This was an unconventional purchase for sure; I was negotiating on behalf of the Sisters (nuns) to purchase the vehicle and make it easy on their behalf. Dillion and Ace made it smooth from start to finish. From the moment I connected on the phone, Dillion ensured he would take care of us and earn our business. He got me connected with Ace and they were both extremely responsive. We did all negotiations over the phone and Ace even drove an hour in traffic to drop off the car to the Sisters so they would not have to come to the car dealership. It never felt pushy and they were okay to lose business if we genuinely found a better deal elsewhere - although they just matched whatever I found and took care of us from the jump. If I could give this dealership 0 stars, I would. I have been a customer of theirs since 1998. I used to take my old car to their old location on Division street. That's how long I've been coming here. I've had 3 vehicles serviced here but I will no longer do that. They have ALWAYS accepted competitor coupons, but today I was told they don't any more. I DROVE 45 MINUTES OUT OF MY WAY. I could've gone to a dealership that's closer to me but instead I just wasted 90 minutes that I wish I could have back. I was offered their oil change coupon of $39.99 but I declined it. I have used my $29.99 coupon there before and it was not an issue. I don't understand why they didn't accept it and warn me that in the future they would no longer accept them. This is just poor customer service. An employee at another dealership told me he used to work at this location. He said they treat their employees poorly and that their sales department does shady things. Horrible service! Stopped in for a simple oil change. This service would usually take 30-45 mins in any normal place, not here! Took 2 hrs! When I arrived I notified the service person GUY (yes that's his name) my phone number and I was sitting right next to his area in the waiting lobby. I noticed he was chatting it up with someone for about 1 hr. 2 hrs later I finally went to ask him, where my car was. He looked at me and said "oh it's been ready". I asked him why wasn't I notified, I was sitting right in front. He said "oh didn't you get a text" I told him I didnt. He offered a free drink to make up for the extra 45 mins I waited. This is just plain bad svc. This is his job, and to try to turn it around just bad. Then he said "oh the text must have not gone through" or "it must've texted your husband". Worst car buying experience ever. Everything was great until I found out about contract specifics that were withheld while signing the final contract. The finance manager lied about everything I signed and hid 2 extended warranties that I explicitly declined. The finance manager withheld 19 pages of the signed contract and I had no way to access the full contract. Once I found out 6 months later, the dealer had no remorse and I ended up losing almost $1,000. Never trust anything this dealer says especially when it comes to signing the final contract for a new car. read more

I wish I'd seen the two-star rating on this place before I'd come. That might have stopped me from making the mistake I did. I absolutely wanted to go with another Accord; my last two had both lasted me many years and while in an ideal world I could have waited until my wife's own vehicle was paid off, my '08 model had been declared a total loss. And I also wanted to go with another Honda dealership. I'd worked with Lute Riley and David McDavid in the past, and both had done right by me. So I looked through Metroplex-area Honda dealerships and found a model that looked all right. It was a '19 Accord--older than the models I'd previously had at purchase, but both had endured more than a decade--at a little over 16k. Again, we were still paying off my wife's car and I could deal with an older model. When we got to the dealership I noticed some cosmetic damage. The car's history was not accident free. Whatever. Some basic scuffing was something I could deal with and it was still nicer looking than the battled warhorse that was old enough to buy cigarettes. Sticker shock came as we went over the purchase. Between TT&L and a package that I'm honestly still vague on the benefits of but felt pretty non-negotiable, the price leapt up another $6000. I was upset, but concluded that any other vehicle would likely have a similar upcharge. Fine, fine, I could deal. I signed. I traded in my old vehicle and put in my settlement check for the accident. The next morning, when I backed out of my apartment parking space, the brakes let out an ungodly howl--something deftly avoided during my test drive by the sales associate parking it in reverse before bringing us out, so I would be going forward the entire time--and by the time I got home from work (less than 24 hours after purchase) the radar in the bumper was throwing up error messages. Lane detection was shot, as were cruise control and the automatic brakes. Today, a few weeks later, I took the car in for some care: first to my local shop, who were able to confirm that the rear pads were poor-quality trash, and that the radar was beyond their capacity to address, and then...well, then I reached back out to Vandergriff. They informed me that they were very busy and it might be multiple days while they investigated the problem, but that my car did have some coverage which should apply to the radar. I was willing to drive out from Carrollton to Arlington for what I thought was a good buy (ha ha), but they affirmed that the Honda True coverage should be valid at any Honda dealership. So I went to the much closer Lute Riley Honda. Maybe I could criticize them, too, for what's to come? But much like the doctor doesn't create the cancer, they just let you know that it's there, so too did their inspection reveal that not only did the sensor that Vandergriff sold the car to me with need to be replaced, but the serpentine belt that Vandergriff sold the car to me with was cracked and needed to be replaced, and the transmission mount in the car was damaged and leaking and needed to be replaced. Each of these was over a thousand dollars: between this and the brakes I'm out another $4k, none of which, it turns out, is covered. Going to these people was a mistake. I feel like I got the true Used Care Sales experience, and I don't like it. read more

