I went in to have them change my coolant, and they insisted that I needed new tires, because I had less than an inch of tread (or whatever their exact measurement was). After I refused to get new tires, they left me with 15 PSI, so that my tires would go bad if I didn't check them as often as I do. read more

Took my car about 2 months ago for their $10 car inspection, was told i needed new tire rod ends was quoted $800. I then went to Meineke car care center (They btw are more trustworth) I was told by Meineke and Midas that my car and suspension system is very good. Fireston messed up my vehicle causing an additional 1300 in repairs. Two service advisors were present when information was relayed and now the manager is denying it. I always gave this place great reviews and ignored everyone that said bad things but now I see what others are talking about. Terrible customer service and accountability. Once again, lowsy service. I dropped a tire off for repair at 9:45 am. I later realized I was due for an oil change, so I Called to make an oil change appointment, they dont answer so it goes on to a scheduling agency, Booked an oil change for 2pm.. I got there at 1:45, My repaired tire was leaning against the counter, I mentioned I had a 2:00 appointment and would like the tire put on my vehicle and the spare back underneath I was told there was going to be a wait, because I should not book appointments online? WTH? This is a work vehicle, I drive 60,000 miles/year. so lots of oil changes and tire services.. This was the last time I will utilize Firestone in Dubuque. It is pretty bad when the dealership is more affordable and gives better service. I only used Firestone because they have longer hours and can schedule stuff for weekends if necessary. I took my repaired tire, will put it back on the vehicle myself and plan to never use this place again. This was not my 1st disappointing visit to Firestone, but it should definitely be my last I wish less than 1 star was an option! read more

Booked a 10am appointment for 10-27-2023 and appointment was confirmed and told me it would be an hour wait and then they took someone else's car back for service before mine despite them not having an appointment and arriving nearly 20 minutes after I did will not be returning to this location ever again for service on my car as this is unacceptable service read more

This is the 2nd review I have ever written, with the 1st being yesterday with a 5-star rating for the towing company's amazing customer when I needed a spare put on. I feel equally as strong about this review, but for their TERRIBLE service. Once I got to Dubuque, I needed a new tire and headed here based on the generally very good reviews...HUGE mistake!!! For some background: Im a small, young, preschool teacher and single mom who clearly knows very little about cars, and I have never been to Dubuque before. When I came in, I was the only one in the lobby, and was "greeted" like I was a bother. They had me wait while the mechanic looked at it - during this wait I unintentionally learned all of the details of the employees issues with CPS and child custody (it's a huge, silent, echoey room). Then they informed me that the cheapest tire they could give me was $200, and I needed them ALL replaced or at the very least 2 of them. On top of that, I also needed new wipers, serpentine belt and a new head gasket! Luckily I had my car serviced 2 days prior and knew that NONE of these things were immediately necessary. I clarified, "would any of these things have been damaged when my tire blew? [no] I just had my car serviced and all of those things are fine." I agreed to the 2 tires, because I was in a pinch, and sat down. Within a minute, he informs me that he accidentally had the wrong size and he can actually offer them with $100 off for all 4 tires for just $80 more than the 2. (Generally I believe the best in people but since everything else seemed calculated, I assumed he purposefully deceived me on the price). If I have no other option and am out $500 anyways, I may as well have a whole new set, so I say agree. While I wait, I observe a handful of middle to retired-aged men walk in to get minor services on their brand new vehicles. The difference in service was ASTOUNDING - they talked to them like old friends, didn't try to up-sell them a single item, and the man who I worked with even insisted on giving one of them a ride to a local restaurant while he waited. Meanwhile I have had a long 24+ hours, minimal sleep, and have a very strict budget....but I am a young woman - I definitely felt typecast, undervalued and taken advantage of due to my vulnerable position. All of this to say, I would NEVER recommend them to anyone....except perhaps to an older, white male. read more

My boyfriend and I were in town for a family party, and we ran over a nail 2 miles from the party. We explained our circumstances to the guy working, and they were nice enough to get the tire replaced in 30 minutes. Amazing customer service! read more

