Maribel was my stylist and I couldn't say enough good things about her and my experience. I had very deep red hair and I went in knowing that I was not going to get my goal. She was super patient with my tough hair. I was late to my session and I still left with happy smiles. I'm super excited for my second session with her. read more

Ambar did such a great job on my hair! She gave me exactly what I wanted, a subtle bayalage to give me a little dimension. I also requested something that would require very little upkeep and that's exactly what I got! Couldn't be happier! All the girls working at the salon are so friendly, I'll definitely be going back! read more

This is an overdue review... but I'll just say this: uneven hair cut, accidentally bleached and fried my eyebrow and forgot to use Olaplex but was still charged for it LOL. When I was getting my hair done all the girls were basically talking crap about past clients (super uncomfortable experience). I found a new girl that has fixed the damage that was done @ this salon. My experience above was with a girl named Ashley. She's sweet and nice, but this review is on the service that was done on my hair. Hope no one has a similar experience. read more

Had quite an experience with Maribel. She was so kind and patient with me and gave me okay results. She gave us all the information we needed to know My hair took about 3 hours. And the price was in my budget range, under $300. However, there are a few things you should know. I asked for a picture of my hair on the right and came out with something I didn't ask for at all. I don't hate my hair but I was given streaks rather than a blended solid balayage. I was advised it would become more solid after a few sessions, but shouldn't I get what I wanted in the first place? Not something COMPLETELY different. My roots are unblended, and my hair has different colors of blond. I was charged $200 and my cousin was charged less than me, but her hair required more product. They didn't lift the red from her hair with a color remover but she proceeded to but bleach directly on top of it. I was charged more only because I had more results, when my cousins hair required a lot more toner and product than mine. Honestly, I feel like they do things in a certain way to continue requiring you to have more sessions, so they can make money. read more

This review is for Ambar and she did amazing! I showed her a picture of the hair color i wanted and i would've thought t would take me a few sessions just to get blonde but she got me to What i wanted in just two sessions! Also, she gave me really good tips on what products to use specifically for my hair/hair color. She did not disappoint me at all! Thanks Ambar!! read more

Vanity Salon - Piece by Ambar - Hair Stylists Near Me - Concord, California

After all this, calling four times to get an appointment and then finally getting one, I was texted by Carisa in an incredibly rude way that she can't do my hair because I wrote a Yelp review. It took me by surprise especially since my comment wasn't about her work, nor was her name mentioned in my previous review, but about the frustration with trying to get an appointment. Usually, when a customer is treated poorly from the get go one bends over backward to make it right. I was going to give them a second chance to make it right since we all make mistakes. I'll look for another stylist. In her text to me she stated "There have been no mistakes made by me or my salon." Calling four times to make an appointment and never receiving a call back is a mistake. I would be in big trouble at work if I didn't call someone back four times. Yes, it is unprofessional and bad for business. This is the first negative review I've ever written on Yelp sad to say. read more

Love the hair and make up done by Mary! I was little hesitant about the make up at first because I have heavy hooded eyes (Asian eyes)But Mary did it! I love love my make up. She knows what she's doing so I felt really comfortable, she also suggested many things that I didn't think of, which made my make up even more beautiful! Definitely coming back soon for my graduation make up! read more

Honestly the owner should seriously consider hiring new staff, the current ones barely know what they're doing unfortunately. Really nice salon and some of the them are good, just make sure you look thoroughly through the work of whom will do your hair . read more

I have to admit I am a bit frustrated. First let me start by acknowledging the fact that yes I was going to be late to my appointment. In fact I called before I was late to let the salon know. Frantic at 11 minutes late I walk in to be greeted by a rude receptionist that let me know they my appointment would be foregone for the day because I was late. Why didn't u tell me while I was on the phone? What a waste. I was told I could come back tomorrow. But when I originally called I had asked for a Friday am appt and was told there were none. Sigh. It's not an option now. I am sad because I was really looking forward to this salon. Oh well on to finding another place where customer service is better than this. I felt like dirt when I was turned away and the woman was uber catty. Sorry I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I've been here twice and I absolutely love it! Ambar is amazing at her job! I originally went in to go silver and got desired results after the first session but because of my professional career, I decided to go with a blonde balayage and we cut 5 inches off! I love it and I get compliments all the time I highly recommend her. She's also funny which is a plus when you're sitting in a chair for 3 hours! read more

