Absolutely one of the most unprofessional and condescending companies I have ever come in contact with. The person who picked up the phone(I believe it was one of the owners, Carl), talked in such a hostile and unprofessional manner that no customer or client should ever experience, nor an 'owner' should ever even say. They also did not bother to update us on the shipment we did with them. If you are considering using Velocity Courier, I suggest to STAY AWAY and USE ANOTHER courier service that is more professional, efficient and reliable. read more

When I called Velocity today I spoke with the rudest, most unprofessional person I've ever encountered in all of my years of doing business. Wow. I'm still in shock over how I was spoken to. I have no idea why the owners of this courier service would allow this type of behavior from the person answering their calls. Their website reads "Go ahead and call us. It'll be fun and easy!" My company uses Velocity on a regular basis, we love them and rely on them when we don't have enough bodies to do all the running required. The cost is totally worth it and in my opinion surprisingly low. As to the 1 star reviews I see, I don't think you know what to expect from a courier service in general; if you want a reliable dude to help you out of a bind or do a run across the city that you aren't up for, call a courier service and they talk to you like normal people on the phone. they are casual, to the point, and will effectively manage your expectations and execute a simple delivery for you. If you want someone to kiss your butt and have a big complicated order of some kind with ridiculous requests then call a concierge service or something. This a quick and easy solution with a minimal fee so don't be looking for frills. Its not a frilly industry! Last week, they really saved the day for me; they were able to pick up somebody's passport for me with 10 minutes notice from a consulate. They literally had 10 minutes to get there before the consulate closed. They made it happen and because of them somebody made a trip that they would have otherwise missed. we are lifetime clients! I debated on writing this review, honestly, because I've had good experiences with them the past dozen or so times I've used them. They are laid back and real, not robotic or uncomfortably cheery which I can appreciate. Though, until today, they have never been just flat out disrespectful. Being rude and speaking to the customer with no respect at all is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I could go in to detail on the conversation, but essentially, I was treated very much like the other commenters who have written about the person answering the phone. The end of the conversation pretty much went like this: ME: "I could try another service if you are not interested in doing this?" VELOCITY: "Yeah, do that." **click** Remember, I had used them for the same pickup and drop off at least 10 times before. Anyway, the sad part is that this person answering the phone expects you to be alright with his attitude. He expects that his unhappiness with life or work should filter right on down to someone else. By looking at the review dates, it's pretty obvious he still works there, or perhaps he owns the business? And my small amount of money not going toward Velocity won't affect him and it won't affect the business -- but I bet those messengers who work their butts off (in scorching heat or sub-zero cold) probably liked customers like myself who gave them huge tips for their hard work. Lighten up buddy, or at the very least, recognize you probably shouldn't be answering the phone. read more

My company has been using Velocity Courier since well before my time here. I think that they are very reliable and speedy. They always call us if there is an issue with any of our deliveries. When I call they always know who I am and are always extremely pleasant. The guy on the phone even say "okily dokily" to me after I give him my order...and it always makes me laugh. The messengers themselves always greet us and say hello before taking the envelope/package. Overall, these people are good at what they do and they take care of their customers! The only reason they lost one star is that I have nothing to compare them to since we've only ever used them. read more

Told them it has be on a Saturday. He says they can't because they are on double time. So? I told them It had to be on a Saturday, even next week. Text of an email I just sent to Velocity: A nicer way of saying that you didn't want to do our run would have been, "I'm sorry, the address you're requesting is out of our service area." Instead of, "This is such a crazy fucking run, I don't want to do it." Please don't swear on the phone to your clients, especially a non-profit who has been giving their business to you for the past five years. I understand that 119th St is far away, and would not have been upset or surprised if you would have declined the delivery in an appropriate manner. I'm surprised to see positive comments posted. First time using Velocity - I received the most AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE GUY ON THE PHONE - he was rude and snarky from the 1st call, it was as though I was interrupting his day by calling to schedule a pick up/drop off. **The cherry on top was when I called to ask who signed for the package. I asked him to repeat himself (so I could write the name) and he felt inclined to rudely belittle me by sarcastically explaining to me 1. what a "concierge" is 2. what a "hotel" is and 3. began to phonetically spell out the name. All while speaking extremely slowly and loudly as though he was speaking to someone with a language, hearing or mental impediment ------ I was stunned. I still am. His actions were rude beyond words in so many different levels. It was by far my worst encounter, ever, with a business. read more

These guys are awesome. Genuine. Fast. Reliable. I just used them for the first time and they have great rates, excellent customer service and went above my expectations. i wanted to send a document quickly to the loop. called these guys up and they were able to get a courier over immediately to deliver it and it only cost $10 for one hour service (going from greektown area to the loop)! the guys on the phone were professional and courteous. this was my first time using a courier and they answered all my questions with patience. read more

Grateful for their Saturday services and that they were willing to take a credit card payment on Saturday vs making my boss pay cash upon drop off like others in the city. I live in Oregon and my new boss is based in Chicago. I will definitely be using these guys exclusively. read more
