I liked the idea and the food is fresh, but there was something lacking. I can certainly understand the convenience factor of having healthful, properly proportioned prepared foods in the refrigerator, ready to be enjoyed after a long day. However, the experience was only mostly good for me. Here are my thoughts: 1 - delivery: when I ordered online, at checkout there was no indication of which items were on the menu or when it was scheduled to arrive. Calls to the service line led to messages left which were not returned. When the food did arrive, it was well packed and hand delivered in reusable bags. 2 - food: all fresh and healthy but some didn't have much flavor. - veggie korma: nice and light for a potato dish, but fairly bland. - sweet/sour tofu and veggies: similarly bland and required a longer cook time on the tofu and spice additions for flavor. -pasta primavera: this was pretty good and garlicky. A healthier pasta would have been a nice addition. - spiced sweet potatoes; fantastic and unexpected flavor combination. - peanut rice: simple and good. - italian chickpea salad: exactly as it sounds and quite good. - Kale with golden beets: delicious. - tomato/hempseed bisque: the star of the order. 3 - customer service: as far as I can tell, it is understaffed. I have reached out to the company twice by phone with no response. There is no live operator and apparently the vm is not answered. In addition, although there are some delicious looking items in the pictures shared on Yelp which I would be happy to order, there is no indication online of how to order them. My recommendation would be to be clear about the value of the concenience to you. First off, major thanks to Phillip N. for letting me know about the deal on Living Social. Spent $58 for a weeks worth of vegan food. (Reg. $117) Score! Ordering online was easy since they had a "Redeem Your Living Social" button on their website. Delivery however, it was a little strange. The delivery guy kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I understand that it could be difficult to find the front entrance to the office I was working in at the time but he blamed it on factors that were not true and basically made me feel like it was my fault that he couldn't find the front door. (In reality, he parked in a further lot completely bypassing the front entrance and the closer lot.) At that point, I pretty much decided that I'd probably not order from this company again if that's how they are gonna treat me. But once I brought everything up to the office and took a bite of the Santa Fe Penne, I thought "damn, this is delicious." I couldn't save it with my spice cabinet. Let's talk dessert. The Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies were some of the best tasting cookies I have ever had! Perfect texture, very chocolatey. Made by Mary Sue's Cookie Company, I am IN LOVE with these cookies! :) The portions lasted me the entire week. I've been ordering Vegin'Out on and off for years now (we had moved out of their local delivery for a while and I really missed their food and convenience). Everything is always fresh and healthy, and I appreciate that they don't over salt or over sweeten their meals. My husband, daughter and I are vegan, and I try to mostly cook whole-food and oil-free, but sometimes I just want a break from cooking and take-out is just so unhealthy. Vegin'Out provides meals I feel good about eating and feeding my family - and we always enjoy the food. I feel the price is reasonable for their service, especially considering they use organic ingredients and everything is always super fresh. I had a problem with my code, which was fixed within a few hours of emailing (on a Saturday!). I ordered, expecting normal or even late delivery, since I had ordered late. Thumbs UP to the Vegan Cleanse. I have ordered from VeginOut before but decided to give the cleanse a try to jump-start my diet. Day #1 and #2 were a challenge, as with any cleanse, due to lower calorie intake and cutting carbs. On Days #3, #4, and #5 I had more energy and was more alert. I lost 4 pounds in 5 days! Update: I received an apology after posting a negative review. As well as this response on the review which is filled with lies. Turns out it's the owner who runs both social media and emails so it's not just a bad employee- it's a bad business strategy and poor social skills. I had been getting meals delivered for weeks. The food doesn't look nearly as great as the photos but it was convenient and tasty nonetheless. However who ever is running their social media and email service is not very friendly or good at their customer service job. They kept following and unfollowing me on social media which I thought was strange but ignored it. Then I stopped receiving my meals even though I had the weekly plan. I messaged asking if there was an issue and they rudely said "you must have missed all the notifications saying your card declined"... never once received a single email saying there was an issue - in fact when I didn't get a notification for my confirmed order - I placed a second order just in case. I sent a screen shot and they stopped responding and unfollowed me once again. I sent an email letting them know of their representatives behavior and asked why when I logged on now it says I don't have a subscription- I had never canceled it but now I wanted to and wanted a refund for the food I never received- no apology. I'd like to be a fan but a number