Suddenly out of nowhere, my account is deactivated, my credits lost and an email indicating the company was not sold, but upgraded to a better experience. which required re-registration. The menu changed (not for the better), the prices increased, shipping costs were added, quality declined and customer service was non existent. I cancelled after learning that, regardless of their posture that the company was not sold, it was in fact acquired by a sub-standard provider called Territory Foods. Man. Beyond disappointed with this one.. I was super jazzed to find a vegan meal delivery as I am lazy when it comes to cooking and like to eat healthy. The food from this place is pretty good. A few meals were "eh", but several were delicious. The problem is the packaging/shipping. My second shipment of meals arrived in a soggy cardboard box, all warm and leaked everywhere. It appears as though this company cheaps out on dry ice because they barely use any. I called customer service and was told they would send out the meals again and that they would arrive the next week. Was told I'd get tracking info so I could be ready for its arrival, but I arrived home with a surprise box on my doorstep instead. One of the meals in this shipment was ripped open and it's contents all over the place. I looked up reviews of this place to see if others were experiencing the same issues, and apparently this has been a problem for years. I would be a weekly customer if they were reliable, but since 2/3 deliveries have been a hot mess (literally), I'll be finding a different service to buy from. read more

My first thought about Veestro is that it's a good service during a time when we are not comfortable leaving the house to enjoy a meal prepared by someone else. Their meals are plant based and partially organic.The cost is $330 for 30 meals, that's $11 each for the one serving. But they say you can get some discounts, like $10 off your next order for every $200 you spend, 10% off for subscription and every 4th order is 50% off(picture included). The BBQ Chick N' Pizza was flavorful, nice texture and enough to share with my spouse. The Southwest BBQ Chick 'N, Savory Croquettes and Country Fried Chick'N were also good. By now I've realized that they don't serve enough vegetables considering these are mostly for Vegans, Vegetarians and Plant Based people. I could add some, but if I wanted to go out to shop for vegetables, I wouldn't be buying frozen meals over the internet. The Spanish Torte, Turkish Meatballs and Breakfast Burrito were dissapointing. My favorite is the Lentil Meatloaf with gravy and California blend vegetables. Many of their meals get more than 1/3 of their calories from fat. If you are on a low-fat diet, read the nutritional values. After starting a subscription with Veestro, there was some confusion about their bonus, which still shows on my account page. I emailed Veestro asking about their offer saying "Every 4th Subscription order will automatically get 50% off"(picture included). They replied, "Our 50% off your 5th order promotion began in March. The discount will automatically be applied on your 5th order. You have one order so far." When I again questioned the fact that their offer was "Every 4th Subscription order will automatically get 50% off" they replied, "You have one order in March. The system doesnt count the 1st order they place. But on the 4th one after that they will get the discount." Because of their special offer and their responses to why they won't honor it, I am not satisfied with how this company works. The prices are just too high for what you get. It's a one serving frozen meal with no way to alter it and hit-or-miss flavor. We have still been hungry after eating some of these meals, satiated after others. Steer clear! I signed up for delivery every 4 weeks, but they sent a second delivery only one week after the first (with no notification before it was shipped). Scariest part is that I cannot reach their customer service. No one answers the telephone number. I've only had one meal so far, but each item cooked at a different rate.. so the rice turned to mush but the curry still had ice in it.. and the paper container started to collapse. Also, when the plastic film was pulled off, it look the paper container with it and bits fell into the food. Not good. Overall, I do not recommend this company. It sucks because I am vegetarian, but I've tried many other similar companies and they are way better, and far less expensive. Update: They claim that I was on a two-week subscription and had a bizarre explanation about billing dates, delivery dates, etc. But common sense tells you that no one should be getting boxes six days apart unless they wanted a weekly plan. There's a lot to love about Veestro. I got my first order the other day and after reading reviews here, I didn't know what to expect, but it arrived perfectly in tact with the food frozen, no issues whatsoever. I've had three of the meals so far and all have been great. I've needed to add salt to each of them, but I prefer to decide how much salt I want anyway, so no problem there. I love that you can select your own meals before each delivery, and that they have actual variety (other services I've used started to feel like variations of the same thing after a while). No funky tastes, and the good actually tastes good. They notify you via email before your next delivery is going out so you can make changes, but I wish there was clearer communication on their website about when the meals are shipped each week, when your deadline is to make adjustments, etc. After I ordered I had no updates about the food coming and sat around wondering for days until I was suddenly notified it had shipped and would arrive the next day. Another issue is that the portion sizes aren't super filling for me. Maybe I just eat too much but of the three meals I've eaten so far, two of them were for one dinner, and the other was for lunch the next day and left me hungry and snacking. Given this, the price per meal is high. I was, ngl, eating like crap for weeks before I signed up for veestro... I had just moved back to LA and in my