Update on first review.. new electric bike rear break was repaired. I picked it up at close of business on saturday. They are closed sunday and monday. I called the shop after.i git home and explained that the throtle is now not working with no power. He drove to my house on his day off and fixed it in about 20 minutes. Great service. So happy with the bike now. read more

I had my husband's old Scwhinn bike restored at Velo Republic and I could not have asked for a better experience. I drove from Dallas to Denton because Velo Republic had such amazing reviews and they did not disappoint! I didn't know exactly what I wanted when I brought the bike in and they helped walk me through the options and the costs associated with each option. It was a longer process due to distributors not having certain bike parts in stock, but they gave me the part details and I was able to find some I liked through eBay and Facebook marketplace. I actually had fun working with them to get the bike restored when it could have easily been a stressful experience. 100% recommend Velo Republic!! read more

Velo Republic is my new go to. I am new to the world of bike commuting and I took an old bike that had been sitting in storage in for new inter tubes. When I got there, the stated my tubes were probably fine and aired them up for me, and indeed they were! I asked a few questions about if I needed anything additional for my bike and they didn't over sell me, just suggested some bike lube and I was off! They tuned my bike super quick before I left too. What a find! I'm new to Texas and didn't have a clue where to get my bike fixed. One of my favorite things to do is ride the trails in my community. Just like that, the pedals stuck. What to do? I gave Velo Republic a call. Logan really surprised me! It's very hard to fit my bike into the trunk of my Acura TSX. I was having trouble finding a bottom bracket in stock and started with the shops close to my home--"big box" shops didn't have one. So I started calling around and happy that Velo Republic is the shop that had one available. The guys are friendly and helpful and I can't say enough about the "feel" of the shop. I ended up having them install the bracket (Wheels Mfg. has their own 16 notch bb tool) and servicing the fork with a faster than expected turn around time. I think they might have even ran through the gears and made a few courtesy adjustments too. Great job Velo! read more

Good selection of new, higher end (though still affordable) bikes. Ok this is my second attempt to write a review for this terrific bike store and owner.So if it shows up- read it and believe it. Met Gabe the owner on a bike ride. I was riding and Gabe was sag trucking looking for injured bikes along the route. I was " bike roadkill". Problem with the brakes which he spotted immediately. I was bonked out so my ride was over. Riding with Gabe on this journey, he donated his time, tools and repairs enabling every cyclist to return to the road where we belong. Also, remember there are many bike shops big and small but Gabe's shop is that shop out of the past where they care more about doing it right, knowing your name and even send you to a competitor because its about you and your satisfaction with your bike. Am I impressed-YES! I will make the trip from DFW to Denton because Velo Republic is that tuned into you as a rider whether you race, tour or just travel the crazy roads. Journey safely! My husband took up biking in the last 5 months, he is a Novice and will be doing the cross state Ragbrai ride in Iowa, starting Sunday. He purchased his first bike with their expertise and that is no small purchase. He has nothing but great things to say about Gabe, Nick and the entire team at Velo Republic. I brought my two older bikes in to double check the tune up I did myself. The first guy that helped me was super nice and checked out my bikes and said they were tuned well. One of my tires had a flat so I purchased a new tube. I asked the guy if he thought I needed to replace the tires and he said he would keep riding on them if it was his bike, so I took his word. In the middle of my next ride my tire popped and I had to walk my bike back the whole way home. I brought my bike back in and another individual helped me but seemed annoyed that he was doing so. I asked if he could replace my tube and tires, put new brake levers on my wife's bike and replace the handle bar tape on both bikes. When I picked my bikes up they tried to charge me for the tube they said they would replace for free and they left the original brake levers on my wife's bike and just spliced the wires for the new levers, making them both weak at braking. I wish I would have just done the handlebar wrap myself because it was covered in grease and they didn't even replace my wife's handlebar tape. The guy that helped me seemed irritated that I reminded him of the free tube. Won't be back here again since apparently I really inconvenienced them. read more

I was an absolute nobody last week when I went into this bike shop. I was in Denton for another reason and tried a few shops in Denton. Right away you could smell and feel the fact that this was a bike shop done funky right cool. The young dude asked me if I needed help and I said yup looking for used bikes. He immediately took me into the back room where an American Pickers-style array of bikes were located. He answered every question and was super cool and patient, like I was the only thing happening in his day. Not arrogant or condescending. The owner must be this way and he must hire folks like him. You could feel the bike vibe here. I left without anything, and the young dude took my name and number and said he'd call me if they got anything in that I wanted ($500 gravel bike; Bianchi, Bridgestone, etc . . .fat chance ha ha). I'll be back just to buy something and support this local shop. read more
