd see in different scenarios. The best part is that I have a really good haircut now, and Sarah let me know after I live with it, if there are any changes I should come back in. She stands by her work. 10/10, go see her!
