No, you will be sitting in the makeup section at the benefit counter, in the Tacoma Mall Macys. The woman who did my brows was really nice, but their whole process is not worth the money that they charge. I thought this was going to be a good experience due to the price, usually nice eyebrow waxes are $25. They essentially do a really quick wax and minimal pluck and then put makeup all over you to make your brows look good - or, to "hide the redness." I went home and noticed that my top brow was hardly done. They totally try to sell you on their products too with the whole, "oh wow, this cover up matches you really well..." They then asked me if I wanted someone to put makeup on me and play around.. I thought they were bored and doing me a favour? Idk.. nope trying to sell products. Threading hurts but I get waxed here since we're told nail salons aren't fully licensed to do waxing at all. Which they've messed up my brows multiple times so I stopped going there and eventually found my spot here at this location. Anyways, after waxing most of my brow they always ask if they can thread just a little bit, which I've always said that's fine as long as it's not mostly threaded and instead waxed like I asked. Well, this day (Saturday 9/21/24) which was yesterday, I go in and end up seeing the wax artist I would go to in the first place (last year) but hardly saw again. I was told it's because she only works Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and I was always going throughout the weekday or Sundays; she's the older short light skin lady, could be the manager or not. So of course after waxing she asks to thread a little, and since everyone else has done it without trouble I figured this time wouldn't hurt. But as she got to the eye lid, I felt a pinch a few times in a row. It stung but not like a normal thread should but I thought maybe I'm just sensitive this session. Thinking back on it now, she put A LOT of gel after she finished which I thought was weird but just brushed it off. Come to find out it was her hiding the fact that I was bleeding since she nicked me multiple times but didn't say anything. I even flinched multiple times and she never said sorry or anything at all. The service finished and I checked the mirror to see it was alright looking which it was decent (I saw some hairs below my brow but just wanted to be done with it) and said it's good. But obviously wasn't bleeding because she JUST wiped it again before I sat up to check it. I paid and walked out. Went across the way to that clothing store literally right after and when I looked at my sister she told me I was bleeding. I used the clothings stores full body mirror to see that I was, pretty bad too. So we walk right back over to Brow Arc and I show her and she says "do you always have sensitive skin?" I said "Yes but I've never had this happen before. Is there something you can do?" She offered me more cooling gel and that was it. I didn't want to pry more so we just left. We walked to the food court and sat down and I had my sister take photos while it was still "fresh" (see photos below). It wasn't until I got home that it started to sting even more, so since yesterday I've been using cooling gel when it acts up and it's slowly getting better. In my 14 years of getting my brows waxed and/or threaded from MULTIPLE artists and locations I have NEVER had this happen before because of "sensitive skin" like she suggested. I paid for a service that actually injured me that an artist lied about thinking I wouldn't notice. That also didn't help or offer partial refund, and she was even tipped for it too. I really wanted to love this place but not everything is always best for you. Unfortunately, I will NOT be returning to this place and I hope people take this review into consideration as well.

The issue came into play with my second 18 - 20 month touch up I initially had to move my appointment out due to multiple deaths in the family & testing positive for covid and relayed that to her she allowed me to push it out then come to our rescheduled date she texted me that morning about having a migraine and needing to reschedule which obviously I was okay with being that I also had to do the same and then when I tried to contact her to reschedule she never responded to my DMs, texts, or emails. Ultimately I ended up losing my deposit because she never responded I have to this day still not gotten them touched up which my initial appointments were 2021 and my second touch up was 2022. It was the one following touch up that that I was never able to reschedule. I will say even with the disappointing customer service it's 2025 and I have not had them touched up since 2022 and they still look great minimal fading etc every time I get them waxed or my eyelashes done I get compliments still.

