    Hot grilled cheese
    Steph L.

Parking is a shared lot but there is a garage in the back, entry to the left of Whole Foods. Staff were friendly. Beware eating on the patio, there were very persistent wasps!! Ordered a hot grilled cheese with salami. It came with grapes. $12. Taste was good, a little salty. Sourdough bread was tasty. The sandwich itself was a little smaller than I was expecting. Def not shareable. They have lots of different cheeses and many were ordering charcuterie boards.

I have been to Venissinmo cheese shop multiple times. They carry a variety of artisan cheeses from all over the world, including brie, blue stilton, and camembert as well as many aged varieties and fresh cheeses. Because it's a specialty shop, the prices will be higher than at local chain stores like Whole Foods or Gelson's. Primarily, I go there to get small cheese boards or they have a wonderful happy hour deal where you get a glass of wine with a charcuterie board. There is a small outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They will offer wine and cheese pairing options if you don't know where to start.

They never let me down. We got the 6 item plate for 2, I think it was $36! We picked 3 hard cheeses, 1 soft, and 2 meats, no spicy per my friend's choice. Included 4 packages of crackers! We went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. The quality was as always delicious, it was quiet and we had the whole patio to ourselves. It gets chilly cause there is major covering over the seating area for Venissimo. I recommend a bigger group so you get more cheeses and meats but all in all I love this place.

    More than just cheese

Despite the fact that Whole Foods and Gelsons are in this same area and they also sell gourmet cheese this place still has a loyal following. The cheese mongers here will give you precise advice for both turophile and novices alike. Their selection (global diversity) isn't the best, at least compared to years past. But they will have something interesting for everyone's needs. Maybe the best kept secret here isn't necessarily their cheese, but their sandwiches. Be sure to grab one if you stop by. - They sell some gourmet items that are unique by themselves. Those can make great gifts too. - Been a while since I've seen Australian cheeses. - During the Christmas rush they close down their sandwich menu. - They also sell party trays for Christmas which were very popular.

Came back on a warm day and enjoyed a wonderful cold glass of rosé with another cheese platter and the nutty grilled cheese! Grilled cheese was perfectly grilled, think we still preferred the savory grilled cheese though:) The Quatro platter was JUST as abundant as the 6 item one we got last time. The alp blossom cheese is so light and has such a delicate floral taste, you can REALLY smell the flowers too! Husband's favorite this time was the Bleau mont cheddar which was firm and very bold flavored--cheddar lovers look no further. My personal favorite this time was the Dunmanus cheeses which was SO creamy and decadent with a little funk hehe Got several slices of the beef saucisson also which was so soft yet perfectly rich spiciness. They slice it nice and thin which is definitely my preference! Service is fantastic as always-just look how beautifully displayed the plate is

I was having a major cheese craving that was perfectly satisfied at Venissimo. They have so many options from around the world. I am a sucker for the Saint Agur and ewephoria but enjoyed some new cheeses as well. I love ordering a tray and getting to try a few. They package everything so beautifully it's almost hard to dive in and mess up the masterpiece. In addition, they do make paninis and have a lot of supplementary charcuterie items in the store.

Not giving 5 stars just because the prices are way too high, but oh my, I could find Garrotxa cheese ($23 a piece) and that brought me flavors and aromas from my homeland. We all know there is no price to that! This was my first time visiting as I usually don't frequent this shopping center and did not even know there was another Venissimo here (I remember at least 10 years ago there was one in East Village when I used to hang out there). This store caught my attention because you can also sit and eat outside and it is just beautiful, pleasant and the people working there are super nice too. I also bought olives from my country filled with chorizo (never tried those before in Spain!) and were delicious. $7 is not what I would usually pay for a small tin of olives but, they, it is a specialty store after all. I would totally go back and explore with more time the varieties of cheese and also the other goodies.

First time here & I can't wait to come back tomorrow! I love this hidden gem. Shoutout to Rachel for making the most delicious cheese plate for me!!! She deserves a raise. She asked every type of leading question and was to the point. It means a lot when someone actually cares and is great at their job all at the same time. I loved every bite. The wines by the glass selection are great too! Love the ambiance. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service is top notch. Very grateful I decided to come in today...I got chased by a dog and needed a glass of wine haha.

Super cute spot for a charcuterie and a glass of wine! We ordered the quatro for $20 and chose 2 meats and 2 cheese. It took them a while to prepare it but I can see why. It was beautifully presented with florals, jams, crackers, and a generous assortment of nuts and berries. I loved it.

husband has had a $50 birthday gift card to Venissimo sitting in his wallet for quite some time...we were finally both free during the day to come use that gift card! yes we could have used it to buy cheese to bring home...but we opted to use it for a lunch date instead. We ordered a big board that had 3 meats/3 cheeses/fruit/nuts/chocolate and a bottle of wine (their selection)...$40 we picked a table outside (they have 1 inside table but many outside community tables) The wine was fine ...nothing to get excited about...but good the platter...wow! it was more than enough for both of us...we actually took some of the cheese home. we also bought some cheese "to go". will absolutely come back for another lunch date! service was fabulous! selection was fabulous!

    Perfection!!

