I went in for a diagnostic on my ford and I ended up getting another engine when saying they looked under the valve cover and looked at the cams and lobes went in another direction and didn't tell me I should have addressed the extremely bad lobe (the only one that was worn) that by the way was on the cylinder that was having the misfire. And without seeing any evidence or seeing any pictures the manager said that all of the lobes were worn. So Instead of spending maybe $3000 on cams and lobes I spent $10,000 on a new engine. 3 independent mechanics inspected later and said you put out fires as they come up and the lobe was the problem and should have been replaced instead of buying another engine. read more

I would like to share my experience I recently had with Varney's GMC in hopes this helps others avoid the same issue I had. Below is the timeline for the course of events I had earlier this year. 1/20/23 - Truck would not start. Varney advised me to have it towed in 1/23/23 - Varney's says I received contaminated fuel so they need to drain my fuel tank and flush my lines. 1/26/23 - I get my truck back from Varney's. 1/28/23 - My truck would not start. Varney's GMC advised me to have it towed in 2/1/23 - Varney's says that my starter broke and they needed to replace it. Said it was going to take 2 weeks to get a new starter. 2/24/23 - Starter was replaced. 3/4/23 - My truck would not start. Varney's advised me to have it towed in. 3/8/23 - Varney's says my fuse block for my starter blew. They replaced it and it still wasn't running correctly. So they determined that the fuel pump and all 6 injectors needed to be replaced due to contaminated fuel. Repair estimate $3900. 3/8/23 - I filed an insurance claim because Varney's told me that they could test the fuel pump and injectors for contaminated fuel. If they found contaminants in the fuel sample, my comprehensive auto insurance would cover the cost for the repairs. So I told Varney's to not do any repairs until a fuel sample was taken. . 3/24/23 - Fuel sample was taken under the direction of Varney's team. 1 sample from the original fuel taken out of my truck on 1/23/23 and another sample taken of the fuel tank itself. 4/8/23 - I receive the forensic fuel sample report showing that there are no contaminants in the 1/23/23 fuel sample and no contaminants in the current tank. 4/8/23 - I sent Varney's GMC a copy of the report. And request that since my fuel was not contaminated, they should cover the repairs under my warranty. Varney's refuses to cover the repairs under my warranty. Claiming that the fuel was contaminated. I asked for proof, and they did not have any proof. They never tested the fuel. 4/8/23 - I asked them to make the repairs anyway and I planned to deal with the warranty issue later. The closest appointment they could give me was 3 1/2 weeks later. I called Quirk Chevrolet of Bangor and they said they could look at it on 4/19/23. 4/18/23 - I had my truck towed from Varney's to Quirk. 4/19/23 - I called Quirk to make sure they got my truck in and also gave them the background for what had been going on with my truck. 4/25/23 - Quirk calls me and says that they replaced the fuse block for the starter again. And that the truck was running fine. I asked if I could come get it and they said they wanted to run some more tests to see why the fuse block was blowing. 5/10 - I reached out to Quirk telling them I would like to take my vehicle to Pratt's Chevrolet in Calais, ME for a 3rd opinion since Quirk could not find anything wrong with it. 5/12 - Go to Quirk to pick up my truck. They charge me $455.33 to replace the fuse block. Replace a fuse block that I never drove a mile from when it was replaced previously. Drive my truck to Pratts. Ran perfectly fine the whole way. 5/15 - Pratt calls me and says my truck is fixed. They had to replace a brake pad sensor for my rear right tire. 5/19 - Pratt gave me an offer to trade my truck in. So I did and bought a new truck from them. In summary, the only evidence that my fuel was contaminated was a forensic report saying it was not contaminated. 2 other dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my fuel pump or injectors. One dealership even bought my truck from me. The misdiagnosis cost my about $8000 in invoices and rental vehicles while I waited for Varneys to diagnose my truck and get 2nd and 3rd opinions on the fuel pump and injectors. All of which should have been covered under warranty. I never received a loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement the entire time. The service dept clearly does not know what they're doing if they are willing to replace parts that aren't even broken. Do not buy a vehicle from this dealership so you can avoid dealing with their service dept. read more

They are crooks, every time we go in we leave wanting to speak to a manage. Went in for a simple break job and they replaced the routers as well. Truck has 40,000 miles and they have replaced the front routers and break pads twice. We went in before the pads were bad so we wouldn't need routers and the cost and they did it without asking. Making our bill over $800.00 for a break pad job. More than frustrating to deal with service. read more

Went in and found a 2021 GMC Acadia SLT very low milage. I Know buyer beware but I was looking for a vehicle that could tow 4000 lbs and they stated it would. It had the factory installed towing hitch. Of course after I bought it and doing more research it will only tow 1000 lbs due to not having the V92 package which includes the tow/haul switch and the hd cooling. Yes I shouldn't have jumped on it and bought it without doing my full research but at some point you have to trust some people. If they knew their products better they should have told me that the option to tow 4000 lbs was not installed. I then wouldn't have bought it and gone with another car. read more

Don't go here for service!!! I was traveling and brought my truck in for service. I was told by Jeff Field in service, because it was a diesel they would not be able to look at it for at least three days! I would check in on it every day, they actually said don't call us will call you when it's ready. 16 days later I had it towed to a real GMC dealer that took it in that day, and solved my problem! read more

Over the weekend my car window was smashed out. Varney was the only place that could order a new window immediately, AND house my car for the rainy weekend (which would've soaked the car given the size of the window). Every interaction with Varney's was fantastic. Two names I remember were Jef and Justin. Excellent customer service, FAST repair. I am wholly pleased. Also I had a detailing done to clean up the broken glass inside. 150 which is a GREAT price, by Matt at precision detailing. 1 star is 1 too many for this dealership. **BEWARE VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE! We went in to buy a brand new truck, me and my husband. We were finally sitting down to sign the paperwork after more than two hours and be on our way with a brand new crew cab truck. My husband noticed some papers stapled on top of the ones he needed to sign, upon removing these "cover up" papers he noticed there was 6000. added onto the price of the truck?? We asked what this was and were told the truck was priced wrong. This was nothing more than a flat out lie, we asked why they didn't tell us before running all the paperwork and getting everything set up with the bank?? We got nothing, they flat out tried to add another 6000. onto the price of the truck. My husband tore up the papers and threw them on the sales mans desk and we left after some choice words to the manager. We didn't believe the story of it being priced wrong and knew it was a lie so we gave it about a week and drove back threw the lot to look at the truck and see if it was still priced the same AND IT WAS, we took photos of the truck and the sale papers/info/price and reported the incident to the BBB nd the local DA for further review. We have to wonder how often this happens and goes unnoticed by some people buying cars. read more

Very pleased with this dealership, from the sales dept to finance and also the service dept and the mechanic that worked on my truck. Tim Hogan was very prompt at getting back to me on the deal we were working out and did what he could to help me out. It was a very smooth process. The finance guy processed the paper work very quickly. I told him I had things to do in the afternoon and i think I was in and out in about 1 1/2 hrs. Now the service dept. loaned me a brand new truck while they swapped the plow over on mine. Very please with that. Was expecting something a bit beat up. When I called the next day to see if my truck was done they asked what time i got out of work and they made sure the truck was ready by the time I got there. The mechanic that worked on the plow swap went over what he had to do to swap it over and was very informative on the work he had done. Not only that but I received a call later in the day to make sure I had hooked the plow up and to see I there were any issues or if everything worked good( and it did ). I would rate them 6 stars if I could. Extremely pleased with the service. I wish I could remember the names of the all the other guys because they did a hell of a job and Varney GMC should thank them !!! I will definitely go back. read more
