I scheduled an appointment to see a car that I found on their website. Upon arrival, the salesman immediately asked for my license and wanted to know if I had a trade. He asked about financing, and I said that I didn't need financing, but I wanted to see the car first to decide whether I was interested enough to take the test drive. He said this was standard procedure. I gave him my license and asked to see the car. I also gave him the keys to my car for appraisal. He said he had to make a copy of my license and get the car. I waited 10+ minutes for him to copy the license. When he returned, he said that he had to go bring the car around. So, this annoyed me right off. He knew I was coming, but the car had not been brought around, and it took 10 minutes to copy a license. After another 5-10 minutes of waiting, he returned with the car. It was dirty. He said that of course, if I buy it, they will clean it up. He also said that there was only one key, but he would find out if the existing warranty would cover a replacement key. WHAT? I drove the car and I actually liked it. BUT when we returned to the showroom, he went to the back to "run the numbers." They also appraised my trade, which is in excellent condition with very low miles. I had already run numbers on my car, so I know what it's worth on multiple platforms and in all conditions. I waited another 20+ minutes. He came out with the finance guy who put a sheet of paper in front of me and said, "sign here" and he would go over the numbers. I said, No. I'm not signing anything. They lowballed me by $8,000 what I've researched my car is worth. I understand the dealer's need to make a profit, but that offer was laughable. I said that I was unhappy with the "numbers," thanked them for their time and stood to leave. I asked for my keys, which they hadn't returned to me. Finance guy kept talking. At that time, my son, retired Navy, asked the finance guy for my keys. The finance guy kept talking. My son said that the conversation was over. It felt like we were being held hostage. We were at their mercy, forced to hear their spiel because they had my keys. My son demanded the keys for a third time. Finally, the finance guy stood, told the salesman to get my keys, and walked away. We waited another 5 minutes for my keys and left. I told the finance guy that I am a 67 year old woman, and this was not my first car purchase. I was disappointed in the lack of courtesy and professionalism. Perhaps they need more training, because they didn't know how to treat a customer with respect and simple kindness as opposed to fake smiles and obvious games. They were my first stop, but I've found the car I'm interested in at a couple of other dealerships. I'll be visiting them this week. The good thing is that I don't need a new car. I have had my Santa Cruz for just under a year's time and have been here for the 3rd and last time today. First time taken in for sensor issues, random alerts on my dashboard coming on every time I'm driving for no reason. They reset the computer, and after several months it started up again. Second time, came in for the same issues with the sensors, in addition to the transmission slipping. They said it needed an ignition coil replacement and that cylinder 4 was misfiring. They said they fixed these things. The third time I came in because the sensors started popping up again, with my transmission slipping again. in addition to a new one. I was about to leave a parking lot and drive into a 2 way intersection when an alert popped up that my engine was turned off and to restart it. If this happened literally 5 seconds after I would be in the middle of the street and l very likely could have been T boned. After running a diagnostics test I was told they couldn't find anything. The only possibility being that my license plate frame was blocking the sensor, and because of that being something I put on the car, I would have to pay for the testing because it wasn't covered under warrantee. I would have paid for that, but when I came in I was told by Fabian that even after taking the frame off the LICENSE PLATE ITSELF was blocking the sensors. Because I DID NOT put the license plate over the sensor and it's how the car comes I told them I shouldn't have to pay for it. They still told me I had to pay for it because they had to run a test on it. I am no longer allowed back cause I refused to pay, which is fine since the 3 times I went they could not solve the issue at hand. Purchased a used 2022 Chrysler 300s. Aside from the fact that I paid more for the car than I was led to believe(found some extra charges I didn't know about) and find out there is only one key to vehicle after purchase ($500+) now I find out they can't repair the exhaust tip that was promised at no charge. When you arrive at the dealership they won't honor the price and add $1,000 to that, then claim that they need an additional mandatory fee of $2,795 for "reconditioning". Out the door, they want a minimum of $22,395 for a car advertised for $16,891. That is to say nothing of the other fees that they consider optional. They claim the car is worth $20,360, but they are willing to give you a "deal" of $17,891, but after their add on's....