I just got off the phone with Chris Lapid regarding a service appointment for a part on my wife's vehicle that is failing well before it should. This is an emissions part that typically lasts the life of the vehicle or well over 100,000 miles and Honda even has a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) recognizing early failures on this exact make, model, and year. It seemed unreasonable to have to pay a diagnostic fee plus parts and labor to repair something that should not be failing in the first place. Unfortunately, Chris's philosophy and approach were completely different and unprofessional and frustrating. He said, and I am quoting: * "They don't make them like they used to. We all know everything made since COVID just sucks." * "All brands have problems like this." * "Cars today just fail earlier." * "I know advisors at Toyota/Chevy/Nissan etc. who will tell you the same thing." This behavior is unacceptable for several reasons: 1. Dismisses legitimate concerns: Instead of evaluating the vehicle or exploring solutions, Chris made broad, dismissive statements. Customers expect expertise and guidance, not excuses. 2. Undermines trust in the brand: By disparaging Honda and comparing it unfavorably to other brands, he cast doubt on the quality of the vehicles he literally represents. This makes me question my purchase and the dealership's reliability even more than I already had. 3. Lacks problem-solving mindset: Advisors are expected to guide customers toward solutions, whether through warranty, goodwill, or repair options. Philosophical statements like "things aren't built well anymore" show indifference rather than professionalism. 4. Reflects poorly on the dealership: Staff behavior shapes customer perception. Comments like this leave a negative impression that spreads through reviews and word-of-mouth. During the call, Chris repeatedly mischaracterized my reasonable request as wanting a "free repair," despite my concern being solely about the diagnostic fee for a part recognized by Honda to fail early. He even said, "I didn't think this phone call was going to take 36 minutes," first off you called me, secondly that's what happens when you make excuses and try to deflect and discuss modern car quality philosophy instead of trying to find a real solution. "I got like 6 people waiting in line I have to keep telling to hold on" Ding ding ding, my exact point. Instead of being productive, he chose to waste time and resources because he couldn't actually problem-solve. He had no factual, policy, or technical basis to stand on. He had no real argument. This conversation was a waste of time and left me extremely frustrated. My request was grounded in policy, industry standards, and expected vehicle lifespan, not in a desire for a handout that he kept insinuating. Due to this experience with Chris Lapid, I want to make it clear that I have no intention of ever purchasing another vehicle from Vandergriff or any of it's dealerships. The combination of repeated issues with this vehicle and the dismissive, unprofessional behavior I encountered has completely eroded my trust in both Vandergriff and Honda as a brand. I will also be sharing my experience publicly and with others in my network so they can make informed decisions and avoid a similar negative experience. Vandergriff Honda makes a good impression on the buying process of the car. One of the many unique things about the dealership is its teeming with employees ready to serve and assist you with anything--especially a sale. I got to work with a gentleman nicknamed "Prince," who had his own bag of tricks to keep me in the chair, but his approach to the deal was friendly. He was relatively easy to work with and even offered me a coffee from the bar. We got to test drive the vehicle several times and also reduced the cost significantly from their initial value, however, I will admit that Vandergriffs packages for "car reconditioning" and "bumper to bumper" insurance is insanely expensive. Its easier fir buyers to just avoid these mark ups entirely--a but of a shady tactic on their part. Overall, I had a pretty ok experience. I would recommend them as a lot to shop out of but would also recommend to be extremely cautious of mark ups--they're astronomical. You can definitely lower the price of a car. Come in prepared with a price in mind and dont back off. Dont waste time. read more

While the experience was extremely frustrating at first, it is important to acknowledge when leadership takes responsibility and resolves an issue correctly. Vandergriff Honda gave me an offer for my used car through CarGurus on 12/07/2025. The offer was for $22,675 and said it was good for 7 days pending a hands-on inspection. I made arrangements to accept that offer and meet for the sale. Alex Arcos met me on 12/12/2025 and did his inspection. He then said he could pay about $1500 less. When I asked what was wrong with the car Alex said nothing was wrong. His manager came out and talked to us. I asked the manager why they wouldn't honor the original price and he said, "Marketing conditions changed." The bottom line is that Vandergriff Honda an CarGurus used a Bait-and-Switch. This week my right LED tail Light went out. Keep in mind that my car has previously been seen by this service location and I purchased the car from this location. Never once did they mention a cracked led tail light. Now that the light is out and I have brought it to their attention. I have hardly driven this USED CERTIFIED car and issues. They want to charge me dayum near 1000 dollars for a part that costs 110 dollars and less than 10 mins to install. I have purchased most of my cars from this place and when I say NEVER NEVER NEVER will I ever purchase another car from this place. I don't recommend anyone to go here. I won't mention any names, but the service provider stated that it looked my car had previously been an accident. Asked if I purchased the car from Vandergriff and I stated yes. He stated that he doesn't work in sales, but the buyer must really check these things beforehand. DO NOT GET SERVICED HERE! 10th gen civic under extended warranty for AC issues. Call to get it serviced and I was told I would have to pay out of pocket $499 for diagnostics if they found the issues not to be under the warranty. Shopped around and found that the cost of diagnostics for this particular AC warranty at the south Fort Worth location charged $465, Burleson location charged $200 for full AC service, NRH location charged $169, and Frisco charges $50. It's worth the extra drive to not risk paying $500 if they deem it unworthy of warranty. read more