I would recommend this location to anyone! I go through them for not only my personal vehicle needs, but also business. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. I never have any problems. In fact, I always feel like they go above and beyond to take care of my vehicle. And they aways try to find the best deal for the service I am looking for. SECOND UPDATE! We're so near the end of this saga! After the last update, I got another apologetic email from McKenzie, and finally spoke with the area manager, Ben, who was at pains to set everything right. He explained to me (without trying to excuse anything or defend his company to the death) what had gone on, he asked how he could make things right, and he looked at it as an opportunity for improving service. Here's what I really liked: he didn't throw his guys under the bus, either, but recognized that more training in the non-wrench stuff (communication, curveball customer service) was necessary. Given the amount of time I had to spend chasing down the part and making that part of things go, and the fact that the delay stranded me for an extra night in a hotel, I asked him to refund the labor charge, which he agreed to, no problem at all. So here's to Firestone, and I hope everything goes more smoothly for them now. In this silly rating system, I've bumped them from one to three stars: was it fun, no, but pretty much everybody was nice and we've got things straightened out. ------------ First Update from the last review, which is currently in the grays. The weirdest part so far is that after a lot of "we're so sorry, we're here to straighten this out" from Firestone's social media team (see reply to non-recommended review below), everything just went dark. No reply at all. An area manager was supposed to have contacted me two days ago, and so far nothing; Firestone's social media person (McKenzie I.?) doesn't respond when I email her and ask what's up (which her message to me asked me to do if the issue's not been taken care of). Well, nice social media show, guys, but so far it doesn't seem to be backed by any of the auto-care people. As for the repair - my mechanic doesn't actually believe the three-month-old coolant tank blew, though I'm inclined to believe Firestone Alan. Whatever; the larger immediate problem is there's also a heater core leak, which Firestone missed, and which is why I drove home breathing coolant vapor. I'd kind of expected that there'd be a problem behind the problem (and if I had to put down money, which I no doubt will because it's my freaking car) I'd bet it's a very undramatic head-gasket issue overpressurizing the cooling system. Here's how my guy at home handled a customer-service issue, btw (you listening, Firestone?): Like I said, coolant tank was new, still under warranty, which I'd forgotten. My guy doesn't have the busted tank to return to the mfr., because Firestone swapped it out and I didn't think to ask them to give it to me. He's crediting me for it anyway, will take the price off the heater-core job. That issue took...about 45 seconds to resolve, standing there talking with him. Try, try again.... read more

I had to stop back after having an alignment done, after it was done incorrectly, and my car would veer to the left, and my steering was tilted to the right when it should be level after an alignment. I made an appt. a week earlier to have it redone. An hour and a 1/4 after my appt. it was still not started, and I had to leave as I had other commitments to get to. If they screw up, and then make you wait over an hour, and still don't start it, that's totally unacceptable. Sure once I complained they said I would be next. Very frustrated, as now I have to make ANOTHER appt. to waste my day read more

I go here twice a year to get my snow tires switched out. The service is generally fast, but wait time can vary quite a bit. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes for them to switch out my tires, but one time it took over two hours. The staff that interact with the customers often seem stressed out (I think they are understaffed), but they have always been friendly. Like most car shops, they tend to recommend extra repairs that you probably don't need. I always just tell them that I don't want an inspection, which greatly reduces wait time. read more

Scheduled an appointment over the weekend, we called to confirm, was told that there was no appointment booked. I figured we would give them another shot after a tire blew out in less than 30 days because of poor quality, the manager refused to cover the cost of the tire, we had to pay half of it. Do not take your vehicle here! I brought my vehicle here on 7/12 because of a grinding noise coming from the rear. They told me that my backing plate was bent and rubbing against my rotor. They also told me I had NO oil in my car. I told them not to do anything with the oil as I have a local mechanic back home that I go to and had just had an oil change two weeks ago. They went against what I said and told me they put enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan in it. On 7/15 I got my car to my local mechanic to get it checked over where the mechanic told me there was almost 3 quarts too much oil in my engine and that they could not see any indication of my backing plate ever being bent or rubbing on the rotor. Either these people have no idea what a backing plate is and what oil looks like or they were trying to damage my car thinking it would make me come back. Lesson Learned: never trust a well known company. read more

I made a 7am appointment to get some AC work done gave all the information as to the make and model of the car, I arrive for my appointment to have to wait as some guy walks in without an appointment and they go thru all his information, when it is my turn the guy asks me all the same information I gave the guy on the phone the day before then he tells me that they can't do the work on this make of car since they didn't have the right connections etc. I should have been told this when I made the appointment. Then he tells me for $49.99 he could check to see if there was a leak (which they couldn't fix anyway!!) don't go here they are understaffed and incompetent!! read more