The portion is generous enough to share, and it's so much easier than dealing with the crowds, parking, long waits, or having to bus your own table like we seem to encounter at so many places around San Diego. For dinner, we often stop by the deli and seafood counter to pick up cooked shrimp and a few sides. We take everything back to our Airbnb, warm it up, and enjoy a relaxing dinner on the patio. It's become one of our favorite vacation traditions. The dessert case is incredible, and choosing just one treat is nearly impossible! I do miss the tuxedo custard mousse cake (or whatever it was called)--it was absolutely delicious. It's also a great place to grab lunch meats, fresh rolls, or bread for easy beach sandwiches. Best of all, the staff is consistently friendly and genuinely enjoys chatting with customers. I've had so many pleasant conversations with people at the seafood, meat, and deli counters over the years. Great food, great service, and always a stop we look forward to on every trip.

The one in Rancho (near Spring Valley) just closed. So sad about that. Thankfully, we still have this location. This is such a great spot. The market appeals to shoppers who value freshness, thoughtful sourcing and convenience. There is a huge selected range of fresh produce, including organic and seasonal fruits and vegetables. The meat and seafood department -- my favorite department -- is a standout, offering high-quality cuts of beef, chicken and pork, along with fresh and sushi-grade seafood. The deli and prepared foods section is phenomenal! And it's full service. They have Boar's Head meats and a wide assortment of cheeses, along with house-made salads, sandwiches and ready-to-eat meals. The market also offers a bakery selection with pastries and desserts, as well as artisan breads that pair well with the store's specialty items. My absolute favorite item in this section are the chips, which are fresh, thin, crispy and perfectly salted. I will stop in for the chips alone. Beyond the fresh departments, Harvest carries a thoughtful mix of pantry staples and other products. Shoppers can find specialty oils and vinegars, unique seasonings, sauces, olives and chocolates. The wine selection excellent as well. The overall shopping experience is clean, friendly and personal, and the staff are generally very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices tend to be higher than large grocery chains but, again, this is a specialty store often with much higher quality. One of my favorite grocery stores in San Diego.

My pickup experience was mind blowing. I was over 30 minutes away, marked that I was on the way, what kind of car I was in, and literally the second I pulled in, a customer service agent knocked on my window with my bag. Customer service 10/10, surveillance, 10/10 XD The parking lot is stressful and lots of people were hogging the pickup spots because they felt a lot more important than everyone else I guess. Parking is crazy, but the parking lot and storefront are clean. Keep up the great work fine people. I'll be back next time my espresso packets run out. We are regular customers at the Whole Foods pizza counter and order pizza for our family there…read moreoften, usually one or two whole pizzas at a time. Unfortunately, it is consistently a very slow experience, even when there are only a few customers ahead of us. Despite having a very large pizza oven capable of cooking multiple pizzas at once, pizzas are routinely cooked one at a time, which often results in 30+ minute wait times. Today's experience was especially disappointing. The store had run out of pizza boxes, so our pizza was placed into a cake box that was too small to fit it properly. The employee cut the pizza and stacked half the slices on top of the other half, causing the pizza to become messy and smashed together. She handled the slices directly with her hands instead of using a spatula, and several pepperoni pieces fell off in the process. In addition, the employee placed two different stickers on the box -- one appearing to indicate a single pizza and another appearing to indicate two pizzas -- which could have easily resulted in us being charged incorrectly. When I politely asked whether we could receive a discount because of the condition of the pizza and the inconvenience, I was initially told very rudely that there would be no discount and that the register would not help either. I was then asked, with obvious attitude, whether I wanted the pizza remade, which would "take another 10 minutes." I simply asked for the missing pepperoni pieces to be placed back on the pizza. The manager ultimately did provide a 50% discount, which we appreciated. However, even the manager acknowledged the pizza had been handled improperly and wanted to take a picture because she was surprised by how it had been packaged. Despite that, the response still felt dismissive, including being told the discount would only be done "this one time," as though the issue had not clearly been caused by the store's handling of the order. We understand mistakes happen, including running out of boxes, but customer service, food handling, and basic professionalism still matter -- especially for repeat customers who spend a significant amount there regularly.

Luckily we were given the tip to try El Nopalito which is located just off the northbound Santa Fe Drive exit on the 5. You might want to look at google maps if you don't know the area which is in an older somewhat run down strip mall. Don't let that fool you though, appearances can be deceiving. Indise El Nopalito is clean and fairly large, probably seating around sixty. The kitchen can be viewed from where you order, which I like. We ordered nothing but tacos for starters to see what we liked, they have 21 types of tacos on the menu, so we chose Carnitas, Carne Asada, and El Pastor. Good choices all, freshly made, well seasoned, great toppings and big portions. The two of us were almost full just eating the three tacos. But no, we wanted more, so we ordered the Mole Oaxaca (Red Mole) which was excellent. A very complex taste with cinnamon and chile. Three tacos and the mole finished us. The service was friendly and prompt and I enjoyed sitting there because there was much to see. When we walked in it was a few minutes before noon. We were really surprised because there were about thirty high school students there mostly having sodas and tacos. Within ten minutes they all disappeared to go back to school. The restaurant was almost empty for a few minutes and then many Mexican Landscape Workers came for lunch. At one point there were over twenty people in line and the restaurant was full! This all in the space of fifteen minutes. They did not order tacos, but the daily specials, stews, soups, etc. They were friendly too and there was a great atmosphere. We were impressed by the taste of the food, the great selection, and all we saw. Ignore my other reviews for Mexican restaurants in the Encinitas/Leucadia area, this is our new favorite!
