I have had a smog issue with my used Toyota Tacoma truck on and off since I bought it. The problem always seemed to pop up when it was time for a yearly smog test. Several smog shops and care repair shops just started replacing parts, which cost a couple of $1000. That didn't solve the problem, or for very long. I called Matt, explained the problem, and said I had two days off. Matt said we'll look at it, but it's best to leave it until we figure out what's wrong, or we have to start over. Matt called me back the same day and told me what was wrong, what needed to be replaced, and that a redesigned part also needed to be replaced and what it would cost, which also included getting all the smog registers set and doing the smog test and certification there. Matt called back early the next day and said your truck is ready. We can pick you up and give you a ride to the shop. My truck runs better now, and the smog issue is fixed correctly. My BF has been bringing cars here since it was Wayne's Car Care. The quality did not waver when the shop was bought and changed to Cornerstone. I've come in alone and the mechanics here are always polite and respectful. I've never felt talked down to or been made to feel inadequate because I don't know what different car parts are called. They have always stuck to their estimate regarding pricing and when repairs would be finished. I purchased my Nissan when it was brand new back in 2006. Since then, I have taken my vehicle to the dealership for all of its needed services. Recently, after taking my vehicle to the dealership, they couldn't specify what exactly was wrong with it, and told me that it would cost me over $4,000 to fix... and yet that may or may not take care of what was going on (as they weren't really sure). After reading tons and tons of reviews, and doing some research, we took my truck to Cornerstone Car Care. This was probably my best decision in a very long time. Not only did they know very quickly what was going on, but they gave me a quote on the charges, and it didn't go over that quote. I contacted the dealership to find out what it would have cost me to get the same repairs done there, and I paid 37% less here. When you're dealing with a large repair, especially during the holidays - you need to save as much money as possible. After I picked up my vehicle, I had a question about something that was still happening. They gladly had me swing it in, they tested it again to see if all was good, and made one minor adjustment (to an issue that happened after picking it up - nothing they did or didn't do), and I was on my way! I worked mostly with Matt, and I have to say that he is very professional and extremely patient! Trust me, I called them many, many times with many questions and he never once lost his patience with me or got short with me. And to me, that is a huge deal! I brought my work truck in for what i feared might be some major brake work and Matt and his team took the utmost care of me. They assessed my issue and fixed my problem for a lot less without completely tearing down the whole ABS system like another shop would have been happily willing to do. I have been taking my cars to Cornerstone Car Care for almost 2 years now. I was referred to them by my father in law, who has been going here for I believe almost 10 years now. We are both satisfied customers. Rich and his staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming. I mostly go in for oil changes, which usually take around 30 min, but I have had a few major fixes/more advanced scheduled maintenance including timing belt changes, a radiator leak, and an AC compressor replacement. They have always been reasonably priced and most of all very ethical (he's told me on multiple occasions when a fix is not necessary). Rich stands by his work and even reworked on one of my cars because of a minor issue that came up afterwards, which he resolved. I am happy to have found this place. I had my car shipped from Europe to Dallas and picked up my car yesterday. I stopped for lunch and my car would not start when I returned. After calling two dealerships and a car garage close by, I got a hold of Cornerstone. They were able to see me that day. It was nearly closing time when the tow truck arrived. The gentlemen at a Cornerstone did a quick diagnostic and found my battery was toast. They quickly ran and got me a new battery. It didn't fit in the battery compartment so they ran out and got me another. Within 90 minutes of arriving I was on the road heading for El Paso. This place is amazing. I thought I needed a new radiator fan because mine wasn't turning. And I had just gotten a diagnostic done at City Garage in G.P., where they(City Garage) tried to charge me $1,700 to repair my car. Ridiculous! I found Cornerstone after I picked up my car and got an estimate of $250 to replace my fan...sounded very fair! I took my car in and about an hour later, Matt called me saying he found a piece of foam that was lodged in my fan. That was causing my fan to not turn! Just a piece of foam. They charged me $50 for the service, and I am just beside myself! My mom and I will be returning to Cornerstone for our car repairs/maintenance from now on. read more

My experience with Cornerstone was not good. I spent over a thousand dollars on my wife's car, and I'm still not convinced Rich ever knew what was wrong with it. His answer was to just replace something and see if that works, without first figuring out what the problem was. It was electrical, which I know is very difficult to diagnose, but a good mechanic should know those things. That's what you're paying for. The trial and error approach he used cost me a lot of money and it didn't solve the problem. He's a decent guy and I think he tries, but he is not very knowledgable. OK for minor stuff like an oil change, but I would never let him do anything major to your vehicle. read more
