Since we were in Miami during my prev. birthday trip, it was one of my birthday presents. Tickets ($20 per person) were available for purchase via Miami Roller Rink's website. Our Admission Tickets were shown at the door as we went through the front entrance. On this day, we visited Miami Roller Rink to attend "We Love The 90's" Skate Party. Skating during that several-hour session, the dj played fantastic 90's music. All 90's Everything....90's Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Pop, R & B - you name it, & that dj played it. Skating to 90's "Oldies But Goodies" while singing was a good way to spend out on a Saturday Night. There are lockers for your belongings. There are snacks, food for purchase. Clean Bathrooms. There are also some Arcade Games. Seating space is on the sidelines for those that want to sit, to hang out w/ out skating, or to rest in-between skating. The roller rink is a nice size & Miami Roller Rink has lots of weekday / weekend events. These include: *Freestyle Mondays Skate Night - 8pm - 11pm (Ages 16+) *Learn to Skate Classes for all ages - Mon & Wed - 6pm - 7pm (kids) & 7pm - 8pm (adults) / Sat. 9am - 10am *intermediate Tuesday Speed Skating Sessions *Open Skate - Sunday - 12pm - 7:30pm *Afterschool Skate Events - Thurs. 4:30pm.- 7:30pm. What I did like was there spring break schedule for kids and even a skate & prayer session. Seems like management really likes to involve all ages and activities for the community and that's amazing. It was a great first impression for sure !

Scott Rakow Youth Center - Rental area behind the glass. $5.00 for rentals and 2 hour skate time...but the ice was so hacked...you easily trip and fall with the holes.

They have other public skate days so check out their schedule to learn what they are. Bring gloves as it can be a bit on the chilly side, and you definitely don't want to freeze your butt off for those 2 hours. Plus if you happen to slip and fall, your hands will stay warm. Also, come with a jacket and maybe a couple layers; no one has fun while shivering. When I arrived at 4pm, there was only an hour left to skate and the condition of the ice was already hacked. I think they should resurface the ice between the 2 hours as it would make the experience much more enjoyable; it wouldn't take more than 10 mins or so...at least the outer edge where most people skate around and not the center area. Sure it's much slicker, but the way the ice was...you would be tripping over holes that would catch your skates out of no where. Most of the skaters were from young children 3 years told to men in their 50s or so who can really skate. Kinda how I-95 is with so many different drivers with so many different skills; it could be a formula for a head on.

Thankfully my friend invited me to play pickleball (another thing I had no idea about) with her here and it was so much fun. They have it at certain times. I went on Friday evening and the place was fairly empty. They had rackets and balls for those that did not but many people who frequent have their own gear. Everyone was so friendly and patient with this novice. But I'm so excited to go back and check out the ice rink and other amenities.

Public Skate had already been going for a bit when I got here and the rink was definitely overdue for a polishing, that said it didn't really impede my ability to skate. The food looked terrible, except the mini donuts and mini churro bites, I didn't try them this time but might next time. There's an instant coffee machine that also looks pretty bad, I wouldn't risk it. Renting skates was relatively effortless, they just asked me if I needed skates when paying admission and then gave me a ticket. Some questions I had: * Should you bring a coat, hat, gloves? If you're wondering then probably yes. I warmed up eventually so if you're not wondering you'll probably be fine with a comfortable sweater. * Are there lockers? Yes! They take 4 quarters, and they have a dollar conversion machine nearby, so bring at least one single dollar; I'd recommend two because they're single use and I forgot a bunch of stuff the first time I closed mine. * Do people actually go here? Yeah! It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon, just shy of what I would consider "crowded" but definitely hopping. I had a great time and will definitely be back as soon as I can wrangle my friends to join me.

Right from the first day everybody here was so friendly and getting checked in each time I come has been a breeze! The prices here are reasonable and it costs $14 for admission and if you need skates it is another $6. Luckily for me I can come when I want and get skates included in my lessons. The place could definitely use a little bit of a touch up but they do have a food and drink area as well a concession stand that has pretty decent prices. I have gotten their hot chocolate a couple times and it is very refreshing and warms me up nicely after a lesson of ice skating! They have open skating in the morning and afternoon but I do wish they could have a little more control over the open skating because there have been so many times I've almost run over kids because the staff members are not watching kids that are going sideways or the wrong way as everyone else. Overall an amazing Ice Arena , which could use a little bit of a refresh, but nothing that would prevent me from coming here in the future when I'm done with my lessons!
