I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Pleasant Cuts. I am a huge fan of how Rose expertly cut my hair. She went over it several time to make sure not a hair was out of place. It really made me feel good that I didn't have to go home to check it after showering. I showed her a photo and she gave me what I wanted. I have longer hair and just needed a clean up with long layers. And that is what I got! All for the bargain price of $30. They appreciate cash payment and I always tip at least 25% for a job very well done. It's totally worth it!! I highly recommend calling ahead for an appointment. PERFECT for my toddler!!!! My 2.5 yo son had been asking for his first haircut for a couple weeks. After trying to walk into a kids only place down the road (and failing) we stopped here on the way home. The woman was so kind and extremely detailed and quick for the whole thing. She was attentive to his needs and encouraging. Safe to safe I think sitting in a car or a horse could be a bit overrated for some kids. He just enjoyed watching her work with all the tools. did not clean comb with barbicide between the first client then to me. there was still hair from the last client on the floor . i asked for connected layers that blend well and just a trim. i had abo it 4 inches taken off with obvious separation between layers. i went back to get it fixed but she just kept putting more layers in and cutting it shorter and shorter. i even asked 3 times in the middle of the appointment to make sure she was just cutting the bottom layer and she waved me off and said "i know , ya ya". then proceeded to cut shorter layers. read more

Ask for Nancy. She's amazing. If she can't cut your hair, make an appointment to see her specifically. And, although hair stylists should NEVER put products in your hair without first asking, the other lady will. If you do have her for your hair cut, she told me that people should let her know right away if you don't want products in your hair the minute you sit down. Well, I will never sit down in a chair with her as the stylist. It would be 1 star, based on today's hair cut experience. But Nancy is a 5 star experience. read more

I got a hair cut here on Saturday. at first the outcome looked great, the ladies were friendly. once I got home and rewet my hair to let it naturally dry (I have very curly natural hair) it looks horrible. There is quite literally a shelf in between the layers she put in my hair that is beyond visible. I just shaved my head two years ago to restart after having severely damaged hair and I was just to the point where I was extremely in love with my hair again and it is ruined now. I'm beyond sick to my stomach, I wish they would have just told me upfront they weren't familiar with cutting curly hair. I asked and they said they were. Did an outdoor haircut with my mask, showed this wonderful woman two pictures and she cut my hair perfectly and was very sweet. I got a slightly inverted blunt cut a little above the shoulder and I love it. All my dead ends are gone and my hair feels healthy again!Outside has shade and wasn't too hot and a pretty view. I went there for a hair cut. Usually Nancy does my hair cut and she does a good job. However, she was not there that day, and the other lady cut my hair. She did a horrible job. Uneven, too short, simply ugly. My husband and my friends, when sow me, flat out made fun of me. Thanks God, hair grows. However, by the time my half centimeter ( at places ) hair grows to decent length for another haircut, I have to put up with it. It would not be an easy ride. A few months ago, booked same day appointments for my husband and I on a Saturday. It looked like they are currently not accepting walk ins. It was clean inside, with the different stylist stations socially distanced from each other. I didn't catch her name, but the nice older woman cutting our hair did a great job. She was very professional and efficient, so we were in and out quickly and on with our day. My husband wasn't picky, so she asked a few questions to start and took it from there. I brought a reference picture and she quickly understood what I wanted and delivered a nice cut, checking with me along the way to make sure she captured what I had in mind. Best of all, the prices was extremely reasonable ($39 combined for the two haircuts, pre tip). read more

I know it's time for a haircut when I start curling up in the back and the side burns get a bit uneven from all those shower shaves. That realization usually sinks in about 3 months after the last one. Today, I realized it was time and decided that I wanted to find an old time Barber Shop somewhere close to my new Pleasant Hill environs. After some Yelp research, I decided to try Cruz's Barber Shop, and unfortunately found them closed for good. Dimaggio's in Walnut Creek (2nd Choice) seemed too far, so I decided to drive up Pleasant Hill Road until I found the first place that looked like it met my high stylistic Man standards. And soon enough, Pleasant Cuts appeared on my right and it would have to "do". All in all it was a nice cut and well worth the $14 price. It's not your neighbourhood clip joynt like Phil's in El Cerrito, where you not only get a cut, but a detailed explanation on how the razor works and a play-by-play on who's sleeping with who. It was a no-nonsense cut and with little time or inclination for small talk. I probably won't be back for awhile, but only because I miss the Phil's or similar Barber Shop experience. But in a pinch, it's a dependable choice. read more

I chose the place because it was close and good reviews. I was visiting from out of town but needed a fresh cut for an event. I called ahead and they told me to come down, it wasn't busy. The woman that cut my hair did a great job and was able to take her time because it was so slow. I have short fairly straight hair so it usually takes 20-30 mins to cut. I had also mentioned I was somewhat short on time. As much as I hate to push for a stylist to finish up, after about 35 mins I had to do it. My hair was cut exactly as I had requested.