$30,552. You could buy brand new for less. Don't let your family get swindled. The advertisement described the vehicle as a great deal and stated that it was equipped with towing features. Upon inspection and test drive, the vehicle appeared to be in good condition; however, I discovered that it did not have the advertised hitch or brake controller. The dealership assured me that these items would be installed prior to delivery. The sales representative demonstrated minimal interest throughout the process. He presented a pricing sheet for signature, which, regrettably, we did not review closely at the time. When I later requested a copy of the original document, the dealership was unable to produce it, and I noticed that the vehicle listing had been removed from CarGurus. Communication with the salesman ceased, and while his manager was somewhat more responsive, follow-up remained inconsistent. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle--two days later than promised--it had no fuel, and I strongly suspect that additional charges were added to offset the cost of the towing equipment installation. Beware of deceptive business practices! I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Vandergriff Hyundai. I purchased a vehicle in early March 2025, put down a $3,000 down payment, and was fully approved through financing. Over a month later, the lender backed out of the deal (not my fault), and I was forced to return the vehicle to the dealership. I was initially told I'd receive my full down payment back, but Vandergriff Hyundai management (used and general sales managers) then informed me they were withholding over $400 due to "mileage." There was nothing in the contract stating they could legally do this, especially when the deal was canceled by the lender--not by me. When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Vandergriff Hyundai doubled down and falsely claimed there was damage to the vehicle, citing a "splash shield" issue. This was not true--the splash shield was loose and was removed by the dealership themselves after I notified them of it during my ownership. At no point was this ever mentioned as damage until I challenged their decision to withhold my money. Only after I pushed back and exposed their lies on the BBB did they finally refund the remaining amount of my down payment. This whole experience felt shady and dishonest. I expected professionalism and transparency but was instead met with deceptive tactics, false claims, and a lack of accountability. I would strongly urge anyone considering buying a car here to shop elsewhere. I wish I would've looked at the reviews before doing business here. First off, I have my current lease through this place. Hyundai finance doesn't allow any 3rd party to pay out your lease. (Example, Carvana) Second, I wanted to try to buy my car that is currently in a lease. I have 9 months left on my 36 month lease. They will not be flexible with your lease contract or work with you if you want to buy it. They want to juice every penny they can from you. Next, I went in a couple weeks ago to get quoted for a used $42k vehicle. They were trying to get me to pull out a $83k car loan! I strongly suggest not leasing or buying here. Terrible Experience with Prearranged Pricing I had a prearranged out-the-door price for a car and had set up an appointment in advance. However, the entire process turned out to be extremely frustrating and disappointing. The first time the salesperson came back, the price was $20,000 over the agreed amount due to added accessories. I refused, and he returned with a lower price, but it still wasn't what we had discussed. On the third attempt, he was closer to the agreed price but then claimed the car price was different because of the lease. Fed up, I asked for my keys back for my trade-in. While driving home, I received numerous texts from the dealership saying they talked to another manager and could now do the deal if I turned in my lease. NOTE: Just adding this early so people see it. It's ILLEGAL for a dealer to impose mandatory packages or "dealer prep" charges that aren't included in the advertised sales price. If they show you a quote that includes mandatory charges other than document/title fees, take a picture of the page, get a screenshot of the original advertisement, and take 5 minutes to submit a complaint to the Texas DMV. You'll be doing a service to all car buyers. AVOID! This place is every sleazy car dealership stereotype rolled into one. 7 TxDMV complaints (about to be 8) and thousands of dollars in penalties against this dealership and they are still causing trouble! :) That said, this is a great place to send your enemies if you want them to get subjected to silly sales tricks and taken advantage of. If the idea of flushing money down the toilet sounds appealing to you, step right up! My experience: I showed up after a few hours of messaging with them only to be told that the car I was there to see wasn't on the lot anymore and had been sent to auction. They told me this is what happens with cars that haven't sold after a few weeks, but the internet showed it had only been listed a week and had a price drop the day before so it definitely wasn't stale. I would bet money that DMV Enforcement Division tells me they lied and it was sold to someone else; I wonder how many days before I came in it was sold for. They introduced me to a newer car that was thousands more expensive and said they would do whatever they can do to help me out to compensate for the inconvenience. They didn't. Instead, Daniel started telling me during the test drive about all the cool stuff they do to the cars at this dealership, which of course was a setup for having all of those things in the form