completely overwhelmed state was just ordering takeout / delivery for every meal. It was expensive and unhealthy, which prompted me to sign up for this service to try to get my act together. It's better quality food but I'm ultimately still just paying for convenience, as the cost per meal after doubling up the portions isn't that much cheaper than having a Caesar salad delivered from veggie grill. Anyway I like veestro so far and will stick with it for a while longer to see if I still do after some time. I did this service for 2 weeks and ended up canceling because the food just wasn't good. For the most part all the dishes were just mush, with a startling lack of veggies. The Shepherdless pie was just mush, with no texture at all. Same for the enchilada casserole. First delivery: My first delivery was a bit of a disaster; food was all over the place, half the meals were open, and box was covered in sauce. They were nice about and sent another box over. Second delivery: The second delivery was much better, however, this time I was able to taste their food. I'm the type of person that likes to try all sorts of things. I started trying these meals out and some were subpar while others were inedible. As mentioned in the first sentence, some of these meals tasted like pure cardboard. Sigh. I wish I could give 0 stars. So I placed my order on Wednesday, 7/8/2020 and my scheduled delivery was for Friday, 7/10. However, it wasn't delivered until Tuesday,7/14. So my food was sitting on a hot Fedex truck for 6 days and they still delivered it even though I cancelled it. I contacted customer service and they apologized and refunded my money but insisted that I allow them to deliver my order 'on them'. So as someone who does not exclusively eat vegan, I can say that for anyone who wants to try to get on the bandwagon or looking for a delivery service that makes food that basically appeals to someone with traditionally non-vegan tastes, Veestro is a pretty good bet. I've ordered large shipments about three times ($199 plus + free shipping), and consistency has remained the same for the most part. The juices are all enjoyable. Soups are filling because of the ingredients, but a small portion. You would need to supplement it yourself with a slice of bread or a sandwich. One complaint is that there definitely is not enough veggies per dish. I found myself having to add a ton more veggies in order to round out the meal properly. What chunks of veggies that were there were small. Luckily I've never had to email or call customer service as my deliveries have always been on time as estimated, and the packaging was secure. I always received the correct amount of items. I look forward to ordering this service more in the future when I have more freezer space. Its a great option to have after a long day and you don't want to cook or you want a snack without feeling disgusting and bloated after. I ordered a few of their meals, and like some of them. Others, not so much. Also, they are pretty high in calories. The chik'n fried steak is good, although the gravy is a little grainy and broken. I am sitting here eating the cauliflower milanese, which just isn't cutting it as the cauliflower is super-hard and unseasoned. The breading is good, but not good enough to buy the meal again. The lentil meatloaf is really mushy, so I would not recommend that meal. The pasta bolognese was fairly good, although a little spicy for my taste. I loved all the desserts but can't live on those. My biggest issues are the side veggies and required multiple shipment for weekly meals I'm not impressed with the sides, so I think the company would be better served putting more effort into the main entrees and letting the consumer add veggies and such. I ordered a la carte as I'm not willing to commit to repeat shipments. It is also more expensive than other vegan food delivery companies but a substantial amount, and the other companies I've tried have much better food. Shocked at the abundance of stars. Shocked at the disappointment that arrived in a cooler. I ordered a starter/variety pack (10-15 items) a while back and upon finishing the last meal today, couldn't help but feel like my palate had been tricked. The Thai Noodle dish (among others) I'd sampled tasted amazing, impressive. That same, dare I call it that, Thai Noodle meal that I ate months later, a far cry. I had been working a ton, getting home late many evenings and thought this could help me on nights I hadn't gone grocery shopping or was too wiped to cook. Meals, sauces, soups and cookies arrived in vacuum sealed pouches or plastic trays. Each with instructions on a sticker on the package. Some had both microwave and conventional oven instructions. Some only offered one option. Not a single item had even remotely close or reasonable instructions. Most took much longer to cook. And plastic trays?!? Anyone that gives a damn about their health nowadays doesn't microwave in plastic. Aside from worthless heating instructions, some ingredient lists failed to mention certain ingredients, often leaving out the sauce in its entirety (sauce usually came in its own pouch with the meal). No ingredients or heating instructions for most sauces. While the two soups (tortilla and squash) were both quite delicious, the meals and sauces were bland, watery, and flat-out disappointing. The only thing I have left are cookies - three in one pack. I haven't eaten them yet because I really only want one cookie at a time. I don't know if I should defrost on the counter, in the fridge, microwave...? Or do they need more baking? I'm leaving two stars because its a vegan meal delivery service that requires no prep (just microwave or oven) which is exactly what I was looking for... Maybe I'm disappointed because I had such high hopes. I'm only leaving two stars because the food is so bad I end up tossing most of it. My typical meal these days consists of begrudgingly heating up what looks like prison food, forcing myself to chew/swallow/repeat, and then eventually giving up and buying something else because I cannot choke down the food. I spent well over $200 for a two week subscription of three