I'm not kidding when I say this is some of the most phenomenal pizza I've ever had (especially the crust). My only complaint is don't expect the waitstaff to treat you with "traditional American customer service etiquette" at first, I thought they came across as a little rude, but I think as I was enjoying my meal I observed this is most likely an Indian family owned business and they tend to leave you alone to eat your meal in peace rather than the "traditional American customer service etiquette" of constantly checking to see how everything is. I've only been to Veggie crust once when they first opened to have a looksie. I almost exclusively order from them because sometimes I'm lazy. The pizzas and fresh juices are great! The dough is fresh made and the quality can't be beat. I've had almost every pizza but the cauliflower Manchurian Pizza and broccoli spinach feta are my faves. App-wise go for the spicy wedges, cheese bites, the salad is fresh and the portions are decent. However, I would advise never order the pasta. I ordered it recently and it was a bit cold when it arrived so I decided to warm it in the microwave my bowl was full of oil when it came out. It was a bit gross and I couldn't eat it. I've never seen pasta swim in that much oil I could've bottled and used it for cooking. Long story short stick to the pizza and apps but definitely skip the oil-laden pasta. read more

First of all, I have been waiting months for them to open, so I was a little too excited to visit them on opening day. Parking on Somerville Ave is not very good. I drove around for about 10m before finding a spot. All of the side streets were Permit parking except Sunday. Now on to the food, they have unique Indian inspired thin crust pizza (and other food options). We tried the Vegan Coconut Corn and Vegan Roasted Eggplant pizzas. Comparing to my current favorite vegan pizza, the Silurian from Flying Saucer in Salem, both were good but not as good as flying saucer (IMHO). Out of 5 of us who tried the food, 4 were fans of the coconut corn and 2 were fans of the eggplant. We did not try any of the nice cream flavors as they are sweetened with stevia and that's not our cup of tea. We did try two juices, Wake Up Punch and Orange Eyes and were fans of both. Restaurant was doing decent business for their first day and I look forward to going back. I really wanted a vegan friendly pizza place that would make me pick them first before Flying Saucer and first impression didn't pass that test, but I intend to give them more chances. Thank goodness for places that care about dietary restrictions. I unfortunately have to follow a non-meat diet for health reasons and Veggie crust has vegan cheese that accomodates my needs! They cater to a variety of needs from gluten free to vegan and of course vegetarian. I love the add-ons they have like fried zucchini stick. Vegetarians have the option to keep their dairy, Vegans have the options of subbing for vegan cheese...it's perfect! With a vast array of killer pizzas, paninis, pastas, and other tasty offerings, Veggie Crust delivers on quality ans flavor - all with very little fluff and very quickly. While you can't go wrong with any of the pizzas, other 'must try' dishes include the veggie Bolognese (how they get such rich flavor in the sauce is mind blowing), and the corn avocado panini. The raw bar juices are pressed fresh in front of you, also. The orange pepper is amazing. The prices are on point for the pizza, while the pasta and sandwiches are quite the value for such high quality, fresh ingredients. Parking is easy across the street in the Market Basket plaza. I didn't expect to ever praise a Boston restaurant for offering better South Asian food than is available in New York / New Jersey. But I have failed to find a quality desi pizza option in the NY metro area, and Veggie Crust has finally fulfilled my desire. The paneer pie was very good, but the gobi manchurian pie was definitely a favorite. The only pie I tried that I was not a huge fan of was the curry leaf portabella, as I didn't find the flavors so well balaned personally. I plan to try the pao bhaji pie on a next visit. read more

