Venus III - New American Near Me - Hanson, Massachusetts

We frequent Venus III but haven't been by in awhile. Stopped in on a Wednesday and noticed they had an $8 burger night. We got the spinach and artichoke dip for a starter and it was very good. I ordered the fried sea scallops and thought they were good. They weren't huge and there were nine on the plate with fries. I hoped for larger scallops but still thought it was decent for the price. The menu is huge so it should be good for people with specific tastes. Will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I stopped today for lunch. This location has changed several times in the last few years. This tenant is a sports bar. It's very open and clean and has a TV at every table which is a nice touch. They have live music so I imagine that it's pretty hopping at night. My wife had crab stuffed haddock with squash and Mashed potatoes. She said that it seemed like there wasn't much crab in it but that it was still delicious. She also really liked the butternut squash. I had a buffalo chicken pizza, and a 2 dollar pint of suds. The pizza had a lot of chicken on it, and the crust was very good. The beer was cold, and tasted great. I'll return, its a real good value. read more

Super nice but bad service not great food and my servicier spilled my drink not worth it in my opinion

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich lunch special. Find something better for $6 and I'll call you a liar. Completely renovated wall to wall. Huge bar with more TVs than Best Buy. Nice outside deck. Great variety on the menu and the prices are a very reasonable. Where else are you going to go in Hanson anyways? Just sayin' read more

Slow, tvs at tables don't work, food is not good (spit out a lot of it), fountain sodas taste gross, But always very nice staff. This place needs a menu makeover, and fresh food in a big way. I will look elsewhere for a meal. read more

I went to this restaurant for the first time last week. A family friend was having a party in the convention room. I never knew it existed it was a pleasant surprise. The place had a good amount of traffic coming and going. I was in the function room and they had trays of food. I didn't try a lot of it because I'm a vegetarian but everyone was raving about how great it was. I would defiantly try this establishment again. They had a good size function room. If your looking for a hall for a party or event I would suggest stoping by here. read more

We LOVE this place. It has a huge bar and a very comprehensive menu. I used to swear that Cape Cod Café in Brockton has the best bar pizza around but that was until we found this place. We order them well done with lace edges and they are perfectly cooked and totally awesome! Another favorite is the buffalo chicken tacos. Cut up buffalo chicken in a soft taco with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese and a drizzle of either ranch or blue cheese dressing. You get 3 of them and they are refreshing and filling. And they have the best blue cheese dressing I've ever had. They have special burgers for a great price on Wednesday night that can't be beat. They offer a good selection of beers/ales on draft and are reasonably priced. Bartenders are all top of the line service wise. They usually have live music on Friday and Saturday nights and book really good bands. It's a sports bar so there are TVs every where. They even have them on the outside smoking deck. Did I mention we love this place? read more

This place is great! Friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, excellent menu and beverage selection, and offers one of the best bar-style pizzas I ever ate! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. read more

This is a decent local place. The burgers, pizzas and fries are decent. I wouldn't get too adventurous and have the fish-I never hear anything good about it. They could make many improvements-the salads always have a bunch of white lettuce-and some of the meals are just not fresh. But the pizza and beer are safe bets! The service is also on the slow side..... read more

Food: Dangerous. Ordered the mini tacos, feeling apprehensive about it from the start because that's kind of a gross thing to order at a bar. I ended up getting awful food poisoning for two days; unfortunately I never got to notify management. I most likely will never eat their food again, unless it's their pizza which is decent (but nothing like the Whitman location). Drinks: Great. Decent price. Mixed drinks are strong enough without being deadly. Drafts are usually on some kind of sale which is nice. Overall, a decent place to go grab a drink with friends and definitely the best bar in Hanson (though that's not much of an accomplishment). Some nice live entertainment with a good deal of variety between them. If you are from the WH area, it's likely you will see many people you know there on a weekend, being that it's a local watering hole for anyone who doesn't want to venture outside of town lines. read more

When this place opened it was excellent. For the past 6 months or so, there has obviously been a new line of cooks, I usually order a chicken Cesar wrap or pizza. The wrap has always been either without dressing or lettuce is old, the chicken doesn't taste cooked, and even with having the extra dressing on the side added in different ways of it being ordered in, they still mess it up everytime. The pizza now 3 times has taken over 45 minutes, that is absolutely unacceptable. My dad and I live close so it's convenient but as of last night's un real wait time I will not be going back to this place. I don't even drink and it's unbelievable that the managers have let this issue carry on with whatever cook is there now deliberately ruining customer service. The servers and bartenders who place these orders it's not their fault but something has to be done about the line in the kitchen. read more

Pizza is very good and beer specials are nice but the beer could be colder. Burger was over cooked when I asked for medium and onion rings were heavily breaded. Salad had to be returned. Service and atmosphere is nice but I'd stick to pizza. read more

The staff tonight did such a great job - amazing hard working women. The restaurant was so clean and pleasant, this is my first time out to eat at seated service in 18 months. Food was very good, bar pizza greatly enjoyed and the beer taps were very cold. What really made my experience so great was the staff and the service. They really take pride in making sure their customers have a good experience, the teamwork I saw was excellent. As a GM in food service at a hospital, I appreciate food service workers more than most, and I can tell when individuals go above and beyond. Kudos to the ladies running the show tonight, and thank you for giving me a great night ! read more

