I was stranded at home with my 2004 BMW parked on the street across town since it stopped running smoothly. I thought I may have needed to have the engine replaced for thousands of dollars. Matt, the owner, picked me up at home, took me to the car, ran the codes, and figured out the issue was a loose air intake duct. He tightened that and my car was good to go! Matt is an absolute angel!! The steep pitch of the Ichiban exit (yes I was driving at a normal speed and yes others have had the same trouble! - but no, the restaurant hasn't fixed it ) caused my car to bottom out and knocked my bumper RIGHT OFF!! We heard a bang and a scrape so immediately pulled over in to the first parking lot, which happened to be Vaughn's Automotive. We called the 24 hour emergency number and Matt came right over to help us! He patched us back together so we could safely drive until we can get a more full repair. He was competent, he was kind, he was helpful, and he was funny ... he took a bad situation and made it as good as we could've hoped for. This is a great and honest and kind man! These guys are the best! Went to dealership to have exhasut system checked. They wanted $5,200 to fix. Mr Muffler did the job for $1,500. Great staff, very responsive and thorough. I also had another need for a medal sculpture that needed attention. It had been damaged in a move. Matt agreed to take a look. I thought it needed a welder. He and his team were more creative and able to fix the problem. I really like these guys and highly recommend them. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. I was taking my daily driver (I think it was my Toyota Highlander) here for all my maintenance and repairs and was happy with the sservice.Then I brought them my 1973 Volkswagen Thing for a check-over. I was concerned the engine was mounted in it correctly (I thought a bracket had broken) and then I asked what oil to use, because it was using a lot of oil, so I was adding it myself from time to time. They suggested a regular weight, like 10w30. I knew that couldn't be right. This is an air-cooled engine, no radiator, so a regular weight wouldn't stand up to the engine temps. I did my own research online and never went back. That advice would have ruined my car. They were great, reasonable and worked with me on what was needed or what could wait on my Toyota, but I was very disappointed in the advice on my VW...he should have said he didn't know if he didn't know. read more

I was visiting my daughter at the University of Dubuque and she was having a car issue after only having the CR-V on campus for a few weeks.....we dropped it off on Wednesday and explained we will only be in town one day and are helping our daughter. ..they diagnosed the issue (rotors) , replaced them, and had it finished before our checkout time the next day....great service and price. Our experience with Vaughn's began with a request to repair the climate control functions of our Volvo S80. When we brought the car in we stated that the air conditioning would work on a random basis and the interior fan would not stop blowing. I also explained that if repairs exceeded $500 we were going to trade the car. They replaced multiple parts on the vehicle at their discretion. On 4 different occasions we were told the car was complete however each time the functions did not work properly.