meals a day for 5 days per week. And I end up buying more food on top of it because I can't do the Veestro meal. What a waste. It looks nothing like the pictures they show. It is microwaved mush. I thought a vegan meal delivery service would be chock full of fresh fruit, nuts, veggies; giving that fresh whole foods eating feel. Not the case here. It feels very processed and soy. Also, if you do not like vegan cheese (does anybody?) do not get. My favorite vegan meals are the ones that do not try to replicate cheese, but just leave cheese out entirely. Normally I wouldn't fault a company for not complying with such a specific personal preference, except I know a TON of plant based eaters who feel the same. Vegan cheese just has a long way to go... The food is just ok. I think it tastes good, but in the same way lean cuisine tastes good. I probably wouldn't eat this over a fresh made meal. It's also sort of frustrating that most of the meals I got didn't have any microwave instructions -- only instructions for conventional oven. I ordered these so that I could have a quick snack. Since I have to wait 7 minutes for the oven to preheat + 15 minutes to actually heat the food, I'd just as soon make a regular meal. 6+ years ago I wrote a four-star review about Veestro in which I talked about the delicious food, the great Customer Service, and the iffy shipping. I'm writing a new review as an update. The food is still utterly delicious. Very good quality and a wide variety. Wait for one of their frequent specials and the cost is very reasonable. The food is five-star all the way. The customer service is now completely non-responsive. I don't think this is because of covid because I had noticed it getting worse and worse over time. I'm writing this review mainly to discuss the shipping. After all this time Veestro has still not figured out how to ship in hot weather, and they have recently, disastrously, changed their packing materials. It does no good to buy frozen food, no matter how delicious, if it arrives defrosted, warm, and a complete mess all over the box because of all the broken food containers. The food is no longer secured within the box, so it just bounces around breaking and spilling. Very, very little dry ice is packed so what arrives is a soaking wet, dissolving, flimsy cardboard box containing warm food. The wet, torn "insulation" arrives falling apart with little pieces of fuzz flying everywhere, and it is too big for the recycling bin. Between that crap and the soaked cardboard shipping container, it took more than one hour for me to clean my kitchen after unpacking whatever food I could salvage. My last two orders arrived this way. Way to ruin an excellent product, Veestro. BTW, thevegangarden.com has really good food too, and the shipping is terrific. SO FRUSTRATING! They don't disclose how much you will be charged for your next auto-shipment! How crazy is that?! I've eaten 10 meals and have a different 10 on-order. So far, they're OK, nothing great. Frozen entrees (whether my homemade recipes or store-bought) are the backbone of my eating. While the majority of Veestro meals are comparable to store-bought like Amy's, Veestro does have a few healthier options based on sodium, sugar, fiber content, and organic aspect, and I don't see any ingredients not found in my kitchen. Their website and order process though is so very frustrating. The button to view your Rewards history still doesn't work, nor does the Redeem button. Customer Svc. wrote that if you have a subscription, you cannot use your Rewards by yourself, somehow you have to get them involved. I'm still waiting to hear about how that is supposed to work. While there's a sentence that says my next order payment will process next week, there's no where that it let's me see how much they are charging me for the order, or when it will ship! Overall, I am really glad this healthy option is available. The meals I chose seem to be modest in sodium. I like how the nutritional information also tells how many grams the total meal is, so you can choose based on portion. One tip is if you are heating any of the more fluid meals in the original container and following the instruction of opening a corner, open a corner away from the stew as it tends to boil over during heating. The stew side has extra glue down to alleviate that, so first time I tore that side open and it leaked. read more

Awful. I bought the 10-meal package, not realizing that all the food comes frozen. One of the reasons I choose Veestro was because they offered salads. Yes, it's my own fault that I didn't read their website closer because frozen salad = disgusting. Of the 10 meals, three arrived with the plastic covering loose with food spilling out into the delivery box. I had to throw those away in these COVID-19 times we're living in. Of the 7 remaining, I've tried three - one was so bad I spit out the first bite I took; one was so mushy, I could only get through about half of it; the other was a 5/10. Their meals may be good, but their customer service and delivery service is just plain awful. I am a pilot so I travel all the time for work. It has become increasingly difficult to eat healthy on the road, so I turned to Veestro. Boy, was I in for a major headache. I ordered from this company and they managed to screw up delivery times, not once- but twice. When I thought I had a delivery coming, it wasn't there. I was told that it was coming a week later. When you order Monday - Sunday, it is said to be shipped out the following Monday. I ordered for these two deliveries on two separate Sundays. They didn't ship on Monday, but they shipped the following week. I was basically charged 2 weeks in advance for a product that shouldn't be charged until shipment. I have been asked by many friends in my industry how I feel about this company. I cannot endorse their product. Especially when they have an incompetent manager running their customer service department (Monica). If you're still looking for a meal prep service that offers vegan options, I can recommend Snap Kitchen. These guys are a fraud and entirely business incompetent in the 2017 marketplace.
