I really didn't have more than a vague idea of what I was looking for when I walked in. I was helped by the owner herself, who was extremely patient with me while helping me look through and try on countless pairs of frames. It's not everyday you get serviced by the person most passionate about the business! She was very candid about what she thought looked good and what didn't, which I appreciated.  After about twenty minutes of trial and error, I finally zeroed in on a pair of frames I love. I also bought a separate pair of reading glasses, which I am also extremely happy with. My glasses arrived about three days earlier than promised, and when I picked them up, they spent a good deal of time making sure the fit was exactly right.  The people there truly care about customer satisfaction! As other reviewers have commented, this place isn't cheap. They carry mid to high end brands and it has much better service and price than you'll find at a mall; you can go to Costco and get glasses for about half the price. What you will not get if you go elsewhere is the attention to detail, the selection, and the patience from the staff while you try on your next pair of shades at A&P Optical. Do yourself a huge favor and buy your next pair of glasses there.

They were so fast and efficient with their glasses recommendations and the eye check up- because I chose a sturdier plastic style that was comfortable and non-name brand, they were able to furnish me with two pairs of glasses, and my family member who came in with me got a pair too. Anthea and her colleague/partner checked on our benefits and were able to find the most cost-effective payment plan as well. I walked out surprised that they could make everything on the same day as I came in, and so we went to have dinner in the mall to wait. They texted me halfway through saying they were ready, and surprised me yet again when I came back to pick them up, saying that our insurance allowed us to get everything for free. On top of the two frames I ordered (one with transition lenses and one blue light blocking as I am a frequent biker and also a student) they sent me home with promotional contact lenses, as I mentioned I use those infrequently. It was a dream to come here, I couldn't be happier with my experience, fluke or not. The ladies here are so impressive, efficient, and lovely. Would recommend them to anyone.

I had broken 2 pairs of Prada glasses and had wandering around without being able to see for almost…read morea year. I had a few other pairs of Prada frames kicking around, and I wondered if I could use them to fix the ones that had broken. I also had some sunglasses that were either loose, bent, or missing nose pieces. I walked in to Opticana and was greeted by 2 friendly ladies. They were able to take my broken Pradas (both pairs) and use my other Prada frames to give me 2 fully fixed pairs of eyeglasses! They also fixed my designer sunglasses (4 pairs). This was all done i less then half hour. I knew they were closing soon, and I offered to come back the next day, but they insisted that they would finish. The total for everything? ONLY 27$!! He said he would deal with me asap (on phone) Once ready to handle my situation -- he listened & answered all my questions thoroughly He offered very useful suggestions on some of my issues to do with poor eyesight on what I believe to be a faulty prescription from another large-scale optical chainstores. I liked his suggestions, relating to my need for Toric Contact lenses + eye glasses too. He offered to redo my eye exam, and I will do so this year. If you're on medical disability - not a problem being accepted. The eyewear on offer is stylish designer brand names similar to those seen in Holt Renfrew yet at reasonable prices that work within a limited budget. Jackson Go is very reserved, yet intelligent, thoughtful, considerate & good at what he does. He's really good about repairs or exchanging any flaw/ faulty things going on. He handles the situation effortlessly & flawlessly without objection. The upshot is two years later I've come back 3 times.-- so for sure, I'll be a returning repeat customer!

Get on the email list or follow them on social media to ascertain the dates. I got a pair of sunnies for hundreds of dollars below original asking price. ~ On occasion I have purchased frames and gotten the lenses put in elsewhere to offset the cost. ~ Specs are often the first thing people see on your face. If you keep a pair of glasses for many years (which is reasonable) and divide the price by amount of times worn, it becomes apparent it is a reasonable investment purchase. The selection is wondrous and the staff are fun and helpful. They explained what frames were right for me and it corrected the 'nose-slipping' issues I had with other frames. Sidenote: I usually go to this location. However, the Gastown location is dear to my heart. My glasses broke the week I had a very significant death in my family. My glasses had been purchased in another city (not from Bruce) but the company told me the replacement part would have to be ordered from Belgium. I found out that Bruce carried that line of glasses. The Gastown location provided the part free of charge and fixed them for me immediately - a bright spot at a nightmarish time.

At the gastown location, the sign said 'by appointment, but we'll help walk-ins if we're free'. I could see four employees squeezed into the back on computers. I knocked and knocked, and they looked up and ignored me. I was masked, normal looking. I called, and they let me in. Very blasé, very snobby vibe. Fuck it - just went somewhere else.
