I wish I could give this place 10 stars! I needed a change (and a haircut) so I went with my mom to her haircut to see if I could piggy back her appointment. I wasn't so lucky - but they made me an appointment for later that afternoon. I could not believe how much I loved my haircut. I have long hair and haircuts usually go one of two ways - They either cut waaay too much off, or they take waaaay too little. Libby was perfect! She gave me new layers and movement, trimmed about an inch off and prevented the "oh my god is that all MY hair on the floor?!?!" moment. I went in with wet hair, she cut it, dried it and curled it with a flat iron in less than 30 minutes. Not only did she (by some miracle of baby jesus may I add) actually curl my stick straight hair with a FLAT IRON, but it stayed ALLLLL day! And did I mention it was $20 with a tip!?!?! No wonder my mom, sister and aunt recommend Libby. It's because she is awesome. read more

I made an appointment and got Seyda. She was very polite and friendly. She was very careful in following what I want to do with my hair and was ok with making changes to my hair style even though she was nearly finished. I came in with long long hair and left with a really cute bob. I've never had short hair like this before. I received many compliments and people said that I looked young but also mature. Sorry to be writing a one star review with all of these 5 stars for this place, but my experience was a little different. I moved up to the bay area recently and have been trying to find a place for consistent hair cuts, so I was excited to try this place after reading the reviews. I had a 12:45 appointment with Seyda. When I got there, she asked if I would mind waiting another ten minutes while she was still working on her current client, which I was fine with. What happened is that I ended up waiting about 45 minutes, while she did the lady's hair. This without even a word or update from Seyda. Meanwhile, a couple people came and went, having their hair done from others. At the 35 minute point, I asked one of the other girls who had just done a walk-in if they would mind cutting my hair, given I couldn't wait any longer. She said Seyda would be done in 5 minutes. After another ten minutes of waiting, I left. Looks like I'll have to find another place for my hair. read more

I drive all the way from San Francisco to get my hair done by Ms. Darcy. Why you ask -- simple -- because she is the BEST! She knows exactly what I want, and is always so flexible with time and dates, and to top it off, she is the sweetest! This place is cozy, and all the women are friendly. Before I start this review, I would like to let everyone know that I am a self-proclaimed, bonafide hair diva. I am quite particular since my hair is short and was on the prowl to find an affordable, local salon to get my cuts. I recently discovered The Hair Studio and have been stuck on Jennifer ever since. Any extra snip is very noticeable (borderline little boy status) but Jennifer has been very careful and pays a lot of attention to my ridiculous needs. I had a haircut a month ago with that one place in Park n Shop. I think it was called California Cuts? Don't go there. They butchered my hair and after a month I couldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror. I had to get it fixed and The Hair Studio was just the right place to go. I scheduled my appointment with Lauren. She took the time to listen to my frustrations with the other girl who messed up my hair. I told her I wanted to go 3 inches shorter and she did exactly what I was hoping to get the first time I got cut. When I wasn't certain about the length, Lauren offered to straighten it out first so I could see if I wanted to cut more. I really appreciate how she took her time with me and asked if I was satisfied. You can tell these ladies know what they're doing and care about their customers. The best part is the price! Only $20 for a cut? That leaves me $5 to tip you :) I live in San Jose but I'll drive the hour and a half to get my hair done here. Thanks ladies! read more

I came in several months ago wanting my bangs trimmed. Simple, right? Not so. Left with some really ugly, uneven, too-short bangs. Sad day. I tried to ask her to fix them...but the more she cut, the worse it got....so I just gave up. I went straight to Sally Beauty supply afterward to buy some scissors and blending shears to fix them myself. Lesson learned: you get what you pay for. read more

I have been going to Jayme for over a year now and I am definitely a fan. The quality that I leave with is the best hair cut I have ever had for $15! She remembers what she's done to your hair in the past, notices new things about yourself and follows up with you on the topic's you discussed last time. Some people enjoy the peaceful time while getting a hair cut and Jayme is great for that, but she is also a great person to talk to while getting your hair styled! This place takes credit/debit, but be sure to add the tip onto the initial charge because there isn't a place to add a tip.. and she is well worth it! Park either on the street or in the two near by garages and enjoy the Todos Santos Park walk, while going back to your car! read more