Five star review specifically for the gluten free pizza! Legit the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. Even my friends who aren't gluten free love it! read more

Venus III is a decent sports bar. There is nothing that sets it apart from the rest though. They have a poor beer selection consisting of standard dull American lagers like budweiser, bud light, miller, coors, blue moon (coors) and yuengling. They added Sam Adams Rebel IPA recently, which is nice for an almost craft company. There food is good. They have a very good bar style pizza selection with lots of standard toppings and some regional toppings like Portuguese Linguica. They have decent sandwiches as well. Service is normally decent but have had a few poor encounters with waitresses but always been well taken care of at the bar. read more

I enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere of the Venus III. Everything always tastes great, and it's the type of place that allows you to hang around and occupy a table for a long time because of the bar atmosphere. The only negative experience I've ever had was with an older (middle aged) waitress who took our tables order gave me the wrong meal. When I kindly informed her of this, she told me, in an annoyed tone, I was wrong and I must have ordered the wrong thing. However, they were two completely different meals and I would have never ordered the meal they had accidentally given to me (it was spicy and I don't eat spicy food). Once she begrudgingly took my plate back to the kitchen, she returned 10 minutes later with the right order and told me the kitchen gave her the wrong one (so it had been a mistake after all). Later when my table paid our bill (in cash), she took the money and never brought back the change. She assumed all of the change was her tip which was a pretty bold assumption considering it would be 30%. Aside from this one negative experience, I've always enjoyed the Venus III. Being in it's suburban location, it is great for locals. I have also attended parties in the function room which were always great. read more

Stopped here to eat, but quickly changed our mind. Shortly after being seated and having ordered drinks I looked around and noticed the filth . Baseball bats had flies all over them on top of wall just above our booth It was sunny and it highlighted the dirt and grime. Floors weren't clean either. Paid for drinks and left. read more

What a bunch of thieving assholes. We ordered take out like we usually do but they managed to rip us off anyway. We have their take out menu and ordered our meals. We figured out our total and when we got there to pick it up it was almost $10 more. They don't charge the prices in the take out menu because they raised their prices. The only problem is they still have the same menus at the desk. I thought it was illegal to charge more than advertised. If you raise your prices, change your damn menus. I'll never order from these scumbag thieves again and advise everyone to avoid this place. I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

I have eaten here at least 20 times and i am sad to say that my service tonight may have been one the worst i have ever had. I ordered a burger and my gf got a chicken wrap and it took 28 minutes for our food to arrive, my problem was not with the food I understand if the kitchen is slow but my waitress was flat out rude and my drink was empty when my food was actually slid at us. I asked for a side of ranch dressing and it never came and i never had a chance to ask for a refill or to ask for my ranch either cause she did not even check on us once. she came by 15 minutes after we finished eating to drop off the wrong check so i asked for my refill and she never brought it. i think i am done going here, too bad i used to really enjoy it there, so if u go stick to sitting at the bar. read more

Food is alright I guess.. Pizza is good. The servers and bartenders are rude 90 percent of the time and I've been there plenty! If it was not so close to my friends house we would never go. read more

We love Venus pizza, their BLT is really great. Unfortunately there is something wrong with the crew on Friday nights, we have had numerous bad pizzas on Friday. It won't stop us from going there but we have been skipping it on Fridays. read more

I go to the Venus quite often for lunch or dinner. The staff there is very friendly and always provides good service. They offer free popcorn which is always awesome. My favorite item that they make is the pizza which is often on sale buy 1 get 1 free during certain days of the week. I also enjoy the Mac and cheese which I got tonight. I am sure I will end up going back again sometime soon. read more

Picked up pizza, great pub style pizza. Also great place to watch a game!

My wife and I took my mom here for her 41st-39th Birthday. My wife got a salad and ask the sum-young-dum waitress if the shrimp came grilled and she nodded yes. (If she asked if it it was boiled in turpentine, the answer would prob be the same) The shrimp actually came cold, and were the cheap fishy popcorn shrimp they charge and extra $6 for. My mom got the half price pizza (On Mondays) and a Greek salad. I got the seafood delight (?) which was pretty good, but a little heavy later in the night. Typically a waiter/waitress will swing by to inquire "How's everything?", but not in this case. She did the basics of her job, but not much more. Soo..food and and beer, is good. I think the management/ownership need to improve/retrain their wait staff since this seems to be a common complaint. The future of restaurants is having a tablet menu instead of a physical printed menu. So if you need another drink, condiment, or whatever, it will alert the waitstaff and bring the item to you without sending out a search party or tripping the waiter/waitress walking by. # my 3 cents read more

i've always heard great things and loves the other Venus' but I had a very bad experience here. I walked in at 10:30 on a thursday night to get a drink and a pizza and a women told us they were closing soon so we said okay we won't be long we're just having one drink and playing keno they shut off the keno before we could even check the games we played which were 2 games. lights were on at 1115 weirdest worst experience read more