I took my 2022 Honda Ridgeline in for a recall. After that my alarm started going off without warning. I took it back to them only to find out that there is now a short in my alarm system. This issue is going to cost me $1500 to fix. The vehicle has less than 35,000 miles on it. I have owned several Hondas in the past and never had an issue. This is a very new vehicle with very few miles for it to have such an expensive issue. Prior to the "recall repair " my vehicle had no issues. The service technician was not helpful and wouldn't hear me out. He kept telling me that the issue was not from the recall repair. I know that the recall was a wire harness issue and now something else electrical is happening......I don't believe it. They refuse to accept responsibility for messing up my truck. We bought a used Tesla from this dealership. The online list price was $23,750. Salesman tried to add in a reconditioning fee of $1,000 because when they got the car they had to replace the windshield. Ummm then fix it and list it for a different price. Don't list it and tell me it's now on me that you fixed it. Then they tried to add an extended warranty on the vehicle which we declined several times. They don't cover much anyways. So I didn't want it. We told the salesman several times we weren't buying the extended warranty. He comes back and says he got it off. So we agree to purchase the vehicle which in finance they snuck in an extended warranty for a gas vehicle on my Tesla which is an ELECTRIC vehicle. Make that make sense!!!! So I call and they said " oh you can cancel it". Yeah it's prorated! So I just paid for part of an extended warranty that is completely useless for my vehicle!!!! And I'm being charged interest on the amount financed including the useless warranty. Talk about shady!!! Thanks for screwing me! Oh and not giving a shit about doing so. You committed fraud! I'm going to try to have an unbiased opinion when writing this review about my recent service visit. Nobody makes eye contact with you, as you awkwardly wait for the acknowledgment. Some are either busy with other customers, or others are busy having personal conversations while surfing through their phones. I didn't see a receptionist desk, I was a bit lost on how to get someone's attention. I spot the service advisor by his name tag and just approached him as he was walking back to his desk. Van was awesome on the phone at getting me a quick quote of $2,850 before tax for an Honda Civic SI clutch replacement. Offering to use OEM parts instead of throwing money into the wind with factory parts. The car was still not worth the repairs, but I still love my Civic and decided to move forward with it because I need my car and didn't want a monthly payment. He was able to get me a loaner car through Hertz, so I wouldn't be without a car. The repair would take about a day if all went well and I'm at the mercy of Honda, when they say its going to take 10 hours of labor to replace it. I know amateurs that say they can do it in under 8 hours but a certified mechanic taking ten hours to swap out clutch, that does seem a bit excessive. I'm not saying its not a big process and I do know what's required to get to the transmission but I was definitely suspicious about that. My invoice noted ready at 18:13pm, in at 11:49 day before, but they forget the customer gets a text message when the car is actually ready around 1pm. So, to me its already smoke and mirrors. The labor alone around $180 hour. I'm pretty sure there was a bump up of $120 for the loaner because I was unable to get back in time to pick up the car when ready. That, I took full responsibility because I even texted in to see if the car was ready before heading off to work for the next 3 days. The advisor seemed annoyed with me as if I were trying to take advantage of the loaner car situation. I wouldn't and I replied to his message of accepting the charge of $120 for the 3 additional days. But, he stopped responding to my text message when I asked who do I settle it that with, service or Hertz. So, when I saw the final charges it didn't say anything about the loaner and since a Hertz representative wasn't at their desk I still didn't know who was going to charge me the extra $120. I questioned the total amount and that's when the service manager got involved and came back to tell me Van told him on the phone there was a charge for the loaner. I didn't want to argue back and forth, and told him I accepted the charges. I still didn't see it on the invoice but he built into the cost of the labor. I also asked them to check a noise coming from my control arm and a leak I was getting from one of the tires before the car went in. Neither of those two things were addressed. They said there was no leak coming from the tire, although I was replacing the air every two weeks. So, they sent me an add on to the invoice for the TPMS sensor which would replace the valve if it was leaking. They were on backorder until next year, I declined. Then the noise coming from the control arm, he told me my sway bar was aftermarket OEM, and they couldn't do anything with it because factory parts don't fit. That was not accurate, the sway bar is original factory however the sway bar links and bushings have been replaced because on these Civics the bushings wear out fast. They went searching for the wheel lock nut and they flipped a container of oil in my trunk which spilled on my mat. Big repairs like this I have trust in Honda to get them done. I'll avoid this location in the future, Service or Buying/Leasing. So far the clutch feels great. The 3% service charge on the credit card is a big slap in the face. That's the cost of doing business. Never in my life have I seen a name like Honda charge a 3% fee on a transaction, that's expected at a local mom & pop garage. 3 Stars for many things you did right, but this was not a fantastic experience overall. read more