I've ordered from here twice and both times the vegan Mexican pizza is my go to, so delicious. I'm not vegan but this is the type of pizza to make me go vegan. A little pricy (24$) with tax and everything included, but the large pizza went a long way. It brings kidney style beans, vegan cheese, green/red onion, cilantro and fresh tomato. It might seem quite simple, but the freshness of the pizza and the flavor it brings with these ingredients included makes it very appetizing. I will say I don't (usually) enjoy vegan cheese, just because it isn't like the cheese we are used to that melts, but trust me, the way they make it on this specific pizza is on a different level. It is a small shop with only a couple tables. We ordered it over the phone and then picked it up so, I can't say how busy it typically gets. They also have a vegan juice bar, vegan ice cream, paninis, salads and sides. Oh! And it's not just strictly vegan they also have vegetarian options and gluten free vegan options for pizza. I'm a fan of how this place balances between taste, eco-consciousness, and all dietary restrictions. For someone born and (mostly) raised in India, the concept of paneer tikka pizza was something as commonplace as something found at the local Dominos, Pizza Huts and Papa Johns, so this food adventure was a trip down memory lane. We got the half and half paneer tikka pizza and pao bhaji pizza. The pav bhaji was not buttery, spicy, and tart as I expected, and seemed like a potato curry slathered on the pizza with a garnish of onions and cilantro. The paneer tikka was fantastic. I wasn't very enthusiastic at my sister's​ suggestion of getting pizza, but when I took a look at their Indian-fusion menu, I was sold. Manchurian pizza? Next time, you should lead with that. We walked into the small dining room and took a couple seats at the bar. The menu looked a little confusing, but after some clarification by our server, we realized there was an option for vegan cheese. There's no vegan paneer, which is a bummer, but it was nice to have the option (even if it probably was Daiya) While I wanted to try every flavor, we were able to narrow it down to two: coconut corn alfredo and veggie manchurian. There were three manchurian options, but the garden veggie option meant more ingredients. I ended up liking the corn alfredo much better than the manchurian. Daiya doesn't melt smoothly, but the added coconut base alfredo sauce was creamy and had the feel of melty cheese. The pops of corn kernels were pleasing and didn't​ mask the subtle flavor of the sauce, while tomatoes and basil gave it a pizza margherita vibe. Garden veggie manchurian had a lot of great ingredients, but I was hoping for something more to the effect of a veggie manchurian dish spread over a pizza crust. What it ended up being was a layer of manchurian sauce on the pizza, then topped with veggies. I didn't pay too much attention to parking since we walked, but I believe there was metered parking in front. My mom and I ordered 2 pizzas: one that was half paneer tikka masala and half margherita, and the other pizza that was half curry leaf pesto portabella and half garden vegetable. My favorite from most-to-least favorite: paneer tikka masala (loved it), tomato mozzarella, garden vegetable, and curry leaf pesto portabella (it was fine). The crust isn't crunchy like I like a lot of pizza crusts, but it was suitable for this type of pizza. My mom and I thought the vegetable garden pizza was kind of spicy, probably because of the jalapenos (I kind of chose it on the spot and I didn't look at the ingredients, so I should've figured). We took our leftovers home (which amounted to the size of one pizza). My mom and I also had the FoMu ice cream they also provide--she ordered the chocolate pudding ice cream and I ordered the peanut butter. They were okay; my ice cream had some frost on it and the strong coconut taste paired with the mild peanut butter taste wasn't amazing but not bad. The "small" size was, like, bigger than my curled fist. They're really generous. I wish they had silverware and not disposable cutlery. Veggie Crust came highly recommended by a vegetarian friend of mine who frequents this spot. I'm not a vegetarian but I have a circle of friends who are and have gotten used being taken to amazing vegetarian places, so I knew I would enjoy this place. I ordered a side of zucchini sticks which were breaded perfectly and a medium white spinach feta pizza. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had and I ate the entire thing to prove it. The dough is so chewy! My friend got a slightly customized garden vegetable pizza since she can't eat certain things due to religious reasons. Veggie Crust is truly a neighborhood gem! My friend and I were having a lazy night in playing Sims and watching Netflix movies and decided to order in some food (clearly not in the cards to go out on such a cold night) I had heard about Veggie Crust from a lot of my Tufts friends who were big fans of the wide variety of fresh pizzas offered and the vegan options. My friend and I split a large pizza, half Garden Veggie and half Broccoli Spinach Feta and we both agreed that it was delicious and - unlike most delivery pizza - didn't make us feel disgusting afterwards. Plenty of energy to devote to our riveting Sims game. As for size, I'd say 2 people can split a large (~$20) and be very happily full. Great price value for what you're