Got to see my girl Maddie yesterday and can I just say... she's the BEST! I've been getting massage for over 20 years and this chick is quite possibly the greatest of all time! I told her I will follow her where ever she may go at any time. Now on to reception.. I cannot recall the gals name but she was also very sweet and accommodating. She has a very chill, mellow vibe and seems like she just takes it as it comes. She mentioned that I hadn't been in, in over a year and I was adamant that I had.. she just smiled and said ok :) well the truth was she was right and I was mistaken. Bless her heart. I love the decor it's a beautiful office. I actually go to both offices, on 6th and also market. 6th ave is cozy and parking is easy. I haven't ever been for a full day at the spa. I arrived early for my booked day and I was treated with a rose foot bath, tea, a neck wrap and then 30 minutes in the steam room with a six headed shower. AND I HADN'T EVEN STARTED MY PACKAGE! That was all complementary! Then the massage... Omg... I can't even describe the technical abilities that my therapist had. I was so relaxed and destressed that I honestly started drooling! Gross I know but it was fantastic. The facial was also amazing. It was more like talking with a friend and being pampered than having a service done. I have told so many of my friends, men and woman, about this spa and I've told my husband that GCs to this spa is THE ONLY THING I want for presents EVER AGAIN! I came across this location while looking for an alternative to my naturopath, because I had missed her hours here in Tacoma. The reviews looked good for Serenity and they offered vitamin B injections which is what I was looking for. The location is on a busy corner but luckily there is an underground parking garage which is always nice especially in our random PNW weather. The spa promptly sent me a text message after our phone conversation, to confirm my appointment and gave me parking and elevator instructions. Again, very helpful! I hate wandering around trying to figure out where I'm supposed to go!! It's a spa and the whole experience should be chill. This was a bonus for sure! I filled out more paperwork then I wanted but I know it's necessary, so make sure to follow their instructions and arrive about 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment. Hot tea and other beverages available while you wait. I reviewed the menu of injection options and was soon greeted by Jeremy. Jeremy has already read over My intake paperwork and we discussed why I wanted these services. He graciously answered my questions and helped me select a combination that fit my concerns. During this meeting I was introduced to the thought of acupuncture as a treatment for my symptoms and concerns. Before leaving I scheduled an appointment for the weekend. That treatment and my vitamin injection where great and I plan to go back! **Pro Tip- Acupuncture is sometimes covered by some health insurance so check with your provider before you go to see if you can save money if possible. My provider covers this kind of treatment but this service provider is not in my network. HOWEVER; because of this excellent experience I will return and pay cash to be seen again. And Jeremy is a great listener and teacher on eastern medicine practices for novices like myself. read more

I recently had a massage at serenity that was Ahhh-mazing! Taylor was my massage therapist, she was very professional and went above and beyond to make sure my experience was exceptional. She listened to my needs, and came up with an extensive massage that hit all the points I needed. It was the best massage I have ever had! I will only see her from now on! I have nothing but great things to say about the staff at this spa (University place location), especially Kelly the massage therapist - she was client centered, kind, communicated openly and left me feeling SO relaxed after my 90 min massage. I'm giving a lower review because of management. I originally had a $50 gift card under spa finder that I planned to use. The first appointment I made in early Jan was cancelled because the massage therapist was sick...no problem, I understood. I booked a second appointment in early Feb which was really the earliest one I could get next. Before my appointment, I had asked the receptionist about the gift card over the phone, they told me I could use it and just had to bring it in. Fast forward to massage day, I go to the front desk after my massage to pay and they tell me I can't use the gift card. They had apparently stopped accepting the gift cards starting Jan 31. I was hit with a bill I was not expecting to pay because I was relying on the $50 gift card they had told me I could use. I emailed the company when I got home in hopes of being compensated out of good faith, however they unfortunately could not make an exception despite this being an error on their part. Overall I'm disappointed in the management and the handling this issue. $50 doesn't seem like much to some people, but for me it's a lot of money. read more

I'm new to Tacoma and looking for new places for all my self care and maintenance needs. I tried Serenity for a facial. When I arrived the space was calm and serene. I was set up with a warm neck wrap, foot soak, and water while I waited. The lobby quickly filled up and got crowded without enough seats for guests and all the employees passing through. My facial went well. My skin felt hydrated afterwards and it was mostly calming. Extraction was pinchy and painful but it usually is. I prefer vacuum extractors - much more comfortable - so I'll probably look for a place that uses those machines. I'll keep Serenity in mind, though, and maybe try a massage someday. read more