I get my hair done at this salon with Ambar. I am a very happy, satisfied customer. Ambar is not only super sweet but she is a good listener. She listens to what I'm looking for and then she gives me recommendations to compliment my hair type and skin tone. The results are always fabulous! The dye products they use does not irritate my scalp or burn my hair. Ambar also manages to cover my grays very well. Pricing matches the quality of service and products I get. The salon is also aesthetically really cute. Overall I have no complaints and I'm not going anywhere! read more

I have been a regular customer of this salon for quite sometime, and in general they provide excellent service. I've Ieft out a couple of stars only because it has been twice that I've felt intimidated by the attitude of the stylists there. The prices are maybe just about right, or slightly high for the area, but I'll give them another try. read more

Like many others, I have had plenty of bad hair stories from other salons. I've had my hair dyed a brassy blonde (when promised an ashy blonde), had damaged hair from bleach and harsh chemicals, and was promised many unrealistic expectations from multiple hair stylists. I waited about 3-4 years before allowing myself to do anything with my hair. And trust me when I say that I was truly blessed to find Ambar at Vanity Salon. She is truly an amazing stylist who is knowledgeable and experienced! I only trust her and Lei to do my hair as they take pride in their work and are very honest about the limitations of my hair. They have helped me in every phase of my hair journey...going from long dark brown hair, to shoulder length subtle balayage, to my dream goal of attaining ashy blonde, and also back to dark brown hair. There was never a time I was disappointed with my hair. For ladies with long dark hair, I understand the struggle of finding a salon that won't overcharge you because your hair is too long or the color is really dark. At Vanity Salon, I never felt like I was charged an outrageous price. The ladies would spend a minimum of 3 hours on my hair and I never felt like they rushed anything. Instead, they take the time to check on your hair regularly to ensure that everything is coming along as expected. What I appreciate about Ambar is that she works with you to set a realistic expectation for your hair goal and makes sure that your hair is not damaged in the process. The key thing to remember is to be honest with your stylist. If you don't tell them what chemicals you have recently used on your hair, it could potentially damage your hair as those chemical will react to the balayage you are getting. So please be honest from the start! I highly recommend Ambar and Lei. They will take care of your hair and you will gain two great friends in the process! read more

Update: Nobody ever reached out to me from this salon to apologize, offer a refund, or offer to fix my hair. I had to pay to strip my hair completely and re-do my balayage. I would never recommend this salon and will never go near it again. Totally unprofessional. read more

If I could give this salon 10 stars, I would! My story began a few days ago when a previous salon I went to for years did a real number on my hair. My old stylist bleached my hair to the point where I had so much breakage and it was so damaged. I lost so much hair that day. That experience traumatized me and I had a fear of being in another chair. After moping around the house and constantly looking at my hair in the mirror all day, my husband convinced me to find a better salon that could help me with my hair. After talking to a friend for recommendations and yelping for salons around my area, I narrowed it down to this salon. I called and told the woman over the phone about my traumatic experience and what she can do to help me. After texting pics of my hair, she told me come in so she can take a look and try to fix it. As soon as I got to the place, I could feel the positivity in the air. I finally met Mary, my hair savior! She was just as mortified as I was with my hair. I told her that this week has been terrible for me with this whole hair situation and the passing of my uncle just yesterday. I was a wreck. Mary and the other girls helped ease my nerves and I knew I was in good hands. They game planned on what to do and they had confidence that they can right this wrong. During the whole process, Mary continued to ask me if I needed anything and always checked up on me. She even gave her next appointment to her coworker so that I was her only focus. After about two hours, it was the big reveal and I was so shocked! My hair looked AMAZING! It's like she erased all the breakage and the colors blended so well together. I was just SHOCKED! My eyes got watery and I was overwhelmed with happiness. She saved my hair and I gained my confidence back. I will never forget this moment and I will never forget the girls at this salon. They were so sweet and I HIGHLY recommend this salon to all you women out there. Especially Mary! You are truly a savior and I can't thank you enough. I wish there was more I can give you. It's 2am and I couldn't sleep until I posted this review bc she deserves the recognition. Thank you so much Mary and I look forward to this journey with you for years to come!! read more

