This was an 8-minute rush job that ruined my hair. The barber didn't even use water, so he was cutting my hair while it was dry and sticking up. He parted it wrong and didn't look closely at what he was doing. I have random long hairs hanging over my ears that are almost an inch longer than the rest, and the whole cut is choppy and uneven. There are A LOT of barber shops in downtown Walnut Creek (seriously, Yelp it). I recently moved in the area and needed to find a regular place to cut my hair. I chose Great Cuts and glad I did. It is affordable, quick, and they do a great job! The owner is named Tu and he is very friendly, detail-oriented, and customer-focused. He always ensures he is doing specifically what you want before jumping the gun. He runs the shop with his wife, who is also very nice. Men's haircuts are $20 and women's are $25, which is quite cheaper than some of the other "fancier" barbers in the area. They accept credit card. Usually Tu is able finish in 25-30 min. Even if someone is waiting, he will not rush your cut! There is street metered parking in front of the shop and a large parking lot nearby. Walk-ins welcome, but if you are coming on a weekend, I would call and schedule your appointment ahead of time. read more

Tu is an amazing hairstylist and fun to converse with. I walked in the morning and asked if he does walk-ins, which he does. He told me the price for a men's haircut would be $20, and that is pretty much fair with other places I have seen. I told him just trim around the back and make it overall look a bit short (since I do not get haircuts that often). The entire experience was very nice. He talked to me throughout the haircut experience and was explaining what he was doing. He stopped at different aspects to ensure that the look he was cutting into was what I wanted/be pleased with. Tu is very knowledgeable with being a hairstylist. After getting my haircut, he told me that he recently installed a pedicure station and asked if I would like to try it. I did not plan on doing a pedicure (not to mention this would be the first time I ever done it in my life) but he told me this is something new he wants to add to his business. I decided to try it out and help out more of the smaller businesses if I can. The female employee helped me with the pedicure. I sat in the nice burgundy massage chair while she tended to my legs. They have a variety of different scents you can choose from, such as Chocolate, Jasmine, Olive, Lemon, Mango, and many more. I was tempted to do Chocolate (only because that one seemed out of the ordinary), but I opted for Mango instead. This experience took in all about 45 minutes (only because I set the massage chair to 60 min and when she finished, I had about 15 min left). She was very careful tending to my feet, using the cuticle trimmer and filer on my nails and massaging them with the scented lotions. I felt very relaxed throughout the entire time. She also wrapped hot towels around my legs and used these two "rocks" to also massage my legs. After that was done, my legs felt very smooth and nice. Overall, this was a nice experience. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Tu is amazing at cutting hair, and the female staff was very gentle with my legs. Even for my first time doing a pedicure, I would come back for that and also a haircut as well. read more

My high fade was like a glass of Santana champ...cause it was oh so crisp If you want a jiffy lube type experience where they slice and dice and you're in and out this is not the place for you. I brought both my kids here for haircuts. With their new prices, it's not the best bargain anymore. But I brought them anyway because they do great hair. Today we came in Sat am around 11am. One of their customers ahead of us had his phone on some sort of sports station ON FULL BLAST with yelling and frequent commercials. I had a strange and terrible experience here. When I arrived both Tu and his female colleague were busy with customers. Once Tu finished his work, the female colleague stopped working on her customer and started doing my haircut and Tu took her customer. Then when Tu finished his work, the female colleague stopped working on my haircut and Tu continued her work to finish my haircut. As expected the result was terrible and Tu didn't care about doing a good job and finished my haircut in less than 5 minutes. I never ever had this experience before where one stylist start a work and when the other one become free, that person would take over the work and finish it. These folks are great. I've taken my twin girls to Lin twice. Great experience and reasonable cost. Easy to schedule ahead, but walk-ins are accepted, too. They will also shampoo and condition your kiddos hair; I've found some Children's places won't do this. We prefer the full service cut with shampoo! MY NEW GO TO SALON IN THE EAST BAY!!! I was looking for an affordable blow out and I found it here! I called only moments before walking in and Linh was able to see me right away. It does come with a shampoo and conditioner wash beforehand. I have color treated hair right now and she was able to accommodate to my needs by using color safe shampoo and conditioner.