Food is good, drinks are good. Just the same as Venus II in Marshfield only placed in the middle of nowhere. The vibe is totally different and the waitresses aren't as friendly. read more

Ok, the best bar pizza around. No matter what combination it is, they cook it to perfection. I like it extra crispy and laced. Laced is when they take cheese and spread it all along the edge of the pizza leaving a toasted crust of cheese. Spencer Burns is the master at making the perfect bar pie at Venus III. The waitresses are very nice, very entertaining. Good music too. Live bands. Give it a try. read more

Just went to Venus 3 Sports Bar & Grill. I had hyped it up to my wife because I had gone there a couple of times and gotten 2 good burgers. Got their, paid $50 for some cold grossly marinated steak tips with cold walmart bagged style rice and green beans dipped in marinara sauce. Some cold vasic shrimp scampi. And tater tots with 1/2 melted cheese and bacon crumbles. Will not be going back. read more

After being treated poorly at another location, my coworkers and I went to the Venus. We were immediately welcomed. Bartender and manger were great! They let us sit outside. Cheers to Venus and their great staff. We will be returning for sure. read more

I am familiar with the family that owns the Venus restaurants. I have frequented Venus in Whitman in the past and have been to Venus II in Marshfield. I have been to Venus III many times over the past few years. However, when I ordered take-out recently and they tacked on a TAKE-OUT FEE will be the last time I patronize any of their restaurants. They all serve good food and have good service. But that beats all---TAKE-OUT FEE! Their food is NOT that good. read more

ent to Venus III last night, great place to watch the games.. good sports bar. We got the Venus app platter with Fries, stix, chicken fingers and onion rings. it was horrible. The platter was swimming in greese and the food were cooked in the same oil as the fish. Also got the pub cheese pizza.. better pub pizza down the road at BR's take out. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Great for kids during day and great for adults at night. My family and I come here all the time

We frequent the Venus III. The food is very good. I had the BBG steak tips and my wife had the pastrami. The beer is always cold and good prices for both. Fast service and pleasant staff make it a welcoming place to hang out. Plenty of TV's and fun atmosphere. read more

Went here a few weeks ago with my sisters. I will never go back for the following reasons: 1.) I ordered nachos and buffalo fingers to split with one of my sisters. The nachos were soggy and gross. The buffalo fingers were meh. 2.) The service was awful. Our waitress took our drink order and never came back. Other waitresses brought us our food. When we needed a refill on our drinks, I had to ask another waitress for help even though our waitress walked by and saw that we needed refills. The only other time our waitress came was to bring us the bill. I was paying with a debit card and waited 15 minutes for our waitress to come back. She didn't so I asked another waitress to run the card for me. The tip I gave should've gone to the waitress that I kept asking for. 3.) The service was slowwwww.... Our party arrived before a couple of other parties that were the same size as us. All what we ordered was nachos, buffalo fingers, and a couple of pizzas. Other tables that ordered after us received their meals before us and they ordered more than us. It was ridiculous. It was not worth the time or money that I spent here. The food was gross and the service was terrible. I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

Usually the waitress' aren't very good but I can say this visit she was awesome the food is always great but the bouncer has an attitude with a chip on his shoulders. He needs to get over himself. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a good time with a live band since the bouncer is a jerk to everyone. Too bad it's not a bad place. read more

Excellent service, the waitresses are on top of their game. They are super friendly. The broiled haddock is FANTASTIC. I go about once a week not as much for the food (which is very yummy) but the atmosphere. The band's are great and I used to LOVE going to see Kristen Merlin. The bartenders work their butts off and all of the staff enjoys conversation and making the guests happy. Never under or overcooked meals, or some of the horrifying stories I have heard. Great for family's and parties. The Venus III is always decorated for the holidays (beautifully!) and a friend and family friendly place. read more

The pizza is good. I've also had some of the wraps and they are good also. I would call it pretty good nothing great. I have got the baked stuffed haddock and it wasn't to good, also have gotten fried clams they were OK nothing great. read more

My family and I went to Venus there were 9 of us. It was fairly empty when we arrived. We were seated at a nice big table and promptly forgotten. After 20 min we found our waitress who was irritated when asked to put in a drink order. We put in our order received our drinks in a reasonable amount of time and then promptly forgotten again. After 40 min she came and took our order. No explanation as to why delayed, there only about 20 people in restaurant including us. The food took an hour to get to the table. Again no apologies or explanation. The food was just ok. If the waitress had taken even a minute to explain the delay situation it would have been ok to us because we were visiting each other and are an understanding group. But it seems it may be a typical thing to wait 2 hours before food arrives. Very disappointed and very hungry, sad to say we started the hangries by the time food arrived read more

Stopped here the other day for dinner with a few friends. We all ordered beers and they took a longer than expected to come out. Our waitress was attentive and nice but a bit distant and aloof. The food was tasty but also a little slow to appear from the kitchen. I had a burger and it tasted pretty good--cooked to my preference which is always appreciated--but nothing particularly special. The decor was a bit odd. The bar had a lot of spacing around it and I thought the layout was kind of weird. Overall not a terrible experience but not worth a second visit. read more