I've been wanting a balayage/ombré for the longest time. I've looked at others who got their hair done, but was never 100% satisfied. Well....... One of my girls got her hair done and I loved it so I made an appointment right away with Janet. She's freakin' amazing! She's so sweet and treated my hair as if it were hers. She took the time and listened to what I wanted and the results show that she was listening. I love the caramel tones she gave me and can't wait to go back again. Love it! Janet is great! read more

I have not had my hair done in a year. I was nervous and knew I wanted a talented stylist. I was impressed by the photos of Jennifer and Ashley's work here on Yelp, so I made an appointment with Jennifer. My hair was shoulder length, and mostly my virgin hair color with purple dye on my tips. I brought ombré clip-in extensions, purchased online at locksandbonds.com. Jennifer matched my hair color perfectly to the extensions! She cut and colored my hair so that it would look pretty with or without my clip in extensions. She also trimmed, layered and styled them. She exceeded my expectations. I feel like a movie star! Thanks :) read more

Jennifer is amazing, second session and my hair looked gorgeous! Third time around, I changed it up instead of a shadow root we did the full sha-bang and I got bangs, so many compliments!! I love the way she curls my hair, there's nothing else like it. I always like to book in advance after each session. But lately my hair has been getting more yellow and brassy, the shampoo and toning drops aren't doing the trick :/ read more

Today was my first appt here. I should start by saying, I just moved here from Houston, and I worked at a salon for almost 11 yrs so I'm well knowledgeable in how a salon should work with timing and customer service. I saw Carisa, after doing my research on reviews and instagram, I found she was the best to fit my needs. I text her as she requested on her IG, and sent her my hair before and what I wanted it to look like along with my formula that I have always used for my Grey coverage. I got a quick response to schedule my appt which I did two weeks in advance. Now she uses another brand other than my color brand but letting her know what I used and formula, I showed up and she tells me " I got your exact color". For me being in the industry, that's huge! She didn't have to do that and she could have just converted the brand she uses for grey coverage to what I use. That was really sweet. My hair came out EXACTLY how it would have if I was back home. She was very sweet and professional. I'm so happy to know she is near by when I do need to go to her. read more

Before coming here I had only dyed my hair once! From Dark Brown hair to a "sun-kissed glow." I found CARISA via Instagram and LOVED her work from the pictures I saw. I scheduled my appointment and she knew exactly what to do! I loved that she would not do anything without my consent... she even made sure my hair got cut as much as I said so. The only "meh" part was overhearing ANOTHER hair stylist complain about how annoying it is when customers come in with pictures of DIFFERENT hair colors even though they are all similar. I had just done this so I was like ... uhhhh... Thankfully when I did this Carisa did NOT seem rude to me at all. Instead she helped me make a decision. It was just "meh" because not EVERYONE knows the details to hair. ASIDE FROM THAT!!! Carisa was awesome :D Hence my 5 stars :) read more

