I had never done this before, but I would totally do it again! It's a really cool and fun experience if you're looking to try something new. They have levels for everyone, so don't worry if you're a beginner like me. With their pass, you can stay as long as you want (or as long as your arms allow you ) and also use their gym. ‍ They offer personal trainers, and you can request one if you want to take a class.

Velocity Climbing Gym is one of my favorite climbing gyms in South Florida, and I recently got a membership. I try to come here a few times a week, and I absolutely love it. The walls are super high, so you get a good workout from each climb, and it makes you push yourself harder to reach the top. I also started bouldering again at this gym to focus on my strength training. They have some really good routes here. I highly recommend checking out this gym if you want to get your climb on.

Awesome place! nice spot for people of all ages they have challenging wall climbs of many levels. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and would love to go again sometime. Staff is super helpful and friendly. They will walk you through it and guide you plenty of enough people so that they can personally attend to you. I found this very nice thank you again to all those who showed me this place and the welcoming staff that opened their doors as well as helping me do my first climb!

I used to rock climb years ago in Arkansas--it was a huge part of my life and my connection with nature. But after moving to Florida in 1998, I pretty much gave it up because, well... Florida is flat. I also assumed indoor climbing was just a glorified jungle gym for kids. Fast forward to today, when I took my family to Velocity Climbing, and WOW--I couldn't have been more wrong! This place is incredible. The instructors and staff are top-notch--attentive, knowledgeable, and super encouraging. They helped me ease back into a sport I once loved, and I felt completely supported every step of the way. Not only is Velocity a fantastic facility with a great variety of climbs, but climbing itself has incredible physical and mental benefits. I'm officially hooked again, and at 56, I can't wait to become a member and get back on the wall! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned climber, this place is a must-visit.

Beautiful new climbing gym that has opened in Miami I love that the walls are tall and the routes are challenging. There are two stories' worth of climbing available, from top rope to auto belay to bouldering The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I appreciate that they're committed to monitoring for safe climbing and keeping the facility clean - shoes or slippers are required on the mats (no bare feet!) Since this gym is so close to work, I definitely plan to commit to a more regular climbing routine!

First time here and wow, what a nerve wracking but incredibly fun experience! As someone totally new to climbing, I was definitely intimidated at first, but the staff made it so easy to feel comfortable. Shoutout to Lucas, our instructor, he was amazing! Super patient, clear in his instructions, and really motivated us to push past our limits. The 60-foot walls are no joke, but with his guidance, it turned into one of the most rewarding challenges I've done!! If you're thinking of trying climbing for the first time, this is the spot. Ask for Lucas, you won't regret it! ‍

Great place to bring the family, the kids loved it and I'll prob come back with some friends. Awesome experience and the staff was super nice 10/10

I've been dreaming of a gym opening closer to where I am in downtown Miami, and Ray has answered my wishes with this beautiful, bright, central location right next to the 112 and the Earlington Heights Meteorail station. I will not miss those 2 hour rush-hour commutes to West Kendall and Broward. Presale membership prices are comparable to other gyms in the country, if a little more than other gyms in the South Florida area. But so far, worth it! First, parking: it's still opening week, but with their paved and gravel lots, I have not had issues finding a spot yet. There's also a parking attendant to help navigate the lots during peak hours. I hope they get some marking/bumpers in gravel areas to indicate where spots are, but it works for now. The gym butts up to some residential homes, so be careful not to park anywhere but the designated lots. Second, amenities: training area with cardio machines, showers (sort of, they're not available as of opening week), locking cubbies, a bottle filler fountain, and flexible seating around the gym. I'm sure I'm missing some things too, but the gym was designed by climbers so I definitely felt like everything I would need was considered. Third, climbing: I am biased, but the holds are all brand new and have sandpaper grip on them so I feel extra confident going for slopers. In fact, a lot of climbs seem easier than their grade because of how grippy the holds are still. The setters have done an amazing job with designing climbs for every climber, and utilizing the wall angles and volumes to create slab, dihedral, and overhanging climbs for every YDS grade. While there isn't any real rock, and Velocity lacks some features like roofs and chimneys, I am more than happy to be challenged by the massive number of overhanging routes available in the lead-only section. QuickDraws (with plastic coverings on the dogbones!) are on every wall, so if you want to lead a roped section, just tie the rope off to a sandbag stationed nearby. Bouldering areas look really nice (one was designed with the Innsbruck competition wall in mind), with extra firm crash pads beneath the two sections, but I haven't ventured onto those yet since the 60'+ walls are calling my name still. There are also several autobelay options in the upstairs area (which is also a great people watching platform). Fourth, staff: everyone at Velocity is as excited as us members to finally be open. The red-shirted staff have been so welcoming, and are happy to chat with everyone about the gym. There are some policies they have to enforce (shoes in the climbing area and closed-toeds in the training area), but they are friendly about it when they do. Since we're still in opening week, the setters have also been making their rounds and getting feedback from folks. All in all, I'm happy to call Velocity home. And yes, I will belay you - just ask! But for those new to the sport, they offer free belay classes for all members.

There's a basketball court, 2 personal training areas, 2 cardio sections, a track and the loft-like set up for most of the regular machines.in addition there are also 2 studios for classes (Angela and Francisco do a great job with these by the way!) There is a parking garage that can be validated for an hour if you're looking for a quick pump before/after work too. Do yourself a favor and sign up today! Did I also mention steamroom?

This is a staple of theirs as I remember doing that as a child when it was called Parrot Jungle. However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The children's play area is nice and pretty big. The treehouse, trampoline and the Beyhive were unique. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami.

Just makes finally having visiting this venue so much more special with how incredible it is. Secondly, amazing is how big it feels despite its size and location (granted, I visited at night for a special event, so your mileage may vary) - though I admit, the exhibits seem too small for some of their fauna inhabitants. Third and finally, visiting it for said special event, Luminosa, was ABSOLUTELY wondrous. Made the visit absolutely worth it (even if my bus almost missed the stop). Plus, the staff is so kind and accommodating. We as a society need to invest and support spaces and places like this that not only offer incredible experiences, but also give back to all its visitors and urban spaces they inhabit - even if they're on a small, missable island (jajaja).
