Roasted Red Potatoes and Edamame w/White Beans
    Harmonie T.

First off, major thanks to Phillip N. for letting me know about the deal on Living Social. Spent $58 for a weeks worth of vegan food. (Reg. $117) Score! Ordering online was easy since they had a "Redeem Your Living Social" button on their website. Delivery however, it was a little strange. The delivery guy kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I understand that it could be difficult to find the front entrance to the office I was working in at the time but he blamed it on factors that were not true and basically made me feel like it was my fault that he couldn't find the front door. (In reality, he parked in a further lot completely bypassing the front entrance and the closer lot.) At that point, I pretty much decided that I'd probably not order from this company again if that's how they are gonna treat me. But once I brought everything up to the office and took a bite of the Santa Fe Penne, I thought "damn, this is delicious." So, here is a breakdown of the food for that week: Entrées: - SANTA FE PENNE w/ zucchini, bell peppers, scallions, black beans, corn, garlic, cilantro and chipotle peppers. - BLACKENED TOFU, SWEET POTATOES AND CORN - COCONUT CURRY CHICKPEAS Sides: - OVEN ROASTED BROCCOLI & CARROTS - EDAMAME w/ white beans, peanuts, bell peppers, and scallions - ROASTED REDS: potatoes, red onion, garlic, rosemary, oregano, and paprika - QUINOA PILAF w/ onions, peas, corn, celery, basil, garlic, and sage Soup: - BLACK KALE SOUP w/ onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, sunchokes, and thyme. http://su.pr/2scLDO Dessert: - CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP! http://su.pr/4wFPGn :) My faves were the Penne, the Soup, the Quiona, the Red Potatoes, the Edamame, and the Blackened Tofu. Great flavors, great textures, great variety. The Coconut Curry Chickpeas is a whole 'nother story. Upon first impression, it sounds like it would be delicious. Upon first bite, it was yuck. Second bite was "maybe it just needs help." So creative resourceful me decided to play with the spices in my cabinet. I think it came down to adding Braggs Liquid Amino and garlic powder. Still not amazing but I don't like to waste food. I absolutely disliked the Roasted Broccoli & Carrots. It looked shriveled and sad and it tasted like it was burnt. I couldn't save it with my spice cabinet. Let's talk dessert. The Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies were some of the best tasting cookies I have ever had! Perfect texture, very chocolatey. Made by Mary Sue's Cookie Company, I am IN LOVE with these cookies! :) The portions lasted me the entire week. In fact, I could tell upon receipt that it was more than enough so I took the initiative to freeze some of the heartier dishes which lasted me another few weeks. Still tasted good too! Would I order from here again? Most likely. $117 for a single order is a really good price when you factor how much vegan food costs. They also deliver it right to you if you live in LA. Very convenient!

    1 week's worth of food
    Dani W.

This is my second week with Vegin out and I don't think I'll ever want to cook again! The amount of food is definitely worth the cost. As a single person, I struggle not to waste food and money by attempting to cook on my own (let alone keeping food vegan). Plus I'm saving time not having to plan and cook meals so I can relax after a long work day. The amount of food is a lot. The site estimates that all the food should be about 10 meals, but I could personally get about 15 meals. I'm really happy with quality of food, the price, and the customer service. I come home and the the food is neatly placed into my little ice chest. They also include a menu and ingredient list for the present and next week. In a nutshell, if you're seeking a plant-based diet but need convenient and delicious meals, Vegin Out may be exactly what you're looking for.

Cooler bag with two large blue ice left at my door keeping the food very well chilled.

There are a number of small boutique stores located here. This Japanese restaurant was a great find when I was out walking. I was actually going to pick up some food at another place. I read some of the reviews to get an idea of what to expect and was pleased to find that the food here is very good. This is a takeout only restaurant. They cater and also Chef Maezaki teaches sushi techniques in the surrounding area. I entered the front door and walked to the large counter. I was greeted with a smile and a friendly hello. I asked a number of questions and realized that I must be talking to Chef Maezakl. He showed me the menu. He also showed me specials that they were offering. After taking some time I decided to order the special wagyu beef entree, and a spicy tuna hand roll. I sat down in one of the chairs available and waited. I could smell great aromas from the food being prepared in the kitchen. I was happy when my food arrived about 15 minutes later. I could sense his pride in what he had prepared for me. I enjoyed the complete dinner that was the wagyu beef entree. There was rice, pickled cucumber, California roll sushi, a special piece of fried chicken, and chicken gyoza. It came in a perfectly packed & arranged container, ready to eat. I'm happy to say the taste translated to a great experience in dining. The marinated beef was tender and flavorful. The chicken was moist tender with a crisp exterior. The cucumber salad was bright and refreshing. The fresh sushi was a nice touch. I went back another time to try the cold chicken ramen, a three piece chicken appetizer, and the tiramisu. I was happy with the fresh flavor of the vegetables in the ramen. It was a nice change. All I can say about the tiramisu is that it has an addicting flavor! I can't wait to have it again. It's nice that the parking lot accommodates all the small boutique businesses. There has always been plenty of parking when I was there. This shopping area with its boutique stores is a good find. I look forward to my experience at CM Ghost Kitchen.