of factors offset to make it just A-OK: Pros: -- Very good quality, taste and variety of food -- off to a great start! -- Well-sealed for shipping and storage. -- Informative web site as to menu item nutrition, shipping, timing, etc. Cons: -- Single weekly order is packaged for all 3 servings of each menu item in a single sealed pouch -- which requires you to thaw all and then refreeze part, containerize it yourself into servings and freeze-safe sealed containers and then rethaw, if you opt to spread it out over the course of the week... or else eat it all consecutively which I find tiresome. -- Expensive; not a good bang for the buck for what amounts to about 5 days of 2 meals per day, some of which are simple vege salads -- so $19 per meal. -- "Packing peanuts" kind of thingies are like dust and get all over everywhere. I get it periodically when I manage to take some of the edge off of how irritating the cons are and to add variety to my local coop's prepared vegan food and fresh produce... Edited to add reply to business response: I wish you had replied to what seems a controllable con: packaging 3 servings of each menu item instead of a single serve pouch. This is my second week with Vegin out and I don't think I'll ever want to cook again! The amount of food is definitely worth the cost. As a single person, I struggle not to waste food and money by attempting to cook on my own (let alone keeping food vegan). Plus I'm saving time not having to plan and cook meals so I can relax after a long work day. The amount of food is a lot. The site estimates that all the food should be about 10 meals, but I could personally get about 15 meals. I'm really happy with quality of food, the price, and the customer service. I come home and the the food is neatly placed into my little ice chest. They also include a menu and ingredient list for the present and next week. I recently got a coupon from a friend and tried out this service. The website is very professional and gives details about all of the dishes including ingredients. They are very friendly and accommodating, willing to provide gluten-free options on almost everything. On the items that were inherently gluten based such as bulger salad or Seitan Stew, the company lets the customer just choose another item to substitute for that one, giving you doubles of a suitable substitute. I chose extra White Bean and Kale soup instead of the salad and an extra portion of the Tofu Curry in place of the stew. When I called to ask about details, I was answered promptly and treated very courteously. I was very impressed with the service down to the at-your-door delivery of the meals in a cold pack container. I have to say that I was skeptical at first, but when I unpacked the items, they were all very cold even after I was delayed in getting home by an hour. Let me preface this next section by saying that I have a huge appetite and make no excuses for the amount of food that I can consume at any given sitting. In fact, a foodie friend of mine used to tell the servers, "Keep the food coming. She eats like a linebacker!" So, when I saw the sizes of the containers that were supposed to be for three servings, needless to say I was not convinced. That is, until I began to actually eat. I was very surprised at how filling each of the entrees were. I mean, here is this seemingly small container that somehow, like pulling things out of a Mary Poppins bag, seemed to give this endless amount of food! Very impressive to say the least! How is this at all possible? I did manage to get actually not only 3 but 4 servings from each of the entrees! Now, I did supplement my food for the week with fruits, nuts and some quinoa and brown rice because I am very active and also just like to eat. Maybe I am very active because I like to eat. Whatever, I was finally finished with all of the food by Saturday from a Monday delivery. An average eater would probably be able to get the full 7 days from this. Breakdown: White Bean and Kale soup: Really great flavor but a little too much broth for me (here comes that big eater thing again!) Kale Salad: I would advise you to eat this in the first couple of days. I didn't and, not realizing that there was oil on the leaves, the kale was a little limp. My bad. the sun dried tomato vinaigrette was tasty but needed to be allowed to come to room temperature as it congeals in the fridge. Cauliflower and Carrots: These were very good, not overdone. Again, I felt like I had a much larger serving in that tiny container...magic, I tell you! Roasted Reds: Delicious roasted baby red potatoes. Tofu Curry with Jasmine Brown Rice: This little number was literally packed with chunks of tofu and cauliflower in a yellow curry sauce. I like my curry to be flavored with sauce and not swimming in it and this fit the bill nicely. I am a wimp when it comes to spiciness but would have liked just a tad more flavor to this but it was pretty good all in all. I had two orders of this as I did not get the Seitan Stew. I heard that stew is amazing and wished that I could have tried it. Penne Pasta with Wild Mushrooms: Brown rice pasta was substituted for wheat pasta in this dish. I can tell you that getting brown rice pasta texture down is not an easy feat, but this was perfectly al dente and did not suffer from over or undercooking like my attempts at home. I liked the mild garlicky oil flavor on the pasta as well. I believe that somehow I managed 4 servings out of that teeny