I found Karina back in 2019 I believe on Facebook after I had a traumatic experience somewhere else. I was afraid to get my lashes done again, but as soon as I sat in Karina's chair my fear went away. I remember that day she first examined my lashes to make sure they were healthy before giving me a new set & honestly, the rest has been history. My go to's are always the Hybrid lash set which is a happy medium between classics & volume. She does all kinds of sets you can think of, different lengths to tailor your eyes, different beautiful eyelash curl patterns, she adds color, I mean this girl has no limits to what she can do. I am of mixed ethnicities - my mother is Vietnamese and my father is Black. My natural hair color is jet black (blue-black in the sun) and I have type 3b curly hair. I am very particular about my hair and I don't trust just anyone to color my hair. As a matter of fact, in the 24 years that it's been colored, only 3 people have colored it. The original guy in Detroit who first colored it, my prior stylist here in Washington, and then my current stylist in California (I moved to Cali in 2006). I usually get my roots touched up every 6-8 weeks and I get blonde highlights in the spring and summer months. Due to COVID-19, salons in Cali still have not been able to open for coloring (only for outdoor haircuts) and it's been 6 months since my last appointment. My hair is so dark and needs 40 volume to be lifted, so it has to be done professionally. I was desperately waiting for my stylist to get approval to open. I had about 4.5 inches of root growth and it was driving me crazy! I ended up having to go to Seattle with my sister for a quick weekend to take care of some business up there. Since Washington salons were open, I had the great idea of going back to my prior stylist in Gig Harbor. I was so happy about the option to go back to her, but it turns out she was on vacation on the dates I was coming to town. I was so bummed and complained to my other sister who lives in Tacoma and owns a hot yoga studio there. She knows that I was apprehensive about letting someone new color my hair. I told her that I might take a chance and try Gene Juarez and asked her opinion about that. She told me that one of her yoga students owned a salon and suggested I go to her instead. That student was Amy, owner of Virde Salon. My sis checked with Amy, but she was booked solid on my dates (which was only 2.5 weeks away) and she referred me to Chelsea. Amy assured my sis that Chelsea was good and would take good care of me. Thankfully, I was able to book a spot on Chelsea's calendar for Friday, 8/14, and then I reached out to her via text, after checking out her work on her IG page, to inquire about a phone consultation before coming in. She had replied that she preferred to communicate via text, but she could do a phone call if I preferred. I was thankful that she was willing to do a call because I really needed to discuss my hair needs and my nervousness about going to someone new. I was fine going to text communication after the initial call. On the phone call, she was very pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable about her craft so I felt more at ease about coming in. The day of my appointment, I arrived at the salon, excited and nervous at the same time. I immediately felt comfortable with Chelsea. We hit it off with conversation like she had been my stylist for years. She made me feel at ease by explaining what she was doing throughout my appointment. I learned some stuff I didn't even know about color that day! Chelsea colored my roots, put in highlights, and trimmed my ends. I explained to her that at home, I usually left the salon with wet hair and let my curls dry naturally. She asked if she could diffuse my hair so that she could make sure that the color match was correct (and so she could make any needed corrections immediately), because if I left with wet hair, I wouldn't see the true color until the next day after it dried and she didn't want the color to be off. I had a bad experience with diffusion before and I didn't want that. She then offered to blow dry and flat iron my hair. I was so excited about this option because my current stylist doesn't blow dry/flat iron my hair. I think it's because I have so much hair, and it's thick. Honestly, it's been over 14 years now so I don't even know the full reason any more, she just doesn't do it. I haven't had my hair flat ironed professionally in probably 25 years! Chelsea said that it was important to her that the client has the full salon experience, which includes walking out the salon feeling transformed. Well, let me tell you, I got the full experience that day! My color was absolutely gorgeous and Chelsea got my hair so straight and it was stunning! I got soooo many compliments from friends and family and strangers all week! I felt so beautiful leaving the salon. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Chelsea did some sort of magic in my hair, because it stayed perfectly straight for a full week, and I only need to lightly run a flat iron over it 2 times in that week. I am so glad to have found Chelsea, and if California salons don't open up for a while longer and I happen to need to go up to Seattle, I'm definitely going to see her again.

Time to cut i got nervous I was stuttering asking her if she remember the photo I showed her she said yes so she parted my hair on the side after telling her I wear it both directions STILL with her siccors and Cut my hair in a straight line. Did not touch the shorter layers I have or my bangs just the straight line then she began the blowout and style another 30 mins after all this time and money I am extremely happy with how my hair turned out. Recommending IF you are not in a hurry and or you have patience.