Libby has a vision and does a great cut and color job. I love Seyda's hair styling skills and I am about to try out bridal makeup by her. I am spoilt with having a great hair stylist back in Singapore.. I walked in not knowing what I want and walked out very pleased, every single time. That is how much I trusted my stylist. So when I first moved here in 2008, my husband knew he had a really tough job of finding me a "decent" stylist. He didn't find one that I liked (of course), no matter how much we were willing to fork out. I was very frustrated and having just had a child (back then), I was losing my hair FAST and was looking like a truck had just ran over me.. Then in one of those late nights up, I came across reviews on The Hair Studio and decided to give Libby a shot (hey, what have I got to lose right?). I was pleasantly surprised! Seyda was nice, but her skill questionable... My original appointment was at 1 but I had an interview so she was very nice enough to take me @11:45am (between coloring). Unfortunately she just chopped my hair. My experiences with other hairdressers they take their time and make sure everything blends in and looks as natural as possible. If she knew she would rush to get me out of there why did she even agree to take me, just tell me make an another appt! Thats how you stay in business by being honest with your clients. Now I have to wait few more weeks so I can get "real hair cut" with my hairstylist in SF... I wanted to try something new since I just moved to concord. Lesson learned I got what I paid for! $15 :( read more

I went here with my Mom who got a hair cut by Megan. She did a great job, listened and was careful about cutting to the picture she wanted, and best of all didnt cut her hair like she was never coming back. Will go back and for $15 dollars for a hair cut.. you can beat it. It is in a little rough part of town but not purse hugging tight rough part of town if you know what I mean lol read more

I did my research before going here and by all accounts, this should have been a tremendous experience. Apprx 7 wks ago I had my hair colored by another stylist (that I'd been seeing for several years but had to change b/c her prices are $$$$ & I'm not) IMMEDIATELY following the color, I went to HS, saw Libby & discussed changing stylist to her for all future visits. I even took 8 different pics from all angles JUST as a back-up plan. I visited Libby yesterday for a touch-up & ended up with an entirely new look, altogether! First, she forgot who I was, when I had come in to see her the first time or even why. I explained (thoroughly, I thought) with the aid of said 8 pics - which I showed her repeatedly - that ALL I wanted was a touch-up. Now, any other place or stylist would know that by 'touch-up', that means THE ROOTS ONLY! Not the ENTIRE HEAD OF HAIR! I told her "I don't want to much blonde & the red is a copper color, not orange or burgundy, ok?" She said, "Ok, I get it - let's get started." I knew there was a problem when she used ONLY 1 color (since I have 3 colors - a base, a lowlight color & a hilite color) BUT, then she pulled the color ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE ENDS OF MY HAIR - COVERING EVERY STRAND 100%!! That is no 'touch-up' I'd ever experienced & when I told her, she said, "I know you'll like this color. It always looks darker when it's wet." Halfway thru the processing, again, I expressed concern but she just laughed it off, telling me that "it's ok - don't worry." After rinsing & I sat at her station, I AGAIN, expressed concern and again, she said, "Wait till it's dry. You will really like this color." When she was nearly finished with the blow-dry, I just couldn't stand it any longer - I LOOKED LIKE OZZY & SHARON OSBOURNE - COMBINED!! I told her I wasn't happy & that she did not listen to what I wanted. She became quite unnerved & defensive - never once considering that maybe, just maybe, this time the customer was right. Instead, she said, "I showed you the color & you agreed it was the right color. That's what I used." Well, what she had said was - "SOMETIMES THE RED WILL FADE OUT RIGHT AWAY. SO MAYBE YOUR HAIR WAS DARKER BEFORE THAT PICTURE & BY GOING DARKER NOW, IT WILL BE THE SAME COLOR THAT YOU HAVE IN THAT PICTURE." She had already been told that the pics were taken immediately after I had seen her ON the same day I had my last color done!! She was much too concerned with 'keeping her schedule' that she NEVER listened to me and furthermore, became accusatory because I didn't tell her 'in stylist speak' that I had 3 different colors. A good stylist would be able to tell RIGHT away if a person's hair was not their natural color, how many colors they were using and even tell you the SHADES of colors they were using. She may be a genius at cutting hair but it stops at the color chart!! At no time during this exchange did she even acknowledge her role in this fiasco & the drama that it caused. I finally found Jayme at the Hair Studio, and she is fantastic. She is super quick, really sweet, knows what she's doing, and is ridiculously reasonably priced. I have been getting my hair done by Libby going on 8 years now and I have never been unhappy with my hair! Since my first haircut, she has known how to meet my desires while giving me professional advice so that I can truly love my hair. I've had my hair cut, dyed, highlighted, and received extensions over the year and I can honestly say that Libby is the best! It wasn't until I came to this hair salon that I truly began to love my hair. Although I haven't ever had an appointment with any of the other ladies, they are always super friendly (especially Jamie) and pretty much always booked! I would not recommend this place for a walk in, as they have a very loyal and large customer base but if you are looking for a great haircut with a very reasonable price, this is the hair studio for you! read more