getting! Stopped here on our way to Maine after spending WAY too long researching vegan stops between the Coast Guard Academy and Maine and settling on Veggie Crust. We came in at just the right time, as we were served immediately and had a nice table. We ordered a Margarita pizza for the kids, and a vegan BBQ one for us, plus vegan Bolognese penne pasta to share. First, the pasta...wow! I don't know if I've had a better vegan pasta dish in my life; seriously. The sauce was an 11/10, the pasta was perfectly al dente. There were two garlic bread slices covered in vegan cheese that accompanied the pasta, and they were wonderfully prepared. The pizza was good, but not the best we've had. I'm a fan of thick crusts, and this was more of the thin NY style variety. Good, but not my favorite. The soy meat on the pizza was great, though, and the overall palate appeal was on point. Prices were extremely reasonable overall. The place exploded with traffic once we had our food ordered, many of which seemed to be locals that meandered from the local neighborhood. Great new restaurant, happy to leave the first review for it! Veggie Crust is the first all vegetarian/vegan pizza place in the Boston area since Peace O Pie closed many years ago. A few other places have sprung up since then offering some vegan options, but they all are primarily meat focused and none offer anywhere near the options of Veggie Crust. I got the "Soy Meat Barbeque" pizza, which was like a classic BBQ type pizza. The Soy Meat was little soy chunks, nothing too crazy on its own but perfectly set up to combine with the BBQ sauce, cheese and crust. Speaking of the crust, it's made in-house and is one of the better crusts I've had in Boston lately - thin and not too charred or too crispy (I know some people love that around here, but I'm not personally a fan). The pizza sizes are pretty large, a Medium would maybe be good for two less hungry people, but I managed to polish one off on my own because I am a horrible human being. Most people would do well splitting a Large though. Aside from Pizza, Veggie Crust also has a nice selection of fresh fruit drinks. I tried the "Green Day", which is green apple, cucumber, agave, celery, kale, lime, green grapes and sea salt. Absolutely delicious, and it seemed to disappear in about half a second despite the more than fair portion size (it was that good!). Finally, though I was beyond stuffed, I had to try the in-house vegan ice cream The Chocolate Coconut was pretty good - honestly, vegan ice creams are not my forte, and this tasted a bit more like sorbet to me, but it was definitely decent. Also, I appreciate the fact that they make it in-house and don't just bring in Fomu like other places, but I'm not going to lie and say I was blown away. Counter service was super fast and friendly, everybody working there was all smiles and inquiring about how everyone liked the food, explaining ingredients and discussing things with the customers. Exactly what you hope to see on opening day. One last thing to mention which makes Veggie Crust really stand out: there's a selection of Indian influenced pizzas and ingredients: Paneer Tikka BBQ, Gobhi (Cauliflower) Manchurian, Paneer Manchurian, etc. I've been waiting for this as I remember having a Paneer Masala pizza in the restaurant next door a long time ago, and haven't been able to find anything comparable since then. A few local Indian places do naan bread pizzas, but it's just not the same. It's really cool to be able to get something a little different and flavorful than typical pizza ingredients. In addition to all this, they deliver within a 2 mile range, which means a large portion of Somerville & Cambridge. I can't wait to order from them again, and really hope this place does well and sticks around . Veggie Crust is a cozy, Indian-inspired pizzeria with friendly service and many specialty pies. My favorite pizza is the Coconut Corn. Topped with fresh corn and fresh basil, it has a coconut alfredo base that (thankfully) does not taste coconutty. Yum. I went once with a friend and she got the Cauliflower Manchurian, which we both liked a lot. The crust is definitely on the doughy side. I prefer crispy pizza so I always ask them to make the pizza well done and this usually does the trick. For easy parking, go to Bow Street. The marinara pizza sauce is also delicious (I always get extra sauce on my pizzas). I got vegan cheese (seems to be daiya), roasted eggplant and roasted peppers on mine. It was delicious. I wouldve preferred fresh green peppers on my pizza but that was not an option. Check the menu to see the topping options. I believe this place is run by the same people as Dosa N Curry so you have some Indian topping options such as paneer. They have some other menu items too such as pasta dishes.
