Unfortunately Carmax cancelled the reservation three times. Each time I had to call to have the reservation reinstated. Today, my sister-in-law drive from OKC to Fort Worth to see the car. I drove from Sugar Land Texas. Before Arriving at Carmax, I telephoned to advise I would be paying cash by wire transfer from my bank. After arriving at Carmax at 11:30 am today, my sister-in-law did a test drive and was ready to conclude the purchase. After a one hour wait, we were advised Carmax would not release the car if we paid my wire transfer. At 2:00 pm I arranged for my bank in Houston to issue a cashier's check at their Fort Worth branch. We were advised the local branch would be closing at 3:00 pm today. We returned to Carmax at 2:30 pm and handed them the cashier's check. They spent the next 20 minutes trying validate the check drawn on Merrill Lynch! Finally at 3:51 pm we were allowed to take delivery of the car. Only a 4 hour wait. This was my third purchase from Carmax and unfortunately my last.

What makes this a horrible experience is how this dealership is treating me as a post sale customer and with my car title. They apparently had issues getting my car title (which they never mentioned, I only found our after submitting a request to get a copy of a title myself after 2-3 months not getting one) I was denied getting a title from Texas DMV saying Family Toyota submitted the wrong title when applying for my title, and they didnt send the most recent one. Now when I call, they just keep putting me on hold until I just get hung up on or sent to voicemail. Its soon to be 5 months from when I purchased my car, and I still have no car title in hand. The Texas DMV even mentioned my title on this clean car might get branded because of their hiccups, but I couldn't even tell if that's true since I don't have a title. Kind of frustrating to spend dozens of thousands of dollars with a company who clearly doesn't care about their clients once you take the car keys and submit payment. I was recommending and buttering this dealership to my colleagues and friends in Texas, but definitely will have to stop doing that.

I had one of the most frustrating dealership experiences I've had while car shopping at EchoPark…read moreDallas / Grand Prairie. I went to look at a 2025 Mazda CX-50 with about 25k miles listed around $25,999. The CARFAX was listed as clean, but the vehicle itself had very obvious visible collision damage. Several panels and a door were misaligned, loose, and looked like the vehicle had been sideswiped. When I pointed this out, I was repeatedly told it was "dust," "dirt," or "wax" despite the damage being clearly visible. It took a lot of back-and-forth just to get anyone to acknowledge the condition of the car. Things got even worse once financing was discussed. I offered roughly a 20% down payment and was trading in a vehicle with positive equity. I also have essentially no other debt, a stable career history, and strong credit. Despite that, the terms presented to me were about $12,000-$13,000 down with roughly 11% APR on a $25k vehicle. I was told several banks had "flat out declined" me, including Bank of America. The salesperson repeated that wording multiple times: "flat out declined." That immediately raised red flags for me because I've had a long-standing relationship with Bank of America for years and have multiple accounts with them. Then the story suddenly changed. I was told that if I purchased their extended warranty, the deal would magically improve to something closer to about $2,000 down and around 6% APR. In other words, if I bought their warranty product, my rate would drop dramatically and the down payment requirement would suddenly disappear. When I asked them to put those financing terms in writing, I received a lot of pushback and they were very reluctant to provide anything documenting the offer. At one point, after hours of going back and forth, I was even told that if I had the money available I should just pay for the vehicle in full right then and there. I spent over eight hours at the dealership dealing with delays, pushback, and waiting while trying to get clear answers. After leaving the dealership, I contacted Bank of America directly and was told something completely different. They informed me that I was not declined and indicated they could finance the vehicle and provide a lending ledger if necessary. That directly contradicts what EchoPark told me in the showroom. I am still waiting for confirmation of which lenders my credit was submitted to and the results of those applications. Despite multiple calls, texts, and emails, the dealership has been very slow to provide that information. Given the resistance to putting financing terms in writing and the difficulty obtaining my credit application results, it raises serious concerns that the bank's actual approval rate (often called the "buy rate") may have been marked up by the dealership for additional profit. Between the visible damage being dismissed, the financing terms changing dramatically depending on whether I purchased a warranty, being told banks "flat out declined" me when the bank says otherwise, and the resistance to providing documentation, the entire situation felt extremely questionable. I ultimately walked away from the deal, and based on my experience I would strongly encourage anyone shopping here to request all financing terms and lender responses in writing and verify them directly when possible.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Vandergriff Honda…read more My wife and I purchased a used 2025 Honda CR-V EX-L with approximately 22,000 miles from Vandergriff Honda on 8/8/2026, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The vehicle was advertised online for $33,667, but the paperwork we were given showed a vehicle price of $38,958, plus a $2,695 dealer-added accessory package, bringing the cash price with accessories to $40,650, before taxes and fees. The total cash price shown was $43,637.94. During signing, the final numbers and contract were not properly reviewed with us, and we were not initially given a copy of our signed contract. We only received the paperwork after we had to return to the dealership and specifically requested it. Immediately after getting home on 8/8/2026, we discovered a large nail in one of the tires. I contacted the salesperson immediately and was told to return Monday. On 8/10/2026, we returned to the dealership regarding the tire issue. Despite being told by the salesperson to return, the staff was extremely hesitant to address the problem. We returned again on 8/11/2026 to discuss the tire issue, the discrepancies in the purchase price, and the possibility of unwinding the transaction. We specifically asked to speak with the General Manager because we wanted to escalate our concerns and find a resolution. We were told the General Manager was not available and that Sales Manager Tim was available to speak with us. We explained our concerns to Tim and asked what could be done to resolve the situation. Tim told us that nothing could be done because we had already signed the paperwork. We were extremely disappointed by that response. We were asking management to review the concerns with the transaction, including the advertised price, additional charges, paperwork, and the tire issue. Instead, we were essentially told that because we had signed, there was nothing the dealership would do. The financing documents show $47,705.15 financed at 7.39% APR, with 84 payments of $730.92 and a total sale price of $62,897.28, including the $1,500 down payment. We spent approximately 6-8 hours at the dealership on both 8/10 and 8/11 trying to resolve these issues. We gave Vandergriff Honda multiple opportunities to make this right. We attempted to work with the salesperson, returned regarding the tire issue, requested our paperwork, and specifically asked to speak with the General Manager. Unfortunately, we left feeling extremely frustrated and disappointed with how our concerns were handled. We have retained our documentation, including the advertisement, purchase paperwork, financing documents, and documentation regarding the tire issue. We intend to file a complaint. My advice: verify every number against the advertised price, question every add-on, inspect the vehicle carefully before leaving, and make sure you receive copies of ALL paperwork before signing. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Vandergriff Honda. I would encourage anyone shopping for a vehicle to carefully compare the advertised price with the final paperwork and make sure every number and product is clearly explained before signing.
