    HIIT Area
    Chantal O.

This YMCA location is a good place to work out. They are located on Biscayne Blvd. really close to Bayfront park and next to Whole Foods. The gym is inside a building on the 15th floor. Parking isn't great unless you work in the area or park a few blocks away. I believe they do have a garage but not sure about access and cost. The gym is pretty big, there is a weight room, basketball court, HIIT area, cycling room and a separate room for yoga, Pilates and dance classes. Lockers and restrooms are in great condition, there was some construction in the ladies restroom but still pretty clean. The HIIT class with Francisco was good, there is a small area with some machines, weights and ropes that he uses for this class. The class wasn't too crowded so the space was OK. We did move to the basketball court at the beginning of the class so he can play around with the space if more people show up. He set different stations with weights, cardio and body weight exercises so a good full body workout. I would go back to try additional classes.

So as I've said before, I think you should follow these three steps. (a) do what a Detroit-based rapper would do and join this place. (b) come every day. (c) listen to Eminem. Why Em? See (A). Despite the fact that it's a brand new facility and despite the fact that everything works wonderfully and lots of cool people use it - especially young people - I have to downgrade this YMCA because it's just so hard to access for people who haven't used it before and for out of towners. In fact they don't even let you into the building when it's close to closing time and when I mean won't let you in, I mean the elevators don't even work. That's seriously messed up if you're leaving 10 minutes before closing time and you get down to street level and realize that you forgot something. So nah. It's just not user-friendly at all and while some of the employees here are great and in one case even very flirtatious, others are disengaged and disingenuine. The locker rooms are gorgeous and palatial though which was appreciated. But I'll definitely have to see improvement here next time, and better usability, if I was going to raise them to five. Now I'm what YMCA... you might call annoyed. So I'm done with this review thx.

    Multiple floors of weight.

Decent gym, nothing spectacular but good for people who don't need much but some weights and a space to squat.

Once a 5-Star Club, Now a Management Disaster…read more Equinox Brickell Heights used to be a 5-star experience. I've attended many amazing events there, met incredible people, and felt proud to invite others into what felt like the place to be in Miami's fitness scene. The culture was electric, the staff were warm and professional, and the management was dialed in. But everything changed with the arrival of the new GM, Ralena. Culture Collapse & Poor Leadership Since Ralena took over, the club has gone downhill across the board: Men's locker room is consistently understocked--tissues, razors, deodorants, combs... gone. There used to be one deodorant per area, now there's only ONE for the entire locker room--which creates a super awkward situation as men wait around half-naked for basic hygiene items. Despite multiple requests over months, nothing has improved. My laundry service has returned other people's underwear, or my clothes have gone missing entirely. Wildly unprofessional. Guest Pass Disrespect The worst part? Ralena actively prevented three of my guests from touring the club, despite: Them registering in advance via a sales rep Being genuinely excited to sign up--one is even internationally known Me personally vouching for them after referring many past members Her reason? It's "high season." So apparently they didn't need the business? She refused to offer a tour, refused to honor a day pass, and instead insisted they pay an inflated guest fee--on their first visit, after they were invited. I calmly asked her to help us out, and instead, she acted as if we were a burden. All three left and signed up at another gym. That's $6K-$30K in lifetime value lost--over a guest pass. What kind of manager turns business away like that? Condescending & Rude When I asked her for her supervisor's email, she condescendingly said "It's exactly how it sounds." When I explained names like "Brittany" can be spelled many ways, she rolled her eyes, gave a sarcastic shrug, and refused to help professionally. Sure enough, the email she gave me was misspelled and bounced back. Intentional or not, it was completely dismissive and unhelpful. Sponsors & Staff Feel It Too I've spoken to multiple sponsors and staff members who have had issues with her, describing her as unapproachable, uncooperative, and cold. When your own team and brand partners don't feel welcome, something is seriously broken. If everyone has a problem with the GM... why is she still in charge? A Brand-Damaging Situation This isn't just a "bad day." This is systemic. It's the type of management that alienates high-value members, kills club energy, and drives people away--including potential new business. Equinox prides itself on premium experience. Ralena is delivering the opposite. Until something changes, this club is no longer the flagship Miami fitness community it once was.