Overall hits the spot for sushi fix. The only drawback is it's priced the same as restaurants which would have served two pieces of each fish plus uni and ikura etc. Although I will say I was pleasantly surprised at the tiny squeeze bottle sauces provided and that it tasted homemade (ponzu, yuzu, unagi sauce). May order again if there's a deal.

The only complaints were the fries totally lacked flavor and I guess they were out of cheesecake and I wasn't even offered a replacement option, just given rice pudding. It was ok, I don't mind it but the cheesecake was part of my choice in ordering from here and I would've done the churros next if I was offered a choice. The fries were just there. They were beyond bland and idk maybe that's the intent when the sando packs such a punch. I dipped a couple in consommé before deciding they were just extra carbs and I wasn't feeling it. I did get a giant onion skin that first bite of sando as well. The salsas were a little too much for my weak palate. But the taco and sando! Outta this world! Both meats were tender, and delicious. I would absolutely order both again, the consommé is the perfect sidekick to both. Still bummed about the cheesecake. The idea of it sounds amazing. But delicious foods nonetheless.

If I see "salsa" I'm thinking house salsa. Let's be specific~ Speaking of salsa, I ordered salsa verde and got something more like salsa amarillo? It's the blandest salsa ever. I could get more out of a sauce packet tbh. I don't know if the water down their salsas maybe? Of the (probably) many watered down items served here, this horchata has at least 3x more water than flavor. Also don't know how you can water down the flavor of meat but add that to the list too. I will say texture on the meat is good like I know it's not over or undercooked, but I taste next to nothing. Also received the most solid as a rock limes ever. Confused how that even came to be. This place is full of shiny gimmicks with no substance. If you're looking for good mexican food look elsewhere. It's southern california, you've got options.

The order was from the Bird-N-Bun kitchen, but Allied Food To Go made it worse. We ordered a $30+ meal: A Spicy chicken sandwich, waffle fries, coleslaw, and a chicken slider sandwich. What we received was entirely incorrect and inedible. I want to emphasise that it's not just that the items were wrong, they were made with such neglect they should not be sold. It seemed like the Bird-N-Bun was surprised to receive an order, and someone threw together something from whatever was around. The 'Spicy Chicken Sandwhich's' chicken seemed old and had no spice (not just "this isn't spicy enough", I mean no attempt was made to spice or season the chicken), no sauce, no pickles. It was bread and chicken - not remotely matching the written description or images of their item. Worse, the slider was not a sandwich at all - literally just chicken sitting next to a roll. The waffle fries and coleslaw were missing entirely. They did include some regular non-waffle fries, so there was at least some aknowledgement that fries were included in the order. 4 items, 1 missing, 1 incorrect, 2 prepared so poorly it feels criminal to have been charged for it. Bird-N-Bun is 0/10. Afterwards, Allied Food To Go was extremely disappointing. When I contacted them about the order, they deflected, suggested I must have picked up the wrong order. They did not seem to understand that the issue was not just wrong or missing items. They initially refused to consider a refund, even after showing them in-person the order vs what we recieved. Customer service issued a $10 credit before I got a chance to explain the problem, and never responded to my messages. I followed up again days later and still received no reply. I would not order from Bird-N-Bun or Allied Food To Go again.

Low Carb - Breakfast Tacos served w/green salsa verde. 2. Low Carb - Eggwhite Breakfast Tacos served w/green salsa verde. Both versions were delicious, extremely satisfying and kept me energized throughout my mornings at work. The lean ground turkey meat, scrambled eggs/eggwhite were seasoned perfectly w/out tasting too salty or bland. The cauliflower tortillas were fluffy, hearty and tasty. I tossed both the green salsa verde since they were too spicy for me and the breakfast tacos were satisfying w/o it. Lunch Entrees 1. Balanced - Blackened Chicken served w/cauliflower and grain rice. Extremely good! Bummer, they didn't have it for this next week's order. The chicken breast was tender and juicy, while the cauliflower was crunchy and grained rice was nicely cooked. 2. Low Carb - Turkey Meatloaf served w/broccoli florets and grain rice. The turkey meatloaf was good but tasted a bit too mushy for me. Whereas the broccoli florets and grain rice were perfectly cooked and filling. I may try out the Balanced or Keto version at some point. 3. Low Carb - Chicken Tenders (2pcs) Plate served w/a chipotle sauce, roasted Brussel sprouts and cauliflower rice. The chicken tenders were hearty w/a little bit of heat to them. The chipotle sauce was too spicy for me. The roasted Brussel sprouts were a bit al-dente, but I still dig it. The cauliflower rice was also tasty, a little bit of heated kick (still edible). 4. Low Carb - Chicken and Cauliflower Rice. My last and simplest meal for the week, which was tender, moist and flavorful. Overall, I highly recommend Muscle Up Meals. I will definitely continue w/them and have already ordered my second batch of food! (Stayed tuned, I'll continue posting pics of new meals).