of thousands of dollars in additions to the sale price. The most interesting to me was $2,000 in "dealer prep" for whatever they need to do to the car to have it ready to sell. To be certified by Hyundai this car has to have already been through a thorough 137-point inspection. It was ready to sell. I'm supposed to pony up $2K for nothing? Then they said it's the CPO fee. This is 100% unethical; the car is being listed as CPO at a good price, then you say well actually it's $2K more, and you have to pay it since it's already CPO. It's no different from if you went to a nice steakhouse and order a meal at menu price, then they tell you it's an extra $50 if you want a plate and another $50 for the fork and knife. That's how Vandergriff Hyundai does business. I get that the auto business is in a weird spot right now and prices are in flux. It's a used car so they have whatever latitude they want to adjust the sales price. Making up new fees, though, is literally just scamming people and creating arbitrarily high anchor points so they can bilk out thousands of dollars from people who don't know how to say no. They lure you in with a sales price that there was never a chance of paying in the first place. It's not even a matter of "it's that plus the taxes and mandatory fees", which is standard. A $30,000 becomes can quickly become $40,000, and that's NOT all taxes. Anyway, you've been warned. Before you go, figure out a couple cars you might want and email them. Ask for the OUT THE DOOR CASH PRICES. When you narrow it down, negotiate by email. Get that cash price, call some credit unions and banks to line up reasonable financing, then when you have financing lined up or cash, you can get it done. But don't let them pull your trade-in or financing into the deal structure or else you create so many variables that it's impossible to keep them even remotely honest. You are better off selling your own car anyway, it's free on cars.com and the process is easy and most buyers there know what they want and you won't get stuck showing it to many people. Similar experience as others. Went down to look at a used truck. After running numbers they come back with around $6k of addons to original sticker price. They said they were mandatory addons. We also had a trade in and I had already done a Kelly blue book trade in to get a rough estimate of value prior to going in. After they did their appraisal it was like half of what I had already did. They were like trying to steal it. My wife asked for our keys back to our vehicle multiple times so we could leave and they just kept coming back trying to get us to deal with them. Never again. I dropped off my Kona for a warranty repair on the turbo charger. I was then informed that it would be $3800 as warranty would not pick it up. After I pressed them and indicated I'd simply pick the car up all of a sudden now the warranty would cover it under "good will". Not sure why it was "good will" when the warranty is the warranty but I'd wager that they waited on the paperwork (the warranty was expiring) and were initially denied. I inquired about a loner initially and was told I only get a loner if it was under warranty otherwise it would be a cost. When I went in to get the loner, I specifically asked is there a cost for the loner? I was informed & given paperwork that there was no cost and they only needed a credit card for tolls. Upon picking up my vehicle today I was informed that I was being charged daily for the loner. To which I again brought up the inception of me picking the loner up and what was indicated and in writing. Mo (service manger) came out and proceeded to say "you wouldn't be here but for me" "we spoke about cost before the paperwork" "my office staff is unknowable as to the financial details bc they deal usually with free loners". All of this was met with me again reiterating the initial interactions and documents at picking up the loner. I finally had to tell him that I am an attorney and am very knowledgeable as to contracts. At this point Mo looked at me & stated "we will eat the cost for the loner but we will never service your vehicle again". Which I was fine with. He then went further and indicated "In fact we don't want any of your future business ever." (Again I was fine with that). Of interesting note I had begun working with a sales agent to get a car for my son but based on the horrible interaction with Mo (the service manager) who stated "We no longer want your business and will not service your vehicles further" after his lack of professionalism and business acumen I will be purchasing a vehicle for my son elsewhere. Please note that Mike "Big Mike" and Bruce on the sales side were great. But Mo was callous, arrogant & was severely lacking. They still had us leave work early, fight traffic and waste our time for a MIA vehicle. We were offered other trucks that were nothing like what we were looking for and that cost much more $$ though. I wish I would have done my homework. This dealership is the worst. Steer clear. Took car in for an oil leak inspection 5 days later my skid plate fell off going down the highway. Took it back to them and they tried to blame everyone else and then tried to charge me $350 to replace it. I immediately left the dealership and went to a different one. Told them what happened they said this dealership was definately at fault from what they could tell. Not to mention the new dealership quoted me $175 for the exact same part and install.