container...can you tell I am still dumb-founded? Crazy! Vegan cookies: I couldn't eat these and gave them away. Probably a good thing. My friend says they are scrumptious! I really liked the convenience of the already prepared vegan meals and felt like these were a good value and even more convenient than going to the store. Just tried this service for the first time and I had high hopes based on the reviews but I am severely disappointed. I love what they are trying to do with making vegan food easy and accessible but unfortunately half of the food this week I found inedible. The taste was just that bad that I physically cannot stomach it. It seems I am alone in this opinion, so maybe I picked a terrible week to order. Who knows. It basically comes down to about a little over half of the food I won't be eating because I personally can't stomach it. It feels like a waste of money to be honest since now I have to buy something else to replace the meals I cannot eat. I literally cannot give away the food - none of my friends, roommates, or boyfriend want it either. I guess that says something. read more

First of all, I'm vegetarian, I'm picky when it comes to food and I don't have time to cook. I would eat out every day until I discovered Vegin' Out. I've been getting their deliveries for about 4 months now (had to skip only 2 or 3 weeks due to travel) and I'm a super happy customer. The very first week I happened to receive a delivery that wasn't completely up my alley but I kept ordering from them because I was curious what the other dishes were like. And I wasn't disappointed. The menu repeats every 8 weeks, so after these 8 weeks you'll get a good idea what each dish tastes like. I now know when to substitute one dish for another, which is super easy to do. I pay for 4 weeks upfront delivery and I only have to send a quick email to adjust to my travel schedule or if I want items substituted. As others have mentioned already, delivery is on point and super friendly. These guys really love what they do, and it translates into the meals. In regards to bland: I absolutely love the fact that the dishes are only lightly salted and not over spiced. I have sensitive taste buds and I appreciate that these meals give me the option to add salt to taste, which is basically all it needs. But I rarely add anything to the dishes because the flavors usually satisfy me. On hot summer days I might add a little bit of salt but additions are usually limited to fresh ground pepper and hemp seed for the salads. If you are used to processed foods or fast food, this might be something that one needs to get used to. Keep in mind that you're eating some super healthy, freshly prepared food, not overly processed garbage :) The cookies: I had to order extra cookies for this week because I eat them all after 2 days. Very difficult to ration such delicious things! My favorites are the Lemon Thyme. Bottom line: It's absolutely worth trying if you can afford it and I don't think that $117 a month is a lot of money for so much delicious and healthy food. I first sampled a few dishes several months ago from someone else's order and I fell in looooove with the Lentil Loaf and White Bean & Kale Soup. When I saw a deal for Vegin' Out pop up on Gobble Green I made sure to pick one up right away. Even though I wanted to check out some different dishes when I placed my own order my desire for that yummy lentil loaf won over and I waited until it was on the weekly menu again this week to submit my order. What I got: Lentil loaf Wild Mushroom Penne White Bean and Kale Soup Chili Elbows and Cheeze Wheat Berry Salad Kale with Roasted Butternut Squash Chipotle Potato and Broccoli Salad Almond Shortbread Cookies My delivery this week was missing the bag of cookies so I emailed them about the omission and bright and early Wednesday morning they hand delivered a bag of cookies to my office PLUS an extra bag for the trouble! Sweet! My package of food was delivered towards the earlier end of the specified window and the amount of food you get is pretty good. Each dish is supposed to be 2-3 servings and if you mix 'em up and try a couple at a time you can easily get 3 servings out of everything. I haven't eaten anything else this week aside from my own breakfast and I still have a ton of food left that will more than likely even get me through the weekend give or take a meal or two here and there. I am officially in love with Vegin Out... and am literally stuffing my face with the kale salad with their INCREDIBLE peanut dressing as I type! I received my first order from Vegin Out today and I am very impressed! I am not vegan, but wanted to find a healthy, fresh meal delivery service since I have a new baby at home and I do not have time to cook for myself. I researched a bunch of meal delivery services, and I decided to go with Vegin Out for a couple of reasons. 1) I didn't want to go with a "diet" food delivery service (even though I need to lose weight) because I didn't want to be hungry all the time. 2) I am a nursing mom, and my baby has a sensitivity to dairy (basically if I eat anything with dairy in it, she screams for 5 hours straight after she nurses). So, even though I'm not vegan, I really liked that this food is dairy free. 3) I love that it is local and fresh, and mostly organic. A lot of the other delivery services were not so fresh and definitely not organic. 