We got a gift card as a Xmas gift so we actually had a good chunk to spend as non-patient customers. We've been to many different couples massages and were excited to try something new! We opted for the 1 hr couples massage and added the deep tissue add on. We also added on the foot treatment for me and the cold stone head massage for hubby for an extra cost. We arrived at our appointment on time, had to fill out paperwork like a medical appointment and were promptly rushed in to get settled on the table. At other couples massages there is more chill time before hand to enjoy the surroundings, change/chill in robe, etc before getting into it. The deep tissue add on was nothing special, we usually feel quite a bit sore after a deep tissue massage but we both agreed it felt like a general massage. What they fail to make clear is the add ons don't add on extra time, so the massage was cut short to fit in the add ons at the end. No more than 5 min was spent massaging each area before quickly moving to the add on services. All services ended promptly 1 hr after our arrival time so our actual massage was no more than 35min. This easily would have been a 2 hour appointment to accommodate time to get settled and extra time for add on services at other spas. I don't recall being told to arrive early to avoid cutting into massage time and did not see an early arrival message on my text reminder. The website doesn't make clear that add on services cut your massage time short. Definitely don't get the add ons if you want to take full advantage of the massage time. I'll give the place at least 2 stars as the atmosphere was peaceful and the staff was pleasant. Definitely didn't get our monies worth, which is a bummer knowing others had such great experiences here! It felt more like a timed/rushed doc appointment than a true spa experience. The worst part was having to tell the person who gave us the gift card that we didn't have the best experience. Maybe they overbooked, or just don't have the timing right for couples massages just yet so we are willing to rewrite this review if they make it right. Otherwise we wouldn't recommend the couples massage for non-patient appointments, there are better experiences out there for the money! read more

I started a couple of years ago when my friend was turning 30, and they put together a lovely afternoon for us-a different massage each, complimentary mimosas, and a eucalyptus steam in the steam room. Heavenly! More recently, I've been going to Dr. Colombini as my naturopath, and have since started regular massage therapy for head aches. Soon after, I made an appointment and have been coming on a regular basis to see Jannine Krause ND ever since. Words cannot express the gratitude I hold for Jannine. She has supported me in making lasting healthy lifestyles changes which have allowed me to live a more comfortable, balanced and energy filled life. She is a true expert in her field and could teach classes to other medical professionals on how to provide top quality bedside manner. I have never in my life received such excellent medical care. I have often been thrown prescriptions for every ache and pain however, with Jannine have been able to achieve health through holistic measures. This is not to say she won't prescribe medication (i.e. antibiotics) if needed. Love it here! Unlike the "spas" you see groupons for, this one actually is a real spa that has a very calming feeling inside and is beautifully decorated. While you wait, you can have a neckwrap or a foot soak - very nice (although the neck wraps have a slightly odd scent). They also have tea or water for you to drink while you wait. I had Taylor for both times I've been, and she did an amazing job. I also once went for a couple's massage with my boyfriend. His massage therapist (can't remember her name) was also very good. You can also book the steam room/shower for free for a half hour - and that's a nice treat. I recommend doing it after the massage. I was given a confirmation call the day before and given info about what time to show up for paperwork and some tips on parking for the Market St. location, which was super helpful as it can be hectic When I walked in, I was welcomed by the relaxing spa aroma and calm music; I was offered water, tea, and a neck wrap while I waited. My massage with Kayley was awesome and very much customized to my needs as well as a custom detox facial by Marina that has brought my congested skin back to life! I visited Serenity for the first time last night. The waiting room is so cute and relaxing. They offer you hot tea, fruit infused water, a warm neck wrap, and a warm foot bath while you wait. I got there 15 minutes before my appointment which allowed time to fill out the paperwork and enjoy a neck wrap and the waiting room. There are candles everywhere and it is very comfortable. I got a 30 minutes massage with Nicki and it was fantastic. This was my first massage and I didn't really know exactly what to expect. The massage bed is heated and very cozy. Nicki was very professional and I asked her to focus on my upper back and neck. She did just that. I wish I had booked her for an hour because it was fantastic and relaxing. The only down side is that the massage room I was in was right next to the front desk so I could hear people coming in and out. There was relaxing music on during the massage, but I could still hear the background noise. Even the stapler haha! It didn't bother me too much, but I can imagine that other guest would be turned off by that. I love this place and will be back to treat myself to an hour massage soon! Wow - this place is amazing! My husband and I were blessed enough to have a 4-hour spa package gifted to us and Serenity did not disappoint. When we arrived we were taken back to the beautiful decorated waiting area and given some fruit infused water to sip on while we waited for our appointments (we were a few minutes early). We were greeted by the ladies that would be performing the services and they were both very friendly, professional, and did a phenomenal job with everything that they did for us. I recently had the chance to receive Constitutional Facial Acupuncture treatments from Jamie Davis at Serenity Spa. I'm new to this form of acupuncture and was eager to try it due to its emphasis on whole body wellness. Jamie's technique was gentle and relaxing. She seems to have a real intuition about what to work with in the body and often incorporates craniosacral work into the mix, which I love! After the treatments I felt refreshed and bright. My skin looked better than it had in months and I felt completely relaxed and peaceful for the rest of the week. Good stuff. Beautiful setting....plus I hear she's getting to move her treatment rooms across the street where it will be even more quiet and geared more toward acupuncture, yoga and counseling. Yum! read more
