You can expect to get a little breathless and sweaty within a few minutes of starting since they start you right away with active climbing. It takes a little time to get used to stepping and pushing/pulling vertically while strapped into the climber, since the movement is different from your other daily activities. You need to remind yourself not to crane your head and neck back---don't worry, your head will not hit the climber center pole, trust me I've tried. But if it's good enough for Bradley Cooper (see the article about Rise Nation they have posted next to the restroom), it must be good enough for me. If you're going for the first time, make sure to look at the schedule and see what levels are being offered in their classes. They have classes ranging from Level I (good for beginners, can add on) to Level III ("EXTREME"), so pay attention to what you attend. The staff and instructors are very nice and helpful about getting you situated on the climber, so don't hesitate to tell them if it's your first time. Hint: the handles that you grab onto can be removed and put in different height holders, which they will tell you. The instructors will tell you that they go between a "mid range" (regular strides) and "long range" (full strides). Their cues will alternate between these ranges, different resistances and faster/slower paces. Once you get used to the climber, don't be afraid to go faster, "rip" (reach and stride) longer and increase resistance when they instruct you to. Remember, you need to get it all in within 30 minutes! The actual class time can run up to 35-40 minutes if you stay for the full cool down and stretch, so don't expect to bolt out in 30 minutes if you want the full workout experience. It's still a very efficient workout if you're looking to change up your exercise routine! They offer lots of promotional packages that give you 10 classes for $10-15 each, so look for them online and when you go! And/or use the amazing ClassPass like me, since each class costs 6-7 credits. Parking is not too bad for the Design District, since there is a lot of street parking within a block or two of the studio's building. There's a juice bar on the same block if you want to treat yourself for all the good work you've done! Try it out, see you there soon!

This is a staple of theirs as I remember doing that as a child when it was called Parrot Jungle. However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The children's play area is nice and pretty big. The treehouse, trampoline and the Beyhive were unique. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami.

Just makes finally having visiting this venue so much more special with how incredible it is. Secondly, amazing is how big it feels despite its size and location (granted, I visited at night for a special event, so your mileage may vary) - though I admit, the exhibits seem too small for some of their fauna inhabitants. Third and finally, visiting it for said special event, Luminosa, was ABSOLUTELY wondrous. Made the visit absolutely worth it (even if my bus almost missed the stop). Plus, the staff is so kind and accommodating. We as a society need to invest and support spaces and places like this that not only offer incredible experiences, but also give back to all its visitors and urban spaces they inhabit - even if they're on a small, missable island (jajaja).

It seemed like a way to "cop out" of putting up the 20+ unique obstacles. Instead, we had 16 or so obstacles and had to re-do a few of them. - Missed obstacles like Arctic Enema. It felt like we had all the janky obstacles for the first 90% of the run. All of the fun ones were saved for the 2nd loop and stuffed into the last 1-2 miles (i.e., blockness monster, happy ending, funky monkey, etc.). Really disappointed in the layout. - Like the other reviewer mentioned, there was... No. Mud. Perhaps that's a fault of SoFlo since our dirt at this park was more like sand... but it felt like I was at a beach moreso than going through an actual mud run. Absolutely no mud. - No premium parking. In the past, I've always been happy to pay the $25 or whatever to park closer to the venue. In this instance, it was $20/vehicle, and premium parking didn't exist. Not only that, but it took over 30 minutes to park... This isn't Disney, folks! - Photographers... were placed SO badly! There was one that was just randomly placed in a field. WHY? Put him by an obstacle! There was no one by Berlin Walls; no one by Hero Carry; no one by Funky Monkey... It's fun getting to see the photo documentation of you championing the obstacles, but not this time. - Ran out of Small tech t-shirts... followed quickly by the Mediums. I have no idea what's going on with TM this year. :/ First time I've been to an event that ran out of Ts. + Only pro is the community. Still great camaraderie; everyone is always willing to help out others up and over obstacles, etc. Overall, just super disappointed. I think this will be my last Tough Mudder. In the future, I'll probably be looking for other mud runs. :(