4) The price is reasonable. A lot of the other delivery services with fresh, wholesome food were outrageously expensive. So...I got my first delivery today. It is awesome food! I am a total food snob, and I found the food very tasty and yummy and satisfying. My kids, who are super picky eaters, loved the cookies. I found the food to be very filling and delicious. After eating this food, I can say that I could become vegan and not miss eating meat or dairy...so I may, in fact, become vegan afterall! I've been getting this service for about 2 months now. I've been vegan for 4 years, and I don't have time to cook when I get home from work, so we were going out a lot. Eating in restaurants it's harder to control the ingredients, and of course the money adds up fast! Or I'd open a can of soup at home - not the best nutrition-wise. At work, I'd order in for lunch - same deal as eating in restaurants - you don't know if it's really vegan, and it's usually unimaginative. So I decided to try Vegin' Out, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Most of what I've received is very tasty. As soon as I get the box (delivered to San Diego in insulated packaging with ice packs), I put an entrée and side in the freezer for later in the week. I take another entrée and side to work for lunches, and keep the third entrée and side at home for dinners. Perfect! The menus vary each week so there's a lot of variety. The soups are ALWAYS superb. I could sign up for just soup delivery and be happy. I rarely get to try the cookies because someone else in my house (who is NOT vegan btw) throws a fit if he can't eat the cookies! Now I order two bags of cookies every week (and he tries to eat them both). It's interesting that some people think the food is bland. My only complaint is that the food is sometimes too spiced up for me, and they don't cook to order - you get what's on the menu just the way it's prepared. I'm not big on lots of garlic, tons of curry, or chili flakes in my spaghetti sauce. When it comes to spices, a little goes a long way, because I want to actually taste the vegetables and grains in the dishes. As I've pointed out to them already, customers who like chili flakes in their Italian food can add it, but customers who don't can't remove it! I do add salt to some of the dishes. I don't find that to be a big deal. Salt can be added, but too much salt can't be removed. Now they have a deal where for every 10 orders you make, you get the 11th order free. I got my first order yesterday. The food looks and tastes amazing. Like, 4 real amazing. And it's uber-super-healthy :) In a single order (now $117, which includes home delivery in LA area), you get 3 main dishes, 4 sides, about a quart of soup, and 5 cookies. You can add supplemental stuff for an additional price. I didn't put my order in online until Sunday night, but I still got the delivery Monday morning. They gave me a two hour delivery window (between 11-1), and they were knocking on my door just after 11. Last night we ate the Tofu Chilaquile and kale with palm hearts and peas. Both were really good. They also give you a menu for the week that provides a list of all the ingredients in everything you're getting. That's a major plus. We are trying to squeeze 4 or 5 meals for two people out of the single order (i.e. dinner all week). It's not clear yet if that will be possible, but if so, this will turn out to be a great deal. I give Vegin Out my most enthusiastic recommendation. If you're not vegan, don't write it off - the food is fantastic! read more

I recently did the Groupon where a week's worth of food was delivered. The food arrived on-time on Monday, in a nice bag with cooling packs. All the food was packaged awesomely and with large portions and was still cold when I got home late at 8PM. The food was REALLY good. And it lasted well over a week actually. They portion everything out really well too. For example the soups all had plenty of veggies and ingredients, it wasn't just a bunch of broth. They make VEGAN food taste amazing. The sweets were awesome. I would definitely order again. Out of about seven or eight dishes, almost all of them were really great. Only one or two were average. I still give it five stars though. Customer Service and delivery: I used the Groupon recently and they were incredibly accommodating. I'm allergic to broccoli and they went out of their way to send me the stir fry made without it, so that was a huge plus. Their customer service is also top notch and they will get back to you after hours to confirm their order and it arrived cold and on time. Background: I've been raised vegetarian so I'm used to eating more bland food with wildly divergent tastes so I'm used to vegan/vegetarian cooking. Taste: I wasn't that impressed with the multiple kale salads and the dressing that arrived congealed and wouldn't liquefy unless you heated it. The bean salad was just that really, beans. I had to use some spices to make it more appealing because it was just bland but the stir fry I absolutely loved. That was the highlight of the weeks offerings. It was amazing. Quality of the food: It's very high quality ie. great -non-gmo, organic, etc. Cons: I think if you count it up and calculate how much everything costs, you would definitely be saving money if you bought take home food from Whole Foods or Trader Joes as it's not cheap and does mount up. it's just not really feasible as a cooking alternative for people who want to eat healthy delivered food as the cost may not justify the means and in addition, you could find a much wider selection at the health food store and at the store you could choose and specify the quantity as well which Vegin Out doesn't offer. read more