My only complaint is that not all the staff cares to help you adjust and fix your posture or work on the form correctly. It's a bit frustrating to watch the staff not help the members. As a member for years, I've seen staff change and it's unfortunate that the staff right now isn't as attentive as they used to be when they opened. It is a HIIT workout where you go through 4 stations, 10 minutes each, 3 exercises in each station with 45 seconds active work and 15 seconds rest. The movements are shown on monitors but I noticed very little instruction from the coach. I'm sure this is instructor-dependent. If your goals are fat loss and calorie burning, this is a quick 40-minute option where you don't have to even think about the workout and you can just get it done. Probably not ideal for muscle building, so definitely depends on your goals. It was clean and we had fun though!

It is not for those that are looking for a fancy gym with the most modern equipment. Since it is so small the equipment is also limited. They sell vending machine snacks and they have water fountains. The locker rooms are tiny 10x10 inch boxes so your gym bag will not fit. The biggest issue is the hours of operation. That is the only reason it does not get 5 starts. It closes early on the weekends and it opens a late at 7am although on the website it says 6am. Gyms need to open at 5am. Everything is just so well thought out. The videos are super clear and actually enjoyable to watch, which makes it really easy to follow along without feeling lost. It honestly feels like everything is tailored to your body. I also love the structure, having two people per station and the ability to reserve your spot every 10 minutes keeps things flowing and never overcrowded. Time flies when you're there. The coaches are amazing. I've tried several of them already, and they all strike the perfect balance between guiding your form and giving you the space to do your thing. There are 5 stations and then a bonus optional station. There are videos sent to your app before the class as well as screen instructions during the class and a floor coach to help you through the exercises. It's a great way of learning how to do new exercises in a gym if you're new to weight lifting. I was scared of a lot of gym equipment and now I feel like I could workout in the gym on my own thanks to the techniques I learned at glutehouse Everything is top of the line and the gym itself is really beautiful. There are so many little touches to make it cute and peach-y :) My only complaint is that you can only do it 2 times a week so even if you get a membership, you need to supplement with other workouts. There's a handful of different class formats that rotate, and within those workouts are circuits that also change monthly. Epic is a national chain, so you may be doing the same workout as a friend who goes to the outpost in NYC, SF, DC, or maybe just Coral Gables. Each class is 45 minutes and consists of a warmup, circuit, and cool down. By the time you're done mopping the floors, it ends up going a little over, but you'll probably be in and out within an hour. Even though it's strength training and you do exercises you may be used to doing in shoes, you're actually barefoot which I love! I've only been a handful of times but plan on returning again and again. The instructors are super kind and motivating. I always feel like I get a good workout and know I'll get stronger with consistent attendance. Not only that, but I'm planning for my first Tough Mudder this year and know this is the perfect place to train. Would definitely recommend giving this spot a try, no matter where you are on your fitness journey.

Everyday of the week is a different workout, with all the workouts changing every month; this will keep you on your toes on every workout, challenging yourself to learn and master new moves. Aside for the ever varying workouts, the instructors are great, they are always there to motivate you to push you a bit harder, and if you have questions they will also be there to assist you. In contrast to Crossfit, the exercises at Epic allow you to work at your own pace and level, you will see people who modify the every station to make it suitable for them, while others will level them up. But the most attractive point about Epic for me is its sense of community. If you have ever gone to a gym by yourself you will notice the difference that comes working out with someone side by side, it pushes you to work harder, to improve, and to take the boring out of the workouts. This is not a place to go if you are looking to "build up" given that the exercises are of a high intensity nature, but if you are looking for a community that will help you stick with your fitness goals Epic is a great choice.