Where do I even begin? Well, I have been having my hair colored by Jennifer since 2012. I had very long, virgin hair the first time she colored me. She gave me a beautifully blended ombre that I received so many compliments on. She patiently went through the color book with me, looked at my mountain of inspiration photos and really made sure she knew what I wanted before she put anything on my hair. Fast forward to now and she is just getting better and better. Every time I walk in the door, I feel like it's my second home. ALL of the stylists are sweethearts and do such amazing work. You'll never feel rushed or like you aren't being heard. I've also had my hair trimmed by Ashley and she does a wonderful job. My hair was so bouncy and layered perfectly. The salon itself has a very chic feel and the music is always good :) I look forward to my appointments because I know while I'm there, I'll be pampered and come out looking 10x better than when I walked in! Thanks Jennifer, you're the BEST! read more

I went through the yelp photos loved the color. I happen to really like Carisa's ombré and balayage . I called the salon ( which at first I was having a hard time getting through, kept getting a busy signal). But the next day got ahold of someone, very nice and told me Carisa scheduled her own appointments and provided me her phone #. I texted Carisa and quickly got a reply with appt time. Found street parking around the corner free 2 hours ( I was actually parked for 4 hrs but no ticket fewww). Carisa is SO SWEET and kept asking if I was comfortable or needed any drinks. Her work is SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD! I got home and just kept staring at my new sun kissed color. She will be my new colorist forever now! She took a pic of my hair and posted it on her IG acct. I like the idea of that. It give potential customers a good reference and shows that she is proud of her skills. read more

Update! This has officially become my hair salon. I've been here a handful of times and always walk out of the salon feeling excited about my new hair. Ashley is my go to girl-- but everyone else in the salon is awesome too. All clients leaving the salon leave with great hair. Ashley has done everything on me.. From regular highlights to bayalage. Each time carefully asking what I want and delivering. She's always so thoughtful and makes you feel like you've known each other a lot longer than the hour or so you're in her chair. Also- this is a new location! I think the girls moved there maybe several months ago. It's nicely updated with a cool chandelier and comfy chairs. There's even a barber towards the back so your man can get his hair done while you get yours. I Love this place. read more

Ask for Ashley! My younger sister introduced me to Vanity Salon specifically for Ashley. She is so lovely and did a fantastic job with my hair trim and color. Ashley suggested I paired the red with a caramel colored highlight. And she was right! It turned out amazing! read more

Not only was Ashley professional and great, she is relatable and a total sweetheart! Very knowledgable of hair products and how to do it the proper and healthy way! Vanity Salon - Before & After my 1st session w/ Ashley! - Hair Stylists Near Me - Concord, California

I've been coming here for a year now and I couldn't be happier! If you want GREAT hair and not just some knock off of what you originally wanted, then definitely ask for Ashley! Every time I come in, Ashley is very welcoming, excited and warm. You can tell she really loves her customers and will be honest with you if she thinks a hairstyle could be improved or changed a little bit to better suit you. And of course she'll beautifully style your hair! At my older salons, I'd come home and have to restyle my hair because it wouldn't come out how I wanted it. I know that every time I see Ashley, I won't have that problem because she always gives me beautiful curls to end our appointment. Yes, it isn't the cheapest salon and yes it does take a few hours for cut and color, but let's be real, wouldn't you rather someone take their time then rush through your hair for it to have mistakes? The price and time is definitely worth it! Plus, how often do you get your hair done? If it's once every three months like myself, then you deserve to spoil yourself a little! read more

Through much research, I finally found a hairstylist that I will be going to as long as I live in the East Bay. Ashley was my stylist of choice. Review for ASHLEY I'm doing this review, reluctantly, because I'm selfish and hate to let a good secret out of the bag. Objective Get out of my boxed-hair-color funk, rid my naturally dark hair of RED highlights, and give my hair some dimension with lighter highlights and long layers. Results Ashley delivered! She was super sweet, extremely prompt, very professional, and asked me a ton of questions I hadn't thought about before she did her magic. I walked out of the salon very satisfied with the results. We even went over an at-home maintenance plan (i.e., what shampoo to use, how to manage growth, and other helpful tips like Purple Shampoo). What a talented young woman! read more