Yay, Vegin Out! First of all, they don't have a ridiculous wait time for delivery (ahem, Gobble Green). The food is delivered fresh (not frozen). The meals lasted me more than a week for one person- total bargain for fresh vegan food! I can't remember everything I got but I know I loved the pasta. The jambalaya was very good and appropriately spicy, although I did not enjoy the fake meat so much- a bit rubbery. The kale salad rocked my world, and, seriously, whose world is rocked by kale salad? The orange chocolate chip cookies were so good I think I ate them all in 2 days. The only think I did not like was the tofu/corn/sweet potato dish. I used a voucher for this service, but I will definitely be ordering from them again. read more

To begin, Vegin Out has made my life so much easier. From delivering to my house, to the front door steps of my office. They're customer service is great, and I've even been in contact with the cool and handsome delivery guys they have. They make sure we get our produce, I would recommended this to anybody ! I love this service! I had tried other vegan food delivery services before and I was right about to give up when I decided to give Vegin Out a try. Not only is the food less expensive, but it is the best tasting by far! Even my teenage son, who is a pescetarian, loves their food. You don't have to be wealthy to use this service (I'm certainly not). At $117 per week, I actually find that I'm spending as much as I was while struggling (and failing) to maintain a healthy diet. Okay, so I am officially obsessed with Vegin Out! I'm a vegetarian, not vegan (can't give up froyo and cheese, I've tried, not happening) but the food from Vegin Out is beyond delicious! They use a variety of ingredients, and the food is spiced perfectly. There is a ton of food, and it easily lasts me a week. They recommend one main entree and two side dishes per meal, but it's more than I can handle at once. I usually just have one entree and one side. Great customer service, reliable deliverly, and ohmygosh the vegan cookies! They are soooooo good. Even my very carnivorous fiance enjoys the food from here, even thought I don't like sharing :) read more

True Confession- I'm a vegetarian but I hate caulflower. My husband and I are trying our first Vegin Out delivery order and rasting our Greek Roasted side dish (with cauliflower) tonight. Unbelievably delicious. Amazing!!! We're chomping on the veggies (including all the cauliflower) cold- that's right- cold-- right out of the container. It's that good! The customer service is good. Ugh- our security guards in our condo complex can be a pain but Dan made the delivery work well despite the security guards and our crazy intercom system at the lobby. The portions are a good healthy size and it looks like a beautiful feast. My husband just stole another vegan cookie and he's smiling. We can't wait to try some more dishes. No more fighting over who's grocery shopping or cooking late at night after work... Yay! My husband and I are happily chewing away...hurrah for Vegin Out!! read more

Absolutely LOVE THIS SERVICE. The food is DELICIOUS and the service is IMPECABLE. Saves me tons of time (and money) hunting around at the farmers market and is just as fresh, if not FRESHER. Aaaaah I love it! It's definitely the cheapest I've seen of any food delivery service. With me being a musician, this isn't something that I can afford very often, but most people with normal jobs can :-) I've used them twice so far, and I've been very satisfied both times. The pesto tofu and portobello mushrooms w/wild rice dish is by far my favorite, and the sesame tahini cookies are very unique! Their customer service is also very good. The man or men that I speak with on the phone are always super friendly. The food always lasts me a week which is good, and I even got my non-veg boyfriend to try a few things (I admit I'm not vegan either, I'm vegetarian - halfway there!) If I could afford this more often I'd definitely be a more frequent customer. I hope this business lasts a long time. The food is delicious! read more

I really love this service. I found them on a Gather Green coupon. I had tried another vegan home delivery service and was not happy with it. All the food was frozen and pretty uninteresting. Vegin out was amazing. Kale and golden beet salad, bean dishes, mac 'n cheez and great desserts. Most of it is organic and all of it is better than I can make for myself. They are the personal chef I always wanted. And when I did the math on how much I spend on organic prodouce at the co-op market, often vegin out is less. read more

I recently had back surgery, and wanted to eat healthy during my recovery, but knew I wouldn't have the mobility to cook. I took the chance on Vegin out, and am so happy I did! I think it has helped me reduce the inflamation from the surgery, and generally feel better faster. The food is so good that I am going to continue the service when i go back to work in a couple of weeks! My wife and I both are eating the meals . . . . we supplement with a big salad and extra veggies, as we really like to eat a lot of greens. We go out to eat once or twice, and the single-serving weekly package has been the perfect amount for two of us. It makes it a bit more economical that way.
