So, I met a Mobilian (and owner of a local hair salon) who told me to go see Vivian at Vennesse for an SNS mani. I'm new to the area, so I'm all ears and open to good recommendations. I immediately pull up Vennesse Spa to bookmark on Yelp, and literally almost choke and die on the hardest gasp I've ever gasped! Honest thoughts: Holy Crap! A 1.5 rating (at the time)??? OH NO -- they must be giving people nail funguses and burying them in the back! That's NOT the place for me! (I literally said this to the girl who recommended it, and she (a stranger) said, "Trust me and ask for Vivian!" Well, in the spirit of "fool me once..." I called ahead and set up an appointment with Vivian, who just-so happened to answer the phone, and prayed for the best! I walked in bracing myself and left skipping with glee! Vivian was a sweetheart from start to finish, she took great care of me, offered me a drink, she's quiet and focused while she works (I like that), slayed my nails (I love her paint and file job), and helped me sign up for Perka Points (their loyalty app to earn points for $ off of a future visit)! Thankfully, my first visit to Vennesse was a WIN! Onto visit #2: I've been traveling, so a lot of time has passed since my first visit to Vennesse. I called back for Vivian and was told that she's on vacation until next week. (God why?) At this point, my nails are horrendous and I can't wait another day. Although I did remember the 1.5 Yelp rating that totally freaked me out before my first visit, I trusted God to have my back (he always does) and asked the "nice girl" (Kathy) who answered the phone to book me. Shortly after starting my service, Kathy shared that she's Vivian's younger sister. I felt better immediately and rightfully so as Kathy's great also! She's very focused and quiet while working (similar to Vivian but almost OCD and I love it)! This point is important to mention as during both visits, I noticed that the staff here is quite chatty amongst themselves. This doesn't bother me at all, but I do prefer that MY service renderer not be distracted while wielding the drill. Kathy (like Vivian) was definitely locked in, but also had the perfect balance of conversation and local food suggestions to throw out-- got a few new bookmarks off of her today! This nail salon was recommended to me by a coworker that has been coming here for awhile. I would consider her to be pretty picky so I figured I would give this place a try since I have recently been less than impressed by my usual nail place. I love their organization of colors, they are grouped by color vs just being thrown all together. They also have special books for the SNS that matches Gel for the full mani/pedi experience. There was a little bit of a wait when I stopped in on Saturday morning, but I didn't mind. You can call ahead and make an appointment (can't do that at my usual place either) if you are wanting to get in and out. The girl that was working with me today was fast but paid close attention to making sure she filed my nails to match each other with length and shape which I can really appreciate. Not thrilled at all. The only person that spoke to me was the one asking me what I wanted. My heels looked worse when I left than when I arrived. The leg massage was pathetic, my small child could do better. I stopped because it was convenient but I definitely will not be back. read more

Actually pretty disappointed in my experience here. I got into a wreck and was looking forward to sitting in the massage chair and be pampered while I got my nails done. The place is nice, and they do a fine job, but it felt very rushed. I wanted to relax and take up time and instead I was out in 40 minutes. During my pedicure, the other lady pulled up her chair and awkwardly did my nails at the same time. I got the gel nails so the UV sat in my lap and she turned my massage chair off so she could work. I never got a manicure and the still charged me $54 for the service, when I protested they were all "it's because you got gel nails" when I told them I didn't get a manicure they said "yes because you got gel nail" I was upset so I just paid and left and vowed to not return. read more

This place is great! Very clean and Family owned. Everybody is very nice and accommodating. Reasonably priced as well. They do great pedicures and SNS. (No sis, like really good SNS.) This place doesn't even deserve a star. I had an appointment scheduled with my friend, and we explained that we would be a little late before even scheduling the appointment with them. The available time they accepted appointments was at 6:45- even though their hours state they close at 8:00. They told us to go ahead and schedule the appointment for 6:45 and it would be okay. We rushed there after work; made it at 6:48. They refused to do our schedules pedicure. We walked in, and they hollered sorry we are closed. We said we had an appointment for 6:45 and that he had discussed the appointment on the phone with they lady that scheduled us. She said yea well now you're 5 minutes late. We said so you won't take us? And she said no you're five minutes late. Worst customer service. Had they just said it wasn't okay in the first place, I would have just never wasted my gas and time to come. Terrible people. Terrible service. Extremely rude. Didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Will NEVER go there again, and will tell all my friends/family to stop going there. read more

I have gone here before and stopped, but today I was reminded why. I walked in and was not greeted. I asked for a gel color change. I was there for almost 20 minutes before Vivian asked me what I wanted again. She took my old color off and walked away. During that process, she stopped numerous times when other customers walked in then started back. As my old color was soaking off, a mother and daughter walked in wanting pedicures. They waited for a short period of time then were seated in the pedicure chairs. The lady who was supposed to do my nails, Michelle, started on the mom's pedicure. Tee, one of the nail techs, said something to her in their language then Michelle came over and started doing my nails. At this point I am COMPLETELY over it. Michelle was very rude and lazy. While she was doing my nails she continued to dig her nails in my skin. It took me snatching my hand from her for her to stop. She already knew I wanted a gel color change, but started to do the process for a manicure. I had already cut my own cuticles the day before so I knew I didn't need a manicure. When I told her I didn't want a manicure she said my nails weren't going to be "pretty" if I didn't get one. I continued to let her know I wanted a gel color change regardless of what she said. After this her attitude got even worse. I will NEVER go back to this nail salon. This has motivated me to start doing my own nails. read more

I have been coming to this nail salon for over 5 years. I've had good experiences and some okay experiences. Some of the girls there do an excellent job which is why I stayed with them for so long. This last experience I had was so terrible I will never go back to this nail salon ever again. I came in for a refill and they had a VERY new person do my nails. At first I was skeptical simply because she kept buffing my skin on my fingers instead of my nails but I still gave her the benefit of the doubt. I explained to her that two of my nails were loose and asked her if she could fix them. She did not. Fast forward she paints my nails but doesn't even paint the whole nail. She leaves so much space between my cuticles and my nails that it literally looks like I didn't even get a refill. In a rush, I go home and a few days later I call the store to see if I can get them fixed. The lady I spoke to was beyond rude and would not let me speak. She kept talking over me and told me I was lying about which day I got my nails done as if that mattered. I told her how much I loved coming to this salon but if she's going to continue to be this rude and unprofessional I will have to take my business else where. She laughed and hung up the phone. Will definitely never step foot back in this salon and will definitely advise others not to as well. I've had some experiences that I was not 100% satisfied at this salon but this one talked the cake. This is not a salon to go to if you are looking for consistency. Some of the ladies are very good while others do whatever they want to your nails. I've experienced it personally and so have my friends and family. Will never visit this place again!!! I watched a young, black lady come in to get service with 4 young kids. She got nasty looks from their staff from the moment she walked in until she walked out. Truth be told, I was like why would she bring all these kids in here... but I don't know her situation and so who am I to judge? Initially, we were the only two black people and so they assumed we were together. We were not together! So, the poor customer service extended its way to me. I felt rushed! It felt like they wanted US out ASAP. I asked for a manager and was told she was not there. I found out later she was there watching the whole thing go down! When a white young lady walked in with her kids, she was greeted with a smile. At the end, the manager checked me out, on the receipt as a tip, I wrote "better customer service" and she didn't even take the find out why I was dissatisfied. Never again!!!!