I had recently decided I wanted to do a drastic change on my hair, but I wasn't sure what. I called up the Hair Studio, and they gave me an appointment for the next day. The woman I had was Megan, and she did an amazing job! I ended up cutting over 15 inches off of my hair, and I love it! She was very friendly, knew what she was doing and how to make my vague style ideas look amazing. I got the cut and highlights for only $80, which is quite a bargain I'm told. I've had so many compliments on my hair since I got it done, and I tell everyone where I went! I'll definitely be going back :) read more

Had an appointment for a haircut with Libby after reading all the great reviews. She was really nice and not chatty (which I loved!). I have middle length hair that needed layers... simple cut for a cosmetologist. She seemed very confident so I was relaxed and let her do her thing. At the end, she asked me to review the cut and it was horrible. Looks like I was wearing a black bag over my head so I asked her to take off more weight at the bottom and asked for more layers. Second review, not too hot.. looked like Bruce Lee. I didn't wanna ask her to "fix" anymore cuz if she couldn't fix what I asked her to after the first review, then I'd rather not have her mess it up anymore. I ended up going home and cutting my own hair (which turned out AWESOME!). Guess that's what I get for being a licensed cosmetologist, never satisfied with cuts when I know that I could cut better (and I don't cut hair anymore). OH! and as I was reviewing the second cut, her next appointment walked in and saw me looking in the mirror. The lady says "I have a hair cut appt w Libby" and Libby said she'll be with her in a minute as I'm almost done. The lady looks at me and then turns and asked the receptionist to book her w someone else. As I left, I heard that lady telling her friend "Yeah, did you see what she did to that girl?" LOL. Went in and sat down because both stylists were cutting hair and no body acknowledged me, until one saw me in the mirror and she turned around and told me they were booked for the day. The best thing one could do at this place is a haircut, which is very reasonably priced. About the color services.. I was quite upset. Not to mention anyone's name, but the lady who did my hair wasn't sure of what she was doing. Initially, I requested a platinum blonde shade and they told me they'd go as light as they can, and then tone it down so it looks like the color in the picture I provided. Instead, when I got there the stylist informed me that she actually had to consult with her colleagues to choose a right color combination for my hair. Throughout the bleaching and coloring process, she was asking her colleagues what to do next. After the first rinse, my hair looked terribly orange. The stylist applied more bleach (!) and after toned it again, which helped a little to reduce the yellow hue but my hair still looked fake, like when someone does it at home using a cheap box color. The whole process took 4 hours. My stylist was getting nervous, I was unhappy and exhausted, so we decided to just stop there. I didn't say anything negative and not too much positive since I wasn't quite satisfied, and left. My husband and friends all told me it looked fine, and since I was going out of town the next day, I had to live with for 5 days. Right after we got back, I scheduled an appointment at a different salon and now am very happy with the results. Maybe, if a customer requests a simple color close to their natural tone they'd do it, or maybe someone else at that salon would do it differently, but, based on my experience, haircut was the only nice thing. read more

I am so disappointed with this salon. This is the third and last time I make an appointment for a hair trim here. I just sat for 20 minutes past my appointment time waiting for the stylist to finish another client without so much as a "sorry" or "thank you for waiting". I decided to come and get my hair done partial blonde highlights. I must say, by far Lorren is amazing. I have a lot of hair, it's really thick and it is long. So managing my hair is a long process. She always has me out in record time, and looking amazing. She has always had my hair done perfectly each time, helped with conditioning treatments and made sure I was completely satisfied before leaving the salon. I've had my hair cut and styled by both Libby and Megan, who are both very amazing stylists. I have very long hair, and I'm only charged about $15-$20 for the cut and I have not been charged for them to style my hair each time. The girls here are all so nice and they use amazing products in my hair that they have for sale. The last time I had my hair done here, Megan used Chi Royal Treatment products and an oil called Marrakesh oil in my hair and I was able to buy the same products from them and I LOVE these products. I have not been able to find these products so far in other salons nearby. I love these girls, and I won't go anywhere else to have my hair done. read more
