Couldn't comment on the service and ambiance since I wasn't there during the purchase. My family thought the donuts were good overall but my light filled donut was a disappointment. Value wise between $3-4 each it was reasonable. I'm hoping the inconsistency with my donut is only a small blip so I'm giving this shop the benefit of the doubt. Nothing 'gourmet' about them in comparison to say today's current popular brioche donuts. My go to still today, after piling on 50lbs from donuts over the last few years, is the Honey Dip! I try & get my order when it's hot out of the oven or rather out of the hot oil bath. Although small in size, this is a swanky location & presents well to the eyes. Lee's Donuts began on popular Granville Island back in 1979 & today has expanded via the current 8 locations all over town. There's various flavours available as well as seasonal donuts. The donut itself is soft and fluffy, the filling is nice and creamy, and the crackly caramelized sugar on top gives you that classic crème brûlée experience. It feels like there's room to be a bit more creative with the menu. One other thing was how quickly they "sell out." Maybe they genuinely do, but it almost feels like they simply make a very limited quantity each day to create that sense of demand. The location also doesn't do them any favours. Parking is difficult, it's right along a busy road, and it's not exactly the kind of place you casually stop at. Although I didn't like this doughnut, I could tell it was freshly baked and I would return to try their other flavours. There was only 1 woman working in the cafe and she was so friendly. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and seating is comfortable. I went early on a weekday morning so I was able to find street parking, however finding parking could be challenging, especially on the weekend.

An update to my last year's DL review…read more I have been coming here on a monthly basis. Service has improved drastically since my last review. (No more difficult service folks.) Having their hot cocoa special, cocoa was not too sweet. Toffee flavoured accompanying donut has an interesting flavour. As always, DL keeps inventing every month. Amazing, much appreciated. Keep up the good work!
