I'm always excited to see a vegan Caesar on the menu -- it's not something you find everywhere -- and I loved that I could order a small size since I wasn't super hungry (and their portions can be generous). My husband couldn't stop talking about the Beyond Steak. The texture was absolutely on point and left him wondering how they even pull that off. Long time Veggie Grill patron and fan here. I love their U Village location, we almost always stop here when in the area. I love their big menu, so many delicious things to pick from. On my most recent visit I tried the farmhouse chicken sandwich. It was my first time trying Yo Egg, and it was so good! Definitely messy because the egg runs like real egg when you cut into it, but it was delicious. My husband had a burger which he really enjoyed. We like the variety of sides you can get here now! Everything tasted fresh and came out quickly. It wasn't busy at all when I went, so finding a seat was no problem--pretty ideal for a chill lunch. Parking was also way easier than I expected for a campus area, which was a nice surprise. First time trying out this place. The hydration smoothie is so tangy it's hard to drink. The Mac n cheese was not very cheesy, had a weird flavor, and the slightest spiciness to it. The tiny chocolate cake, which the cashier assured me was good, is good but more fudge top and little actual cake. My meal was $31 plus change for a 14oz smoothie, snack size mac n cheese and small piece of cake. They do have student discount of 20% but the sign is (in)conveniently located around the counter after you pay, I obviously do not see this until after paying which was disappointing. Also the guy who is calling names when food is done, does so very softly and my food sat, smoothie melting, for quite a while before he called the name again, I wasn't the only person who was waiting for food that was done and did not hear him call the name. They also need an extra employee to maintain the dining room better. The cashier is swamped and doesn't have a lot of time to wipe tables between customers, when I arrived the seats and almost every table was dirty. In my hour long visit I saw her try her best to keep up but the constant stream of customers in line made it hard for her to get anything else done. I've been coming here for years and I really love the marketing of Veggie Grill. The atmosphere is bright and the decor is minimalist and warm. Service has always been great and the various GM's and managers that circle through really give it their all. I appreciate the hard working cooks and prep staff getting orders out and you can hear and see preparation of food in the open kitchen. As this is fast and convenient food, it is also thoughtful and balanced. If one doesn't want the faux chicken or beef then they can opt out. There are lots of fresh salads and healthy options to choose from. I like that Veggie Grill has its own vegetarian identity. The food tastes really good and it doesn't try to be something it isn't. I say this because some vegetarian restaurants try to make their food as close to non plant base as possible and the end product may be not come out right. Thanks for keeping my belly full. My go to's have been the fish tacos, the kale salad, and buffalo wraps. So good. read more

Slimy filth covering every surface, including the silverware and cups they give you. The toilet seat in the women's bathroom has been dangerously loose for many many months (6+). I've complained to management and even sent an email to VG about it, but they leave it. I guess they want a lawsuit? Also, every time you walk to the bathroom you risk breaking your neck because the floor is super slick from their kitchen. I've been wanting to try this place for years! I was pleasantly surprised. My friend and I went for lunch. She had a "cheeseburger",fries and a green smoothie. I had a tempeh bowl that was lightly dressed with dressing that was sort of sweet, a bit spiced. All of the food was good. I will definitely go back, I saw other dishes I would like to try that were tofu based. My friend loved here burger. I tried the green smoothie highly recommend it. I've been a Veggie Grill addict since 2009 - I lived in Southern California and went a few times a month to enjoy the All Hail Kale with blackened tempeh. I'm not vegetarian but I would pick the original version of that salad over any other salad from anywhere. It had a sweet papaya ginger dressing that offset the bitterness of the kale, topped with a corn salsa that also added a bit of sweetness to balance the kale salad. We moved to Austin and I literally found a recipe for a copycat all hail kale salad so I could still have it between trips home. When we moved to Seattle, imagine my joy at finding a veggie grill less than a mile walk from my office. I ate there multiple times a week. Then the All Hail Kale was discontinued. I continued eating at Veggie Grill weekly but really missed that salad. Imagine my joy at seeing its return years later. But friends, it's terrible. The papaya ginger dressing was replaced with a mango lemon vinaigrette that taste all vinegar lemon and no mango. It's so tart that it literally hurt my mouth too much to finish. And I like sour and spicy foods so that's saying something. The corn slaw is gone, taking the tomatoes from the salad too. It was so bad. After years of waiting to see it on the menu again, I'm really disappointed. And my mouth still stings from that way too tangy dressing. Please go back to the original All Hail Kale recipe - it was a masterpiece and the new version falls so short of the original. I loved the Veggie Grill in Downtown Seattle and decided to drop by this specific location while shopping around U-Village. I would not recommend this specific location at all. The food we got was not good and tasted extremely fake/off. The mac and cheese tasted cardboardy and I don't have anything good to say about the particular entrees that we got. The service was pretty good and we were able to get our food quickly, but I really wouldn't recommend this location simply because of how bad the food tasted. read more

I don't always go to chain restaurants, but Veggie Grill is always a safe bet, even when I'm hanging out with omnivores. All vegetarian all the time, they have a small selection of beer/wine and they provide tasty cooked to order food. I've been to several Veggie Grill locations over the years and this one is basically on par with the others...just as a chain should be. Menus are provided right at the front of the door so you can sit down and decide at your leisure what you're trying to eat today. I know I always struggle a bit because there are so many options I want!! Also look around for the seasonal menu sign - there are usually 5+ more choices that aren't listed on the normal menu. This establishment had sticky all over the floor (I was wearing my hiking shoes, but still not happy), but was overall fairly clean otherwise. I decided to go with a Reuben and some mac & cheese. The sauerkraut was a bit different that other places, which isn't a bad thing, has a kinda dill pickle note to it. The mac & cheese was crazy bland and I hated it. I loved the grilled mushrooms especially. The prices seemed a bit steep for being meat-free, but the portion size was so big I actually got two meals out of it. This location wasn't particularly busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon, but they did seem understaffed, with just 1-2 staff members bringing food out and clearing the tables. I really love this Veggie Grill location. It has a lot of Vegan options and they are incredible. I especially like the buffalo chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, and nachos. I also enjoy the bbq Mac burger. Whatever your taste, I am sure they have an option for you. I also like their selection of beverages and organic sodas. Their carrot cake is also one of the most delicious vegan carrot cakes I have ever eaten. The staff is always friendly and their service is prompt. When I ordered I asked for ketchup and ranch and was waved off and then served a mystery dipping sauce that was very good but not what I ordered. I tried one bite of the chocolate pudding and it was like putting acid in your mouth. It was so sour and very obviously spoiled. I had to spit it out. I have ordered this same dessert at the downtown location and know what it normally tastes like. The croissant was also baked to perfection. As for the VG Classic burger, you can barely tell that the burger isn't real meat. The "special sauce" is indeed special and goes well with the classic burger. At this price point, however, I would hope for larger serving sizes. I tried the SLU Location before and thought it was good so decided to come to this location to try as we were in the area. I got the all Hale kale salad and you can tell that the ingredients was fresh and high quality. It comes with a citrus dressing but you definitely dont need it. For the Yelp Big Night In during April, our family ended up ordering from 5 different places. One of my daughters ordered from one of her fave places - Veggie Grill. This order came from their U Village location. She ordered the Buffalo Bomber sandwich with fake chicken that was breaded and had buffalo sauce and she added avocado to it. The sandwich came with fries. She also ordered the crispy cauliflower which was breaded and came with Buffalo sauce on the side. She told me she liked both items and will definitely go back to this restaurant. I've eaten here with her in the past and the place was very busy and the vegetarian food was pretty tasty.
