I stopped by Vega Shawarma after doing a little research on the menu beforehand, and I decided the chicken shawarma wrap was the move. From the moment I walked in, the experience was excellent. The gentleman who greeted me, who looked to be the chef, took the time to thoroughly explain everything that went into the wrap and described the flavors of each ingredient. Very professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The wrap was prepared in less than five minutes, and I decided to dine in. The restaurant was clean, the cups and napkins were stocked and tidy, and they even had fresh ice water available that didn't come from a machine. While waiting, I checked out some of the other items they carry, including a locally made kombucha that I'll definitely be trying next time. Now for the food itself -- absolutely incredible. The chicken shawarma wrap was packed with flavor, juicy, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every bite tasted intentional and high quality. This is one of those places where the quality honestly exceeds the price you're paying. The Chicken Shawarma was simply amazing. As soon as I unwrapped my shawarma my nose was kissed by the aroma of the food ingredients. The food items selected to make the shawarma made it the perfect shawarma. I left with a sense of happiness after eating a tasty, yet healthy meal. I requested sauce on the side, however it wasn't necessary to add sauce because I was highly pleased without it. I went here on a weekday and it was empty so I decided to eat inside. The space is beautiful. I love the archway that leads to the bathrooms and the tile on the walls as well as the light fixtures. The bathrooms were clean and seem to be serviced often. The menu has the perfect amount of options on it. They have rotating spits with the meat for your shawarma being shaved off when you order. I ordered a chicken shawarma (it's thigh which I usually hate but wasn't a big deal for me here). It comes with fresh and pickled vegetables as well as a sauce. The toppings were fresh and delicious. I do wish the meat was salted or seasoned. I also ordered za'atar fries which I loved. And I had enough food to eat the shawarma twice. I got a separate order of the kabees. I enjoyed the pickled cauliflower. The pistachio butter crunch brownie seems their take on the Dubai chocolate bar and wasn't super sweet which I could appreciate. The texture was interesting. Nice fresh middle eastern food with cool vibes inside and great hospitality from the staff. We went on a hot Saturday and the cool AC lured us inside the herby air of Vega Shawarma. We went with the Chicken Schawarma, Lamb Ayres, fries, and baklava. The chicken shawarma was huge and filled with fresh as well as pickled veggies and plentiful chicken. The lamb ayres was smaller but packed with meat with the pickled veggies and sauce on the side. The fries were amazing and seasoned with lots of flavor. We saved the baklava for home and enjoyed the later on as we were full from our mains. It was delicious with pistachios and honey. The staff was all super nice and gave great recommendations. I'm a big fan of Lyra, so I knew I'd love this place. We went pretty early and they were already busy. I had the chicken shawarma and one of their house made sodas. Everything was SO fresh and full of flavor. The hibiscus spiced soda was perfectly balanced (slightly sweet and just so many different flavors packed into it). Rode by and seen this place, so I decided to give it a try. I must say I was highly disappointed and expected better. The beef felt like it turned to mush when I bit into the wrap. The flavor wasn't really there and out of the various of other establishments similar to this, they didn't taste like this. I hate to say it seems like I wasted money. The toppings: What arab country that have a shawarma restaurant that put tomato's and cucumbers in their sandwiches???????? LIKE I GENUINELY AM ASKING. I AM ARAB! I have had shawarma in the middle east more than water. 3. The meats: The beef/lamb was more chewy than gum. And no flavor. Thick ass slices, absolutely not ok. Chicken had no taste/flavor either! Below average overall, makes me sad. 4. The sides: The fries were wayyyy too oily, the concept of zaatar was great, but i clogged a few arteries! The falafel did not have tahini on the side. He looked at me like, "No, we have everything." I told him, "Man, I would've come in here months ago if I knew that." I wasn't being rude, just real. I've got a degree in business administration, but honestly, you don't need one to spot when a branding decision might be costing you foot traffic. Flavor-wise? Solid. Meat was seasoned well, rice was fluffy, everything was fresh. But portion-wise? A little underwhelming, especially for the $19 price tag. I read some of the bad reviews (to each their own) and they 100% expected this to be whipped gyro meat served with hot sauce and store bought taziki. This is not that. We have enough gyro places in town (rip king Solomons). Vega is true shawarma, Lebanese style. Food came out quickly and the staff was great. First time i came i got a chicken shawarma sandwich that had the toum on it and it was a bit intense. I've been back twice now and i get it without the toum and i get a side of green tahini sauce and it's absolutely delicious. I find their deserts are always good and the house made sodas are so refreshing! It's not authentic by any means but it's light and healthy and i find i can finagle the items to suit me better if i wish to do so. If they had delivery id be ordering it all the time. Wow! We are vegetarian so we started with the house made hummus with fresh pita warm from the oven. Wonderful. Falafel was authentic with sumac onions and tahini. Great.
