For years, I have driven by this business and thought "wow, that looks like a cool spot from a bougie neighborhood right out here in the middle of an industrial area where there is no foot traffic or possibility of selling what seems to be for sale" What? The location is for the manufacturing of fancy popsicles and ice cream pints that are shipped out to business and farmers markets. However, if you stop by, you can also buy the goods. Delicious little ice cream bar spot! I got this ice cream after eating at IL Saggio across the street with some of my friends. I got a strawberry flavor which was amaze. I even went back to go get some more to go for my other coworkers. They have lots of flavors, and even vegan flavors. They also distribute in supermarkets, but seeing the store was nice. This place failed me but not because it's vegan. I got two popsicles. One dairy and one vegan. Each one was $4.95. A bit much. Whatever. As long as it's worth it. But it wasn't. Both my popsicles were super hard lol couldn't bite it till it started to melt a bit. The box or "description" didn't match. My "rocky road" popsicle had one nut. And one marshmallow. You can add drizzles of syrup (I think free) and toppings for an extra charge ($.25 each), but for my first visit (9/21/18) I opted to try the pistachio bar ($3.50) all by itself. Chef Brandon Choi became enamored with gelato and decided to spend years in Italy to learn the craft. This is one passionate person. He starts his business upon returning home. He opens up shop in Pasadena, but recently moved to Commerce so that he can expand his wholesale and catering business. He can be found in in a non-descript area minutes away from the Citadel Outlets. The store is brightly lit and super colorful. He has traditional gelato and sorbetto and he also has them in popsicle form on sticks. He'll even drizzle, dip, and top the popsicles a la PopBar if you wish. I'm a traditionalist. I need my gelato in a cup with my tiny little plastic shovel-spoon. He's more than happy to talk to you about his product. We discussed his training in Italy and about ice cream making at home. He was super nice. His flavors are also very good. His roasted hazelnut was fantastic. I also enjoyed his pistachio. My brother really liked his Nutella-inspired mix. My cowoorker and i stopped by this place and we had the pleasure of being greeted by Stephanie who gave us samples of just about every gelato (with a smile on her face unlike other places who are not so friendly when you ask for samples). After trying all of them, i decided to buy a pint of the following: pistachio, espresso, peanut butter chocolate, and mint chocolate chip. And it was very reasonably priced because i paid a little over $35 for 4 pints! (I really liked the strawberry one too). The gelato was SUPER fresh and tasty! This place is near my work and I always see it when I pass by. I'm a big lover of ice cream and the ice cream cone statue outside caught my attention. It has a small parking lot and the store is tiny with only a few bar stools to sit down to enjoy the ice cream. The day I went with my coworker it was empty, so the server was able to dedicate time to us. He was friendly and answered all our questions. You can taste test a few samples and they have ice cream and bars. There are many flavors available like cookies n cream, vanilla, chocolate chip, salted caramel, mango, strawberry, and hazelnut. You can order in a waffle cone or cups. The small cup is super tiny, and I love ice cream, so I thought it wasn't going to be enough. The medium size is a good portion and you can get 2 flavors. I ordered the chocolate chip and the gelato is smooth and creamy. It didn't taste bland or hard it was soft, and it melted perfectly with each bite.
